Wow, Chickadee, that's incredible! Please take care of yourself if it becomes too much. Don't think I could do it, but I'm a long time wimp and couch potato.
-
Athena, they are ridiculous, pretending to be normal Americans so they can con us into voting for them, when they are more like the brown coats in Hitler's Germany. I really do think Romney is a moderate, and if he hadn't chosen neanderthal Ryan I wouldn't be so disturbed about him possibly winning. As it is, though, he obviously has to toe the tea baggie line, and that's scary.

HL - your DH is one of a kind - Bermuda - ooooh I wish - enjoy yourself and yes, RELAX.
Love, S.

This is why I love this show!

Oh, Chickadee, I have the utmost respect and admiration for all the front-line aid workers -- FEMA, the Red Cross, USAID's Office of Disaster Assistance ... They are angels in practical clothes! They are true believers and truly wonderful, giving people. It's not just a job to them -- it is a calling!
DH is wonderful, I admit it! He really has been amazing throughout both my diagnoses. I am a very fortunate woman! -
HL, have a wonderful cruise!
-
HL....that fellow of yours is definitely a keeper.
(((Chicakadee)))
Athena and Blue....I enjoyed the articles...thanks for posting the links. Rachel Maddow is at the convention and was soooo disappointed with the Chris Christie speech. She does not agree with a lot of what he says, but says she still enjoys the way he puts his speech's together, but this one was totally awful. He spent the majority of it speaking mainly about himself and just a small bit about Romney.....who of course, the speech was supposedly for at the RNC.
I don't recall all the facts ( sigh ) but heard it said that he did not allow his name to go forward this time fearing that it would result in loss......he is holding out for 2016. Maybe that is so....based on the speech he just gave. Weasels....they have no other name.

Romney was a moderate ... or pretended to be to get elected Governor. Now he is a far right conservative ... or pretending to be for this election. In short he is really nothing but an opportunist with money. They can't think of anything inspiring to say about him either IMO.
Chickadee ... that is wonderful of you to go to help out in the Gulf Coast. Take care of yourself too though please. Once again the government programs that the southern teabaggers rail against will come to their aid. And it's amusing to see the same ones who were defending Bush and saying the states were the responsible parties and should have done more for themselves after Katrina now whining that they have not yet been promised that the feds will pick up all their costs of preparation for this one. Make up your minds.
Libby ... enjoy your cruise!
-
Guvnah Good Hair Rick Perry, keeps telling the Feds to stay out of his bizness........but let there be floods, fires or tornadoes and he cries like a hyena that the Feds shortchanged him........or cheated Texans out of Fed help. What many don't know is that FEMA resources come into the state only at a Governors invitation, and stay as long as the state feels a need. The state is the first responder and financially responsible. They request FEMA by demonstrating through preliminary damage assessments that the burden is beyond the scope of the state.
Sometimes Guvnah Goodhair can't justify his demands.
Something like Isaac is ramped up in advance by all involved because it is likely to be so devastating. Nearly a thousand FEMA managers already on the gulf coast and 3500 of us reservists are on hold while they determine actual head count needs. We shall see if I am needed.
It will be nice to focus on something other than my health. -
Stay safe Chickadee

Holy cow.

Oh geez, that was the peanut-throwing incident I referenced earlier! I thought folks had already seen that! Unbelievable. I want them identified -- were they delegates or elected officials?
-
I am angry that Cowardly News Network is pretending to be so "professional" ("fair and balanced?") and unemotional about the incident. You are the victim of racism, your employer uses the stiff upper lip. You accuse others of being racist and you get fired on the spot (referencing Yahoo News DC Bureau Chief getting fired). What kind of a country is it when there is more opprobium for accusing someone of racism than for being a racist?
And I'm sure they could identify the two peanut throwers. CNN has a journalistic responsibility to identify them. These weren't "alleged" events. Shame on CowardlyNN.
ETA: There were several witnesses, it didn't happen in the dark, and the victim was a reporter.
-
Article on the fired Yahoo reporter - who apologized, but was still fired:
-
Greg Sargent, political columnist at the WaPo, has also taken CNN to task for not reporting it on-air. It is NEWS, for cryin' out loud, and they are in the reporting business (er ... allegedly). And I think it is newsworthy to report on the utterly criminal stupidity (not to mention the racism) of two morons who THREW PEANUTS AND MADE RACIST COMMENTS TO A BLACK WOMAN HOLDING A VIDEO CAMERA WITH CNN ON THE SIDE!! Holding a video camera -- like they weren't going to be caught on tape? Or were they just so arrogant in their racism that they thought they were untouchable? A large number of people saw the incident and the RNC ejected them -- the RNC knows who they are.
-
May I propose a toast to myself and HL tonight - we haven't (yet) been deleted - hurrah!

