Good thing about Ebola-  the odds of you contracting it are nil. Even if you are in the same room with someone that has it. There HAS TO BE bodily fluid contact. You have a higher chance of being hit by space debris than contracting it.

I can't fathom the logic- if you can't take care of a dog, how can you take care of a kid? If you give one dog away like this- you should never be allowed to have another. That kind of crap makes my blood boil.

on a more pleasant note: i sent the painting i did for FBB to her family, and her husband sent me a really nice thank you card. It was super sweet of him to take the time to do that. I hope they are all finding some comfort in knowing that she touched a lot of people in a positive way.

Okay....  Morning gals!  Ha, ha Spookie....  YOU were busted!  I didn't want to say anything,  but your "Berns" explanation just didn't DO it....

LilGoats said it first.... I was going to wait, and see if anyone else noticed!  Because I thought, well maybe she knows what she is talking about....  Ha!

You guys I didn't EAT that.... My breakfast was those HUGE bisquits topped with homemade gravy, and 2 eggs...  But the plate was full....  And it came with fruit... and a sprig of Rosemary on top!

I love fried chicken, but I don't make it anymore...  I used to soak it in Buttermilk for about an hour...  Then roll it in flour, until it's all coated, and let THAT sit for about 15 minutes on waxed paper....  Then heat a big black cast-iron skillet with about 1/2 inch of oil or Crisco, until HOT, then lay the pieces in there, and cook until browned....  THEN carefully turn it over.... but only once...  ONCE..... Not twice!  Only turn it ONE TIME...  Do not cover the skillet either....  My Grandma said.

OR another way is to flour the chicken pieces, fry it in "not so much oil"  with sliced onions....  until it's all browned.  THEN slowly cover it with water, and let simmer, turning occasionally, until it's all gravy-like and tender.    You can add potato pieces the last 1/2 hour.... Or make your own mashed potatoes.

I'm so glad that dog has a home....  I can't stand people who don't think they want their dog!  Or who don't take care of their pets!  My DD just officially got "Tooter".... this sweet cat who adopted HER !   These moron neighbors have too many pets, and just lost their house, so asked Janie if she would keep him...

Well HELL, he has been staying at her house for the last year!  She made him his own bed, outdoors, but now he has taken over her house, trying to pester her other cat... He is soooo sweet...  We've all nearly fallen over him, because he is always around our feet!

Thanks Sass for offering...  guess we all think alike.

Yes!  Who is sick?  Do I have to go back a page?  Take Mucinex, or even those nasal-rinses?  And ClaritinD...  And drink lots of hot things!  Don't cough...  It hurts too much, and you can break a rib, if you wear an underwire bra!   I did that....  I also like Nyquil.... it helps that cough, when nothing else will.

I love reading you guys!   MOMOM...  just don't do Nothin'!  There!  That's solved.

Chevy, you crack me up. Ok I've been awake for a couple hours, knew I'd find someone here. Some nights I can sleep through, but when I'm wide awake at 4 am, I may as well just get up. So me & my coffee and my sweet Rose, who is so beautiful after being groomed yesterday, she's sitting in the other recliner. (When I was dxed and we knew I'd need a comfy recliner for recovery and our den furniture was shot, DH fount this pit group, one end has a chaise and the other has a pair of recliners – electric! – and I sit in one and the other was supposed to be for DH but he mostly sprawls all over the chaise end and Rose sits in the other recliner.) I can't believe she still has bows on her ears, usually either she or her brother will have demolished them by now! I took this yesterday. I love my Rosie, dog of my heart. I'm not the best mom, especially when I'm sick, but if would never consider letting her go.

I have a 6 month check with my BS.  I like how that sentence could be taken two ways.  I think I found a new hobby.  I'm going to try some custom framing.   My sister takes beautiful photos and some are unusual sizes.  I've made some furniture over the years bit want something smaller that i can do in the warmth of the house.

Morning all!!  We did get some terrible weather last night, it didn't do any damage that I've heard about, but boy was it noisy!  Couldn't sleep through it and just when I'd like to be lurking around here, we had no internet service due to that nasty weather, so I just sat around bored until it past, then back to bed and now I'm a zombie because I didn't get enough sleep!

