Another Hall here!  It's DH's last name and my "married" last name.

Our departure date is tomorrow so I decided it was time to use an Outback restaurant gift certificate and not cook tonight.  My youngest sister and her dh will join us.  This afternoon I will transfer most of the contents of the house refrig. to the rv refrig.

Last night was a veggie dinner.  Okra and tomatoes that was delicious.  Cooked some chopped bacon in saute pan.  Added chopped fresh okra.  Cooked it a bit.  Added diced garlic, s & p, onion powder.  Cooked a little more and added small can of tomatoes (fresh would be great), covered and turned fire low.  Cooked about 30 min. stirring occasionally to prevent burning.  Also had white corn on the cob from CSA veggies.  Very sweet.  Third dish was a zucchini and squash dish out of the freezer that a neighbor gave us.  She grows a garden.

Last CSA pickup yesterday.  The bag was loaded.  Huge red and yellow bell peppers.  Corn.  MORE eggplant!  Potatoes.  Cucumbers.  Heirloom slicing tomatoes.  Red and yellow cherry tomatoes.  Carrots.

Cannot imagine no A/C although I grew up in a home without A/C back in the days when nobody had it.  We had a big window fan.  I don't remember being uncomfortable.  We leave our A/C on during the summer but set up at 82 degrees.  It probably doesn't run a lot with the house shuttered.  Our electric bill is very low during those months, less than $50.

    Happy Thursday to all.

Carole:  My ex's family was from Lousiana...connection maybe?  I LOVE okra and tomatoes.  I fix them the same way, only I usually add a can of Rotel tomatoes and green chilis to give it a little spice.  BF isn't wild about it, and now he's allergic to tomatoes so I haven't made it this year.  I think I'll make a dish for myself...it keeps and can be served over brown rice as a vegetarian dish.

I grew up in Texas with no A/C...we had a huge attic fan that would suck the covers off the bed it was so strong.  I don't ever remember being that hot, but when I go back to Houston now, the humidity is awful...worse than Florida I think because there is no breeze.

What are the chances that you are all named Hill? Probably a connection somewhere down the road, you guys should dosome research.

Well, yesterday became the day from hell. Around noonish I became very sick...stomach wise...not sure if I got a bug or what, but started vomiting and could not stop until I went to bed at 11.  Cancelled plans with the family and told DH to go get on the lake to get cooled off.  Was never so sick, even on chemo. Going pretty slow this morning with a wicked headache....WTH? Have not eaten since yesterday mornings bowl of cereal, gonna try some toast and see how long it last.

Had a ton of plans for today, errands and such, but will have to put on hold till I beat this thing.

Cant even think of what might be for dinner...hubby will have to fend for himself.

carberry:  Sorry to hear that you were sick yesterday.  It sounds like a nasty bug.  Be sure and take some probiotics to restore the good flora in your intestine.  Everyone should take a probiotic daily for this.  Most of our immune system is located in our gut.  It will probably take a good 48 hours to get back on track after one of those episodes.

Moonflwr912:  We going to Milwaukee.  Many times we take a drive north and go through Pt. Washington..we've eaten at a seafood restaurant on the lake up there.  We won't be able to do that this year as our trip is a quick one up and back as I have eye app't.

Well we have had fantastic weather so enjoy your time here. Let's see, Summerfest is coming up, and there are a lot of different feats. Depending on which week you are here. If you haven't been you should plan on attending one of them.

I think we will be attending Summerfest in Milwaukee...his brother mentioned that.  We're there primarily to see his 97 year old mother and his sister who is currently undergoing tx for lung cancer.  Hopefully we'll fit in some fun while there.

Carrie- I hope you are feeling better.  It sounds like it was just awful!!  I hope you a resting today and taking it easy.

Carol- here is an idea DH and I do when we have a lot of eggplant.  Slice the eggplant into rounds about an inch thick, sprinkle with some salt and pepper.  Put a nice thick slice of tomato on top of it, sprinkle with olive oil and dice up some fresh basil and sprinkle that on top too.  Top with a fresh slice of mozzarella cheese.  We put a piece of foil down on the grill and place on top of the foil and let them cook about 5 minutes.  It is delish!

So, we are going to head out and go camping tomorrow.  Today with the heat and with getting ready my boys went to my in laws house.  I have gotten all the food ready and I have everything lined up to be hauled out to the camper.  I don't want to lug it out there, it is too hot!!  We are only going for Friday and Saturday night so we kept the food simple.  I think this was the easiest time I have had getting ready.  Friday night will be burgers and hot dogs with cole slaw and garden salad for dinner.  I bought ham and chicken salad from the grocery store with little finger rolls for lunch Saturday.  For dinner Saturday night I bought some seafood ( since everyone has been eating fish and made me crave it!)  I bought some salmon and some haddock, asparagus and some potatoes to grill.  I am sure the boys will be eating some sort of sandwich or burger instead of the fish.  But the best is always the breakfast food!  Fresh bagels, fruit salad, yogurt, muffins, eggs and bacon.  Oh and pancakes:)

Now, I should add I have no idea what I am going to make for dinner tonight.

