that's what we need Allison. Reminds me of fantasia.....that was a trip..lol
-
Dentist was nice, news was not. I apparently ruined my teeth by drinking Gatorade and caused my teeth to collapse under my crowns.I drank it all the time this past four years.
-
Phylo! You're back again! When you need to wander around the country go to Chevys. The stuff is legal there, don't want you to tangle with Big Whatshername !!!!!!
-
ohhhh gingerbread, I am so sorry...didn't even know that could happen.now u prob have many appointments with the dreaded dentist:(
-
NOT SELF, welcome....jump on in anytime, hang chit on Chevy or Lilshit or me....tells us a little about yourself. You can see this is a crazy, loving, supportive group.
Alyson, thanks for the Aussie explanation of Chevster rambling. Hope your trip is going well.
Gingerbrew, I have heard Gatorade can be hard on the teeth, but chemo is very toxic on our teeth. My dentist had me come in every month & get a fluoride treatment during chemo. And this is the amazing part, he did not charge me for it. I was so grateful for his generosity. I love to get my teeth cleaned, but like most, Iwould rather have surgery than a root canal.
So, do we have a Bonnie.....?
-
Phylligrahmcracker is back! Come to the tea party and bring your paintball gun!
I have lots of things to say and no time, but just so you all don't think I'm the only one who sees weird phallus things, (Susan and her water bottle!) this photo was going around facebook today! Ha..ha..
-
Susan, Toolies meant countryside, away from civilization, remote places, places with few people. Someone might say a person was from the toolies, meaning small town far away. Or you might drive out in the toolies with boyfriend to make out away from prying eyes. Chevy and I must be from the same part of the country or something. Or the same age group perhaps (she's a little older, but only a little).
Ginger, Do dentists approve of drinking anything besides water? It seems like everything else is bad for your teeth, including milk. I used to take mylanta for stomach problems. My dentist was astounded that it hadn't rotted my teeth. Secret was that I hated the taste so much that I brushed immediately after taking it.
-
thanks wren.....hate it when I'm missing something...lol

Down here, we call somebody who is voluntarily intellectually deficient, a tool...something that has to be watched out for otherwise someone gets hurt.
They have the senior school break-up around November each year and due to the states having different break up dates, 'Schoolies' goes on for about a month on the Queensland Gold Coast.
So you have thousands of newly released 18 yr olds, who are legally allowed to drink, spending their first big break from their parents at the beach, celebrating. Some of them are younger than 18 and they need the older ones to buy/supply them with beer etc,. Although the GC is policed heavily, the toolies (older males who want to relive their own schoolies every year) take it upon themselves to be the suppliers of alcohol and drugs while also gaining access to the nubile young girls who get so drunk they don't know what day it is.
From the news stories at that time of year, it seems to be a continuing drunken riot for the whole week of each states' break up.
I'm glad my kids are grown up and out of all that as I would be a very worried mother if I had kids who wished to attend such an event.
Sheila.
-
Knew there must be an Aussie somewhere. We do use the term tool in much the same way. Always fascinates me the different uses of words.
-
Oh MORNing girls! Yes Sheilah, I read about "Schoolies" when I was frantically looking up "Toolies!" Ha, ha! Now see Susan? Wren nailed it! SHE knew! Maybe it was a local thing, but I didn't MAKE IT UP! Ha, like YOU guys did about the garden checharonies!
I remember when our Daughter's were growing up, and so scared about all the drinking and weed, and yes Alyson, those magic mushrooms! Sheilah, those kids were playing with fire, and hopefully no-one gets hurt, pregnant, or too drugged up!
Your explanation WAS funny though... I mean I can understand... MY girls didn't have the money to take off anywhere, like for Summer Break, but I'm sure they found a way to have fun!
Oh! Wren I remember one night, this "Doyle" asked if I wanted to watch the Ducks! So I thought to myself, but Ducks aren't around at night, are they? So we parked by the lake, and made-out.... No Ducks.... nary a one.... And all we ever DID was make out! Nothing more complicated... And so I know all you gals are saying, "Well, you know what SHE was!" Right?
And then we would go back to the drive-in and get a Chocolate coke.
Morning FBB! GOOD one! I sent it to my Daughters!
