So...whats for dinner?

Beautiful - absolultely beautiful. Thanks for sharing. The first picture sums it all up.... even I am tearing up.
-
Those in-laws would never be allowed back...no matter "the cost".
Eric -
Ditto to that Eric.
hope all are well and those who need to staying dry and those with any SE's minimal ones.
Apple... yikes indeed !!?
-
I made sourdough whole wheat pancakes for breakfast. All are happy. Even the dogs...they are licking the bowl.
Sharon is smiling bit....finally....so her SEs are dimenishing. Still not much energy though.
Not many in laws here. 3 total for the two of us.....my brother is in China....so really it is just our two moms.
Eric -
Minus, the play was The Complete History of America (Abridged), and it provided a laugh a minute with three very high energy actors and some hysterical interplay with the audience. We've been going to this particular theatre, the Winnipesaukee Playhouse in Laconia, NH for about six years, and they do a totally professional job, with actors from NYC. I had read nothing about this play beforehand, and was so pleasantly surprised, especially after our soaking snafu on the way there.
Had brunch at a little bakery/deli/restaurant, Cornucopia, here in Bristol, where for a very small price you get a lot of food. I overindulged (after all, I did sprint to the theatre last night). Audrey, the owner, makes the best chocolate croissants, which I could not resist, along with a buttermilk pancake and blueberry maple syrup, bacon, and a veggie omelet. Topped it all off with some watermelon and a few local strawberries which were so sweet! Maybe this wouldn't sound so bad if I included what I did NOT have....apple turnovers, home fries, biscuits and gravy, sausage patties, and red hash.....
Audrey is a nutritionist and as she put it, once a month she does this brunch since everyone can have a little treat that often. She barely has any fat on her!
The "outlaw" issue can be tough, and I would definitely have a serious problem re-inviting ones who let their kids run wild, let alone help themselves to my things. -
Oh dear, I think I am very much in need of a chicken cutlet after seeing how I look in my bathing suit. I suppose that will mean getting a suit that accommodates it. Well, DH is waiting at the beach so I'll just brave it and talk to neighbors with my arms folded.
-
Deb, I loved your pics. Apple, unbelievable. Geesh. I have had a niece (adult) take my pain pills, and confronted her about it. She is in counseling now. But removing stuff in suitcases and then saying you gave them stuff? Whn you are right there? Wow, you are a very strong woman.
-
Wow - just had a tornado come through the neighborhood! And what do I do? Post on BCO! It knocked over trees, and took out a number of pool cages. For those without Florida experience, we mostly have screened cages enclosing our pools - like a screened in patio or lanai but it covers the whole pool area. A number of them have blown off the pools and are in the woods or out in the street! DD says it flattened a path right through the woods and you could track the damage as it came through. It stopped just short of our house, but did take shingles off our roof and flattened some plants. We have water up to the doors and it is supposed to keep raining for the next three days - yikes!
-
SpecialK: OMG..I didn't even know there was a tropical storm anywhere near Florida..we get little to no news up in this area about Florida unless it is going to threaten NC. Bad weather like that can really do damage to those pool and screened enclosures...we now have the hurricane type enclosure, but I'm sure the screens would blow out in a bad wind. Glad you are safe.
-
kaara - this is from Hurricane Debbie that is out in the Gulf. It is spawning tornadoes around New Port Richey, Odessa, right over by Moffitt Cancer Center on the campus of USF, and a number of areas moving east. They are expecting 24" of rain over the next couple of days here. I am supposed to have a skin cancer removed tomorow over at USF - but maybe not...
-
Wow, SpecialK, so glad to learn you are safe after such a close call. It seems that tornadoes are everywhere these days, and capriciously brutal in their travel paths.
-
Tornado?! I am glad you are safe SpecialK- good luck tomorrow, I hope you still able to get it removed.
