I see things have been busy here while I was working the weekend.
Glad to hear everyone is okay. Ducky, hoping you find an angel was watching over your shore home.
AnnNY, so good to hear you faired well during the storm.
-
Ducky - keeping things crossed for you for tomorrow - have a safe trip and let us know.
E - any new news on HL?
-
Cindy, glad to see you here. Hope all is well with you.
I am watching a 2-hour documentary about the Zambesi River and the wildlife there....enthralling. Gorgeous elephant calf!
-
Ducky - I'll be thinking about you tomorrow morning. Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll find things are much better than you think.
Sure do hope Libby is resting and getting her strength back, and that her pain is controlled.
-
Thinking of you Ducky. Libby, hope you're getting stronger every day!
-
Mods, thank you - join us for a night cap if you will....

Thank you moderators
-
Rosemary, Hope your aunt and uncle are OK.
Hey there Hillck, glad to see you!
-
Blue
They are safe and will be fine. My uncle's house may be hit but he said he will deal with that when the storm is over. He has four kids nearby who can help him clean up
-
Any more pictures of your new litty, Rosemary?
-
Just dropping in to say Hi to those that I met in NOTL...you guys said this topic was hopping and it is! Sending healing vibes to HL after that marathon surgery. I remember her saying a surgery was on the horizon and wanted to check in.
I am back at work part-time now and kids are back at hockey---true Canadian! Sense of normalcy after a year off work.
Loved meeting you all.....hugs to those that went through Irene...here in Ontario...it seems to have skirted by us! -
WR, glad you made it clear about the B&G hour. As a Christian, who has respect and an interest in all other religions, and head bartender, I feel it would be unChristian to limit the hours the bar is open, given our patrons span the globe. Can I pour anything for anyone? Bottoms up.
-
I saw a recipe for a black and blue mojito in a magazine today. I'll take one of those. The recipe includes blackberries and blueberries, hence the name.
Mary
-
Mary, thanks for the recipe. I'll add it to the B&G's repertory. Have a good night.
-
Hi Rachel -- good to "see" you! Getting back to work part-time sounds good -- I'm happy for you!
YramAL, that black and blue mojito sounds good!
Hi PiP! Hi Athena! Hi Cherryl ! And Rosemary, Blue, Cindy, Lewing, Enjoyful, Jancie, -- and Otter from a few days ago!!! And Sue in Scotland! And Ducky! And Sugar77! And anyone I missed!
And ((((((((Libby)))))))) !

For our friends out in the Portland, OR area, the New York Times Travel Section has a piece, "36 hours in Portland." I hope there is someone reading this who can invite me out to see for myself.
Turning the bartending duties over to the overnight crew. Have a good week everyone.
-
I checked in here to see what everyone was up to today, and I find an ugly, insulting post by rainbowpony. I'm reporting the post. There is no excuse for your nastiness, RP. Oh, and yes, I would definitely say this to you face-to-face.
-
Well, I for one wonder why RP keeps coming here to insult us. Life is too short, IMHO.
Morning all. Good old insomnia again but I did manage to sleep from 9 until 4 so that's not too bad. So glad all seemed to weather the storm. Here's a prayer for Ducky that her house is OK. Fingers crossed, too. Here is another NOTL pic taken when some of us arrived on Saturday.

-
Aww Cindy, it does suck, doesn't it. At least I got some sleep.
-
Good morning, starshines!
It's a beautiful day here in the Mid-Atlantic and I'm looking forward to a day of glorious and comfortable dowdiness. In a few hours I'll take my mom and aunt home to their waterfront houses and inspect the (hopefully minimal) damage.
No news on HL, but I hope to visit with her tomorrow and send along everyone's greetings and well-wishes.
E
-
Waving hello to everybody.
HL Take care of youself.
Cindy I hope you get some sllep.
No more pictures of the cat. I tried and all I got were his tail or his flank or 1/2 his face. He is alone in the basement when we are not home and so happy to see us when we get home that he won't stay still.
-
Morning Glories! Guess Ducky is on her way to the shore. Sure hope she finds minimal damage. Sorry for those of you who didn't sleep well. So happy that those of you in the east will have a nice day today. You certainly deserve it!
-
HL Update:
Our dear HL can get into and out of a chair and bed by herself and has stopped the heavy-duty pain meds. She hopes to get some or all of the drains out Thursday or Friday. Yay!!
Hugest healing hugs to Happy Libby!

Best healing thoughts to HL!
E- this article made me think of you - I don't have an active "link" function on this screen.
-
Oh my goodnes...I would never squash my guinea pigs into a milk carton! I do like the idea of taking them with me wherever I go, though. ;-)
Good on the policemen for making sure the animals had a proper home.
-
There's a niche market - guinea pig carriers.
-
Lost Creek .. I made your link hot for you!
hugs,
Bren
-
Fashionable guinea pig carriers, of course!
-
Thanks Bren. And thanks Jancie for your kind words. Salt Lake is about 500 miles from here I think. If you're ever over this way, let me know. I'm usually home and the light is usually on.
We were talking about emergency supplies - a subject dear to my heart. Yes, I'm odd - but it's part of my volunteer work. We are used to being without power & are among the last to get power turned back on (low population) during winter storms and so are prepared for the inconvenience of power outages. Like several on this list, I live in the woods. It's summer and wildfires & the possibility of evacuating that's ever present and constitutes an emergency.
Otter had some real good suggestions for emergency kits. I'd add that we have found use for whistles, air horns (they make little ones) and two-way radios for emergency communications. The two-way radios can have a pretty good range and don't cost much, and are otherwise useful. In winter my car carries a box of winter emergency supplies and that's switched out in summer for summer emergency supplies..Including face masks for smokey conditions. Hope I never need it, but that's my kind of fashion-sense.
-
'Morning, "starshines" (or kitschynistas - true fashionistas have good taste).
Cindy and Barbara, my sympathies on insomnia. I haven't had an unmedicated night's sleep in ages.
HL - Baby steps, but you will get there. Time must seem to crawl by. Getting those drains out will surely be a huge help. Sending you a hug.
