Seems like I've always been cold in winter. The last Christmas up north, it was below zero. I had on double pants, shirts, socks, even shoes!! A fire going, thermostat on 80, still cold. My mom came in sweating buckets.
Chevy laughs at me, I really can't stand it. I'd never survive at her house, it's fun to joke and laugh though.
-
Chevy best wishes to your DH.
-
chevy. - with you tomorrow for Mr c cataract surgery. Yes I agree. : its scary to be out of our control. Relax. You'll have him home quickly with a new twinkle in his eyes. We miss you.
Jwoo. I pray for 2016 to be a much better year for you. For all the of us.
Sas. - OK where you at on planning dinner party?
Loverly. - thanks.
Dh is home sick. Some sort of stomach bug. Yesterday was his bday and felt pretty rough but full on today. He almost never gets sick. Refuses to take off work for illness but he did today so that's tells me how miserable he must be. Trying to keep him quarantined in the bedroom. Typical man being sick. Wish we had s she shed outside and I would escasoe there with the boys to prevent catching ANYTHING!
Hootie hoo
-
spookie. Too funny. !!!
-
Oh Patty, sorry for your DH bugs are lousy things, but do indeed take care of yourself.
-
Everybody at DDs had it last week. Both ways. 5 people, one bathroom. Thank goodness for buckets. We refused to let them come over.
-
spookie. Don't blame you at all. 🙇
-
Chevy, I had a cataract done in Sept. They gave me a halcion under my tongue. It's a sleeping pill but just relaxed me. Went home right afterwards. Not nearly as dangerous as anesthetic. In your pocket tomorrow.
-
Plan to take a nap today went right out the window, Princess was in one of her "let's not let mommy get a nap" moods today.
-
Thanks Wren! The "pre-surgery" nurse called just to remind us, and said we would only be there about 2 hours! And no food or drink until after... So I'll see what he feels like.... either picking up breakfast or lunch, or coming home and having me fix up something good.
MAN, I have everything here.... Biscuits, gravy, cut up cooked pork-steaks, mashed potatoes, or baked... And lots of eggs... OH! And a whole can of roasted chili's and tortillas....! Y'all want to stop by for something to eat?
I also have "Congee"... and cooked wheat berries.... and I just bought Grape-fruit... 4/ $1... I I bought 8 more...
I forgot to say hello to Nettie! How you doin' girl? I figure we always have to have something to worry about ..... It's just so nice when everything is going along smoothly....
It's 60 here Spookie! Cloudy but warmer.... Aw geez, I forgot someone else, but I gotta post this, before I can go back...
-
Hey JWOW....! And everyone else... ! Love you guys....
-
-
chevy. I wanna come. Sounds delightful. We are in your pocket for tomorrow .
OK dh been home sick as full day. Men and sickness. Not a good combo. Oh well. I enjoy taking care of him. A teeny tiny bit of what he has done for me over the years. Just scared of catching it esp after my attempt to stay warm and cut down on the electric heat. Got Lysol everyegere. Confining him to bedroom. A friend is taking the boys to church tonight. So it was hurry to have dinner and do homework to get done in time. Luckily it was leftover night. Main choices were lasagna ( yum that ones mine ), potatoes and keibsa sausage soup ( dh's dads family recipe very easy, cheap, quick and delicious), beef stew . yea at least my fridge has some room again. We got these friends who refuse to eat leftovers. Weird to me sometimes better the 2nd time anyway. Anyone here also don't do leftovers ?
Hootie hoo
-
Me. Hate 'em. Think plastic containers should be illegal. Only make enough for one meal.
-
I love leftovers. They are just as good the 2nd night as the night they were cooked! Always dress it up a bit the 2nd night!
-
We eat all our leftovers.
-
lol spookie.
I also have s sis n law who won't eat her food if it touches other food on her plate. Weird.
Other left over lovers out there ?
-
-
Patty, got the saffron today, Di cleaned and did extra. No you shouldn't change a thing about talking. Essex forever.
Jwooo. what a year. Baby, hugs and let's have some hot chocolate
-
We try to eat all of our leftovers. Stew or anything braised taste better the next day. I agree plastic containers should be banned. We keep our leftovers in either glass containers or steel pots.
-
Definitely the beautiful door. Oh the joy on their faces is precious.