So.....we are back! I had no cell or Internet the entire weekend, which is a first for me, lol! We had a great time and the haddock on the grill Saturday night came out amazing. So what if we ate it in the camper in the pouring rain, right? We were actually all at the pool when they came over a speaker and told us the pool was closed and please go back to your campers as severe storms were coming in. As we road our bikes back you could hear the thunder....I was VERY nervous. But we got everything under cover and the thunder storm never came. It poured for about an hour and a half but that was it. We actually had the presence of mind to get our fire going before the storm came in and it survived the rains and we were one of the few that had a nice fire all night. Stayed up late chatting with friends and enjoying some wine.
We got back around lunch time and invited the neighbors down for a swim once we unpacked and passed the afternoon with them. For dinner tonight is what was left from camping:) Boys had cheeseburgers and DH and I used the left over bacon for BLT's. Nice and easy. I think we will all be going to bed early tonight. But maybe not- as always, it feels great to be home! Hope everyone else doing well and had a wonderful weekend!
-
Michelle- Thats one of the hundreds of things i love about you, you are always thinking of someone else. ((smiles))) Sounds like you had a wonderful night rain or shine.
Apple- That's horrible that you can't even trust your inlaws in your home. I applaud you for catching them red handed. Years ago i had some so called friends stay with us, and i wanted to check there suitcases while they were in the bathroom but was afraid i would get caught and look like the thief. LOL! I had a candle and some glass globes missing which i loved, needless to say i never called them back.
Lacey- I can just picture what you went through trying to get to the play. On the good side, your car wan't towed when you got back.
Specialk- Omg, how horrible, i would of been scared out of my wits. Do you have a basement? Just glad you are safe! Hope everything is ok with your skin cancer, and they get it all.
Laurie- Glad you are back home and safe and the storms didn't get as bad as anticipated.
Lets see, they have Debbie downer, hurrican Debbie, Debbie does dallas (lol) Why not Debbie Sunshine or something positive!
Hate when that happens!! sorry!
-
Special k glad you are ok. Laurie, I am happy you had a good(if wet) campout. Lacy you will definetly have a good story to tell about the play! My brother in law had a cookout today. My DH went fishing with the big brother, big sister outing to help and came home with some fresh salmon so we grilled it too, Yum.Much love to all.
-
Laurie - I thought about you yesterday when we were on our way home from Boston and the radar showed storms still lingering up in your direction. Good thinking to have the fire going before the rains came! We ate many a meal inside during a passing rainstorm!
Debbie - we'll just have to come up with something nicer for Debbie...but right this minute I'm so tired I can't even think...LOL! We were in the lake all afternoon with the kiddies then Rick and I made teriyaki beef kebobs with grilled veggies, rice, and bread for dinner. I may not move a muscle all day tomorrow!!!
SpecialK - oh my, tornadoes and 24" of rain??? We lived in the Kansas City area and most of the tornadoes were around us but not over us. But 24" of rain is indication it's time to build the ark!!!
Lacey - what a great story to remember 20 years from now! And chicken cutlet - ah, you can order them on Amazon! Land's End is a good place for mastectomy bathing suits. Also, some of the two piece tops have an opening so you can "enhance" your bustline. I think I saw some at Penney's. And that breakfast place sounds like something we need to check out!
I'm still dumbfounded that house guests, relatives or not, would help themselves to their hosts' possessions. It just blows my mind.
-
Houseguests stealing?? This is why we have no guestroom at our home in Florida..lol! When relatives come to visit they can stay in a hotel or sleep on the sofabed in my office...NOT! I can't imagine accepting someone's hospitality and then stealing something from them. Now I've heard everything!
-
Ok- I am going to have to go back and read the three pages I missed while camping and having no cell coverage. House guests stealing??? Insane. I remember in my early 20's having a friend who crashed in our spare bedroom on a regular basis. One night he had too many drinks and used "the good towels" I had a talk with him about it :P (there is no such thing as good towels anymore, the boys have seen to that) Stealing? Apple I am so sorry!
Debbie- How about Little Debbie- I know a lot of people who get smiles from her snack cakes:)
-
omy gosh special K.. i have never even seen a tornado.. how terrifying.
