Still sitting here in the hospital waiting for them to get mom into surgery. They moved it back 2 hours. Oh well.

My great grandma grew up in Missouri with 12 brothers and sisters. She would sit in her rocking chair and tell me stories right out of Little House on the Prairie. Fabulous having it right in my room and she loved passing them along.

Mags, You might point out that all those people were older than him and treatment has changed in the meantime. Used to be people wouldn't even go see a doctor until it was too late.

wren - all those siblings I bet your great grandma did have some awesome stories. I love listening to old people and getting the history. Not that we have any old people here, right Chevy?

Sas. - the diaper thing was just temporary. I had too many accidents I had used all of my clothes. But dear husband brought me a lot more and I'm good to go. Hope it's a while before I need to know how to diaper myself again.

    Jazzy. Until we meet again.

Lovely. - lol. I too would clean my house before I had a housekeeper come. Oh I did that a couple times. That was a waste of money. I guess I missed what was wrong with your mom why she was having surgery. Hope everything is okay. Angry spittle is complete boredom. Hope you brought a face mask or something so you don't catch any infections while you're there.

So good news for me. Mo just came in and said CT scan from yesterday was stable and a few tumors have shrunk! So we agreed to stay on the Ibrance medicine and instead of three weeks on and one week off at a reduced doseage we're going to do 1 week on 1 week off at the full dosage. I am so happy. Do a little happy dance. My last scan I had progression in 7 spots. So this is so much better. Mo is trying to get them to put a port in while I'm here since I'm such a hard stick. He said they really do not like to do it why do I have an infection. However I've been on three antibiotics since Saturday so I'm hoping they will. I have had a port before and was reluctant to get another one. Just because it is a daily reminder when I look in the mirror or even when I just touch it of a cancer battle. However looks like at this point is my only option. Oh well could be worse I could be dead and not need a port.

    Hootie hoo

hello ladies. thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Was able to get in earlier this am - got a chest xray. No pneumonia, just bronchitis. it was the pneumonia I was worried about fresh off of chemo and rads. Stayed home from work today and worked remotely. I wish I could say I rested - but I have a nanny - and listening to her watch my kids while I am home drives me INSANE. In January I am moving my kids to a full day preschool and an afterschool program(3 more weeks!) but for right now...being home is stressful! Pesky fever won't give it up...but this too shall pass.

Tres, good that it's not pneumonia. What are they doing for you for the bronchitis? Staying home sometimes can be more stressful than going to work.

Patty, mom is having surgery to have a 4 cm cyst removed from her neck. She finally agrees to have it done. A friend of mine removed the fluid from where the cyst is about 3 years ago and told us that the fluid will continue to come back unless the cyst sac is removed. She is right. Still waiting for them to take her in OR room....

Patty... Tell them you want Ham Hocks and Beans.... with lots of garlic and onions.... Never mind all this soft stuff!

Okay, and then Tres! You "only have Bronchitis??????" I was always sicker with that than I was with pneumonia! I remember how my chest hurt with each breath, and then that cough from hell!

I ALways had to get an antibiotic, because with Asthma, you can't get over that by yourself....

Just take care of yourself.... drink gallons of water.... stay warm.... and get lots of rest!

Yes Sass.... that's just like I had to go to the bathroom, and I got in a wheel-chair with my broken hip! Had to get out by myself, and fall on the toilet, and try and get back UP again, and into the wheel-chair! THEN when they got me back in bed, some moron decided "maybe she should have a catheter"..... and this is AFTER the X-rays! Sometimes these hospital people just don't THINK!

Mags.... don't know what to say about your DH.... He needs a diversion... Just change the subject when he gets wrapped up in it?

Yes Peppermint! I will be the Senior advisor in this group...Ha! But still use those pads when you need to.... much easier than a diaper...

I'm so happy you are doing better again! That is great news... they will figure you out YET...! I just knew they would.

I'm going in tomorrow to whine about my lower partial. I think I can get de-sensitized to it... I have this magic cream, I told you about... and wearing it off and on is helping... I'll see what he says...

Loverly.... My DH had a pocket removed from his neck too.... a long time ago.... BIG cyst... like the size of a golf-ball.... but THAT Doctor did it in the office.... and it never came back.... I was watching, and nearly threw up.... He had it drained a few times before, but you are right... it just comes back... It was a Sebaceous cyst.... Those things are just gross.

