apple:  My DGM was raised in a catholic orphanage because her mother died young and her father was a cattle driver and couldn't care for her and her sister.  She told us harrowing tales of living there and I was scared to death of nuns for the longest time.  Every time I was bad, she used to threaten to send me to the convent to live!  All that said, she was the best grandmother in the world and we loved her dearly.

I think the ice cream thing is something that everyone who does doses of chemo seems to crave.  I remember my friend with lung cancer...it was all she would eat because she said it was all she could taste.  Just make sure you are getting enough other nutrition and protein to keep your strength up.  I haven't had ice cream in so long I forgot what it tastes like.  Sugar is my enemy now.

I definitely ate ice cream last summer during chemo. It just tasted better than anything else, and I'm not a huge ice cream eater normally. It was nice to be able to eat it and not worry about weight gain!

We have decided to drive to Virginia Beach for Easter weekend. We did this several times, years ago, and enjoyed the beach and played golf. We are leaving Thursday afternoon...I am excited. I love road trips, I guess!

Apple - I saute my apples, butter, cinnamon and sweetener in a cast iron pan, top the apples with the batter and then bake it for about 15 minutes. I flip it on the plate afterwards.

By the way, I am using my new iPad with a wireless keyboard for posting. It works well except you get none of the formatting functions or ability to post a picture. Weird. I guess this will work for most everything, just not ALL things. Maybe I need to check out the BCO iPad app. Maybe it has more functionality. I guess I'd better go exploring. I also need to figure out how to tether this thing to my Android phone so I can use it in the car. I like to stay connected and I can do that with my phone and a netbook. I'm such a tech junkie!!!

Debbie- Glad you had fun going out to the casino!  Sounds like Chuck is doing much better?  I hope so.

Apple- You always have the most interesting things to share with us, thank you!  You have been to so many places and done so many things.

I love the nun stories.  I grew up going to Catholic schools, with the exception of a couple none of the nuns were very nice.  I remember being kept after school a lot in 7th and 8th grades by one nun who wanted me to practice my cursive hand writing.  She said I wrote like a boy and it was unacceptable.

So I finally have the computer back up and running!  We had a busy weekend as usual.  Oldest DS had soccer and we went to an Easter cookie decorating project at the library afterward and did that and got new books.  We ended up hanging out with our neighbors for the afternoon and got pizza for dinner with them.  On Sunday, we visited my sister inlaw and she gave the boys hair cuts.  My boys always have long mop tops, I love their hair!  My DH decided he wanted their hair "high and tight"  thats what he kept saying... DS#1 went first and she basically shaved his head.  I saved DS#2 a little.but his is just slightly longer than DS#1.  They look cute but so different!

Last night my brother and his girlfriend came over for dinner and we did kabobs and red potatoes on the grill with zucchini and yellow squash.  We don't do it often enough!

DS#2 just got up from nap and we are headed outside to play for a bit.  Tacos for dinner tonight.

Michelle you are so sweet thank you!  I know some of you saw the other picture I posted of DS#2 on facebook but for those of you not on, here he is with his new "do".  I caught him standing in such a funny way while he took a break from playing to notice the tv.

Laurie  Love your new avatar and those boys are adorable with the haircuts.

Went walking for the first time since surgery  Whew those 2 weeks of down time sure zappped my energy. Like starting from square one to build myself back up.

Tonight I am going to use leftover pork roast and marinate ins ome kind of sauce and peppers and onions and make quesadaillas.

Michelle  That key lime pie was a big hit...really refreshing. Thanks for re-posting for me.

Carrie - glad you all enjoyed the key lime pie.  I haven't made it in a long time...might be something I whip up later this spring.

We're having slime-free burgers for dinner tonight. Laughing  Maybe DH will grill as it's quite nice out at the moment.  He probably won't stop working for another hour.

Apple - I think of you every time I do anything with ... apples!!!  Speaking of which, did I mention that I made that apple tarte tatin from The Chew.  I think the apples were too done, like applesauce almost, even though I used crispy Granny Smiths and they usually hold up really well.  So I will make it again, but I will reduce by half the time I cook the apples on the stovetop before adding the crust and popping it in the oven.  It was an easy recipe, though.

Laurie:  Your boys are so cute with their new trendy haircuts!  It brings back memories of getting haircuts for my three boys.  Their grandmother came to visit and thought their hair was too long so she marched them to the barbershop and got them shaved.  They were hysterical...came home and put skull caps on and kept them on for several days.  They finally forgave her and enjoyed the rest of her visit.

Tonight we had chicken breasts with vegetable stuffing, sweet potato and a green salad.  Now off to watch Dancing With The Stars!

Laurie, such adorable boys in their spring cuts! Glad to hear that you are back up and running with the computer.

Michelle, your road trip sounds like fun. And that apple pancake sounds sooo good!

