I hope I fall asleep soon. The whole body is in pain. Hate that when it happens
-
I would think it's difficult to fall asleep with uncontrolled pain. Aww Susan, Elena is not old enough to run for you to chase her around. Did you run another marathon? Hate it when you ladies don't feel well.
Ms. Wren, you mean the floor gets even harder? So you were tested for dyslexia. How do we know for sure if a person is dyslexic? Is transposing numbers one of the traits? Daydreaming? Reading a paragraph over a million times? Growing up I had a hard time learning. Maybe I was dropped on the head too many times.
Forward, I will take the aqua blue chair. I'm bringing iced kalamansi juice and National Geographic magazine.
-
Loverly, Transposing numbers is a prime trait of dyslexia. On the phone, the other person can give me their number. I write down something else entirely. Fortunately, I can still remember hearing it and that is the correct one.
Daydreaming and rereading paragraphs sounds more like ADHD, or even depression. When I was depressed, I could read a page and not be able to tell you a single word that was in it. I could guess and and the, but not remember them. I would think your experiences escaping and being a refugee might interfere with concentration.

Hey Y'all!
I've been here but got lost trying to find the horse in Jazzy's cowboy picture
I've been feeling better everyday and can now stand long enough to make a cup of tea and toast an English muffin at the same time - yay!
Loverly - No more falling! Especially down stairs. Glad you didn't need to be put back together again.
Susan - Hope your body aches will ease enough for you get some restful sleep.
Wren - My mom is dyslexic. When I was in 1st grade the teacher sent a note home with me asking for her to stop helping me with my writing. Just because of a few backward letters and numbers........ How fussy!
Patty - Love hearing about your adventures! Happy times with your menfolk & managable pain woo-hoo!
Mags - How is Rose doing? She looks so snuggy! Olivia has grown! Such a stunning little lady with her black stripe draped around her like a velvet collar
Sensi - Did you get to see Cyndi Lauper? Lucky Jazzy! That would be such a fun concert.
Smaarty - Yay for Evie time!
JunieB - Hip behaving? Updates from the breeder?
Sassy - Hope your nose is healing. Did you find new glasses yet?
Much love to everyone ~ will catch up more later
-
Geez, I take a nap and you ladies go hog wild on the posting. I didn't think I was gone THAT long.
Loverly - I sure hope your bum is better. We just don't bounce like we did when we were kids. Also, I can say from personal experience the Girls DO NOT work like air bags in a vehicle. So falling on them doesn't cushion the blow, so it's a good thing it was your bum. Hope you didn't suffer too many lasting effects. Sweet Mitsy was watching over you.
Speaking of Mitsy, I think I was the one who suggested the freeze-dried raw diet from "The Honest Kitchen", but since you think her allergies are environmental, have you considered getting Mitsy some "Muk Luk" booties for her footsies for when she's outdoors? Also, Dr. Mercola's site has Krill oil spray for dogs to ingest. Plus, I saw a recipe for home-made frozen dog treats yesterday. They consisted of coconut oil, peanut butter & cinnamon mixed together and poured into this cute ice tray that form paw print cubes, and I guess that you just toss one to the dog now and again.
M0mmy - I hope your reading went well today and you got to work on your project some as well.
WildT - Sounds like your a busy bee too.
Sheppie - Glad to hear you're on the mend. Toast and tea are a good start. I'm wearing the brace and so far hip is behaving. I see the Ortho on Monday. Also, no news yet from the breeder, other than what I posted previously. Puppies are due sometime in October, so we'll see.
Jazzy - So glad your cold is on its way out. It sucks to be all sneezy, congested and achy. Now where exactly was that horse? ;0)
Susan - I know that addiction is not an issue I need to be concerned about, but as I said, you hear/read so many stories of how people get there after an injury or surgery, that it just gave me pause.
Also, I am working on the 4th crib blanket using the same "Crown & Cable" pattern, but in different colors and am very bored with it, so the next one I am going to do in the "Gothic Leaf" pattern. I saw a really nice baby blanket on Ravelry.com in that pattern and remembered that I have the pattern and should give it a try.
