INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Loverly - You're right in that it is very unusual for someone to actually leave a note if they damage your car. So nice to know that some still do exist.
Lookie - How excellent it is that your group of volunteers has been able to raise funds to provide those lifts and now a re-do of the sun room. That will definitely give the residents a nice place to relax and lift their spirits.
I found this page today showing two rescue dogs that are BFF's and love to hug each other. So here's the link if anyone wants to check Lottie & Grizzley out.

Sas - Hopefully your present A/C is still working while you are deciding. Isn't it hot there in Florida now?
It was 88 degrees here yesterday and today is supposed to be 87-89 degrees. Awful! I suffer a lot from the heat, because of the hormone suppressing drugs they inject me with. Slept with a fan blowing on me last night.
Susan - I'm glad I could share the info. And thank you for the idea to go to youtube. I'll check it out. The crib blanket I'm knitting right now is very close to being done. Just need to start sewing the diaper bag, bibs and burp cloths. I would like to have one set done before I have surgery.
On Sunday evening I did a little weeding and now I have mosquito bites on my arms, legs, back & bottom. Those little suckers (pun intended) just love me! I could do without the love here. Last year or the year before I did the same and ended up with 27 bites. I didn't know where to scratch first.
Shep - Sorry your hip is hurting so much. Hope you find some relief.
Jazzygirl - The area you live in sounds beautiful. And the pic you posted of the mountains are pretty too. How hot are your summers? Have a good week!

Hey Owlettes. Just got back from the dentist. I'm going to lose all my teeth. They could save some of them but the cost would be comparable to the alternative, which is implant-retained dentures. I asked the dentist, would you like to see what my smile looked like before cancer? He said sure. So I showed him a couple of pics DH took the Christmas before, so about 4 months pre dx. Big smile. Dentist was astonished. I said that was 2 years ago. He couldn't believe how much damage the tx had done. He said, can you email those to me? I said sure. He said, because when we make your dentures we can make them look just like your old smile. I like to cried. (Regionalism) That sold me. He thought it was likely that even if he repaired them I would eventually lose them anyway. So we shall be toothless, boobless, girl-parts-less, what's next?
Best regionalism: Bless her heart. = She's dumber than a box of rocks.
Favorite German word: Ausgezeichnet! Means Outstanding! Second favorite word: Schadenfreude. Means taking pleasure in someone else's pain (usually when that someone else has really deserved it). Y'all have been there, I'm sure.
Well I had my 65th birthday Monday. Saturday night we went to see our favorite band at the Jazz Lab. I talked to my friend Mary, the guitarist/vocalist I've known for 30 years, and asked her if she would take my old guitar off my hands, since I can't play it anymore. I've had it over 40 years, it's a Gibson classical, serial number & everything. She said she was needing a classical, so sure. We decided to meet for dinner at our favorite Mexican place on Monday night, and she said she'd even play a tune or two. I called Maria and made sure she had flan for us, and told her the plan. so Monday night we met and had dinner, Mary and her pianist Louise, DH and I. After dinner Louise went out and brought in her accordion, and they played for us. Mary loves the Gibson, and she will take care of it and play it and it sounded so beautiful. Maria videoed them and I'm going to try to put it here for you.

Here's the other song, the video is a little blurry. They wrote Cuando Pase themselves and it's on their latest CD, Roll Away.