I still wish I could take, what I consider to be, my "granddog"!  Heck he was my first!  But it's just impossible right now!  I'm still heartsick about all of this!  However, one detail that I have omitted until now is that the family that he is going to is actually related!  We are not close, but we have contact through facebook and I think he will be OK, but I have made it VERY clear that if for some reason they find that they can not keep him, they are to let ME know and at that point, I'll make arrangements if I have to force my Son to take him back! I won't have him passed to another stranger, and if son would refuse, then DH and I will be add odds because he WILL come to me!  This family has a little girl that had a Boston Terrier and he got sick, something that is common to this breed, and passed so they were trying to find another little dog for her but didn't want to go through the training if they didn't have to!  They live on 17 acres and I think he will be fine, but it still hurts!  The little girls dad is my 2nd cousin, but as kids, due to be close in age, we were raised more as cousins, but because of time and distance we haven't stayed in close contact!  But thanks to facebook, we have been back in touch for several years!  They live close enough that if I wanted, I could make a day and check out that he is ok, but I think that may confuse him!  Just don't know yet!    She has promised to send us updates and photos and if she doesn't, I will point blank ask!  I'm like that!

Anyway, I'll try to make this my last post about this, I'm sure you all are probably tired of it by now!

    Good luck Dutch!!

Spookie, love your little one!!!  Heck, I love all pets!  I can watch movies about people and never shed a tear, but let the movie be about any type of animal being abandoned, hurt or mistreated and I cry like a baby!  Heck, I can't even watch Rudolph at Christmas without crying!  I even cry during the 101 Dalmations!  I'm such a sap!

    Happy Friday!!

dutchris-speaking of hobbies, I've been wanting to "try" to pain/refinish furniture for a long time now. I have never done it, but want to try :) The perfectionist in me says don't even bother because you're gonna screw it up, but I'm tired of listening to that. Anyway, just thought I'd share lol

I have an old dining room table that was actually the same one that we had when I was growin up. It's solid wood and in decent shape. I better start with something smaller right? :)

    spookie-sorry you aren't feeling good :(

chevy I LOVE fried chicken and that sounded sooo good!

I'm glad it is Friday. It's been a long week and I'm still trying to get the morning routine down of getting my 5 year old off to school. I'm walking her to school so that adds to the hecticness.

    ((hugs))

Thank you Nettie for the good luck.

Tang, share away.  Restoring/refinishing furniture is not something I have the energy or patience to do.  My first FIL did it so well.  And yes, I would say start smaller :)

The hospital called and set up my latest CT Scan. Just waiting for them to call back and register me! Worst part of the CT Scan is that I hate the crap they give you to drink!

Nettie I wanted to say something about your walking deal. Are you saying that it doesn't hurt after just during?

I started walking my youngest to school and during the walk I'm usually okay, its after that I'm worn out and hurting. I'm assuming it is just residual from the chemo still. Anytime I get up from a sitting or laying position it hurts, my knees, feet and ankles. I HOPE this stops, but idk. My back hurts too, if I've been up washing dishes or any housework it hurts. bleh, I feel like it's gotta improve right? :)

mommy-good luck on the scan! I've never had to drink anything..just had stuff put in by port or IV that makes me feel like I'm gonna pee myself LOL

Yes Tang, mine only hurts during the walking and it starts within just a few minutes of "exercise" walking!  And if I stand at my sink to do anything, wash dishes, clean veggies, anything, my back will feel like it's on fire!

And also, as soon as I stop walking, the pain immediately stops!  Now as for the back pain, that takes a while to go away and as I'm sure you've read on this thread, I've had back issues since the end of Rads, but Doctors keep telling me there is no need to scan!

Smarrty, soooooooo true LOL. Spookie and I both have Birenstocks toeless, just so we can where socks

Tang, I used to do furniture when I was young. If you can afford it have someone else strip it. There is no fun or creativity in the stripping. Just mess. The fun comes from staining if you choose to stain. Stain is method of choice when there's more than one type of wood. With a piece that is all one type of wood, consider just clear coating. I used to use polyurethane-- 3 coats. Sand in between with steel wool with the grain. First sanding--zero steel wool, second sanding--00 steel wool, third sanding 000 steel wool.  The sanding between coats is meant to sand off the dust that landed. Leave at least 48 hours -72 hours between coats. Polyurethane b/c it's waterproof. Three coats is a very solid surface. Minwax products. Disposable sponge brushes reduces clean up and streaks. Use one brush for each coat then pitch. Have heard that there are durable products that can be applied in one coat, but not familiar with them or how they look or feel when done. If they really work, they'd be great.