Glad you had a fun Elena day.
Patty - You too, I am glad you were able to get out and enjoy a wonderful day with your family at the fair.
You ladies with family are so fortunate, even with the aggravations on some days.
Well now I am going to go to bed and hopefully sleep, since it is now (oh jeepers) 3:19 a.m.
Goodnight..
-
Good morning ladies!
Welcome Cuddy!
Sensi, How did round 3 go this week?
Smaarty, I hope you are having fun and getting lots of cuddles. When my kids were born they were 3.5 months early and once home from the hospital we had to be very careful about germs. Nobody could come over if they felt even a cold coming on, and they had to wash their hands before touching the babies. (Dr orders) I know this isn't the case with Ben, but it's hard being the one placing the restrictions too, for whatever reason. It's kind of you to be respectful of their decision.
Junie, Sounds like you are doing what you need to do to stay out of ER. Good girl! I think it's always good to give pause about possible addiction to drugs. I think some people have addictive tenancies and it can happen more easily. I am very aware of the possibility for myself, because of family history of addiction.
Sas, Thanks for the referral to the toradol block and opioids thread. I'll check it out, but...see above comment. I'm confused...Donnie is DH, right? You said he's out of doghouse..that's good. DH Greg a previous DH? I went to dentist for cleaning this week too, and I feel the same way you do! I have to go back next week for a filling.
Patty, Yes, I like to plan, but I don't consider it controlling. Necessary to keep everything straight! And just when I think I'm a good planner and try to make my pre-ops in plenty of time..I couldn't get in to see my cardiologist in the time frame, even planning 2 months out! I'll see one of her partners, though. Makes me wonder..how do those who do not plan manage to get appointments?
Susan, I'm sorry for your pain. I hope you were able to get some sleep.
Patty, so glad you were able to go to the fair with your family!
Loverly, I love the way you talk about your DD's..you sound so close to them. They are at difficult ages, 13 and spreading wings at college...talk about emotional roller coasters, I'm guessing. That math sure sounds like a challenge! That's the good thing about having kids with special needs..the academic expectations are different and I can still help with homework.
I'm so glad you didn't pop your boobs when you fell and that you are doing okay. One word for you...handrail!
Forward, I notice too many people, not just young ones, are challenged with math in retail situations. My mom taught me how to count out money when making change, from the days when registers did not tell you how much change to give. She was a waitress for many years and would pull change out of your pocket, count backward & to give to customer. Now this is a useful math skill! BTW, do you have a preferred nickname..I've seen Lookie, Forward..any fav?
Forward and Loverly, I'll take the hammock, presumably behind you, in the shade.
Sad that the only time I've seen a male body in the last 1.5 years has been pictures you all have posted. Don't even remember what it feels like to be kissed. The pics you choose make me drool!
My goals for today are to find my dining room table and my couch. One buried under paperwork, and the other laundry. I hate putting stuff away.
I hope everyone is feeling good today!!
-
Good morning friends- well, fall has moved in hard here with a cold front that brought us down into the 40s last night and cool morning waking up! It was also snowing up in northern NM late yesterday afternoon. Wow, right from summer in to what feel more like late fall now! Beautiful morning though and out early doing a few things before I head out for a plethora of errands and an apt. Going to have the last of my patio dinners tomorrow with some friends and then calling that done for the season!
The virus (vs. cold) moved through quickly although I am definitely dealing with some allergies. I have a large pink pampas grass in my backyard that blooms this time of the year, and makes me go "ah choo!" Only I would plant something big in my yard I am allergic too, but who knew? Anyways, Allegra D is my friend right now!
Getting excited for my vacation in two more weeks. Going to the Big Apple with my sister for five days, six nights. We have tickets to two musicals, a show at the Blue Note, and will do museums, shopping and eating. Got some family coming in for one day and a good friend for another. Suitcase is open and creative packing under way! I have spent a lot of time in the city through the years both visiting and working there some, but never spent a whole week there just for fun. We are going to go do the city, or the city may do us, will let you know!