I hope everyone is keeping cool!!

Just checking in from my 90 degree office in a 100 year old building as I plow thru more files, games, articles, conference reports, books, etc etc etc. it currently looks like an audition for hoarders here and I'm half done. DH came by to haul away my nice chair and the first boxes. Thought I finished shredding after three days of it and just found three more years of clinical notes that must be done. This will end.... Especially if I happen to light a match!

Carberry, hope you feel better real soon.

Laurie, I'm impressed with your sat dinner...only way I would manage that would be at the closest restaurant, or maybe camp take out?! Have fun!

Lacey- good luck with the rest of your cleaning out!  It can't be much fun to be doing that type of thing in the heat:(  But, you must be looking forward to being done withit all and having time at home.

Saturdays dinner will mostly go in foil packs on the grill.  This morning I made the stuffing for the haddock....wanted to let it brown for a couple of minutes more and got on facebook and burned it!  I have to go make it again now, at least it is easy!

I had my yearly mam but I could not see my BS for a follow up afterwards because her Dad died. So I will be seeing her tomorrow. The mam showed no visible abscess to drain do to the Cellulitis but they did an US. That showed Mastitis but they still think that it's due to the Cellulitis trying to resolve itself. They were thinking of a tissue biopsy but I will know more tomorrow. When I went to see my onc afterwards my TM are still stable and she also said the same thing about the looks of my left tata. It is still a little pink and tender in certain areas but she gave me an excellent exam, very painful but she is good.

I have one more thing to pick up at my Dad's place then I can give them the keys back.

That okra sounds amazing i really love it, did not use to but for some reason a few years ago i fell in love with it, DH doesn not like it so i rarely make it. tastes yummy with corn bread.

Carrie- You sound really sick poor thing. Do you think it could be food poisioning? What ever it is hope its nothing serious and you feel better by now.

Laurie- have fun on your camping trip. The eggplant sounds good too. Yum!

What a strange coincidence that so many of you have the last name Hall in common!! I thought it was really weird that three of us shared the same birthday and now this! Seems as though maybe fate has had a hand in bringing us all together!

Carrie, I'm sorry you're sick! How about some ginger ale? that always worked for me

    Laurie, have fun camping!!!

You are all making me hungry with the ocra and tomatoes.  Does anyone remember Daffy Duck saying "Smothering Succatash!"? That is one dish from the south that I liked.  Actually, maybe Daffy said "Suffering Succatash!"  And maybe it was Donald Duck....

(((Carrie))) - hope you are feeling better!

Deb - thinking of you and hoping everything is ok with your tata.

Apple - I'm more into ice cream these days, too!  Must be the chemo.  We went to Portsmouth, NH tonight just for grins and we happened upon Annabelle's, supposedly one of the top ten ice cream stands in the US.  And it was good!  I had raspberry chocolate chip and as one of the reviewers said, it was yummerific! 16% butterfat - no skimping at this place!

Laurie, thanks for the eggplant suggestion.  I'll definitely try it.  Also, hope you have fun on your camping trip.

We enjoyed our dinner at Outback with my sister and her DH.  They shared a ribeye dinner and so did my DH and I.  The three of them shared one of those disgusting blooming onions.  Gag.  I ordered the chicken and artichoke thin bread appetizer and it was very good.  I think it would make a good lunch meal.

After at least 1000 trips back and forth between the house and the 5th wheel, we're packed up and ready to go in the morning.  If we've forgotten anything we'll just have to buy it or do without it.  The dishwasher is taking care of the last load of dishes and I'm doing one final load of laundry even though we won't be taking any of the clothing.

Carrie, I hope you're feeling better.  Nothing worse than intestinal illness.

Kaara, my husband is from IL, near Chicago, not from Louisiana.  I really hated taking a common name like Hall when my maiden name was much more interesting and unusual.  Stanga.  So I use it as my middle name or at least the initial S.  My user name, Carole Halston, is a pseudonym.

We should have internet this summer, thanks to our Verizon air card that survived the laundry.  So I hope to keep in touch.

    Hugs to all.

Carol- Have a great trip!  I am sure you will have loads of fun.  I am the same way, I have to have all my laundry done and my house cleaned before I go anywhere so when I get home I don't feel overwhelmed with things to do.  Please keep in touch with the air card and tell all of us of your journey!  I was telling DH today that I look forward to the day when he and I can try camping just the two of us.  It would be soooo different from what we do now.

Michelle- As we finished getting ready for camping at 10 and I thought my God am I tired...I thought of you and your never ending energy.  I have to find some of that!!  Glad your ice cream was amazing and that you had a great sleepover with your grand daughter.  I have to ask, are you a Grandma or a Memere?