-
The YAAAAhoo reporter apologized to all the big shots..........apparently it didn't occur to him to apologize to all the folks along the gulf coast losing everything thy own.
Arrrrrrggggggghhhhhh. Infuriating idiots. -
I thought my link would surely cause a ruckus.
-
Hi guys - at home away from home awaiting surgery tomorrow.
As far as the peanut incident, after discussing this with my friend up here, we think it is probable this was done on purpose to attract certain types of voters.
Chickadee - we'll have to talk when you get back. I assume you will be working within the ICS system? Be safe.
-
Wow, I am surprised -- haven't been deleted for my mini-rant, either. I guess the "If you don't like it, don't read there" policy is being well-enforced. Thanks, Mods!
(((((Kam))))) good luck with your surgery and quick healing!
Working from home today, so I just logged on to clear my emails and start my day. Off for some Elixir of Life (aka coffee).
L
-
Surprise! Wolf Blitzer finally reported on it last night. Here is a story with the link to his segment:
Still no word on who they were or if their convention credentials have been pulled.
-
Kam, good luck on the surgery!
I was trying to explain the ruckus to my husband yesterday. He hadn't seen it on t.v. either. Glad to hear Wolfman finally did some reporting.
-
The fact that a human being was treated that way and ridiculed is what makes it wrong, not gender or skin color. The offenders were removed from the convention. There are mean stupid people in all kinds of places, that doesn't make everyone in those places mean and stupid.
Would it be any less offensive to you if a middle aged white man were holding that camera and being taunted that way? Nobody should be treated like that.
It's nice to know that according to you not one convention attendee will be anything but wonderful to all the people working behind the scenes in Charlotte, or that if anyone is drunk or rude and acts inappropriately it should make national news.
-
So much for detente!
-
If anyone is drunk or rude and acts inappropriately in Charlotte it will make the news ... repeatedly for days on end. The rightwing talking heads and Limbaugh will make sure of it. And it will be portrayed as all Obama's personal fault. Just saying.
Good morning all! I'm working that coffee now (orally only) and trying to get motivated to do whatever it is I decide I need to do today.
-
Oh yes, WR. Remember -- Hurricane Isaac and the drought are BOTH the fault of the President!
Not to mention the bad economy, the closing of a GM plant BEFORE he took office, and TARP (passed during the last administration), among others. Like I saw someone say, "I'm voting for the President -- he can CONTROL THE WEATHER!"
-
Don't forget: IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE, don't even make comments about...
Ok..back to our regular programs..
HAPPY SURGERY - seriously, fingers crossed, please let us know how it goes..
HL...Bermuda - delicious, and happy SUN and rest, hang on to that DH...we'll keep your place at the bar..
Chickadee - stay safe - and thanks for doing such GOOD WORK...the BEST of "government" in action!
This is ESPECIALLY for AnneW, but anyone may read:http://www.salon.com/2012/08/29/romneys_brazen_welfare_lie/
My favorite, "don't bother us with fact checkers." Really, again, you couldn't make this stuff up.
Oscar dela Renta must be happy again, $1,900. - not worth it, IMHO, but then, I've only seen reprint pics...too busy enjoying the last of the summer sun. Been gorgeous here, sunny, dry, in the 80's, happy today to all.

THANK YOU, BLUE.
Just went back to watch your video. Wish we got the Newsroom on TV - but we don't have cable in the rural hamlet....that clip was FANTASTIC..good ole Sorkin...maybe he & Jon Stewart should run for office??? Imagine the media taking that on...
Yikes...just had to turn off local NPR station, they were playing something Rice must have said at some convention, and I can't even BEAR to hear her voice, since b4 her "boss" invaded Iraq, she said it was necessary to "take action before we see a mushroom cloud" - remember her words, b4 I ran to the bathroom to be sick, and still can see & hear her saying it. Probably Ye Olde Final Straw, as the VP had just said something like " we know Iraq has weapons of mass destruction" even tho' we later learned CIA had been telling him they DID NOT. Ah, the good ole days. Isn't everyone eager toget back to them?? Ooops..feeling sick again...
THANK YOU BLUE, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Wouldn't have seen it without your link.
