Medigal, about time you came back!
-
Beloveds, it's called the "Pope"s Nose!" When they threw me out of the "C" church I made sure to go home and bite it real hard!!
My mom used to have a saying that since we were so poor, she and the rest of us had to eat the boney pieces and the meaty stuff went to papa and the sons. I used to try to wear pants so I could be a "son" too and get one of the other parts but mom wouldn't go for that. Papa gave all his food to my dog and doggie and I fought many a day over that pork chop! And I now consider those the "good ole days!" I think aging does weird things to our brains but I still only eat the boney parts so any of you "thin" gals better not want to come around me!
I'm so glad everyone seems to have done real well while I was praying to the Tax God to help me figure out what the H'''''l I was doing with those figures! I guess those blessings Kathy was giving all the rest of you must have been landing on me too. Thank you Kathy, I'll take ALL the blessings I can get!
Missed all of you! Got to run!
-
Medigal: We've missed you especially the last couple of days...
The rest of you: Love the rapini recipes - dh and I fell in love with it in a restaurant in Atlanta of all places but couldn't find any in the supermarket. Now that I'm back in Canada and you've given out all the delightful recipes I know what I'll be cooking tomorrow night.
Notice how we're all back on the food topic again.

Food is good, especially when sharing with friends.

Welcome River Rat .. jump right in ... you'll have a blast on this thread!
Medigal .. I'm glad to see you .. you were missed dear lady!
I told Tim tonight that I need a waffle iron .. he just chuckled and wanted to know why. So I did some checking and there are lots of different kinds out there. He wanted to know why I didn't get the kind you put in the toaster. Ha! I told him I'm going to make pecan waffles! He chuckled again.
Glad to see we're back on topic here .. hope everyone has had a wonderful day!

Even muskrat dinners (with a shout out and welcome to River Rat)!
-
OK! I've been out of town and touch for a week and I come back on this thread and all heck has broken loose.
Blue! I applaud your handling of the unfortunate postings of the PM, posting problem. Sounds like you're doing better than could be expected. Maybe when you get riled it transcends illness. Good job.
-
So glad to see everyone back & posting about food. Going to try rapini this week & I don't own a waffle iron but I bought some hideously expensive blueberries from Chile today & I'm going to make blueberry pancakes tomorrow for breakfast.
-
Lewing: Do you want me to think of "you" next time I run into a "rat"? You keep talking about muskrat dinners and I just may have to figure out how to stew me a good one! Can't be much different than cooking my delicious rabbits. We just have to give them a different name. How's about "muskrabbits"? Now where I "used" to live, it was known that the cajuns had a jolly good time feasting on their muskrats. However, I have never had the joy of chewing on a yummy, juicy, muskrat so I'll have to leave it to my imagination how it would taste.
When I was a child (and of the poorer income) one never asks mamacita what that weird food was on the plate. My beloved mom could make anything and I do mean "anything" a delicious feast! If I ever shared all the "things" I ate, you couldn't go in the woods, swamps, or an island without being reminded of "Medigal"!
The best foods are not always found in the supermarkets. Nowadays, we are a spoiled lot of people. The rich would have a problem surviving with food if they ever got poor but the poor know how to turn almost anything into a delicious meal! However, I do not want to ever go back to being "poor" in that way again. I enjoy my new status of being able to actually buy food in supermarkets and not have to kill and pluck my chickens like my mom did! They "were" my pets and I had to eat them! I am so grateful my beloved DD does not have to eat her cat!
Have a good evening. It was great to be with everyone again tonight. Maybe next year I may actually pay someone to do my taxes and then I won't have to miss the entertainment on here. (No way! I don't trust any stranger to do my taxes!) Nitety night!
-
Medigal!
I missed your posts. You always share such cool stuff.

Medigal, I hear you about poverty and food. And I can relate on a "survival" level. When you're stuck in the west Texas wilds for 48 hours with no food, you eat what you can find. Even if it's armadillo. And even if you know you'll be picked up by the wonderful Air Force bus stocked with PBJs when it's time...You gain quite an aprreciation for the food in your fridge (and the ability to get what you want when you want it) when your tummy is growling all night.
-
Welcome back Medigal, you've been missed.
Welcome River Rat.
Blue - you were awesome!
Enjoyful - would you mind reposting your Brussell Sprouts recipie? I bought 6 little brussell sprouts and would like to try them. I think it was garlic and oil and bake for a while. Anything else? Do you chop them up or bake them whole? Do you squish up the garlic or use a bottle?
Medigal - do you use a tax software? Why do taxes take so long. Mine takes 15 minutes once the bits of papers are collected. Are US returns complicated?
Was it a full moon this morning?
-
Hiya Molly!
I cut the sprouts in half, toss them in olive oil, curry powder, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes. I haven't tried them with garlic, but what the heck, toss some in too!
-
Thanks Enjoyful! I'll try them for dinner tomorrow night. Guess I got confused about the garlic.
-
Okay, which group of self-rightous cowards deleted Blue's post? If you're so convinced that what you did was right and in the community's best interest, you should be proud to proclaim it. I dare you to do it.
-
Blue
Too bad the deletors just got rid of your post and not the one that quoted it, huh? So I'm guessing the motive was to get rid of you, the one who started this thread and not the offending comment. People just need to be grown-ups.
A quote some of you might recognize "By their works you will know them."
Good night
-
Molly, You're not loosing your mind. Actually I think we've discussed brussel sprouts with everything except chocolate sauce.
I posted about a recipe that used bacon fat, and the crisp bacon pieces along with garlic, and scallions. Sounds like enjoyful has a good one too. Don't think you'd go wrong with either.
-
Kinder,
Hope you are having a great time at your party.....you deserve it. And, Sherri can I come to the stage III forum? Looking for a nice group of ladies to get to know!

Is there a rule or anything that says that your ID here on BCO is a reflection of your IQ? Just asking?
-
wow - what an effective, quick deleting team at work here!
-
molly, the full moon was on the 19th. This time I think it was something in the water, or maybe some bad fruit.
otter
-
Or perhaps a reflection of one's maturity level?
-
Or the bad seeds in the fruit, otter.
-
Anyone want to take bets that the computer ID's of the deleters match the same delete team from a few weeks ago? Always on a weekend, same MO, same personas. Just a sad group of individuals!
-
What the heck was in LadyEden's post that made it offensive to anyone? I know I read it but for some reason didn't get what was so bad it had to be removed.
-
Best to share what I wrote here elsewhere, so deleted.
-
Hi Athena! So glad to see you posting again!
-
Dear SherriG, I have seen you on the Stage 3 board, You are so beautiful and kind to everyone. I will join you, thanks for the invite. God bless you!!!!! Kathy

Dear Enjoyful and BlueDahlia, Happy Sunday to you both. Hey, thanks so much for thinking that my party was at the prison. No, all my friends came here, Even though my seven year mark is not technically until November 17, 20ll, but my husband is retiring, so they all gave me an early party, because we are hoping to be with our sons alot out in CA, soon. Thanks, though for comparing me to my prison friends who I worked with back in the 70s, when I was doing an intership at Stateville Prison in Joliet, Illinois So many of them changed their lives and are out in the world now, doing many good and wonderful deeds in the name of Jesus Christ. I still keep in touch with many of them. I am so blessed to have known them. God bless you on this wonderful Sunday!!!!! Kathy
-
Hey, I did not do any deleting, so don't blame me. My party lasted until 2:00 this morning and people stayed to clean up, never went back on the computer. The only reason that I am up now, is because I have to teach Sunday School this morning, so truly whoever deleted whatever was deleted, was not me. God bless you, Kathy
