So Obama said he didn't like the way the Bush Administration handled New Orleans. All that clip will do is inflame the base. It will not change anyone's mind. i think it was suposed to be their October surprise. Snore.

Athena ... thinking of you.  That's a big decision to make and I know you don't make it lightly.  Just wanted to send a big hug.

    Good article by Andrew sullivan.

Heard someone on NPR suggesting that the fact-checkers be live at the debates to immediately score the untruths. I think it's a great idea.  Romney will have nothing to say.

Who's fixing drinks for the debate?

Debates will last w-a-a-y past my bedtime, and if I start too watch, probably won't be able to sleep.  SO, I will have to wait until the next day to find out if Willard uses John Boehner's makeup person again, think he borrows the colour called "orangeya glad to C me" - and that's when he's NOT on TV, oh, my, oh, my...hope he remembers to smudgy the WHITE LINE in front of his ears.

    Happy debate all....

    will check in tomorrowLaughing

I've decided that Google is a gift to mankind - been having trouble with my Microsoft Money file for ages now - googled the problem, found a tool to repair it and all is well. Where would we be without Google - I would never have found BCO, that's for sure.

Having a sick day today - couldn't sleep - worrying about the pool salt cell that I just paid $400 for and it didn't work. Will be on their case today and get it fixed asap.

    Soteria -

I see by other threads that you consider Obama supporters ignorant, evil, and bent on supporting a man who's going to convert the US into a gay, gun-melting, baby-killing Muslim communist country. Why bother to post here, then? It can't be for education's sake since you consider us to be stupid kool-aid drinkers and probably uneducable.

So why don't you take your faux news links and shove them up your conservative thread? I am NOT in the mood for this garbage.

Ok, I finally found the peas.

I never go to their garden, can't imagine why they want to pick veggies from ours. Guess ours are tastier, probably healthier too.

OK, did a bad thing.  Peeped over the fence into the other garden, and how am scrambling back to our beautiful patch as fast as my fingers can type.  No wonder they're coming over here.  Weeds and scorched earth over there.

Over the fence hmmph...more like down the rabit hole.

Glad our garden can feed us body and mind building food and not the pills Alice took.

Ok, everyone ready for the entertainment of the evening?

Romney is already a lame duck - he is going to lose the election - I say these debates have no measurable value. It is:

ideas and facts, versus .....(vacuum of both)

He'll only lose if there are enough voters. He deserves to lose but we get the government we show up for. So many regular folks have tuned out its getting scarier by the election.

I miss the crowded polls of my parents day.

Not down the rabbit hole, Rosemary! WR will have to chase them right back out again with a can of Peas-B-Gone! Just back into the desert from whence they came.

I, too, like the nourishing mind and body food we cultivate here, as well as my fellow gardeners.

I use other threads as reference points for the "Ignore" button. Works like a charm!

Chickadee, I worry about voter apathy but I worry much, MUCH more about voter suppression. The voter suppression law in Mississippi was enjoined until after the election, Pennsylvania's and Wisconsin's were also stayed -- but the voter suppression organizations are out in full force. The FBI is, in fact, putting out press releases about who to call if people experience voter suppression at the polls (I saw one from Tennessee the other day). Things are pretty bad if the FBI is doing pre-emptive press releases on voter suppression. I also saw a good meme on FB from some Democratic state legislator: "If you have to cheat to win, your ideas suck." What is so very disturbing is that there are large swaths of Americans who actually APPLAUD voter suppression. How can they look at themselves in the mirror? How can they call themselves loyal Americans?

Just got some good news - our solar hot water has been making funny noises in a valve on the side of the house. Just called my pet plumber and he said the valve needs replacing - not too expensive, so that's good. And they can send someone out today to fix it !!!

I was so worried there was something wrong with the solar equipment.

Pool shop guy on the job - hoping for a reslution today. Meanwhile our front grass verge (out in the street) is being dug up by some well meaning people from the local council - something to do with improving our water supply. Not game to go and see what's happening to our sprinkler system that's buried out there.

Miss Poppy hiding under our bed as usual when there are loud noises about.

Those that applaud voter suppression arrogantly believe only they know what's good for the rest of us. Hmmmmm sounds like some fanatical religions we know........

Like back when only property owning white guys could make decisions because, you know, their wives were silly emotional creatures who could not be trusted to make a reasoned decision. Or anyone of color.....well not on the radar at all.

HL.....I read that book ( still  in my library ) and loved it.   I also read about the conservatives having to hunt up the video of 2007...Katrina speech.  I heard something about its changing the WHOLE picture....Really.  What a gigantic waste of time....two words....desperation and fear.  Right now....two more words NOTHING SOLVED with that snippet of very old news.  I've edited this to add.....don't dare breathe Obama, or someone will be making something out of it.....even if you did it years ago...breathe that is.

Got dark just now and I looked out to pouring rain.  Hope the 'storm' doesn't upset my "viewing" pleasure this evening.  I'm still looking forward......still in part because as someone said.....all the prattle leading up, and all the prattle that will come after.  Points will be given, glee will be felt, but I do think Romney and Ryan won 't be able to recover from their arrogant ignorance.

Voter suppression is also my biggest concern - it is the single biggest challenge we face in this election.

I think some people call themselves Americans but only buy the part that is big and powerful - not the part that is fair and truly democratic.

This is a good rant from Steven Pearlstein, economics columnist for the WaPo. He has had some great rants in the past (he regularly goes thermonuclear over the U.S. Chamber of Commerce). This one says it all about what the entitled class thinks they're owed. The sad thing is that they have so many poor people bamboozled into believing that the monied classes really ARE owed these things:

What is voter suppression? The MSM touting polls that Romney has lost for the past 3weeks or states wanting ID? Just asking, Athena.

    Great article...especially this:

I am entitled to be treated with deference and respect by investors I
mislead, customers I bamboozle, directors I manipulate and employees I view as
    expendable.

    As in Wall Street.

Our Founding Fathers would roll in their graves - to think that they fought a revolution to prevent the injustice of entitlement from being the road to progress. That sentence I just quoted from HL's article could have been uttered by King George III.

Barbara - voter suppression is deliberately confusing people about what is required to vote, setting barriers to vote and crying foul about supposed voter fraud that hasn't been shown to exist. It is what Tea Party affiliated and Karl Rove affiliated groups have sought to do.

For the record: I do think there should be laws prohibiting public polling when voting has begun. I agree that it can unfairly mislead - but this has been true at times that favor both reps and dems. Some countries have laws about public polling. I think we should too - unfortunately, we worry so much about the press's freedom that we sometimes forget how the media's voice can drown out that of the voter.

ETA: I'm glad you are here. :)

IllinoisLady, for everyone's protection we've changed the link to what it says it is, rather than where it was actually pointing. Might be fine, but best to be careful.
