INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

I give Mitzy 10mg Zytec and wipe her down with baby wipes after she goes on a walk. Hopefully, that minimizes her allergies.
-
His was only in spring, we didn't do walks, just dog park and yard. Sure it's not her food?
-
Chevy, you know what you're talking about with the allergy desensitization. I am just about ready to finish my last set of serums. Yippy! It will be 7 1/2 yrs. for me. Have three outdoor and three indoor allergies, so I'm year round. Was well under control until my last bout of bronchitis. Got my cough back, yuck.
Mags, beautiful lunch set.
Well went to a wedding venue with DH and future SIL. They both love it! Looks like that will be the place. Both want to be married at the courthouse and have a celebration party. They are talking a small presence at the courthouse. Works for us.
Boy, I miss my garden. I've had some crocus and a ground cover blooming since January. Daffodils are making themselves known. Love the early spring flowers. My sign of warmer weather to come.
-
She has been sneezing and rubbing her face against her bed and paws since we have the blooms. We changed her food to grain free wild salmon kibbles and stopped giving her treats for two weeks with no different results. Its a challenge trying to figure out what she is allergic to. I started her on pro-biotics. Hopefully, her immune system will help her with her allergies.
-
Meadow sorry that you were shushed, I had a great time.
Mags lovely set, Elegant glass is some of my favorite. Look up cobalt glass of HA's. Lot's with Shirley Temple. Always wanted to get her cobalt sugar, creamer, and milk picture with the chevron design. She was very responsive to the public. Glass with pheasants were some of my favs. Lot's of sailboats and golf. If I can I'll post the glass we were talking about. The boy's finally wore down and are on the couch.

Chevy, I've been thru allergy shots twice,, once as a kid, and once in my late 30's. They do seem to help. When I moved temporarily to NY, they disappeared while I lived there,,, different trees, etc,,,when I moved back, it took a few years to start sneezing again. But I'm not too bad,, I try to take Claritin every day, especially now. The yellow pollen is out! I do better by the ocean, but I live inland. Thankfully the asthma that I had as a kid, is just coughing now.
-
I didn't shush Meadow,, I just mentioned that we would like to keep politics off this thread so that we can all remain friends.
Meadow, if I hurt your feelings, I apologize. I just did not want a repeat of the last time.

Loverly, We have gotten into pine pollen season. It covers everything in yellow dust. We moved here in 1992 just before pine pollen. I walked on the deck and everything was covered. I wasn't that many years off working as a paramedic educator. Had lot's of exposure(pun) to talk of Hazmat stuff. All of the coast from the Keys to Maine are close to I 95. My first thought was there was a chemical spill on I 95 and we weren't warned of it. All laughed at me. It's always a mess. Almost as bad as Love bugs. Pine pollen doesn't damage anything. Dead Love bugs are acidic and can damage paint . Horrible on cars if not washed off quickly. Like daily. If it's not washed off it etches the paint.
Loverly write down specific questions about Mitsy. I'm going to call University of Florida about a couple of questions I have on food. They have a vet school. They are very responsive to questions. I've contacted them over the years and have been very happy with the talks. I'll add your questions to mine

Thank you Glennie I am fine, still learning the ropes here.
I am a Spring allergy sufferer too, as I get older the worse they are. Flonase helps so much.
-
Mags, showed Donnie the new platter under the light, he caught the beauty. Hope I can get it in a pic.
-
Mags this is an exact representation of the colors created by light with these stems. I walk out in the light of the sun very little color, but they're is color. In diffused light the colors are brilliant. Rotate the glass. It is breathtaking as the change of color occurs as it rotates. What recipe did this fall under?

Sassy, gorgeous! Did you look at replacements.com? I didn't see the second one but the first was there.

Sass i have the Shirley Temple milk pitcher since I was a little girl. It was a gift from a lady who let us live in her appartment in 1946 to 48 There was no place to live after the war, we slept in her living room, I always remember her she used to curl my hair like Shirley Temple.

