INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Susan, I 've always said we should have a day of no corrections. It would be so funny. My kindle is the absolute worst. Autocorrects are so off the all not even close. If we were to do a correction free day, I would use the Kindle. BTW you never posted pics of your remodel of the bedroom or I missed them?
-
Waiting to sit in on a Coumadin patient so I am on my phone typing...
I knew what you were talking about Susan, but had a good laugh.
Glad the Clarinex is working for you. Claritin is like sugar pill for me. Have not tried Clarinex. Zyrtec turns me into a zombie. Clarinex is related to Claritin, but supposedly works faster with little drowsiness ( to answer your question JunieB).
-
Ms. Smarty, good to hear you are getting relief with the acupuncture. Very important that you get a good one Ms. Sas.

sassy, mom made me go home last night. She has no pain anywhere. Says she still feels off but better than before. She called first thing this morning. My sister will go over later today. I'm making soup and will take her some tomorrow. Then Im out of town this weekend for a sewing retreat. Little one, only an hour from home.
Going to be a wet weekend for us thru next week. No rain in February and now most of March will be wet. As they say here, it never rains in California, it's pours!
BTW, grandson is heading to Baltimore next week to stay for a month with a friend. Still hasn't gotten his new leg yet, paperwork screw up, but he's doing so much better. Glad to see him getting out more. Still hurts, the weather makes it a he but so much better than before.

Sas, back in the day, and I'm talking over 50 years ago, I don't think they took into consideration the effects of the spray. The city did post when the spraying would take place so you could get the windows closed. It was a very high-powered mist that was sprayed. Definitely an herbicide smell. I know of two other areas with the ginkgo trees. One of my DDs lives in the DuPont Circle area of the city and they have scads of them there. Hate to go to her neighborhood in the fall. That is a smell that is gross.
What is interesting about my block is back in the 60s a home fuel oil company built a tank and loading dock behind the houses directly across from where I live now. (Grew up five houses down the street on the same side.) One household had both breast and prostrate cancer and are now deceased. The other household had colon cancer. Those are on the same side across from me close to where the loading dock was located. I had breast cancer. It would be interesting to know if any of those who have moved away developed a cancer. We are a dead-end block of 36 houses. The oil smell would seep into the house once heating season began. I think that is a case for environmental exposure.
DGS will start 4th grade in April and DGD will start 1st grade. DGS had a swim meet a while back and set a record for the 200IM. He loves snowboarding and DS takes him. DGD just started ski lessons two weeks ago. Morning session left her not so sure, but by the end of the day she likes it. She loves studying bugs and tadpoles and the such which I find very interesting for a little girl. One of mine was into collecting worms when I was in my garden. She would be upset when they would go crawling off. So I guess it runs in the family.
DD1 is getting into the throws of wedding planning. She actually likes a suggestion I made (heart be still). We butt heads a lot. We're both head strong so I guess that stands to reason.
Oh I hate autocorrect.
Hope everyone is having a good day.
-
Kathy, what was the suggestion that your DD1 liked? Steve and FDIL are planning. Parents don't get to add anyone to the list. I have one friend that has been here for all holidays for more than 20 years. Her health is not well. We are in discussion. Sounds like the kids are having great fun. DGS approximately 9 y/o and set a record? Wow. Should be an interesting next few years. DGD the learning to stop is the hardest. At first I thought no problem, run into the hay bales. Gentle hill outside of Detroit. Thanks for the update. Any clue why the city planners put such smelly trees? You could call the local health department and ask them to study whether they're was a cluster of cancers. It's part of what they are supposed to do. The kabash could be put on it, depending on who's in charge. Not good for reputation of area if they find a connection. Plus, then the pay outs.....................

