I'm here! Things have just been busy and I stop in to read and don't have time to post and then I get behind....think I will get a moment to catch up and post to everyone and get behind some more
Everyone has so much going on! So I will try to start fresh and be good about posting again.
Last night we had grilled chicken with avocado salsa and some rice. Nice and simple and it was nice to have DINNER. This morning I put a pork loin in the crock pot and added diced tomatoes, onion, garlic and a bunch of seasonings. I will make pulled pork sandwiches for dinner tonight. It is beautiful out and it will be nice to eat dinner outside and not have to cook.
Carrie- Enjoy your wine tasting, it sounds like a lot of fun and You guys will have so much fun!
Apple- LOVE the pic of your DS! He is a cutie! Hope you are feeling well.
Tazzy- We will all be here to see you through your surgery, and yay to be almost through with chemo!
Debbie- Wasn't the last episode of the Big C startling? I kind of liked it though, I could relate in a way. I don't remember who asked but this was the last episode of season 3. I also had no idea your daughter went through BC as well? How horrible.
Eric- I hope your wife is doing ok with her most recent treatment and it is gentle on her.
I know I am missing some of you....sorry!!

Michelle- Enjoy the heat wave we are about to have with your grandkids! I bet you are so happy you moved back to NH, can't wait to see oics of you all playing int he water
-
Thank you.
The Taxol has been very "kind" to Sharon as far as side effects go...just a little bit of leg weakness lasting for only a few hours after the chemo. This is much less harsh than the A/C.
We just got back from the doctor's office. Her CA marker numbers are still rising, but according to the doctor, the numbers sometimes will rise during chemo...so for now we still don't have any idea as to how well things are going.
I hate this cancer crap.........

Eric - the town is Pulaski, about 40 miles north of Syracuse. The paper was the Pulaski Democrat, published by a company in Gouverneur, NY.
Here's a link to some info on the newspaper:
http://news2.nnyln.net/pulaski-democrat/search.html
If you enter my name in the search box on the left side (Michelle Morneau - my name at the time), you'll find 254 results...LOL...I am preserved for posterity!!! Even some of my bowling scores were published...LOL!!!
This is funny -one of the columns I wrote was called "From My Kitchen" and it has the recipe for the Dump Cake and our favorite shrimp dip (which was just SauSee Shrimp Cocktail with cream cheese).
Laurie - yes, for sure! So glad we are here, the kiddies are coming tomorrow and will have a blast enjoying the lake. And really glad our landlord is in no hurry to sell this place.
Tazzy - the end is in sight, woohoo!!!
Tonight's dinner is Taco Tuesday at Plaza Azteca...awesome tableside-fresh guacamole! And a mariachi band to boot!
-
Thanks all for the good wishes for Friday
I am doing chicken quesadilla's with a salad for dinner !
-
OK, let's try Bedo's pictures:
Bedo's Lizzy - what a gorgeous young lady!!!
And here's Sally with her new love - at Pickity Place!
And this picture was embedded in an email last night. It's big but I'm sure we'll all be OK with that!
This is smelly Nellie riding in Lizzy's bike basket!
-
I just tried to post Bedo's pictures and I got the nasty red x, too. I'm going to try one more time!
-
Here's beautiful Lizzy - Bedo's daughter!
I'll try posting the others when I get back from dinner. DH is whining!
-
Laurie- Glad you checked in i know you have a busy schedule. It sure seems that the Big C didnt last very long this season, but was great. My DD lived in Ct at the time i lived in california so i flew out to be with her and lived with her for 6 months while she went through tx it was the hardest thing i ever had to do, was watch her go through all that, i always tried to keep it together in front of her. I did not know a thing about bc then so felt so helpless. wish i would of known about bco then sure would of helped me to help her more. They didnt have a computer so was pretty much in the dark about it. Now she is just her fiesty ole self again. lol!
Eric- Im sorry that her markers are raising, hope its as they said because of the chemo. Glad her tx is more gentle this time around.
Just had a jack and avacado sandwich with fresh pineapple and cantelope for lunch. Everything is starting to taste so good again now that summer is here.
Our friends from southern oregon are coming up today in there motorhome so we will go hang out there on there private beach spot and maybe have a few margarritta's. Will be thinking about you while drinking them Lauire lol!
-
Bedo- Your daughter is so pretty!! she looks like you. how old is she?
-
Eric, i'm glad your wife's chemo is gentler this time
Thanks Michelle, I have never been good at computers
Debbie, she is a 20 something. She is so sweet, I have to drive all over the state and my car's airconditioning broke, so she said, it's ok, Mama, I know that med (arimidex) makes you hot, so take mine, I'll just open the windows in yours, and try to get it fixed. Your sandwich sounds yummm!