Patty- I am glad to see you here and to know you had a good time at the fair. I hope your boys are doing well and enjoying the new school year?
Shep- so good to hear you are up and around some. Eating a bit too from the sounds of it. I hope you have good support around home as you heal.
Wildtulip- how are those feet of yours doing?
JazzyJune- thanks for checking on on my cold/bug. Are you feeling better?
Loverly- hope you are doing well this weekend too.
So many more here to say hi to like Mags, Sas, and other sisters. Wishing everyone a good last weekend of Sept. Dang that went fast!
-
Jazzy, OH MY...more details on your upcoming trip please! I want to live vicariously through you...I have always wanted to go to NYC. What musicals will you see? Are you staying at a fancy hotel? How exciting!! My feet..well, better than last week, but still hurting. I didn't work as much this week, and I think that has helped. I'm trying to notice patterns so that when I see my MO in a couple of weeks I'll be able to give him good info. When I wake up my feet are creaky, but then feel better after a few minutes. But, pain develops over time and the more I walk, the more I hurt. Sitting doesn't help, in fact it just stiffens me up. The only thing that really helps the pain so far is to lay down/put my feet up. I've accepted it's going to be a process to find the best solution to the pain.
-
Wildtulip- we are staying at the historic Waldorf Astoria, which is my sister's idea. I usually have stayed closer to Times Square, but she wanted to do it and we also learned the hotel is going to be converted into condos next spring so this will be my first and last chance to do this spot. Always been on my bucket list so I told her I was in!
Besides that, we have tickets to see Beautiful (The Carol King Musical) and Waitress on Broadway, and also going to see the Dizzie Gillespie All Stars at the Blue Note in the Village. We will be going to the MOMA, The Whitney Museum, and the 911 Memorial and Museum. The last one is most important to me as I was in the city in 2001 three months after the towers came down and it was still a recovery site. I will never forget that experience, not something you can really explain. But going back to see what they have done feels like a must do. Everyone said to do that one last because it's heavy, so we will go on Friday before we leave. Other plans to hit shopping on 5th Ave, the Carnegie Deli, and the Rainbow Room. We are going to go pack a lot in including connecting with some family and one friend while we are there too.
Been thinking about my feet and all the walking. I am bringing my best walking shoes but my sister is a fast walker. She knows about my foot issues, we were on a trip together in 2013 when they were at their worst. She had bc also, same time as me but does not take AIs. No one an understand how these drugs cause our bodies such problems.
My feet are stiff in the morning too so I try to stretch them first thing in the morning. Mine too get more sore as the day goes on. Hard to be us?
-
Ms. Wren, I have always had problems with staying focus in class or a meeting. It is truly a miracle I graduated from college. I don't think I have depression, but I do feel down down once in awhile (usually not without a reason). This describes me:
"I decided to wash my car. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the hall table. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trashcan under the table, and notice that the trashcan is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I find the bottle of coke that I had been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, we will be looking for the remote, but nobody will remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.
I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm bottle of coke sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail. -
ShepK, I am so glad you found your way back. That's pretty good I guess for one week post-op. I hope you are doing what you are supposed to do. Praying for speedy healing so you can go back to doing what you love. Hope you have the support you need so that you can just concentrate on getting better. Have you noticed the difference in pain/numbness or it is still too early to access? How are your fur babies?
JunieB, I really appreciate your input on helping me caring for Mitzy. Just want to let you know that I have read the articles from Mercola you suggested awhile back regarding skin issues in dogs. I like the new Vet. Some of what he recommended is similar to the ones in the articles. I get side tracked easily so if I don't respond, please remind me. Same with correction. I have no problems with it. I am so glad your hip stays where it belongs. The weather should be getting cooler soon. Hope that wearing the brace is more manageable. How is your tummy?