-
Darling Determined Debbie, do not stress about all of those unflattering associations to your name....I know we can all come up with more fitting positive ones! Your determination has gotten you through so much!!
Just to finish my day of oralmania, for dinner we went out to a little pub down in town, and while I didn't think I was even hungry before we left the house (just really tired after so much exertion sitting and talking at the beach!!), a lamb burger caught my eye on the menu. OMG! What an appetite enhancer! It was made with garlic and rosemary and served on a ciabbatta bun with feta, lettuce, tomato, and red onion slices (sorry). I ate the whole thing! Have never had a lamburger before, but I'll be back for that one! Maybe not on the same day on which I've had a big brunch! -
Laurie, "Little Debbie" is such a cute reference....but of course I'm all about food today, so I'd love it! It does erase all those downer references.
And how about Debbie Dynamite? OK I'm shutting myself off now..... -
Lacey- lol- I need to shut myself off too! The lamb patty burger sounds great! You just confirmed for me thatI need to go to the "other" grocery store. I used to make lamb patties with tomato and mozzarella and oregano all the time, fry up zucchini sticks with a hiney mayo dip. I haven't done it in forever becaue my regular store never puts their ground lamb on sale it's 8.99 a pound! But.....if I go to the store I HATE I can get it for 4.99 a pound.....I am going to go this week. I love that dinner. Glad you had a great dinner tonight!! Nothing better!
-
lol-hiney mayo dip- Debbie, that typo is for you!!
HONEY mayo dip;P
I now understand why my junior year english teacher took 10 points off my grade often....
-
I think I mentioned the swim poofy here. There is a new thread under reconstruction that has pics of how to do it. Sorry I can't link. But just FYI.
-
Laurie and Lacey, Im laughing so hard right now. Little debbie,, Darling determined Debbie, ok those will work, thanks im happy now! LOLLOL!!
gotta love the hiney Laurie. Too funny LOL!
-
Moonflwr- I will check out the swim puffy i didnt have much luck when i went to hawaii with anything i was happy about. I have no cleveage what so ever on the left side, its kind of conclave so really cant wear anything that is low. I often wonder what those w/o recon handle this.
-
Debbie - there are some women without recon who are starting to go topless...there was a lawsuit in WA, I think, and the decision was made to allow women without breasts to go topless in the city pools. I couldn't do it.
Moonflwr - I tried, rather unsuccessfully, earlier this year to make a swim form out of a bath poofy. I'll check out the thread and see if there is something I missed earlier. But you still have to have a suit that has an opening or one where you can make a slit to cram it in there, or somehow stitch it in place. I have actual mastectomy bathing suits (not exactly the most fashionable styles) and I can use my real breast forms with the suits.
I'm so not doing anything today except reading and I "might" vacuum if I can muster the energy. Yesterday wore me out. It was a fun day but next time I need DH to be around to help out.
-
-
Yesterday I went fishing with my hubby. He caught a nice little (13 lb) King salmon. So, for dinner we had poached salmon with lemon sauce and stuffed portabelo mushrooms. Blueberries for desert.
On the different topic - I don't know how anyone with a mastectomy could go topless - it would just freak me out. After the mastectomy and before recon I purchased a swim "falsey" and converted one of my bathingsuits into a mastectomy suit by sewing in my own sleeve. It worked out OK.
-
i could never imagine going topless.. ick
we are having hebrew national hotdogs this evening.. they are delicious.
-
I couldn't imagine going topless? Why?
I am thinking dinner tonight will be eggplant parm.....
After a very busy weekend we are having a stay at home and do nothing day. Made some banana bread, doing laundry and odd chores around the house while the boys play with play doh. Thunderstorms are supposed to be off and on all day.
Michelle, it looks like you might have gotten the big ones this morning? Hope all is ok and you are enjoying a quiet day. We were lucky and it stayed south of us this morning....I am hoping we luck out this afternoon too.