It is soooooo fun to listen to Theresa, who is 90, talk about when she was younger...! We went to see her today... She is a feisty little thing! And we stopped next door to see Wilma, and her little dog Abby... I always take her pieces of chicken...(the dog) and a warm scarf and crochet cap I made for Wilma.... SHE is 87.... !! Abby was so fun to play with! A little tiny poodle, and she jumps on my lap and buries her head in my hand, and jumps all over me....

So that was our day....! Oh! Stopped at Walmart, and we split a hamburger! I know, I know.... but we love that! I am so lucky we still have each other, and can get around like we do!

Bye gals.... talk to you in the morning!

hi on kindle, computer broke again. Waiting for tech buddy.

    Yay Patty, good report.

Lovely, yes, each trip to a thrift is an adventure. Wandering around with no particular expectation....and then an ah-hah moment. Always a surprise. And cheap. Two nice combos. Plus, I thrifted before the trouble. After everything started I found myself planning thrift shop stops before and after the doc visits. Very much distracted from the doc visits. There were 258 doc visits the first year between Greg and I. Loved the distraction.

In the Steam Room a gal needed this. I thought with all the wonderful people here and our wonderful lurkers, it would be a wonderful thing to repost. It was posted by our Bluebird before she became Fierce Bluebird. I kept it in storage. Originally too, it was either a reprimand or part of a ban because I spammed it on many threads. The Mods just didn't get that many people don't travel all over these threads.

I love my Knitted Knockers! They are light and soft and warm. Unlike my silicone prosthetic which is heavy and cold when first worn, then it later causes me to sweat.

I wear my knitted knockers inside a regular bra or tucked in the pocket of a mastectomy bra. They are beautiful, and a godsend to those of us with an uneven mastectomy scar.

Tres, glad to hear it's just bronchitis. Hopefully they gave you some medicine?

Sas, 258 visits in one year? That's bascially one visit for each weekday for an entire year. No wonder you needed a distraction. You've had some really good finds. I don't see stuff like that in our thrift shops very much, the good stuff goes too fast. Or maybe I just don't get out often enough!

Cubbie, DH Greg kept the record and the mileage. I did remember the mileage for that year for awhile, but forgot long ago. The record keeping was for tax purposes. But I never asked him if it made a difference.

We did link visits. i.e MO, cardiologist, surgeons. The master schedule book was a must. It was totally ridiculous. We had a ridiculous amount of things go wrong, that resulted in even more Ologists becoming involved .

But looking back the thrifting made me happy in a very unhappy situation. Greg too.

Cubbie, Greg was dx'd with lymphoma 3 months after me. Two with active cancer the same year. I started in Jan and him in April. (3 months by days). He passed in Aug 2010. No clue what the total visits in 2010 were, but they were ridiculous too. He had a spider bite on New years weekend. It delayed his next chemo by weeks. Then ten hospital admissions (4 chemo, 6 foul ups). He passed in August that year. Sucked.

For anyone that didn't know Bluebird, she was one of us that had a beautiful spirit. She changed her name to Fierce Bluebird when she was dx'd with a metastatic brain tumor. The reason she's not FBB in the above post is I put it in storage when she posted it. Once it's put in a post it stays the same.

She passed last August 2014. The Fierce Bluebird pic is in the topic box.

Ok you've done almost 3 pages since last night and I can't remember what happened yesterday on here. I'm done for.

We had that weird sky today for just a bit this afternoon - I think it is called clear blue. Just in time for the sun to start setting. And yes for a big YAY heat did get fixed yesterday. I got an appt for afternoon and the guy showed up about 8:15 just as I was finished feeding the goats. Thank goodness I don't get service based on my looks or the state of my house lol. We know the heat guy, goes to our church, installed the unit and lives not far. I think he kinda put us #1 even though I assured recept. that we did indeed have heat. It was the thermostat despite parts of it working just fine. DH and I have been getting colder/colder in here with same setting - I just attributed to being old farts. I think it has been failing for a while just keeping an accurate temp.

Sassy - I agree that table works excellently for a console table for you computer. And I see it working for a skinny buffet table.

Tres - Yay for no pneumonia. Hope whatever meds PCP gave you gets you some rest. Hugs sister.

Patty - I'll add my YAY on here too. Hope they are able to get your port done and you get home soonest.

Mags - Sure sounds like a bad state he's in. I suppose you've had the "I need you strong for ME" talk. And when I say stuff like that I ask myself could I do that but think I could if I was mad enough. And your cleaning lady - no words. She does a good job? and sure sounds like she needs the work. Hope her MRI comes out OK and grocer pays for it (or the food co she does demo's for).

