Loverly, if saying sex bothers you, you can say Essex like Patty, and I.
Patty, whootie whoooo.
Meadow the fault line goes all the way up into Ohio. Surprised there was no word that they felt it. There is another problem area in Ashtabula area on the lake in northeast, Ohio. We had a couple with the epicenter there. Then the one shaker came from your way. One time I was writing an earthquake disaster plan for my old hospital. Two RN's had just moved from California, with the goal to be able to get away from quakes. The boss suggested they may be helpful. Then we have one right after they hired in. They weren't real happy, but the were small shakers compared to what they had lived through.

Hi friends, I just wrote this response on a thread that's not likely in your favs. But the safety angle is a useful concept to get medical folks to do what you want. The OP is getting a port removed and had lot's of anxiety. My goal was to give her strategies to get it done the way she wanted.

Howdy Shep

Sass: yes (or is that no?), you're absolutely correct. I'm not done with the BC boards, just more that I've declared "There are no other shoes to drop, so I'll get on with life." Which involves an attempt at the local community college, to see if I can either springboard into (another) graduate degree, or simply gain marketable skills.
-
jazz, very cool Egyptian room. Was anyone in the sarcophagus
Lover , great pic
Queenie, good luck with your employment strategy
Wildtulip, hope you get through the virus quickly. Mine was 10 days. Musiinex and NyQuil...don't know if they helped. It was a Wierd virus, went from sick to not sick. No starting to get better, it was just over and done with one morning. Really strange
Sensi, hang in there...can chance cook?? Wouldn't that be cool
Jeanq , I had both removed . But let me explain......ever since I can remember I would open my Christmas presents before Christmas and carefully rewrap, read end of book first, find someone who saw movie before me so they could tell me about it...so you see, going for a mamo, waiting for the other shoe to drop would have me on Valium . Gotta do what's best for you. I agree with lover, would be nice to have feeling though.
-
feline fine, so happy you spelled sarcophagus for me
. Great pic of you daughter and hubby
-
Yes, Queenie. It is good not to have stagnant water.
Feline, is it possible that DD is a natural on the skates because balancing comes easily to dancers? Would love to see her perform.
Eeyore, did you live in California before? Yes, I-5 is a boring freeway with few rest areas.
Ms. Sas, always stir the water.....haha.
Meadow, ShepK is right-the earthquake probably started at Chatty Patty's home. It can't be from all the fracking.
ShepK and JunieB, hope you both will soon get out of your technical difficulties.
-
Hey Feline! Welcome back from your travels. Sweet pic of DD and DH. My crew are all sooo graceless....as kids and now adults. Roller skates, skate boards, all those things are scary! DD is a dancer? Neat! How I envy those with balance and co-ordination 😊
Loverly ~ Love the pic of the three teeny-boppers arm in arm. With so many students leaving for the holiday weekend, your arrival must have felt to DD1 like the cavalry showing up! Special times together 💖
As for that earthquake..... Yes. We KNOW it started at Chatty Patty's home. And yes, I do beleive fracking was involved!
-
Poor Mitzy staying home, all for the the best though if hubby was driving!
-
Queenie ~ Jeeesh..... I thought you were breaking up with us too. Don't scare us like that! If any shoes drop, just pick them up so nobody trips. That's an easy fix. Ducking for the shoes that get flung at your head....well, ninja skill is needed. Or a helmet.
You gots to stick around so I can share such gems as these:
-
JunieB ~ Hope you are reading along even if you don't feel up to posting. Keeping you close in my thoughts and surrounding you with imaginary pillows to keep you in one comfy piece 🌥
Sensi ~ Shhhh.... Don't let Chance hear me say this, but HE is the one with a funny shaped head. He needs a doggie do-rag! Never noticed until seeing him posed so sweetly with you in that last pic 🐶
Wenchie ~ Hoping for some of your stress to back off. Taking care of YOU is the number one priority. When you are the one who is usually the grown-up in charge, the others have trouble accepting change. They'll adjust though. You've given so much of yourself; it's your time to rest now. Who knows, maybe your mother will blossom in a new environment? Having other people around all the time to interact with may be just what she needs? The sense of security and routine in the nursing home may help to calm her too.
Great big ((((HUGS))) to all 💜
-
Shepkitty (moans) That was horrible. Do it again! I keep spotting proofreading errors in campus documents (official ones), but I think I better wait until I stop asking simple questions like "Where's this class building?" Last minute enrollment means I missed all the orientation that students who applied at the normal time (spring) got. But then I'm thirty-mumble years out from high school.....

love Elena pics. She looks like an easy baby.
Sensi, how you feeling, did you have another treatment today?
Lover, coping ok since you got back this time? I never take 5 down south. Not enough rest stops and Boring!
Hi all, be well
-
Ms. S, much better as both DDs are doing better themselves. It's funny how I used to dread the long drive down south, but somehow it didn't seem as bad this time.
Susan, Elena is sooooooo adorable. So, you are going to hibernate the next few days post chemo? Good rest,Sleeping Beauty.