Happy Tuesday!
Loverly ~ I went back to Sassyland and yes, you did explain....I just was so charmed by the pronouns I forgot
I was born in SC (in the same city I live now) but grew up in MA. I also had to unlearn saying "sir" or "ma'm" - you would think our manners would have been appreciated! Sorry the sky is falling on you...gosh golly. Hope all your car issues work out and DH gives you a raise! A Jane Of All Trades is worth her weight in gold. Or at least unlimited nice foot massages!
JunieB ~ One of my my besties is from NY. Nine years here and she still says chopped meat! Must be a NY thing. Johnny mop is a new one....very fitting! You and Loverly are so exotic ~ being 1st generation here! My people came over in the late 1800's from Ireland, making me 4th generation. Does your Mom still speak German? I would love to be fluent in more than one language. 3 years of 1st year French doesn't quite cut it! No opportunity to speak it here though; I can understand your not wanting to learn German when you were young.
Mags ~ You can get away with saying anything as long as you follow it with "bless her/his heart"! My dear GGM used to say "God Bless her/him" instead. She was so sweet
Love the videos of your private concert! What a cool birthday! You must really treasure your friend to gift her with your Classic Gibson. Wonderful that she will get to enjoy playing it and you will get to enjoy hearing it. My husband and DS have older Gibsons. They are beautiful to look at and have that unique Gibson sound. Best wishes for your new smile. What a caring person your dentist must be to take such an interest in getting it just right!

Catching up, UGh several pages behind!. My quest to find a HVAC unit is totally brain arresting. I am easily diverted to more interesting stuff.
Quennie, 'Nothing going on here but gardening, thank deity'. takes on a whole new meaning for us. Boring is good, so good...............
Junie, sorry you don't qualify for services, but it's better to know than not know. Now I hope the other posts about finding money can help. They're really is money out there, it's just a tedious plodding job finding it. Thank you on the safety report re: your apartment
It is very much appreciated. It calms the nurse in me to know you are safe
" the NW Seniors & Disabilities folks said they couldn't help me on a short-term basis, but if I needed help for the long-term that would be different. But I would have to pay a percentage of my income for those services." Did the evaluate for those services? My friend that I talked into applying for those services pays 20$ a month for meals on wheels 5 day/wk, 2 days/wk 2 hours each day, cell phone with alert stuff. medicaid and coverage of her medicare insurance. It took 15 months for her to move up on the wait list. Government. She broke a femur that healed very poorly. Getting around isn't easy. Her meals on wheels meals actually cover two meals a day b/c what they bring exceeds what she can eat. Her grocery bill went way down. The 20$ turned out cheap. Her Soc Sec Disability is about 1200$ a month with no savings. So, she may be eligible for allot more.

Loverly, Loving Vietnamese 101. Wondered about the Miss. Better that being Bat LOL Bat Sassy. You know the interpretation here would be crazy
Jazzy, I've made progress on the Cobalt. I will send you pics of the stuff and you can say YAY or NAY.
Shep & FF ' You are so right Ashley is a milksop. Yes maturity does change perspective on Melanie." I agree.
Lookie, almost done, what fun. So wish I could empty the house and paint the whole thing. So, tired of the colors, but everything else is coordinated around the colors. The basic color two colors are chosen b/c of Christmas. BUT I need a change. More pics soon of the RENO. please.
Smarrty what a fun idea with the frame.
-
Boring is most definitely to be desired just now.
Susan3: everyone sleeping on your end?
-
jazzy, Chevy left. She's on the older woman's thread.
Junie, the HVAC is fine. It's 17 years old. Usual for a Trane in Florida is 14 years. Other lesser brands 12 years. Doing this preemptively. Donnie DBF is an HVAC guy. I can get a unit at cost. Labor is 50% of install. it's a realistic move. Hate to replace something that's working, but it's a smart move for lot's of boring reasons.
Mags, good about the teeth. Sorry, about loosing your old Gibson friend, but nice to know it will be so well cared for . AND you can visit often
-
Just got to your posts
..................................April 20th, 2016 9:50pm, Elena, 5 pounds 8 oz, 19 inches.
................................................Proud parents Claire and Andrew
........................................ Proud Grandma and Grandpa Susan and Dan

Susan, so happy for you all! Hope Claire is able to get some rest; that was a looong night!
-
Yeah! ! Had us worried there for a bit. Seem to take a long time. So happy you are a grandma now
.
We can compete with baby pics!
Hi everybody else. Nothing new or exciting here. Boring should never be under estimated. When life is not boring then something good or bad is going on. My youngest DS used to complain that we were boring. He has learned to appreciate boring. He now has a 10 & 13 kids.