Now GGHIO, where is notself? I looked and looked! You welcomed her, and I can't even find her! Are you making that up too? That avatar is so funny! Phylli would love that! She lurks sometimes..... armed with her PBG! That's almost like PBJ.... okay, never mind.
Spookie.... yes.... all you guys that are into Willie's stash, just head on over here... I guess it is everywhere.... Me, being up on all that kind of stuff, and extremely intelligent and worldly, should KNOW more than I do about weed/grass/ and the availability.... But I kind of don't want to know.... I wear blinders.
Hi Ginger! I had no idea that Gatorade would do that! I'm more of a chocolate coke kind of gal.... now if THOSE don't wreck your teeth, NOTHING will! But I had to have all my top one's out about in 1975... (when I was a mere child) because they were just never any good... Even when I was a little goil, I was at the Dentist's. He used to give me 50 cents, when he was finished... I had 2 "tusks"... and my whole mouth only held 16 teeth... Not the whatever YOU gals have... So I had "bands" put on my teeth, 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled, and by the time I was maybe 35 they just kept breaking, and they had to give me new ones for the top. And then that was the best thing I ever did!
I remember this one gal I was working with said one time.... "You are so pretty, but your teeth are so ugly"...... And man, that hurt... So that's when I saved enough money, and had them done, whild DH was deer hunting for a few days....
So see? You can just go in and get new teeth, if the other ones give you any problems. My Lower teeth, all 7 of them, are hanging on for dear life!
Oh LittleGumby, YOU were in the Toolies too? Ha, ha! And who SAID I "might be older?" Are you KIDDING? I am probably older than all of you put together... Ha, ha!

Good Morning ll===OK now we have 2 Aussies so this should be interesting. and of course I'm so far behine and can't remember chit, but
Phylomissgoodie2shoes---that's really nice what u do--now do u cover u'r ankle bracelet so u seem normal at least?
And Chevy what are u turning this thread into-a dictionary? We never cared what we said made up or not notw we're being xhecked and I guess some words aren't really words, Ithought they were.
I hope everyone is doing all right and I love all the pics. Teka we'll miss u lots. if u'r serious
Oh and it's is so so true about chemo and u'r teeth cuz in interferes with bones and there are bones up there.
Chevy I have no fear about bladder cancer--I just want the test to be done right--after all she's putting a little camera upmy tiny pee hole but my problem is I want a whole camera crew, u know light, action camera, and the guy that holds that clip thingy that say pee on--take one and since I'm awake thru it u know I'm going to explain this to her and she'sll wish she put me out like all Drs. want to, but I don't always let them if I have a choice.I've just been in extra pain lately and it spasms and I can't move for a whil, well my upper 1/ can but my lower have has my eyeballs comeing out of my head--this is some newer lately, it's nothing really just aggrevating and what do I do when this happen. I laugh cuz I think OMG is this age or am I crazy, then I know it's both, but I don't tll my DD she's an ER groupy and I'd spend more time in there than at home so I just wait til the spasm leaves, well there's alsway another one coming anyway. So I really stya to myself. And I've been so busy on the phones my top half works, then I have to wait to use the computer so my calls are going in later but they're so nice about it, they don't care, I don't tell them either--OH OH I'm complaining again, why do I keep doing this---I think I want to explain why I'm not here as much maybe This pain is actually affecting my brain. So u know my brain is really in trouble. I'ts 1/2 empty now. But remember no of this is cancer--it is cancer related but not actual cancer so I'm lucky.

Ok, I'm going to ask a question that is probably going to make everyone think I'm weird! And just so you won't have to read the bottom, I finished chemo August 2013, rads Oct 4 2013!
Just wondering if anyone else has had a weird sense of smell? It's like sometimes, out of nowhere, I smell these awful smells, but when I "try" to find where it's coming from, I can't! It's like it's coming from inside. It will be there for just a second and then it's gone!
I'm posting this on multiple sites in hopes to have someone reply!
-
Ok, so what's up with BCO, it tells me there is a page 469, but will NOT let me go to it!!!!!Anyway, happy Friday ladies!! Hope everyone enjoys the weekend and thanks for the "toolie" explanations! Still not sure I understand it all!!
-
Ok, this is just weird, now it won't let me see my last post because apparently it is on page 469 which I can not access!!
Guess that means I better do some work!
-
-
Morning everyone!
-
Wow. This board is messed up. I keep seeing the same posts over and over and can't load the new ones. Weird!
