My moms bday was Dec 8. MIL was Dec 12. They had crappy birthdays that year.

hi all...went to another funeral this week. My age. Freaky sad story. Kidney infection...antibiotics....bad reaction from them. Blood clots...a couple surgeries....couldn't get it under control...she coded 3 times and died. All in 2 weeks. Still can't wrap my mind around it. So sad...

Oh my dear! Life is unpredictable. Our pastor's wife passed away two years ago this month from pulmonary embolism. Saw her at church on Sunday morning and got a phone call on Monday that she was gone. Autopsy showed she had mestastatic ovarian cancer. No one knew. Other than not feeling well Sunday evening, she had no pain. She was only 47.
-
Sad to hear. Those sudden deaths are so hard.

Patty, sorry you caught the flu bug. You have spent enough time in the bathroom these last couple of months, the universe should give you a pass on the flu!
Susan and Loverly, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of these women, so young.
-
Mamma Ray, you will be missed here, we will, leave the light on for you! Take good care, & hope to see you soon.
Jazzy, I have been on MANY road trips, but never alone.... So, I live in Southern Idaho. I will drive through Nevada to Vegas, bypass that & stay out side of the strip. This is a 8 hour drive, but I gain an hour going that way. Next day head to the S. Calif. Beaches. Stay for a week, then to Palm Springs to meet friends & golf. I have 4 sets of clubs in the back of my car. Taking them for the ladies, so theydo not have to hassle at the airport with them.
PattyP, sorry you got the bug, hope you chase it always.

Back in 2014 went to Savannah by myself for a long weekend. Had to get away from DH because he was acting out. It was so cleansing. Was like a pilgrimage for me. It's a beautiful city and I had nice leisurely days walking around and seeing the sites. Met several nice couples and had great conversations with them. And I'm an introvert! Have not ventured driving to or in a strange city yet.

Hi gals........Susan, I'm sorry about your friend... We just want to hang onto them forever.... and it hurts when we can't.
I hear you Kath.... Isn't it FUN when Husbands "act up?" I think a better term is acting like a D-head! See, I'm the "nurse" here, trying to keep track of the eye drops for Husbands cataract surgery eye. 4 times a day, with 3 bottles... And I keep track with this "chart".... But you would THINK I was pouring gasoline in his eye, for how much he moans & gripes about this whole thing! And this goes on for 3 weeks?????? No way in hell will I put up with this..... His eye is healing just fine.... All he has to do, is STFU when I am only trying to help him. Am I being a little harsh?
So I have it figured out... I'll give him the drops this morning, since this is his LEAST rebellious time.... Then if he pitches a fit ONCE more today, I will calmly say.... "I don't mind helping take care of you, but if you have to holler each time, then you can do it yourself."
I won't use the cast-iron skillet while explaining this.... I'll just hand over the bottles of drops, AND the chart, and say "Go for it cowboy... I'm done." It's just so hard dealing with a 12 year old brat!
We watched the Critics Choice awards... What is WRONG with these people? They try so hard to be "funny" and come off like such nincompoops!.... I didn't know most of them anyway.... And I guess they think it's funny to have 1/2 their "speeches" bleeped out! No class.
I mean you can TELL what they are saying, but in front of thousands of people? I at least WRITE it... I mean abbreviate most words.

Hol- you are going to have a Thelma and Louise adventure, without Louise! I have done many roads trips on my own and find them to be great "thinking time". Something about a woman and the open road that is very therapeutic. I wish you a most excellent trip!
-
HO1. - so excited for you. I agree with above. Something about a woman ....road. I hope you have a great time. And how sweet of you to bring all those -umm golf things - for everyone. Watch out for the smooth talking cowboys.
Chevy. So very funny. Thanks.
Susan and l - so sad.
We really aren't promised tomorrow. Hard for me to remember some days. I get so focused on all the dang cancer is doing to me snd how if will end that I forget ... I am NOT in control and even this cancer is NOT in control. For me , God is in control and these bodies we wear ...well they wear out. Stuffs happens. The whole universe is not turning just for the benefit of me as demanded.
Ok stepping down now. Brrr. BBl
Hugs all

Peppermint! Where ARE you? In the Yukon somewhere? I thought you were in Arizona.....??? Arkansas? I didn't think those places got that cold!
Sorry you don't feel in control..... I hate that feeling.... And I SURE don't have the problems you do....
We'll take care of you as best we can.... just wish there was something we could do....Love you girl..... xoxo
-
Chevy. I am inArkansas. Yes this is unusually cold for us. We are much more likely to see ice then snow here. You so sweet but I wasn't looking for pity ..sorry.. Patty. Just blowing off So did you snow ski growing up ? We went a few times when I lived I IL and had a blast but they had not invented the snow board yet. The snow bird looks like so much fun.
-
Come on over!! PARTAY🌴👙💅👣🍷.
-
and this too
-
jealous indeed
-
Don't be jealous!! Will be cold here tomorrow night. Chevy would break out shorts.
-
lol. True I am sure.
Now the wind chill has risen to 4. Brr
-
She is SUCH a brat! BAD girl! Peppermint, don't pay any attention to her..... she just likes to do this..... and I think it is funny!
DH is co-operating so NICELY about his eye drops.... I had my 2-cents loaded and ready to fire..... but so far, everything is cool.
I've been trying to ORGANIZE my 5,000 cassette tapes! Do any of you even KNOW what those are??? I'll get rid of some, but I used to have so much fun recording music from the radio in 1984 and 1985! That's what I'm listening to right now! I LOVED that music from that era.....
When we would stay at Sheri's house here in Denver or Colo.Springs, when they were on a trip, I would record all of her CD's onto tape! And I have a million of those TOO! I'm getting rid of about 20.... donating them.... they'll probably ask me what they are!
-
i no longer have cassette tapes but I do have records and 8 track
-
8 track, har har har!!!
You kids, go play on your phones
-
The vinyl is worth some $$ I wish I still had a turn table.
And I'm ALWAYS on my phone, no computer.
-
I have a turntable that I never use,,, have some albums and a ton of cassette tapes. The problem is finding people who want to pay you $$ for them. I never play the cassettes, but I'm having a hard time parting with them.
-
YOU have 8 track tapes? Now THAT is old! I used to have 78's, 45's and 331/3rds.... but I recorded the ones I liked onto cassette tapes..... NOW you can listen to anything on I-tunes! I used to make lists of my favorite songs, and burn them onto CD's from my I-tunes library.
I got rid of all our viny's.... When I took them to a buy-back record shop, they weren't worth much at the time....
Split-bean! THAT was funny!!!!!!!!!!!! And I don't have a fancy phone.... Just a computer, and a cell from Sprint, used mostly for Emergencies, but I can text, or use it to call when I am not home... My computer has 26 inch screen.... or 32 ".....
BUT we DO have electricity.... so HAH! AND indoor plumbing! Our house was built in 1886 and at that time, everyone had outhouses.... but this was remodeled a FEW times.... I love this old Victorian house!
-
Indoor plumbing is awesome. One of the top 10 inventions, IMO.
-
My grandparents lived on a farm not far from where Zills lives. They had a 3 seater outhouse. Got mighty chilly in the winter.
Glennie, there is always ads in my paper people want to buy vinyl. There's even a few stores in St Petethat sell the oldies.
-
Guess I need to see what the things are going for.
-
What?!? 3 seater outhouse? I don't think I want to go to the restroom with 2 other people at the same time
-
Lack of heat in the winter and splinters would be my concern.
