Yes Lori, you must take great care of yourself first, then you can be strong to help care for others. You FIRST!

Patty, I am in Southwest Mo, outside of Springfield. So kind of in your region...and I would love to meet you one day, maybe we can!

Good morning everyone! The sun isn't shining yet but my brain is! 🌞

It's a great thing to wake up to something cooking in the kitchen when I'm still in bed hanging out! My hubby rocks!

Who would have thought I'd ever be excited about packing my chemo bag? I'm so ready to get back on track and get this behind me. My MO has some splainin' to do! How dare he put me off so he can BBQ and drink beer?! One of my "drop dead" looks should do the trick, bald head and all!

I've got a rumbly in my tumbly. I wonder if I sent DH a text if I could get breakfast in bed? 🤔 I dought it lol

    Until next time

    Lori

Wench- sorry about your reactions to the SE meds and your mom. Does your mother have dementia? If so, she may not be able to comprehend what is going on. But I also know others don't always get we cannot be 'dong for them' during cancer treatment. It is a hard decision to have a parent go to a home for care, but sometimes necessary to ensure they are kept safe. Sorry all this is happening right now. Like Patty says, vent away.

mesdow. I am from Jonesboro. About an hour from Memphis. A lil far to be neighbors I guess. My dh usually goes there to the Street Machine Nationals toward the end of Sept. I've been a few times but not in awhile because it hurts to ride. My dss always want to go to Bass pro shop while there. Unfortunately he is not going this year because he has his camaro tore down doing upgrades. Maybe next year we can go and meet. How cool that would be.

Lori glad to hear your brain is already smiling. What a way to start the day and with breakfast ready. Sweet !

Another great day and evening in the book. I've never had so many good days in a row. I really believe the X is working yea !

Jazzy, mom is sharp as a tack that's what bothers me the most. She knows but just doesn't seem to care sometimes? I know she's going through a lot too and her situation is out of her control as is mine. I've reminded her I have chemo early in the morning and I'll remind her again tonight, but she'll ask me where I was when I get home lol

    Until next time...

Lori best wishes with all you are dealing with. Decisions can only be made on the best available information at any given time, you will make them with love and integrity I am sure.

    PS Loved the funny pic.

(shyly) A good update, I think?: I do hereby declare myself ready to move on with my [insert descriptive and more than slightly profane term] now. I've applied (and gotten into, though that's not hard) local community college for business computer classes. This term.

But mostly: thank you ever so much, lovely ladies (and the occasional gentleman) for the wonderful support you've provided. There's a life during, and after, and in spite of, and anyway, and because of, all this [insert extremely profane term that will surely condemn me for several millennia in your choice of purgatory equivalent]

Wenchi, oh how I feel for you. Caregiving is hard enough but while undergoing treatment must be terrible. If you dont mind my saying she unfortunately doesnt sound happy now so if she does go live in a care home its not you making her unhappy, she just is unhappy. And stay far away from those shingles, so contagious.

Loverlife, your road trip pictures make want to go somewhere, anywhere! There is something about a road trip and new sites.

Wren, Wildtulip, Smaarty and others, thank so much for the recon/MX tips and info. I am thinking this, what do you think? Have MX only on the right breast (cancer & radiated side) later this month. Let my body and specifically that rt breast heal really well. It has taken a very long time to heal from my July core biopsy and I am still bruised and sore from Aug 4th lumpectomy. Both PS's I've met with have said the complication rate is over 50% for radiated breasts with immediate reconstruction. I guess I'm a big chicken but I dont like those odds.

Once righty is all healed up go back in for ProphMX on left side with immediate recon and implant placement. At that time do what can be done on the right, possibly alloderm (or LD flap) and TE/implant, whatever. The original thought was to do BMX ...heal then go back for the recon surgery. If I do that the "good" side will go flat so to speak and need expanders so thats one reason I'm thinking I should leave it be until the second time I go in.

Wildtulip - a free hand massage how nice! That would be so appreciated, hope to run into that one day.

Jazzy, thats an amazing room, I've got to put Taos on my list.

So many things to do...so little time. Good morning, afternoon, and evening.

It is so wonderful to see Chatty Patty.

Queenie, is that a farewell post? I hope not.

Jazzy, my DD1 used to love anything Egypt when she was in primary school.

JeanQ, let me think about what you said.

Eeyore, will share about Dad's side of the story when time is right. Need to ask him more questions.

    Feline, how was your holidays?

Lori, so sad with mom. I agree with what Feline said.

Here is a photo DH took on our visit this weekend. We were not aware of it.

    image

Visit was good. No tears from this side. Hopefully, no tears from DD either. My baby is growing. Wish there was an emoji for happy and sad face in one. Got to run errands.

Lover: never fear, I'm not going AWAY away. It's more that...oh, dear how to explain this: I declare myself done with waiting around for the next shoe to drop, the next surgery, the next drastic medical intervention, and start putting my employment life back together.

JeanQ, from what I understand, you are basically asking an opinion on single vs double MX for upcoming surgery. It's such a personal decision and I don't know how to answer. Perhaps someone who has had a single can chime in about that.

Loverly, I love, love, love that picture of you and your girls!!