For sas.. My "parlor"
-
-
Susan, that room looks gorgeous. Like a magazine!
-
thanks. Love being in there
-
Sas, city stopped spraying years ago. I know the household with the colon cancer wasn't here then. I'm thinking it was the heavy fumes from the home heating company.
Yeah, not bad breaking a record for his age group. DS swam 8th through 11th grade and was a lifeguard for about 5-6 years while in HS and college. He has given the grands some good foundations with swimming. DGS was having trouble getting his time down to make the team and DS gave him some pointers. Glad they are close enough to the mountains so the grands can learn to ski/snowboard.
Since the kids are getting married at the courthouse, I suggested they use Celebration of the Marriage so that his family from out of town won't expect a ceremony. I know they have worked up a list without in put from us and I'm not sure about his mom. Oh, this will get interesting
Susan, love "your" room. Are the walls painted or wallpapered? Very interesting look.
-
Susan, love the room, so cozy. did your DH do the work? BTW, how's he doing? Kidney stone right?
-
Susan, My sofa is orange (where the cats haven't ripped it to shreds) and I've been looking for another one. I can't wear orange at all, but it makes me happy to have it around.
-
here's the newest of Evie. See the number, my DD is making those for each month. I'll have to see how far she has gotten. She's almost 11 lbs and grown an inch. Had her first shots onFriday and they didn't seem to phase her.
-
as for the room....first time I didn't paint . We hired hubby's cousin. The paint is actually just a flat color. I have a crystal light fixture on the ceiling . When it's on the dimmer, it gives the walls a faux finish. Who knew. Ok, I will pretend I did...lol here is the sweater I just finishes for Claire's birthday. I will try to post light fixture too. But it doesn't photo well
-
-
oooooooh! Like both. Is DD planning on wearing her sweaternow?
-
nooooo. Tummy to big with baby cakes in there. She has to wait till next year
. The scarf up in the corner of the pic she can wear now.
I forgot who asked , but hubby's stone did finally pass. All by itself
-
Susan, Love the sweater. I admire those who can knit. Light globe is very pretty and has a nice antique look to it. It gives a wonderful effect to the walls.
Evie is so, sooooo cute. She's got such pinchable cheeks.
Well autocorrect wants sooooo to be soon and pinchable cheeks to paintable cheeks. I'm going to have to turn it off. So frustrating.
-
Susan, Totally love the room. Genre late 1920 to late 1930. Question did you have a family home that influenced your style, or was they're a family home that in memory made you very happy?
Now you may be very, very unhappy with me. Love the total room, but the window treatment doesn't go with the time period. Time periods can mix. But your time period isn't eclectic for this room. Plus, since you said that the chandelier changes the walls to a Faux finish, interesting, b/c faux finish came about long ago. B/C of cost. Wallpaper was expensive. Faux finishes were developed as a thing to allow the middle class folks to have a semblance of wallpaper. I love faux finishes. They can be so creative. It was/is an art. Gained great resurgence in the last 30 years.
I could be dead wrong. Sheesh, ain't I a biatch. The window of the time period would have been lace. Suggest looking at time period lace/ curtain. Hide the frame. Kinda buy one and put it up and see if you see a difference. Internet can find anything.
The little table under the window. Mom bought one similar as her first buy as a newly married in 1937 at Woolworths. 2.50$. 2.50$ in 1937 wasn' t cheap. Still have it. It's gone from Michigan to Ohio to Florida. Hope Steve understands significance. Asked Mom why that was the first thing she bought. I forget the answer. Hated that I forgot the answer, but the table is a keeper.
Okay don't hate me......................genre
-
Smarrty,A thought don't let them put Evie on the same immunization plan as a full term baby. No research behind what I just said. Technically her immune system is a month behind. Peds docs only look at schedules.
-
sas, you are sooooo funny. Those are 3 dollar paper shades from Walmart...ha ha ha. We didn't save up the money for the windows yet. You know, those 90% people
. I want roman shades in a the pleated v shape. I love that time period of sitting rooms, gossip benches, and tea tables. My whole house used to be antique . But I got to tired of dusting, so I got rid of all of it. Sorry I did now. Sometimes I make decisions way to quick.
Don't know why I like the stuff sas, didn't grow up with any memories of stuff like that. When my hubby mom died, people were taking things from the house like crazy. But they weren't taking the tatted tablecloths that his grandma made. I will take a pic and show you tomorrow. I asked if I could have one and they gave one to me. She made lots of them. I tried tatting, made 4 coasters. Lol. Way to much time. There is a show on pbs or wttw, called miss Fischer . I watch the show for the clothes and the decor in the rooms. And sigh the whole time
-
just saw the baby pic. Soooooooooooo cute

Dang! I don't check in for a week, and then I find that there are a thousand new pages!
So I read every single post, and formulate a reply in my head to each one, and by the time I get to the next page, the topics have all changed.... so I make up NEW replies in my head, but then I go to the next page, and... well... you get it.
Things are o.k. on the home front. I see my MO for the first time in a year.... It's just for an annual breast exam. I won't be seeing her again; this is my five-years-out year. I'll go back to my PCP. I may decide to have a revision down the road, but I'm not completely convinced yet.
I almost cancelled the appt, I was so embarassed at the amount of weight I've gained back. But at least I know have some legitimate excuses: Traumatic Brain Injury, documented lack of any "deep sleep" brain waves at night, daytime grogginess due to sleep disorders, and a tsunami of Cortisol in my system for the past few months thanks to DH's kidney disease.
Speaking of which, the experimental drug seems to be working. The last two lab tests "post-final-infusion" have shown improvement in some areas, but his protein leakage took a little jump this time. We just have to be patient... it's only been two weeks. We are cautiously optimistic.
Miss all you gals.... wish I could keep up with the conversation!!!