WildT, did you find your table and couch? I get anxious when the house is a mess. I had a dream (actually nightmare) last night that my house was a mess and then again during my nap this afternoon. Woke up from my nap not feeling rested at all. Grrrr. Yes, I should remember to use the stairrail. The last few times I didn't hit the floor because my hand was hanging on to the rail. I did manage to hit my lower back against the bullnose edge one time. I could have been worse if I didn't hang on to the rail. DH slipped one time too. So you see I am not that clumsy. Hope your MO can help you with the pain in your feet. Sounds like standing over a long period of times at workworsen it.
Jazzy, have a fun and safe trip in NY. Waldorf Astoria is a nice hotel. Wow! So many places to see. Were you in NY or a different state in east coast last year for a wedding? Please take lots of pictures to share with us. Did you know that NY was the first state we set our foot on? Talk about culture shock.
-
Jazzy, Oh I SO want to jump in your suitcase now. It sounds like a perfect trip! Everything you have planned sounds right up my alley. It does, however, sound like a lot of walking and I hope you don't suffer as a result. Despite the good shoes, you may have to plan some time in the busy schedule for self care..yoga/stretching. The AI's are such a double edge sword. The 911 memorial will be emotional, I'm sure.
There is a song from Waitress that I really connect with, "She Used To Be Mine." It has sort of been one of my theme songs from the moment I heard it. On the one year anniversary of my Dx, my therapist gave me the lyrics in a frame. I'll see if I can link the video. It starts out, "It's not simple to say, most days I don't recognize me.."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DToejUka-XU
Loverly, I think if I stopped the mail for a week and we were naked, then I would catch up with the paperwork and laundry. Till then, a constant on going process! I'm really lacking ambition these days, and the lure of the internet kept me busy last night, so I made some progress, but not enough. I have some attention issues, but not nearly what you described. I can't imagine how you get anything done..must be frustrating. I hope you and DH stay on your feet!
Shep, thinking of you and hope you are able to check in soon. Healing hugs!
-
jazz fun trip...have a great time!!
Lover....funny story. I have trained myself to say noooooo, go back to what I was doing . And now I make a list , so I can cross off stuff, and not forget I did that. Rally don't want to wash the floors twice :
-
Lover sounds like you are like me
-
-
Shep wonderful news that you are able to stand , I bet that cup of tea and English muffin tasted very good. Each day you will heal a little more and you will soon be at the beach digging your toes in the sand.
Junie -wow- you are a pro knitter, I'm still at the dishcloth stage. My daughter wants me to make some for her friends for Christmas , thankfully she didn't say what year. I have decided to do a few Christmas craft shows to keep myself busy.
WIldtulip you can call me whatever you want. I hope you find a solution for your feet problems, you are too young to be hobbling around . It's also affecting your quality of life. I agree with you going to New York would be nice.
I had a abundance of tomatoes this year , so this afternoon I'm making tomato marmalade and chile sauce. Last night I made peach jam.
-
Loverly, I can SO relate. There is a ADHD/ADD society that publishes helpful articles about strategies you can use to try to stay on topic. I discovered once that not getting dressed kept me from going outside or anywhere else, helped me get something done in the house.
-
lookforward, have fun with your tomatoes
I have an abundance too. My daughter is enjoying them very much. This year my body decided to break out in hives from them. I wish my body would have a discussion with me first. I would have a lot to say.
-
We had loads of tomatoes too, still getting them in abundance.
Shep best wishes for continued recovery.
-
Sending love and hugs out to all of you. I hope you have a good day!
-
Good morning, afternoon, and evening.

-
Popping in to say hello. Haven't been on or lurking much. Round 3 has been mild for me, but I definitely am feeling more tired than anything.
Jazzy-Love the voice-I was disappointed that the debates recorded tonight instead of "my" show. Thankfully it just came on, so I'm going to stay up and watch now. Do you have a favorite coach? Hope you have a wonderful trip to the Big Apple.
Lover-yes, Chance is taking good care of his mama and spends lots of time on the couch with me. Also makes sure I get him to the dog park or a short walk. I'm way behind...can always remind DH, piercing are removable.....a tattoo would be permanent
. Hope you are healed from your fall and lol at washing the car. Maybe if you wash the car, we'll get some rain...we sure could use it.