-
Ohhh, the dreaded stomach flu. Years ago, before we got married, DH and I confessed to each other that we were private thrower-uppers. So in the case of barfing, there was no expectation that I wanted my hair held back, or my back rubbed, or anything soothing. Just give me drugs, a pillow, and a blanket, and I'll camp out on the bathroom floor. DH prefers a bucket.
Since he's been so sick, we have separate bedrooms. He has no immune system at all, and I catch everything. Our hours are totally reversed. So if either of us is ill, it's easy to contain it to one room.
We buy Lysol Spray and Clorox Wipes by the case, as well as surgical masks and surgical gloves. We rarely have company because our house is always disinfected from top to bottom.
That norovirus (stomach flu virus) can stay active on hard surfaces for at least three days... and you can be contagious a few days BEFORE you show any symptoms, and at least a week AFTER you have symptoms.
Living at our house is like living at a hospital. Sheesh!
Big get well wishes to all fighting the virus-du-jour!

Just a quick hi before I disappear again. Very busy on new contract, moving at warp speed this week.
The GI thing is going around here big time. I had some problems late last week, it went away and then came back big time on Sunday. Better now and not as bad as everyone else around me. I am sitting in a pit of sickness right now.
Someone asked about left overs! I love them, often cook on the weekends and left overs are my meals the rest of the week. Not everything makes good leftovers, but so many things do!
Hoping everyone here is staying health!
-
Watching the dance clip with tears! Beautiful !!
Spookies, do you cook every meal? Wow, how could you not to have leftover? Throw away after each meal
-
Depends on the leftover. I do at least one crockpot a week. Lasts for 6-8 meals. Donnie takes some to work and he likes them for breakfast too. Hearty meal going to do heavy labor. Saves money. Tastes good.
Eeyore, Me too
-
Not much going on for me today, which is a good thing.
-
Thanks Sas. Crying in my breakfast. All beautiful, especially whoever thought it up.
Have you tried the saffron yet? Forget when dinner is? How exciting. You must be chuffed.
I like leftovers but it's the three day rule, especially now I'm back on chemo. I love crockpots and casseroles. Cook once, eat twice:)
PP stay healthy
Chevy in the bag and then breakfast

Morning girls! Everything going good here...! So happy when this day is over with... And Janie is coming over this afternoon after her foot Dr. and her Mammogram appointments... Going to stop for carry-out dinner, so that will make the whole day fun.
Peppermint! Oh I know what you mean, about when these guys get sick! No, don't you get sick... don't need no more of that.....
I think the reason some of you don't like left-overs, is because you didn't have to eat them when you were kids..... My Grandma and my Mom always made enough dinners so we could have the left-overs... And hardly ever threw anything out... So maybe that's where I get it... and now with just 2 of us, it is just hard to cook for a "few".... Ha!
But I make a lot, then either freeze some, or give it to Janie, keeping left-overs for us.... or the chickens....
... or squirrels...
I remember one of my SIL's...(younger) would peel potatoes from a 5 pound bag, maybe use half, then throw the rest away that she didn't need for dinner. And no left-overs! Of ANYthing! She gave it all away, or threw it out! She was like my own grocery store! But they had a lot of money to waste.... and she DID.
Spookers.... And plastic containers? Hah! I'll bet your refrigerator is ALways clean!
Yes Mom2... Left-overs are GOOD for you! We didn't have to send our food to "China".... we had to EAT it! They always made us feel guilty, if we didn't want to finish our dinner, saying all the poor little orphans weren't so LUCKY to have food, and they would send it over there.
We lived in a concentration camp..... probably.
Peppermint, that is so funny! About food not touching other food! When I put food in my plate, or even salad in a bowl, I take turns eating each thing. And then when I finish, EVERYthing is done at the same time. I see people eating their meat... then their potatoes.... ONE THING AT A TIME! This must mean something.......... shut up Spookie! I can just hear you laughing and saying "That girl is NUTS!"
Beautiful video Sass! Did you make anything with your Saffron yet? I have made Saffron Risotto MANY times, and I love it! I only use a pinch... the girls brought me some from their trip to LA...
Do you cook with fresh Ginger? That's how you make Congee... And it's GOOD for you! Spookie is probably running for the bathroom about now... Ha!
Hi Zills! Okay you gals.... have a fun day.... thinking of you all....
