Watching anything good this season?

gracie1, That line is one of my all-time favorites, too.
-
Such a well-written show, with some of the best acting. I just love the polarizing characters....you either love 'em or hate 'em. I always got a kick out of Gus, with his perfect posture and always so put together. I thought it was so funny when he even puked with class, and how he brought a veggie tray to his "meetings" at the chicken farm. Hank cracks me up too, so loud and obnoxious but always there in a heartbeat when someone needs him. What I always thought was so funny was when Walt "worked" for Gus at the laundry and Walt would pack his brown-bag lunch and write his name on it. "Cooks" need a lunch too. And then there's Saul, who's character I just love....so greasy, so funny. My kids tell me he used to write for Saturday Night Live, which explains much of his humor. I just love his suits....it's like the wardrobe department goes to the suit store and asks for the skeeziest, yet stylish suit they've got. Do any of you die-hard fans notice that every once in a while Mike walks with a limp? It looks like he's in a lot of pain sometimes (real pain, not acting pain). I'm sure my tv will be delegated to background noise when this show's over. Sigh.
-
I watched a bit of the free Showtime over the weekend. I know I would love The Borgias, so will have to watch that in some non-premium way one day.
Checked Dallas out, kind of afraid to commit to watching. I am almost out of the habit of watching weekly shows, if I have to wait for them. Oooh, the impatience of the modern times has gotten to me too. Can't say it's just my kids who want everything now.
I haven't seen Mob Wives - Chicago yet, but I'll catch up on those in a marathon. I try to include at least one show with hair-pulling at all times.
-
i'm with you, /Eluimar.. have you been waiting to see "big Ang? i can't wait.. she was the best of mob wives, as far as i'm concerned. i've seen chicago.. not so much..
i don't know if i can handle this yr of tre blood.. it seemed so sacriligous to me.. (what an old fa%% im getting to be.. and i love chris meloni so much, im gonna try..
Ducky (david mccallum is signed on for another yr for ncis, but is "dong other roles elsewhere , at the time WTH?? and pauley perrete is in negotiations still,, i need er to be on that show!!anyone hear anything on it?? 3jays

OMG,Marybe when you wrote "her face doesnt move when she talks" oops too much botox there! lol...I'd like to get fillers but I dont wanna get the frozen face.

I have a question for those of you who have been watching Breaking Bad right from the beginning. Why is Walt still shaving his head now that he is supposedly in remission? I know there was the episode early on when he lst started losing his hair while doing chemo and he then shaved it and then in another he was in the bathroom shaving his head, but why is it still that way now? Having lost my hair myself several times now, I am always elated when it starts coming back so have been wondering about this.
I am now into season 4....watched two of them that I missed on the computer with Amazon and got all of Season 3 at the library. They are still showing it in the wee hrs of the morning(they are up to season lV now) and if I wake up or know I don't have to work the next day, I watch, but I think most of the remaining ones I am either going to go over to my friend's to watch or I will wait for the library to get them for me. They have been able to get them as fast as I watch them so far, but today when I was there they said I was something like #84 for the 4th season. I think a lot of people are trying to catch up so they will be ready for the start of Season V on July 15. I thought the fly episode was pretty stupid, but it made more sense as it got to the end.
I have not watched any regular tv for weeks.....watch Breaking Bad or Showtime on Demand. I have the lst two season of Mad Men on DVD's that someone gave me for Xmas so think I will get into that next. Last time I saw True Blood was with you in Florida, 3jays...I was at my Dad's last Sunday and forgot all about it.
-
There was an episode where just after Walt shaved his head, he walked to the breakfast table and showed himself off to Jr. and Skyler. Skyler said "this is a new look for you, I like it" and Jr. said it made him look bad-ass. I think he keeps shaving it to keep up his bad-ass "Heisenberg" persona. He looks a tad more intimidating with the shaved head and goatee. The fly episode was a bit slow, but I think they were just trying to show what a freak he is about getting a pure product and he wanted that contaminate out before cooking...and to show that he and Jessie are kind of starting to lose it a little. The last episode of Season 4 will blow your mind. It's a busy episode.
-
Thats right I had forgotten about that I guess i should rewatch some of the older seasons before the new one starts.
-
gracie1 beat me to the answer...Walt kept the shaved head to go with his alter ego, bad-ass lifestyle.
I am going to have to avoid this thread for a while after July 15th, since I don't have the premium channel to watch BB Season 5. Don't want to read any spoilers.
-
For sure....it's been waaayyyy to long between seasons. I've worn out the buttons on my remote moving from one crap show to another (then just end up putting on a BB DVD). I suspect I won't have much luck finding anything I can stick with that's close to BB, so I don't even bother turning the tv on anymore....ugh....waiting, waiting, waiting. I think I might be starting to lose it!