Smaarty-Did you have a good visit with DGD and Evie? How's Ben? How much longer till you get to see him? When do you leave for your trip?
Cuddly- Welcome
Susan-hope your pain is improving
Shep-Yes! Felt good enough and went to concert with my roommate. Was good to get out, but I was pooped the next day. I even found $30 dollars on the bathroom floor. She had some new music that I'm not as fond of, but still was a good time.
JazzyJune-how's the hip?
Hope everyone else is well, Sorry if I missed anyone. Have a great week all.
-
So tired and emotionally spent this morning. Yesterday my stepdad's side of the family said our final goodbyes to my uncle who passed recently. Hadn't seen his daughter and oldest son in a long time even though I keep up with them with FB. The worst part about the whole thing was when they rendered military honors complete with the 21 gun salute for him because he was a Vietnam vet. It really hit me hard at that point that he was gone. I cried for about the first 30 minutes of the ride home last night while my hubby just kept telling me to go ahead and let it out while he was driving. Still having a crying jag this morning after running across a picture I have of my step-grandparents and their kids back when I was in 8th grade. Hate that the only time I see family I hadn't seen in a while is at funeral
-
Sensitive- yes, the debates instead of The Voice; one painful to watch and one pure fun. That one debate was enough for me to watch, I know who I am voting for. Next one is the day we are flying into NYC, so we will be sitting at some fab restaurant having dinner vs. watching the tube.
Favorite coach? I like both Adam and Blake, but if I were on this season and had a choice, I would choose Alicia Keyes. That girl is on fire!
-
mommyof2, your hubby is right, good to let it out. It's a nice release for emotions. You probably aren't done yet. And yes it is said to see our family members at funerals and weddings.
Morning all
Have a great day
Going off to play with Elena . I just pretend in front of Claire that I am not in pain. Gonna be hard today. And it's not that she can't handle it, I don't want her to treat me in a delicate fashion and not ask me to babysit. So,it's time to suck it up and go have fun with Elena. Yeahhhhhhhh that sure eases my aches and pain
-
Ms. Wren, thank you. Will look into the articles from ADD/ADHD. Maybe, I will find some tips to pass it on to DDs. I think they both may have it also. DD told me a few times that she can't pay attention in class and her mind wonders. When DD2 was much younger she could not sit still while doing her homework. She would get up several times to walk around to get her energy out. Unlike me, they both have managed to do well in school. Maybe swimming and piano somehow have helped them. I just thank God they don't struggle like me.
Enerva, always nice to see you popping in. You own a motorbike? Wow! Have always wanted to try, but too chicken. DH used to have what they called a Ninja? This was before we met. I am happy with just a moped. Sorry the side effects of treatment prevent you from enjoying that part of life. Hey, we have a few knitters here. Just found out Queenie also knits which is weird ( I know I shouldn't stereotype, Queenie, but don't we all do?). I am sure the ladies would love to see your work as much as I do.
Awww Susan, how can we not love you? Wish I could hug you. (Queenie, next time Susan invites herself to your place, could you give her a hug for me?). Blessed time with Elena.
Mommy, you got a good DH there. I think I told you this before.
Sensi, good to hear you were able to go to the concert. Did it bring back a lot of memories? Amazing how music can bring you back to the same place when it first stirs your heart. Glad to hear Old Man Chance is taking care of you.
Jazzy, the debate was painful to watch. I prefer to watch the Voice-at least the comedy doesn't affect our kids' future. Sorry for the sarcasm. DD is old enough to vote this year.
Feline, I am glad I have company. Oh, before I forget.....I really enjoy all the photos you have shared. I want to learn how to take photos in a way that will cause a person to take in a deep breath and be reminded of the beauty that is surrounding us. Someday, someday.
Hello and hugs to my other friends. Hope your pain is manageable. Love to all.
Boy, that only took me more than an hour to write.
-
Thanks guys. He called me from work to check on me. He knows how hard that my uncle's passing has been on me
-
Enerva: good luck with the job hunt and the school and the knitting
Lover: where'd you find my baby picture? (hair's being particularly hedgehoggy today)