Ebola: The press is castigating Presby. Too bad. It's really NIH and CDC that should be taking the hit. There should have been National Practice Guidelines for Infectious disease for management of this. There are bugs and then there are bugs. Everyone has your regular bug protocols. Ebola is way beyond normal practice.

If such guidelines exist, they must be sitting on a shelf getting moldy. The POSITIVE is there will be a national effort to take everything learned from this and guidelines from A_Z will be written. The reason this is true is----A national guideline wouldn't leave any details out. i.e what to do with the trash. OOps.

Why in Africa can they know in 12 hours if someone's blood tests positive and here confirmation happens in two days b/c it has to be sent to the CDC.------ Now someone will produce a rapid test like the Strep and Mrsa tests.

I remarked before about the numerous times they said the Nurse didn't notify. That it was put in the electronic record.  AND I remarked that the doc did't read the nursing record. DUH. Presby saying that it didn't flow over to the Doc's record. They are totally avoiding the fact that the docs should have been reading /reviewing the nursing record. They don't. Always PO'd me that all the ER/ Floor time spent doing that extensive documentation and no one reads it. (Some docs do). Anything really important would be verbally said. Shouldn't be, but it is what is.

No one's analyzing the process that the Doc used on the Thurs. visit. Was it an appropriate exam or sloppy?

Now soooooooo many people are going to be admitted in the forseeable future to CYA.

Mags!  You crack ME up.... !  Ha, ha!  We have to keep our eyes on these girls.... they just run rampant if we aren't watching....  What was that Spookie was talking about again?  What were we supposed to Google?  Something about a Restaurant?  Or is she just trying to fluff over her flub?

And Nettie, if we have to come out there and straighten out all those people, we WILL!!  I mean what kind of people are these?    Don't they know that our pets are our kids? And I LOVE the little Black  one!  Ah Geez, if I go back a page to find her name, I will lose this....  But she is beautiful with her bows!

Sass?  The Press is castrating the Pres?  Is that what you said?  Or Presbyterian?  I don't exactly know what we are talking about....

Ebola.... okay.... But they all say.... even Smarty says, that you have to come in direct contact with this sick person.... I mean CLOSE!  It just doesn't sound that pertainable to me....  I have to get Cammi to weigh in on this....  Maybe we should be worried, but I'm not right now....

And Spook?  WHAT?  You are feeling puny?  What is wrong with you?

Okay.... I have to go look busy doing something......

Sas-it sounds like alot of work to refinish...haha, maybe I'll try something REALLY small first.

I saw that the hospital was trying to blame the mistake on their software. It seems to me that if someone came in presenting those symptoms and said they are from Liberia...that it would be a huge alarm! idk, I'm not experienced with how the ER works, it just seems very hard to understand how it happened. When I've gone into the ER I've had to tell 3-4 people including the doctor why I'm there and what the circumstances are.

nettie-I feel you on all of the walking/housework thing. It sucks and while I am ready to kick start life again, my body is just not quite there yet.

btw ladies, I am forcing dh to the doctor tomorrow. I've been on him this last year because he has diabetes and doesn't take care of it at ALL. He told me that twice this week he's felt sweaty, dizzy and really tired at work. I said that is it you are going. Tomorrow he's seeing the doctor and he's scared he's gonna get yelled at. He's a baby....He never would have made it thru BC tx! anyway...I love the goof and can't have him getting sick on me.

Oh now Spookie....  I love ya honey.....  don't go gettin' all upset....  SOME of our Husbands are a real PITA!   But like me, we are in it for the long haul.  My DH will not go to the Doctor either Tang.... unless we can't "fix" what is wrong with him....  Like I didn't study in that class about how to put in a pacemaker, so he had to have a surgeon do it.

No kidding!  It got to where he had NO energy.... he could barely climb stairs... so after 2 weeks, he decided, that yes, okay, let's go get it checked out.  Pacemaker the next morning, before he fell over on his head.

It has to be a matter of life or death before he will go....  So I figure he is a big boy now, so it's all on him....  Tell ME when you want to go.... I'm tired of listening to him complain about his little things.... I mean the things that are "wrong" with him.... cause he just says, he is going to die anyway someday...

So he has a different attitude than I do....  But I don't let it pull me down.....  Onward and upwards friends....  Take care of yourself, and DLTBGYD!

After 57 years, I finally feel like I AM IN CHARGE!!!!!