Susieq, so wanted not to offend, but had to tell the *^%#truth. So happy you weren't offended. I'm guessing you went to some olders houses as a kid. These house were quite in order. The Parlor. The parlor was the place to meet people. It was separate from the rest of the house. The size of the parlor was associated with wealth. What was in the parlor was to be the best that could be afforded. Beyond the parlor which was generally separated by doors. Was the usual living space.
You were influenced some how.......you have a nice ability to put an old room together
-
Susuie, the reason they were taking stuff from you your hubby's house like crazy ----tells me she had good stuff. But if you have no interest Then you have no interest. Not even going into the reality...It's fine you and Hubby didn't care. It works out.
I have lot's of stuff I value. My kid doesn't value it. Makes me crazy that he will send it one day to the SPCA thrift store, that I thrifted it at. I enjoy the stuff and I gift it.
Sending home a plate to Donnie's sister with his brother Jessie.
Plate cost 4$. Gorgeous piece. It will be a handed down piece. Must convince by note to use it often versus saving for rare holidays.

Smaarty - I think Evie is getting cuter every day. Such a precious little girl.
Susan - I agree "your" room is quite lovely. I especially like the style of the loveseat. Also, How in the world did you manage to complete a whole sweater in two weeks. Very nice. Decorating is NOT one of my strengths. I have a full couch and big daddy recliner. They're in a moss green chenille. Sometimes I think about selling them and getting just two recliners, but then I think about the fact that I sometimes like to lay on the couch. So I don't know what I will do.
Yesterday I started to experience dizziness when I'd stand up from a laying or sitting position. I nearly hit the floor I was so dizzy. Was going to call palliative care, but decided to just go to Urgent care. Then on my way I remembered that last year I had the same symptoms and it ended up being wax plugging my ears. So, when I got to urgent care they looked in my ears and ta dah! wax AGAIN. Once they cleaned it out the dizziness is gone. SO WEIRD! But so glad it was a simple fix and nothing more serious. The nurse practitioner did tell me though that if the dizziness returns to go to the E.D. YUCK!
Also, as I've said before I use public transportation and today I went to a couple stores, forgot my umbrella at one, but found it at customer service. Then at another store I forgot it again. This time someone snagged it, so now I have to get a new umbrella. These senior moments are quite irritating.
Sas - How far are you from Tampa? I have a couple friends who moved there last October, from So. Calif. Just curious. Still haven't heard from the breeder and I am resisting the urge to call her weekly. A friend asked me how I would like it if someone called to ask me the same question numerous times and reminded me that as soon as the breeder knows anything she WILL let me know. So hard to wait.
Hello to everyone else. I hope you're all having a nice restful evening.
-
jazzy, glad that was an easy fix. It's horrible to be dizzy .
Sas, the only way you could offend me, was if you didn't like me
. Everything else is just what it is
.
Night night all
Oh, hi blessings
.
-
Kath, you might have a future Olympian swimmer there. Both of my girls swim also. DD1 lifeguarded and taught swimming lessons two summers ago and didn't like lifeguarding at all. Too boring for her and didn't like to deal with the adults with attitudes. She did enjoy giving lessons to the kids though. Always talked about them when she came home from work and referred to them as her kids. A few parents and one grandma really liked her and were disappointed when they found out she wasn't teaching the next course.
-
Susan, I have seen the picture of your "parlor" before. I like the color coordination. Leave it up to Ms. Sas to speak what's on her mind about your window shade. Haha. A simple sheer solid color roman shade will look lovely. Nice fall color sweater, btw. I can't believe you did that in 2 weeks!
I want to pinch not only those cheeks of Evie, but her thighs also.
Hi Blessing. Cautiously optimistic is good. Always look forward to read your post.
JunieB, whew! So were you able to make your own candles with what they removed? You don't drive?
Jazzy, you must be really busy with work. Somebody has a birthday this month, right?