Hello to everyone else..I've been reading, but not well enough to post and this will be kept short as I'm going to bed soon. Sat I came down with a 103 temp, cough, etc. Sunday it was 102 and I went to urgent care, but was told it was viral. Monday temp down to 101, but coughing increased. Today I woke sounding like a frog, and after talking all day at work, I have no voice. I can barely whisper, which I now know is not a good thing for me to do. So, I've stopped talking and I'm drinking tea with honey. The rotation of illness in my house continues. Ugh! It's a good thing my kids are taking American Sign Language this term!!

    Hello ladies!

Susan-love the pics of Elena. She is adorable

Lover-How was the visit with DD? Love the pic of you three.  Did you survive DH's driving?

Mags-Love the scar.  I've been mainly wearing head buffs and occasionally a had.

Smaarty-Lunch was quick, but good.  Was good to see them.

Tulip-sorry for the loss of your ex FIL

Sas-everyone has been telling me nice shaped head ;)

I'm on day 6 of round 2. Doing really well, besides being tired. Day 7 was the start of the worse last time for me, so keeping my fingers crossed, I just continue to be lazy. Know I should be taking care of myself, but really wish I was able to be working.  Feel like I'm getting stuck in a rut.

Till next check in, take care ladies.

Sensitive- That dog is cute. I watched Marley and Me again the other day on HBO and this dog makes me think of that movie. Dogs are special friends during tough times, yes?

I am sorry you are not able to work right now. Working during part of my treatment did help me to both have income to pay for so much of what we go through as well as to not have to focus only on being a cancer patient. I hope you can get back to work after chemo is done if you are able and want too. Working during treatment is very tough too though. You take care of yourself and we will be here to cheer you on and hold your cyber hand when things let rough.

Jazzy, you are up late. Not usual for you, no?

Sensi, Chance has such a sweet face. What a good boy for taking care of his mama. Visit with DD was good, but too short. Most of her dorm mates went home for the 3 day weekend so it was good that we visited her. She really misses Mitzy. We took Mitzy along with us one time to check out the schools in So Cal, she was a mess every time we stopped for potty break. Almost lost her at one of the rest stops where there were many people. Less stressfull for her if we leave her with the sitter.

WildT, sorry for the stressful and restless pass two or three weeks. Hope your immune system is doing its job to get rid of the bugs you caught. Hugs

JeanQ, I don't know why, but I always think about Jacques Cousteau when I refer to you. Hah! Anyway, I had delayed recon and I am a Uni (without the horn). It was very tough for me emotionally without my left breast. Originally, I wanted both breast gone, but now I'm glad I still have my native breast. It is important for me to have "feelings" on my native side during you know what (sorry tmi). I have none on the Mx side, but occasionally have shooting pain. The drawback is I still need mammograms on my native side. Now, if I carried a gene that is found to increase my risk, then I would have both removed. I wish you the best on your decision.

Mags, forgot you are in Oklahoma. Hope you are ok. I am sorry to have to deal with mouth pain now.

Queenie, got it. Have fun learning.

Lover - Really great hoilday thank you. Such a beautiful photo of you and your girls.

I took a couple from behind like that on the hols. This is DH and DD

    image

She got the skates on hols. She is amazing on them, she put them on in the shop and skated up and down the aisles like she had been born with them on. This is actually what convinced me to say "yes" to her getting them, though her finding it so easy of course worries me that overconfidence will creep in.....ho hum, typical Mum.

Jazzy what a room. I like the goddess over the bed, but I think the sarcophagus in the corner might find me hiding under the bed sheets due to a third rate horror movie I saw as a child and have never forgotten. Eeek!

Morning Owlies Been working on the "attitude thread". Don't know if I posted a link. BCO posted this seriously stupid article on the main board. We got them to change the title b/c it was seriously insulting. We wanted the article removed b/c it has problems. Flawed. Not proven it has value. Making waves LOL (per usual).

Went thrifting yesterday. Found this 4$. It was black. But I will have to take it to a jeweler for final cleaning. International silver, Du Barry # 5772

Queenie, does that mean you are leaving here? You can do fly by posts and check in, lot's do. Have fun in college :) AH-Hah, got to your explanation post. YAY transitioning. It's nice when that shoe drop feeling lessens.

Wenchie, an alternative to a nursing home is a group home. Their approved through some county agency. The county checks for safety, and CPR, and care givers. It's a national thing.

I had a friend do it for a couple of decades. They were approved for 4 patients. They are required to be non skilled. It's like assisted living facilities except a private home. Way less money. Sounds like Mom wouldn't qualify for a nursing home.

Loverly, nice pic with the girls :)

Jeannie is there time to get any teeth work done? If there is anything to get looked at do it now. I'm finding lot's of posts recently where it's a problem once you get into treatments and sx's. I'm blanking on your sx question, sorry.

Tulip, ugh, that's an awfully high temp for viral. hope you feel better soon.

Sensi, good, that was one thing I was curious about when I shaved my head. I didn't want to look like a conehead. Remember the gal in Star Trek that was bald. She was breath taking. Sensi, on the work feeling, everyone's different. It's hard to be patient with this. Hugs Love seeing Chance :) Nice pic!

Jazzy, interesting the décor in Taos was Egyptian. Isn't Taos a major center for very old native stuff?