We don't have any pollen blowing around yet... Everything is still just plain brown and dead looking... but I DID see a little Crocus, and a miniature daffodil by my Arbor in the garden! I was so excited! Hah! Just one of each... I know all of you are laughing now.....
Our little Aussie Chevy was allergic to SOMETHING! And when he sneezed, it was EVERYwhere! I was cleaning up after him with Kleenex, always wiping his nose... Just like a kid! They thought of sending us to Ft. Collins for testing, but didn't want to put him through that... So 1/2 a Benadryl helped, when it got bad....
Kath... yes... Mine started when I was about 15... but got much worse growing up... Mostly seasonal, but then year-round... always had Asthma and Bronchitis .... I did the shots twice... FIRST time this Quack gives everybody this ONE shot... if you show an allergic reaction, then he will give you the "standard western treatment"...
But that night, after the shot, I started breaking out in welts, face swelling up, and I called back, and they said "We told you to take those pills all at ONCE".... 6 Benadryl !!! I'm not kidding! The welts settled down, but man I was like sleep-walking!
I DID go back, but as the shots got stronger, the harder time I had... ONE time I was waiting that 20 minutes after the shot, and I started sliding down the wall... So they came running, and gave me adrenaline...
They finally reduced the potency of the shots, and I was able to give them to myself... but eventually even THAT wasn't enough...
They have to "balance" each patients needs with their treatments... I finally went to Denver Allergy and Asthma... and although it took much longer, it was safer.... I could even hear the cars blinkers!!
Even had to be re-tested.... I wasn't around many Horses, but they thought their hair? or something was made from that, and I was around it.
But finally as I got even OLDER, it all left! No allergies... except to chemicals, sprays, and like the "hot-spot spray" I used to use on Lacee....
WE got married at a Justice of the Peace! Ha! We didn't have any money, and my folks had moved out of State, and HIS folks REALLY didn't have any money... but it was all so much FUN!
-
Glennie....sorry, I didn't want to lose that post... Yes, once in awhile I still take a Claritin... but nothing is blooming yet... at least I don't get Bronchitis, nor Asthma attacks like I used to! (knock on wood here..)
But when I cough, I COUGH! Do YOU do that? I mean like shake the timbers off the house? I swear I was BORN with that cough! I don't MEAN to cough like that... and I know it ain't normal, but the Doctors just think it goes along with the territory. You know what helps more than ANYthing? Those hot Cinnamon candies! And Nyquil....or Dayquil... Those other cough medicines never helped me.
Loverly, FUNNY! Ha! Serves them right when they blow their little lab-houses to smithereens! Oh! Same with hash-oil, or whatever else they do with Marijuana...
Meadow, I used to use some nasal spray... Neo-synephrine I think it was.. But I used it ALL the time.... even finally diluting it with more salt-water, to make it last longer.. I became ADDICTED to it! Couldn't breathe without it... I had to just stop...! Couldn't breathe for awhile... but that was before I had to get those shots... And THEN we did it the "right way"....
Now I can hear Sass saying "She KNOWS better, she could have really damaged something in her innards!" Hah! "She should have done it the right way in the first place... damnit!" Hah!
But when you are so short on money, and raising 2 little girls, you scrimp until you squeak... And whatever happened to the Doctors that we went to, and we got treated and just paid THEM??? How come all these insurance companies took over, and now we have to pay through the NOSE to get something taken care of? We got treated, we had kids, and we just paid the people who took care of us! $300 to have my first baby in the Hospital! We should all live back in those days...
Spookie.... You up yet?
-
yeah mom, I'm up
-
LOL!
-
Chevy: Yes, I can COUGH,,, although it's not as bad as it used to be. I haven't had a bad case of bronchitis in a while. **knock on wood** Glad you got off the nose spray,,, Afrin and the like are bad,,, your nose gets used to it and refuses to breathe w/o it. 2 days therapy only. After that,,, it can be a problem to get off of it, as you experienced.
I have a little square in your first post. Is there supposed to be a picture there?
Spooks: I totally agree with that sign.
-
Chevy, my allergies disappeared as I got older too. Real bad as a kid. Went away in my 20's. Still have the bad peanut allergy, and to some meds. But that's it.