MostlyMom - Jessie looks like such a sweetheart. Tough decision. I've had to do it with a cat, dog and many goats including the lovie one who is my avatar.

Susan - hoping you have a good day with mom.

Wrapping this up and off to bed.

LMG, the owner of the grocery is a good guy. My sister knew him well. He catered her wedding free. He hires the Downs kids because it gives them pride. I haven't heard from her so I'm assuming she's ok to come Thursday.

Yes, I've had the "I need you strong for me" talk. Today I reminded him of what the MO said, and told him if it did come back, in a year, or five, or ten, I don't want to waste the time we have. I don't know if it got through.

    Yay Patty!

My good friend Jackie posted this on another thread...

I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later.

I don't have to go to school or work.

I get an allowance every month.

    I have my own pad.

    I don't have a curfew.

I have a driver's license and my own car.

I have ID that gets me into bars and the whisky store.

The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant.

    And I don't have acne.

    Life is great.

Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe.

Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full, so too, do humans take longer to access information when their brains are full.

Researchers say this slowing down process is not the same as cognitive decline. The human brain works slower in old age, said Dr. Michael Ramscar, but only because we have stored more information over time. The brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know more.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.

    SO THERE!!

I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can't remember their names. So, please forward this to your friends; they may be my friends, too.

Just popping on to say this. Yahoo has story about the recall of celery. "Among the stores involved are Walmart, Sams Club, Costco, Albertsons, 7-Eleven, Target and Safeway". Mostly Western states but I think I say IL on one or two. Appears not to be celery by the stalk from grocery but premade things. Here's the link to the Yahoo story and the FDA link for exact brands/code numbers.

Tree up. Kids decorated. Kinda sparse but done.

Yeah! For Ibrance. Hootie Hoo. Can't wait for you to feel better again. I love my port.

Wow I could not type on any page anywhere. Opened another browser and miraculously am able to type again on the old browser.

Zills - I have the double bergamot Earl Grey from Stash. It is very good but I think I'm not really a great Earl Grey fan. I have 3 kinds of tea in DH's cart on Amazon. I think one is Bewleys Dublin Morning Tea. The other one is Glengettie which is a Typhoo company. I really wanted some Thompsons Irish but it's not available with Amazon Prime or some Murroughs Welsh Brew. I also have Bewleys Irish Afternoon tea.

BUT I just did a tour of the British Emporium out not too far from where DD lives. I might be able to convince her to drive me there Saturday. It's out by the airport and really congested/confusing roads, that is if she's not working. If she will I will remove most from the cart and keep maybe just one kind. DH keeps telling me with Prime just get on and order what I want - within reason. I can't buy clothes/shoes online so tea/foods is just about it. I would order books but we are drowning them - no Kindle etc.

    http://www.british-emporium.com/

Well that clinches it. Holiday Open House with Father Christmas on Dec. 5. I'm sure I can find it even if she can't go. Besides the clothes shopping out that way is so much better than in Ft Worth. They have the biggest Penneys I've ever seen plus Macys/Dillards/Nordstroms that I've never been in.

Sassy - I would have no tree if DH had his way. One year we both had the flu and he says it was his favorite after we recovered from the flu. But I'm moving furniture gently and vacuuming where it will go. He can put it up Saturday along with the heat lamps in the goat barn. It has turned into a beautiful day lovely blue skies, almost no wind. Goats are having a lie about in the yard sunning themselves.

Rosie - I wanted to come back to you separately. Hugs and More Hugs sweet sister. Just like I wished for Patty I wish I could be there physically for you. I love your brutal honesty in writing and think you missed a calling in that. Just a thought - does anything like Reglan help you? I was wondering if the heartburn so bad could be from delayed emptying.

Hi gals.... Good to see you little Rosie...! Just stay with us..... You and Peppermint are causing me enough worry....

Okay, ask about my teeth..... The Dentist was very helpful.... Said yes, he has heard of this before, and it happens SOMEtimes, but he can FIX the problem by taking them back to the lab, and something about the polymer, has to be set-up a little different, by putting it in this machine to do some damn thing.... I forget.... But I can pick them up again tomorrow before I go meet Janie for lunch...

You guys, I'm so worried.... It's all going on again.... Programs interrupted because of the shooters in San Bernardino.... It just makes you sick.... It hurts your heart, and makes you afraid....... It's all so hard to comprehend that so many sick people can hold us all hostage! By making us afraid to go out, or go shopping to a shopping center....

I'm just glad my Mom isn't around to hear about this... I thought she shouldn't get worried about such things, but she always got upset.... Just like me now.... Take good care girls.....