Let me know if you find and set up the app you mentioned. I need techies to motivate me to try new things with my IPad. :)

Had a physical a week ago last friday, glucose slightly elevated, pap normal but the cells that they examine for malignacy are inflammed. WTH does that mean?

Laurie~those boys of yours are sooooo cute.

Too cold here to grill, I would love to grill up some chicken.  I use to put the pieces in my pressure cooker with onions and then grill them, I should start doing that again.

DH grilled burgers, Deb.  It didn't take too long so he didn't complain that it was chilly.  And he commented that the burgers "we" cook at home are better than ones in a restaurant.  Good for him...lol!!!   And sorry to hear about the cells being "inflamed"...I have no idea what that means except to ensure some concern on your part.  Call and ask for clarification, so you can relax.

Lacey - I guess the BCO iPad app is just to guide you through diagnosis and treatment.  I didn't download it after I read about it.  Oh well.  If I want to do a picture, I'll use my laptop or my netbook.

I have a follow up pap in 3 months so I made an appt toward the end of july.  She said not to be concerned, it tested negative for malignacy.  Just that the cells that come out of the cervix are inflammed.  I've been googling.  Probably shouldn't.  Might scare the hell out of myself. LOL

Deb it usually means nothing. Either lack of estrogen or maybe you  +ahem+ were busy the night before you went in, or used a cream that  didn't agree, maybe yeast, or infection, but he likely tested for that and it's probably a hormonal thing. or  random result.  Not the same as pre=cancers.

Trying to figure out a way to pay for my daughter'r medical bills.  She is not doing great.  But I hope  she will get better.  She has a very high deductable.  $2500.

Bedo- send ing lots of love and strength to your daughter.

Today it is my turn to go to the dentist.  Bleck.  Then I get to go to the gynecologist for my annual.  I think I thought it was better to put all the yuck in one day.  Now that the day has arrived I am not so sure...

Deb- I would get clarification too just to put your mind at ease.

Also, I agree- love a good burger from the grill!

Thanks Laurie- We just found out that since he was Athiest ( not the brother, but the son who passed) so they will not have a funeral they are just going to donate the body to science. Is this common? I thought even athiest have funerals? He took his own life so maybe they are not thinking straight right now and still in shock but just wondering if this is normal, even DH is puzzled by this.

Debbie- maybe it is the way he passed that is making them not have the funeral.  Sometimes people have a very hard time letting people "in" when there is a suicide involved, almost that it's too private?  I have a cousin whos husband committed suicide and it was very dramatic, in the papers etc.  They didn't put the funeral times in the paper and had no calling hours.  4 months later her grandmother passed at the age of 89, they didn't put her obituary in the paper until after the funeral was over because they didn't want to talk about the husband who had passed and thought they would just get a lot of rubber neckers at the grandmothers funeral.  It's tough.  Even when my mother passed from BC, we had no calling hours.  We had the funeral but did not invite people for food etc.  We just didn't want to.  We all kind of felt like we were protecting her somehow?  I don't know....

I hope everyone is able to find their peace somehow with out it.  Sending strength and love your way.

Apple, my favorite ice cream is pistachio.  I don't see it very often.

Dinner will be a salad and bowl of left-over turkey noodle soup that dh cooked yesterday, making use of the carcass from Sunday's turkey dinner.  We went out to lunch today and had hamburgers at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood restaurant.  I agree that hamburgers on the grill are great, but these hamburgers were good, too.  DH had onion rings which met his high standards.  My garlicky potatoes that come with the burger were tasty.

Big financial pain today.  Repair of the A/C in DH's 1-ton Ford truck is $2000.  Ouch.  Better financial pain than suffering and grief.

Lost a few ounces today when I got a summer haircut!

debbie:  So sorry about your nephew.  A  lot of peple donate their bodies to science when they die and it is a nobel thing to do.  Normally they go to the medical universities for study.  My mother wanted that, but my sister and I just couldn't go through with it.  My uncle donated his body.  When they were finished, they cremated him at no cost to the family and returned his ashes to us.  We still had a memorial service for him.  Perhaps your nephew requested this as a dying wish.

Prayers and condolences to your family.

Debbie - I am so sorry for your family's loss. My brother committed suicide,so I have an idea what your famiy is going through. We did have a funeral for him, well really for the rest of us, not really for him. But if he wanted his body to be donated to science, then that is what should be done. The family could still have a memorial service. It helps to have closure.

Debbie, condolences to you and your family on the death of your young relative. How very sad.

Deb, I think you are right about driving yourself nuts if you start googling your test result. Hope you can get more accurate info from the doc so you can not worry til your next appt.

Taking Dr. Michelle's and Dr. Apple's advice about trying to boost my energy, I had a Greek beef kabob for dinner and chased it with a teaspoon of Molasses. :)

Hope I can stay up for at least a part of the ND girls playing in the NCAA championship game. All these basketball girls totally amaze me with their athletic strength and stamina!