Tazzy, best thoughts on your treatment. How is your garden doing??
Tonight one of my salad things, with garden lettuce, artchoke hearts, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, hard boiled eggs, black beans cherry tomatoes and... whatever!
-
Bedo... Your Lizzy is very beautiful - her eyes shine from the inside. What a sweetheart.
Debbie - how strong you must've been for your daughter. I dont have kids, but couldn't imagine how hard that must've been for you.
Michelle... I started to watch your film show of Paris.... I cant believe it made me sad to not live in Europe anymore. That didn't last long - I just went out into the garden and realised I would hate not to have all this space around me
Europe is beautiful but is there a time when there isn't someone either side of you ? Anyway I have decided it will be a good way to spend an afternoon after my treatment. Enjoy the time wtih your grandkids.
Eric... hope Sharon is faring well after treatment..and I agree I hate this cancer crap !
I too know I am missing some of you... least I think I am...brain like swiss cheese today.... but all your dinners sound delicious.
And thanks Laurie...I know all of you are there for me. Makes me wonder how I got through 5 months before i started posting.
Love and hugs to you all xxxxxxxx
-
Bedo She is so beautiful! I love to see everyones pics of themselves and their families....we are all so alike even though so far apart.
Debbie I agree..that must have been a sad time for you to watch your child go through that. I would take the bullet a hundred times over to protect my children.
the wineries were a blast and my mom held up well in the heat, although the car and wineries were all air conditioned, and I made sure I pulled up close to every entrance for her....ha ha even if it meant driving on the sidewalk..shhhh. So bought all my favorites and a few extra and fillled my wine fridge...I am now prepared for you all to come to lunch!
Debbie Have a margarita for me.
Tazzy my brain is always like swiss cheese and I have been done with chemo for a year...dont think its the wine do you?
I am having ice cream for a late dinner with fresh strawberries.
-
I agree with Laurie. There are so many posts in one day that I'm always behind. So hi to everyone & good wishes to those having surgery.
Found a great roadside stand last weekend. Beefsteak tomatoes for $1.00/lb, and squash, peppers, 1015 onions. Last night I had two huge tomatoes, two large peaches & a bowl of popcorn. Tonight is spinach salad w/mushrooms & more tomatoes. Houston is soooo hot we won't have any tomatoes after the end of the month so I have to eat them every day for now.
-
Bedo, that was nice of her. If I lived closer I'd round up a friend and come fix the car air conditioning for you/her.
Off to go to the store for some tomatillos. It's sort of a tomato with a husk. It protects it against the sun..and I suppose if it gets hot enough, the husk can be like a mason jar for canned tomatos! :-)
By the way, it's 110F/45C outside right now..and it's cooled down a few degrees since 4:30pm.....

When I get the camera out...I get the "DAD! Don't you...dare! DAD!!!!".
Eric
-
Debbie is your daughter OK now? How is your husband? I have been thinking of you.
-
Sally's next husband! Or...the cute cat she cuddled at Pickity Place
And Smelly Nellie in Lizzy's bike basket.
Not sure if Nellie's picture will post...didn't get that one as a separate attachment but thought I'd give it a try and see what happens. If it comes through, it will be easy to see...lol!
-
Tazzy, yes it is great that you are here, and getting the support you can use as you go through this next step. We'll be there for you.....
Bedo, Lizzy certainly has sparkle! Adorable daughter...
Debbie, I so admire your strength as you supported your daughter. Nothing worse than our kids not being well.
Spent six hours shredding old files today in the quiet of the mostly empty school.....
thought I was done and opened another file drawer to find about 40 more left from the previous clinician. It's kind of an interesting way to say goodbye to so many little clients....and a walk down memory lane when I actually read some of my old entries before shredding. I've decided that this office closing business is very much like packing up one's kitchen. If you've ever done that you know what I mean......there is much more "stuff" than you ever realize! Next I'll sort my play materials so I can decide what I can leave the next person, so she/he is in good shape for starting up. I recall starting with one checker game 18 years ago...took a long time building up good (appealing) materials to use and will leave a lot of them. So, back I go tomorrow , hopefully before the heat sets in ....then not again until the heat breaks.
Saw my PCP today...she has been concerned about the fatigue factor. Decided to give it a month to see if I feel better after not working, or else wants a sleep study and possible echocardiagram. Not so sure about those.....