Patty, how are you doing? Sorry I haven't kept up, chemo weeks knock me out.
Sas, how s your shoulder? Hope all better
Have a fun Monday girls !
-
Oh Dang! Can't anybody else see that picture? It is the day we got married....
Susan.... Yeah, isn't that funny? I mean how they get better sometimes? Our youngest Grandson was born with asthma, but again, got better as he got older... Also, his allergies disappeared, and after they moved to Orlando.
-
Chevy, I have the box where the picture should be. Was blank but now it has a little blue box with a ? in it.
-
Lookforward - I totally understand your desire to support your local small businesses. My suggestion of going to Joann's was just that. I went through a period a few years back of knitting dish cloths and had a two drawer collection of cotton yarns. I think I knitted about 50 of those puppies. Recently gave all of my cotton yarn to a woman who is an avid knitter and she & her knitting group are making cute baby caps for the crisis pregnancy center here.
Spookie - I love your sign about going back to bed.
I have allergies too, but they are not the usual suspects like pollen, mold, etc. I was tested by an allergist. However, I absolutely cannot tolerate ANY perfumes, scented lotions, air fresheners, potpourri, bark dust, etc. I have asthma that is triggered by all of those, plus cold air or cold beverages. Several years back I was out walking in town, it was raining and very cold. I started coughing really hard and as I was crossing the street a huge amount of mucas came up, right there in the crosswalk. SOOOOO embarrassing! Luckily I had an umbrella covering my face. Doctors have wanted me to start steroid inhalers, but I won't because of the side effects of long-term use. And about 3 years ago the management of my apartment complex thought it would be a grand idea to have a landscaping company come in and spray cedar bark chips into the flower beds. Well I ended up in the E.D. with an asthma attack, then bronchitis. I offered to give them my hospital bill, but later decided to refrain since I want to continue living here.
Loverly - Have you ever heard of "The Honest Kitchen"? They are based in San Diego I believe. They sell a freeze-dried raw diet for dogs & cats. When I get my puppy, I plan on trying it. It seems a bit spendy, but because it is freeze-dried, a 10 lb. box makes 40 lbs. Also, I don't want to be a nag, but did you ever have a chance to check out that website I told you about? I also enjoyed your sign of the Minion.
I have tried water aerobics and while in the water my body & joints feel great, however, once back on dry ground, OMG! my whole body hurts sooo much. Very disheartening. I am going to try a ketogenic diet, like an article posted by Dr. Mercola talked about. Basically it is a low carb diet. Since sugar tends to feed cancer, plus increases triglycerides and the fat on the body. It is very surprising all of the hidden places you find tremendous amounts of sugars in the foods we eat. I know where I need to start first, but I am really struggling with the thought of giving up my morning coffee. If I could get past the use of flavored creamer & coconut sugar, I'd be good. But I hate black coffee! I am thinking I'll work on all the other areas first, then re-visit the coffee dilemma later.
Chevy - I can't see the picture either. The lilac tree in my yard has leaves sprouting on its branches. Yeah! However, the wind is a blowing here and rain on and off. I hope it doesn't damage that tree. Those pics you posted of Colorado State, were those last October? Wow, what a difference 24 hrs. can make.
Mags - Beautiful snack set. Back from the days when we had the time and desire to sit, visit and have a nice afternoon get together.
Also a big "Hello" to everyone else! Hope your week has started out well.
-
no picture Chevy. You have moved from tiny boxes to big boxes now.lol we see big box...big empty box
-
Okay, I'll try once more... This was 9/28/1957.... He was 29, I just turned 20... We went to a JP's house... nothing special, but we were Sooooo happy! If you can't see this pic, I'll give up...
-
I see the picture, and raise you an AAAWWWW!! (googlyeyes)
-
I see the picture. Lovely.
-
OOps, I meant he was 19.... not 29.... I'm over 4 months older than him....We've been together for 60 years.... but just 58 married....Our Daughter in Orlando, kept that tie....It's like that night, we went to our little apartment.... all married and just beginning... No big wedding.... we couldn't afford one... but it didn't matter.... Thanks Feline and Queenly!