ShepK, you are naughty with a double "t". AND then you made fun of Chance's head...Uh uh, you didn't read my mind. Nope.
Sensi, I didn't say nuthin' about Chance's pointy head.
Queenie, I have terrible grammar myself (and I bet you moan or cringe every time you read it), but was surprised to find quite a few grammatical errors in the Continuing Education course I read recently. Yup, you need to stick around to balance out us grammar challenged people. English is so confusing
-
Loverly ~ You're grammar is just fine! (ha!) "Casual" writing like this and texting the rules are different, I think.
Something professional with errors bugs the heck out of me. I am wanting to cancel my local newspaper because of the lack of a competent editor.
Queenie ~ Those college documents; I would sooo find myself fighting the urge to grab a red pen and start making corrections. I feel for you!
Susan ~ Elena doesn't look very happy to be sitting under that apple tree. Is that a shy face?
Jazzy ~ Cool room! Although I'm with Susan...I would have been nervous sleeping next to the sarcophagus 👻
JeanQ ~ I feel so bad for all of you who have had to make surgery decisions. Wishing you all the best as you plan on what to do 🌷
Wren ~ I love when you share your stories of wobbly baby kittens and the adventures of Squeakers. Has your "tuff guy" bullied the neighbor dog any more?
WildT ~ Hoping you are feeling better. Gosh, so much going on in your house! May all of you be free of "bugs" , germs and icks soon 🙁
Sassy ~ Pretty tray! Once upon a time I had some silver polish wipes that worked wonderfully. No elbow grease necessary and no mess. I wish I could remember what brand it was! Some of my silver pieces, if they have tarnished evenly, I will leave as is for an antique look. You know, for art....not laziness 😉
"Hey" to Smaarty, Eeyore, Meadow, Lookie and everyone!
-
Sensi ~ How about this for Chance? A laid back old surfer dude look....
Or something more regal? I would soooo get a lion mane for Marti if she would wear it. She will happily wear clothes, but hates anything on her head..........
Ahhh, but Labs are sporting dogs...........
-
Good morning friends- hope everyone is doing well. Been a girl on the run this week and having a friend come to visit today too for a few days. We have had some good rain here the past few days from a left over hurricane off the Pacific. The desert can always use the rain.....
Shep and Susan- nothing scary in that sarcophagus because it was just decorative. Any of you been to Egypt? I was there in 1989 and one of the most incredible places anywhere. Spent hours in the Museum of Antiquities in Cairo and did not want to leave. Amazing place. There is a whole room of mummies, but only fellow Egyptians are allowed in for viewing. I was a a total Egyptian princess for a weekend (hey, where are my hunky male servants?)
Susan- that little girl is growing and changing every day. So cute! I love those sweet little baby feet in that picture too.
Queen- the comment you make suggests that you are moving past the PTSD that so many of us experience after this diagnosis. For several years, I kept waiting and expecting to hear my bc was back every time I went in for my check ups. Every little ache and pain would immediately bring me to the thought my cancer was back and progressing. While those thoughts went on for me, I was surrounded by people who kept telling me "I was done with all that" or others who would just say they KNEW it was never coming back. I read an article here on bco the other day that says 80% of women experience PTSD after diagnosis and treatment. You are moving through now.....
Congrats on going back to school and starting a new program! I am a life long learner and often taking classes to support my professional work or for fun. I hope you enjoy your classes and would love to hear how you are doing and the interesting things you are taking as you have the time.
Got a couple doctor apts this week and heading to another. Working with a new endocrinologist on some weight loss. I really like her and she gets my challenges. I did loose 5 pounds this past month just by some super careful eating and with moving my body more. My new routine is to do a 20 min walk each morning, on top of any other exercise I do. Getting 2-3 days a week in for that which adds an hour of cardio to my overall routine. The weather is cool and pleasant now for walking. Working on creating a new habit!
Anyone have any fall festivals, local or state fairs, etc. going on?
-
Beautiful pictures of Elena.
Queenie totally with you on the proof reading. They jump out a mile at me. Can't get through a church service ever without spotting one (or twelve) and then I look at my posts here and I will have typed "beautifyl"....I do think the keyboard has inclined me to many more errors. No sensory feedback from forming the letters. Every key you hit feels the same....
BTW my favourite ever church one was the wedding I was at where the missalette (vant remember what you call that in the US) said "Christ has died. Christ has Risen. Christ has come again". Bit of a cut and paste job there I think. I was sitting there thinking: WHAT?!! The second coming has happened and nobody told me!!!
Lover yes I do think the dance was there in the skating. Since you cannot see her perform here are some photos
-
Susan3 awww, goes all mooshy at cute baby pictures
Lover: what Shepkitty said--I do read the personal posts on places such as BCO as more conversational in tone than, say a poster in an institution which shall remain nameless which listed a class "Buisness 215"
Shepkitty: (does spit take at the 'postcard') I've already done a partial proof of my student handbook and one of my textbooks.
Feelingfeline: I'd so be scribbling furiously in the church fliers too. Or simply offer my services to them....