-
LOL Gracie
-
I just remembered something funny. When my kids were younger they used to love Malcolm in the Middle (not my cup of tea, but whatever, I watched with them 'cos I was their mom). Now that they're just as much in to BB as me, they always call Bryan Cranston "Red Hal"...a reference to Ross on "Friends" when he was playing rugby and going all "Red Ross" on the field. I've heard it so much I often forget to call his character Walt.
-
Elimar, I just went out and bought a DVD recorder today so I can start recording the episodes....tonight there are 3 on from Season lV and they start at 2:00 AM....I cannot keep up this routine and go to work so I decided to invest in the DVD recorder. I can tape Season V for you and will send it to you so you don't have to wait very long to watch them. I figured there may be something else I need to record later so went ahead and bought the recorder. Had to look several places, but found it at Walmart.
Gracie, Isn't there anything else you like to watch? I really like the show Shameless, also BigC and Nurse Jackie. Sort of became disenchanted with Game of Thrones the 2nd season and can't say I like True Blood as much as I used to. That show with the newscaster looked like it would be good, but I have not watched it yet....if it even started. How about Mad Men?....that is the next one I am going to catch up on. When I can't find anything on tv, I like to read....do you like to read?
-
I agree with having to hold back on visiting this thread while watchin BB. It will be a few days past the original air date before I will be able to watch the current week episode. I have been "spoiled" by a Mad Men reference already & don't want that to happen with BB.
I was not impressed with Newsroom tonight. I will try the next one or two episodes to give it a fair shot.
-
I'm more of a movie girl, so I only watch a few tv shows here and there. I've become jaded by tv in the last few years I think. All of these "staged" reality shows get on my nerves. A&E, HISTORY and DISCOVERY used to be my favourites, but now it seems like they've just been taken over by junk. I do still like Deadliest Catch (can't fake that stuff!), Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs. I love watching Chopped on the FOOD channel. Quite the learning experience, that show is. Shows you that you can make dinner out of any old thing you've got laying around the house. I tried getting into Mad Men but it didn't last. I've been spoiled by Breaking Bad. Everything else pales in comparison
. I used to love to read, but lately, with vision problems and everything else, I don't do it as much as I'd like. I checked out Newsroom too....couldn't get into it. We'll see.ETA: I did happen to see an episode of The Big C...didn't care for it much. I try to avoid shows about cancer, but Walt throwing his "HOPE" button in the garbage...that was a great tv moment for me. It's exactly what I would do if someone handed me one.
-
Did you guys get "Trailer Park Boys" in the U.S.? That's another series I followed through to it's conclusion. Definately not everyone's taste, though.
-
Haven't seen that one. I used to watch a Canadian series at four in the morning (when i had insomnia,) that centered around a convenience store/gas station. forgot the name already.
Getting ready to watch 2012 UEFA Cup Finals (soccer.) I'm not much of a sports watcher, but I do like my soccer and I watched the semi-finals during the week. The finals teams are Spain and Italy, and I'd never pass up the opportunity to view some strapping young Mediterranean man-candy.
-
I think I know which show you're talking about....Corner Gas. Our Canadian content, for the most part, stinks. Trailer Park Boys though was really good, very funny and ended up spawning two feature films. You must have been pretty desperate to watch Corner Gas. Hope it put you to sleep at least.
5 more days! Whoooooo-hoooooooo! Just caught the trailer for the new season; Walt and Saul having words.
OT: watched the remake of Last House On The Left last night. Jessie was one of the thugs. OMG, he can play a scary dude for such a sweet guy.
-
Well, you women got me hooked on Breaking Bad and have ruined me for television.....am not watching anything until that starts again this coming weekend.....I want to check out that hometown security show that is on AMC also on Sunday...the woman in the previews looks like a real character.
I have now gotten into Mad Men....one of my friends bought me a DVD of the lst season and I watched all of them this past weekend when I was at my Dad's. I think it is a good show, very good acting, but I must say I do not find any good qualities in most of the characters yet....maybe they develop some or more about them comes out in the following seasons. Did all that really go on in the workplace, you think? I have like four more seasons to go of it so am going to check with the library on those today to see what the wait time is.
I think someone was telling me Skyler used to be in Deadwood and they named several things Jesse has been in, but I was not familiar with them.
-
Tonight's the big night.....know you will be watching Gracie.
I want to watch that Hometown Security which looks like sort of a quirky little show in the previews, but it starts at 11 PM...and this is the premier of it. What kind of a time is that I ask you....maybe I am just showing my age, but for people who have to get up and go to work, that seems like a pretty strange hour for a new television show.