Hope it straightens out soon.
Happy Friday and Weekend to anyone who can see this!
-
I can't get to last page, the site must be having issues.
-
I finally got to last page. If you other guys having problems, log out then back in. That worked. Of course if you can read this now, you fixed the problem?
So when I was a kid we used to go to the zoo and watch the submarines at the little pond. That was our toolie. Or we went out to the boonies.
-
Good morning Owlettes,
Cami, I'm so sad you are having pain. Sending a hug to you.
Hi Chevy, I remember parking out in the toolies....my gosh that was a long time ago for me.
So far, I haven't had any problems seeing the posts so I guess the bco site got it fixed. Thanks Smaarty for the morning coffee pic. Had my second iron infusion yesterday, but until I get more energy I'll be drinking lots of coffee.
Have to get ready for work. Enjoy your Friday everyone.
-
When I was young, here on the west coast, guys would ask if you wanted to go watch the submarine races. The intellectual wizard that I was, I said... but wouldn't they be under water? I don't think you could see them. And like Wren and Chevy - no civilization was the toolies - but maybe I hung around with Aussies, because we also referred to someone woefully stupid (see above description of self) as a tool.
-
Morning to all my BCO friends...
Cami, I had bladder spasms ( contractions ) after my surgery to remove 1/3 of my colon. It was horrific. I kept calling the Dr. Saying there was something wrong. They gave me the pee test, said no infection, just spasms. Well, those dropped me to my knees. I hope yours relaxes, or goes away cause that is just torture.
Chevster, Notself posted 2 pages back, said she has been here before. I noticed that NO one welcomed her or commented. Like the new girl at school that has to eat lunch by herself. I was hoping you would notice I was packing heat....he he he...I have never shot a real gun, but I did shoot my sons paintball gun once.
Nettie, I still get that super sense of smell occasionally. I felt like a coon dog during chemo.
FBB, great balloon image...
I am hitting the recliner today, watching the French Open and enjoying a pain pill & an ice pack. Power Port is a thing of the past....hoping the wound heals quickly, I have a busy schedule next week.
-
Netti, I gets the smells too. Not always yucky, sometimes nice, florals etc. or I'll look at the dogs, who always insist it was dad. It's weird!
-
I get the smells occasionally and I had neither chemo nor rads. I accused DH of using scented dryer sheets (which give me headaches). Sometimes it's unpleasant and we don't have dogs to blame it on.
This is a rant. The headline that an MRI before surgery does not reduce recurrence risk just drives me crazy. It's a test, not a treatment. It's looking for additional cancer sites that didn't show on other tests. It has nothing to do with recurrence, so why did someone get paid to study this instead of giving the money to people working on a cure? End of rant.
Cami, So sorry you're hurting. I don't know how you can even think of anything else. I have a friend who pretended she was being tortured and wouldn't talk to get thru the pain from a very badly broken leg. I think I would just break down and talk if it were me.
-
Ok, so I wrote two posts this morning on here and neither of them show up! WTH!!!! I have no idea what I wrote! Guess it wasn't so important! -
Wow, Cami and Chevy had long posts! Won’t try to understand them! But I certainly hate to hear that you are having such pain, Cami!
FBB – I thought I was losing my mind because it kept doing the same to me!
Thanks for the comments about the “smells”, maybe I’m not crazy after all!
-
Miss Cami,
I just reread your post. "It's nothing really".
Bologna.....I would want to be in twilight sleep for the scope, they put me out yesterday just to cut out the power port...Anesthesia has never bothered me, although I could not sleep last night. Which is trivial.
When are you starring in this pee hole flick? We will be hopping in your pocket, causing a ruckus...
-
no smell probs for me..I will throw a different weird one out...but I am not weird I say, I am not..ha ha
I have spidey sensitive hearing. You know Spider-Man....he was my hero when I was young...now I have his hearing ability on chemo.....I am sure it's perfectly normal...cause I am perfectly normal...and talking to much cause I am on pain meds today....
Holeinone.....yeah a fellow sports person.....watched part of the french open too. Who do you want to win? I watch almost any sport on...love them. So sad our hawks are out, but they had a great hockey year. And the cubs won 3 straight.....gotta throw a party for that one. Big golf coming up this weekend. Bet you will b following that. Ok I need to stop talking....pain meds give me sooo much energy...