Jazzy: I do wish my oncology team had made a bigger deal of PTSD way back in the beginning; I had a flip-out panic attack in the Y after my first annual mammogram, post diagnosis. I've been a member of this Y for twenty years, and found nothing but kindness there, so I could at least realize that this really is all in my head, that there couldn't possibly be anything to fear. But still have the occasional hiccup in the shower area.
-
feline. Great pics. How elegant. Awesome talent
Susan oh my. She is so adorable. Love all the pics but esp the one with dad. Too bad they can't stay this cute and small. Unfortunately they turn in to teenagers. Ouch !! Ready for dss's to move to the next part of life. Lol
-
feelingfine, gorgeous pics. I used to dance. It's my first love. Wish I could see her in person to. I could watch dance all day.
Nice comment on elenas feet. They better start growing into duck feet...lol her head is in the 70%, and body 30%. I don't know how she is going to balance that out....ha ha. She holds her head up beautiful side to side. But straight on, only for a few seconds. Gotta get some stronger muscles in that neck, and she hates tummy time....screams the whole time. I would to if my head was so heavy....haha.
I am going to try to fat some cooking done for a friend who had surgery . Then bed time till Sunday
Claire got a sub job at the school affiliated with her church. I get to babysit all dat on those days. She has 2 scheduled so far
. She has to have a 2 day notice silo I can rearrange clients. Thingscarevworkingbout great for them. Hard to settle into a new place and find new friends. It's all falling into place. Another thing I don't have to worry about anymore. Us moms take on a lot don't we.
-
OMD Feline she is gorgeous!
-
Claire, 2 days a week---Heaven. She is soooo beautiful. If the doc can make a referral to a PT for Elena, There may be some things they can eval and suggest. I know our lives were different as polio toddlers b/c of the SR(nurse) Kenny method of treatment which was the start of Physical therapy. Based on your description sounds like she might be feeling neck and back muscle strain. Sounds logical a PT would be able to definitively eval................Maybe she was affected by the Akiz virus. Very tasteless pun.
Loverly, and Quennie, I love the old Gallagher shows when he does those word things then he finishes by taking off his hair and smashes a watermelon.
Queenie, have you ever thought of technical writing. A friends sister got a job right out of college around 2000 and walked into a 60,000$ job. It's not the most creative job, but pays well b/c of the legal consequences of poorly written technical material. Probably could be done from home too, as it would all be computer based.
-
Sadly I am not a dancer those pictures make me want to try, pure joy.
Loverly - glad your native/uni boob is still doing its thing during yes I know what! While I didnt test positive for BRCA my mom died of BC so theres that. I will do a bilateral, my post was just wondering out loud about doing them one at a time to help radiated righty boob heal better. Will ask the surgeon on Monday for advice on that.
Susan3 - yes the waiting after each test is terrible, I will be glad to be done with that. Or the lovely mamo call backs, ugh just shoot me. Plus the non cancer side will not get the extra screenings my cancer side has been getting that detected the current DCIS. Love your admission about being a peeker and read-aheader, you are a girl thats just gotta know!
Shepkitty - Thank you but dont feel bad, it could be worse. I'm glad to have options and ways to educate myself to try for the best outcome. In my moms case years ago you just got what you got, who knew back then to ask about options and possible outcomes etc.
My proofreading pet peeve .... the little headlines at the bottom of the TV screen during newscasts. Is it just my local channels that post important headlines with typos?
Happy Friday eve ladies!
-
susan. How geeT they moved close enough for you to get to babysit. That rocks !
Jean. I only had cancer in one boob but did uni. Just so many people I knew would finish tx on one on to find out now it was in the other boob. Also for me it was better looking. It was back in 2002 and I don't think they even had genetic testing available back then. My mom had had 1 breast removed a long time ago and struggled with what she wore. I could go bra less with an undershirt or use a bra and prothesis. Which ever i felt like. It was a ! MAJOR recovery !!!! But well worth one surgery and 1 recovery for me. I had a latissimus Doris flap reconstruction about a year later. After radiated areas were completely healed. Also I have had feeling come back in both breast. Not sure it is exactly the same feeling since it's been so long. But is still sensitive + in a good way - and very much sensual to me. Just my two cents worth. Everyone is different.
Sas. I see you are still staying busy keeping bco alive. Yea !! Love ya
Hugs to all.
Hootie hoo from chatty patty
-
wow Patty, great your feeling came back. I had a free tram. So I don't think you get feeling back with that. I only have one nerve / blood supply going to the breasts. I still after 16 years feel electrical shoots once in awhile, nerves looking for connections.
Sas, I think Elena is fine...just making a funny on her head size. She is not even five months yet. I think around the five month mark they hold there head up all the time. Claire sent me a video today on tummy time. She had her head lifted up the whole time with a smile on her face. So she is getting there.
I babysit 8 hours a week from Friday. Pray I have the energy to get through it, and that Elena is ok away from mom that long, and that claire is ok away from Elena that long. Gonna be an emotional day I think.