Will check in tomorrow to see what everyone thought of BB tonight.
-
Name of that show is Small town Securities....am amazed I was awake to see it since I fell asleep during BB....but it was on three times so I just left the tv on, dozed on and off and think I may have seen it all.....although I am not sure what happened with Hank after the lst 15 min segment so if they showed him again, I probably did miss some. It was a busy weekend and I was really tired so not really up to late night viewing.
-
I have to say I was a little disappointed. If it weren't for the magnet thingy (hilarious) and Saul, of course, I wouldn't have felt I missed anything at all. I actually said to myself 'maybe this should have ended where it ended last season'. Then I thought 'what the hell am I thinking? What would I watch?' I hope next week is better. Walt seems to be heading towards caring less about the money and more about the power. Could be interesting....hopefully.
-
Yes, I watched Breaking Bad anyway last night, even tho' I didn't quite catch up on all the Season 4 episodes, and then I dozed off for ten minutes in the middle. (Apparently, I have officially joined the "doze off in front of the t.v." generation. Remember, it used to only be our parents? Should I be sad, or accepting?) I wasn't disappointed because I don't know how they left it at the end of last season. I haven't been cliff hanging all this time. Well, Gracie, I agree. Walt has gone further to the dark side, power tripping, and not just business-wise. Like how he "forgave" Skylar...but considers himself above reproach. He's not just breaking bad, he's broke down, busted bad now.
p.s. Just found out BB Season 4 is on Netflix streaming now.
-
Has anyone see Perception, the new series? I cant seem to find it when its advertised to be on. My fiance and I are watching the new Wormhole series. Anyone watch that? We are kind of geeky I guess but I am computer illiterate. Just tired of trying to explain the word accrual to clients at work. I feel the American educational system has flunked and/or the public edu grads sit the back of the room playing on the iphone and got Cs for grades.
-
Ahem! Don't slag off the public school grads! They don't hold the exclusivity for being undereducated. What I mean is every educational system has graduated their fair share of morons.
I've watched a few Through the Wormhole episodes, when I am in a mood for it. The one thing I really got out of the Wormole series is that I missed my calling as an exobiologist, because I could theorize about the possibility of extraterrestial life all day long.
-
Big Brother started Last Sunday, One of my fav. in the summer. I think it is going to be really good this year .

-
Got caught up on Breaking Bad new season love how his wife is now scared of him.
-
I have enjoyed The Closer since its first season and am watching the final episodes with mixed feelings - will surely miss Brenda Leigh even though the rest of the characters will continue on in a new show called Major Crimes. Last night's ep had an infusion center as a murder scene, which I admit piqued my interest. I had to run an errand in the middle of the show and didn't get home before it ended. DH watched the while thing and told me that based on the message conveyed about chemo, maybe I wouldn't want to finish it. So, I haven't yet watched it. Has anyone? I took it from DH that part of the message conveyed was, chemo does more harm than good, yada, yada. If true, while I know this is TV, that is a message that does not help me.
Just curious if anyone else caught it. -
Elimar, you are so right, even the PHDs and MD cant get right all the time. Sometimes,i am at work and right in the middle of explaining something about the remainder man in the trust my mind just gets up and goes home without me. Thats when I start coughing and reach for my water, hoping the clients lose their train of thought also.
With all this BC going on and menopause, its a wonder I am in my right mind. Wormhole had previously inquired into astrophysics and such. This season they seem to be tackling the philosophical issues. i am not too crazy about such, I am trying to watch Love Broker while fiance is trying to watch Wormhole or a public TV program about the penquins and their issues at the pole.
-
I was not sure about this season of Breaking Bad, but really liked the 2nd show of this season, just have a difficult time staying awake to watch an entire episode. I actually got sucked into watching the final episode of the Bachelorette even though I had not been following it.....she didn't even give the one guy a chance to meet her daughter and I was really feeling bad for him since he seemed to be heartbroken when she told him she was going for the other guy. I was reading the stats on those shows and only two of the couples have actually stayed together. Ah, well, that's Hollywood for you and I am sure most of them are in it just for the $$$$s.....and there are fools like me who watch . Lately, I have been watching Mad Men....am picking up the 3rd season from the library today. Can't say I have really been watching much tv other than Breaking Bad.....oh and I also have watched the Smalltown Security show right after it.....that woman is a real character. I did watch White Collar with my neighbor one evening just to see this guy she raves about...Matt Bromer, I think......very handsome. He is being considered for the role of Christian Gray in 50 Shades .