I got home early enough tonight to make a decent dinner. Yeaaaa! I stopped and got some kale, chicken tenders, prosciutto, a bag of multi-color (sp?) pasta, and made a toss (in evoo) of the pasta, chicken, onion (sorry onion haters), garlic, a sliced yellow pepper, sliced mushrooms, chopped prosciutto, and chopped up kale. At the end,I added balsamic and some red pepper flakes since I had no other spices in there (except for the onions and garlic). It was really delicious! Made a salad of local bibb lettuce, cuke, tomato, red onion, and some of the yellow pepper.
Glad I had the cooking urge tonight since it will be way too hot to createin the kitchen tomorrow. Seems like most of the country is going through the heat spell. Hope everyone is managing it okay. Oh my, 110F .....yikes!
So, is that the end for the Big C? I don't want to hear the ending...just curious if it is over. Still waiting for season two from the libs. Love Laura Linney in that role!
Enjoy the grandkids tomorrow,Michelle. Thought of you today when I heard Judy Collins singing, My Father, with its Paris theme. I look forward to reading your blog when I am totally free and easy.
Tkae care everyone.... -
Cats are cool.. :-)

Trying to post Bedo's adorable dog picture but no luck...
-
Today, I had ribs. My friend had me over for dinner. So I had ribs rice, and carrots. Really good. She is the only person who has either offered to bring me food and actually done it, and the only one who had had me over for dinner. BTW, I have seven siblings. LOL
-
Bedo- So sweet of your DD to think of you. The reason i know that you and your DD look alike is because of your luncheons with Michelle, Laurie, Deb and some other gals that pics were posted.
Carrie- I had a margaritta or two for you. hehe! And yes, would love an invite to lunch. :-))
Tazzy-How long have you lived in BC?
Minustw0- What are 1015 tomatoes? Right now im loving the tomatoes they are so fresh and ripe.
Eric- Whoa that is hot. I used to live in Scottsdale and remember the heat. I was younger and could handle it then but don't think i could now. but it is a beautiful place and miss it.
-
I totally missed a page...
Bedo- After going to a neurologist on the 13th dr. told us that his brain will swell and only get worse on the 6th-9th month after gamma knife. He was not a happy camper about that. But they put him on mega doses of prednisone 60mg he has been having trouble sleeping but other wise doing fine, thanks for asking. My DD is doing fine now with no problems (knock wood) love the other pic michelle put up so cute.
Lacey- I was sad reading your post about shredding things and knowing you were leaving, must be hard for you. I hope you find that you made a good decision and enjoy yourself. Your dinner sound good.the big C is just the season finale it will be back but not sure when, Laurie will probably know. Hope your echo turns our normal.
Michelle- Good job on posting the pics. I will keep you in mind since i can never do it either lol!
Moonflwr. Awe, if i lived near you i would invite you over for dinner. Too bad with 7 sibs they dont take more time out, i think if people havnt gone through it they dont "get it"
Had a good time with friends sat around the camp and had a few drink then walked across the street from there, actually took a tunnel from a golf course (walked) didnt realize the place closed at 9 we sat and talked and then wanted to orde.r they said the kitchen was closed, but accomidated us any way. I had a prime rib sandwich, had to take half home. be a nice lunch for tomorrow.
-
Eric - it's supposed to be in the upper 90s here today...in NH!!! We haven't even had a day in the 80s yet this month, so it's going to be shockingly hot.
Debbie - I'll be happy to post a picture for you. Just be sure to email me with the .jpg picture as an attachment. Otherwise, it just doesn't work.
Moonflwr - sometimes it's hard when our family members just don't try to understand what we're going through. I have a sister - she's been completely unengaged from this and remains so even with my latest diagnosis. It is what it is and I no longer waste my energy on her. My friends have been awesome! And my kids and DH - well, you all know how great they are!
Lacey - I hope the fatigue resolves itself now that you can stay home and pamper yourself. I'm assuming your doc has checked your blood counts and you're not anemic?
Doctor appt this morning - labs and quick check one week after starting Xeloda. I still feel good.
-
Michelle So glad you are sailing through the xeloda.
WOW that is hot for everyone, I always think of the people that have outdoor jobs and the farmers.
Eric have traveled to Arizona a few times and am always amazed at the beautiful area. i remember one time standing outside at the airport waiting for our rental car and it felt like we were being fried like an egg on the sidewalk.
So jealous of everyone that has the fresh tomatos
Tonight we are going out to dinner with the whole fam damily, all five of us siblings (with spouses) with mom and dad, a rare occurrance.