Carole, love that sturdy air card! I had the opposite name experience upon marrying. My maiden name was Hart and married a definitely more ethnic name that to this day people do not hear properly with my first name, so I am always repeating myself. When I got married, women were just starting to keep their maiden names, but I knew it would be too hard for my sweet parents in-law who were not into this modern woman stuff. So I used Hart as my middle name and gave it to both sons for theirs (much to the chagrin of DS2 who as a 10 year old complained bitterly that he didn't have a "normal" middle name) Apparently the school system used his full name on everything, (not sure why) so he was teased by his buddies who probably heard his middle name as "heart". He has since gotten over it! :) Then we all used Hart as our take-out pizza order name, and DH and I still use it for dinner reservations.

    Have a great trip!

Apple......pistachio almond....right up there at the top of my all time favorite list!

Heading to the NH lake house tomorrow...need a break from this 90+ degree shredding detail. Haven't been there since April .....the back lawn (a euphemism!) must look like Repunzel !

    Have a good Friday everyone!

Sharon is eating a "wee bit" of ice cream...and the home made sourdough...

I'd make ice cream (with real cream), but I'm afraid she'd like it so much she'd hate me for making it! :-)

Thats so cool that there are 3 of you with the same last names. I believe in fate too. This was also awesome for me and my friend karen, she and her husband are here visiting in there motorhomes, i have known her for years we went to dinner the other night and i knew her moms name was betty and so was my moms but somehow we got on the subject of my middle name Lousie and she said her moms middle name was also Lousie then we found out both of our moms were born in Kansas city, Missouri i said is your moms maiden name by any chance Smith? She said no Bailey and i said well my Grandma maiden name was bailey they all lived in Kansas city, Missouri too. Now we are wondering if some where down the line we are related LOL! Small world.

Carberry.. hope you are feeling better.  Not much worse than an upset tummy.

Laurie I love that eggplant recipe - I am so going to try that.    I agree with you on camping breakfasts... they are just the best.  Love your ideas for dinners.  Same as us - always an easy one night of camping then I get everything ready before I leave to take with and just cook... be save and have fun.

Lacey - good luck with the rest of the clear out.   That's a lot of clearing out.  Enjoy your well deserved break.

Deborrye... hope you get good news Friday from the docs.   Sending positive vibes your way.

Bedo thanks for the link to the okra succotash... that sounds absolutely delicious.

From an ice cream lover... yummerific is right for the raspberry chocolate chip and I've only read the name.
    OMG !!  Heaven.

Carole...have a fun trip...where is your desination(s)... if I've missed that from an earlier post - sorry !
Look forward to hearing about some of it and of course your dinners.

Everyone enjoy your Friday's...I know mine will be a good one... be doing the happy dance tomorrow out of the cancer agency.  No more chemo for me LaughingSmile

My "Hall" comes from California, but his grandfather grew up in Kansas and Colorado.  My maiden name is Haven and my first married name was Morneau...Michelle Morneau had a nice ring to it.  But that's the only thing that was all that great about my ex...lol...well, except for the three beautiful kids we had together.

Debbie - that's an interesting Kansas City connection!

Laurie - have a great camping weekend!  Looks like thunderstorms for this evening.  With your luck, you should be on the watch!!!  But Saturday and Sunday will be most pleasant.  And as for my energy levels, keep in mind that I am not chasing two little boys around 24/7 and when I don't feel like doing something, well...I just don't!  I've always been pretty high-energy, though.  I did work full time with four kids, so I guess it's my nature.  I remember one Director I worked for - he described one of my co-workers and I as "turbo D" - we were both extremely productive.

Woohoo Tazzy!  I hope you have a celebration planned in the next couple of weeks when all the SEs have disappeared and you're feeling good.  You owe it to yourself!

Carole - enjoy your trip.  Do you take scenic highways or stick to interstates?

Carrie - how are you doing this morning?  I hope you're on the road to recovery.

DH and I both have hair appointments today.  I need a color touchup and DH needs a cut.  I love my stylist - I had never met her until she did our haircutting party right before my chemo last summer.  My kids have gone to her for many years and she is so nice.  And very pregnant at the moment.  And about half the price of what I paid for services in Overland Park, KS!!!

So Laurie, this is a funny scary camping story.  I'm sure you'll be fine but...

we were camping at Greenfield State Park (a lovely park, by the way - the lake is beautiful) and a tstorm was just raging overhead.  We're sitting in metal chairs in the middle of a screenhouse held by metal poles and you could tell that the storm was right overhead.  A river of water was running through the the screenhouse, when I had an "ah ha" moment.  I turned to my DH and said that it was probably a really bad idea to be sitting ducks in this storm, that if lightning struck, we'd probably be fried.  So we got in the car and decided to take a little ride as there was no shelter at the campground except for the bathrooms, and the power had gone out.   Just two campsites up from ours, lightning had struck a tree, traveled through the roots of the tree and blown out the tires of the trailer on the site.  I am NOT kidding!!!  They actually took a couple of the occupants to the ER as a precaution.  So my advice - if it gets really bad (and stay tuned to the radio so you know if severe storms are in the area), head for shelter - a real building.
