otter, Sounds like lots of fun with the vacation. Your suggestions for hurricanes makes lots of sense to me, but then I'm the one who put masking take on all my windows.

Otter, I have already begun amassing your hurricane list. Thanks. Have a great off the grid time and eat many rainbow trout. Yum.

Rainbow Pony .. I don't want to be rude, but I don't understand what you're talking about.  Is someone on here dowdy?  Everyone was lovely at NOTL .. and very nicely dressed.

    Oh, Bren, please be rude.

Like so many others, it is impossible to explain, or who would want to, why someone who spent so much effort attacking both the women who often post on this thread, and the organization, BCO, which OBVIOUSLY, all of us appreciate - would continue to post on this thread.

Again, I guess she's driven everyone else away from the threads she starts, and can't create sock puppets to talk to - but WHY, Rosemary?  Can you explain it?  How about you, Athena???? White Rabbit, you have any ideas? What will it take to make her GO AWAY!  GO AWAY!

Any ideas what it will take to make her go away????  Really - even the moderators must be laughing at her posting on this thread  -

Well, I'd rather face the hurricane in the REAL world, than the hypocrisy I'm seeing here. Bye!

She's just trying insults because she thinks she can make us angry.  And that must be preferable to being ignored.  I remember these Junior High games but most of us outgrew them long ago.

Really rainbowpony... every time I try to give you the benefit of the doubt you come back and carp on us again.  Don't you have anything better to do?  Are the conversations on your own thread really so boring that you need to come here and stir?

Hi Bren ... so you didn't get any storm at all today?

Glad to see that Irene has weakened a little bit anyway.  Still going to be a b*tch though ... stay safe you all!!

Hi Rabbit .. Nope .. only got some wind today.  I know lots are suffering with huge amounts of rain, but I wish we could have gotten some it.  It's still so dry, even after the storm we had the other day.

    hugs,

emergency supplies:  I'd add some cash.  Also a few big green plastic garbage bags - they have many uses, including fashionable raincoats in a pinch.

How about using the "ignore" button?

Honestly, reacting the way you are, Sunflowers, is exactly what she wants you to do. I'm not saying your feelings aren't valid, because I feel much the same way, but you are giving her exactly what she wants.

I am delighted to be "unfashionable and without style in appearance"!  It means that I have not been duped by the fashion industry to spend all sorts of money to try to look like someone else's definition of what is necessary this year, or month, or week.

Clean, neat and covered pretty much is all we need. I am proud to be just who I am. What do you know - people still talk to me!

Why doesn't it apply to men?!

Your head ... your problem.  Obviously your problem if the only thing you can see in a group of good friends having a great time is what they are wearing.  IMHO

ETA ... Mary you are probably right.  But maybe she just really doesn't get it??  OK maybe not.  Phasers on stun.  Smile

Some things are more important than clothing.  I'm sure my appearance reflects that and it doesn't bother me a bit.

I just spoke with HL.  She's home but not feeling well at all.  She asked that I say hello to everyone for her, and thank you all for your well-wishes. Hopefully we'll have her back with us soon.  Please keep up the positive vibes!

I am sorry I missed it.

I'm glad to hear that HL is home but so sorry that her pain meds don't seem to be as effective as needed.  I hope Hurricane Irene won't interfere with her getting the Rx she needs.

Speaking of dear old Irene, are any of you feeling the effects of her onslaught yet?

Mary, absolutely right to just IGNORE - but you'd think she'd have enough well, self worth or pride or sense of self, NOT TO INTRUDE - where she's been attacking for so long.  So thanks, you are right. Hard to imagine someone so desperate she'd even look at pictures of women she'd been attacking and try to pretend she was a part of their friendship.  BLEAH.  YUCK. She can't create sock puppets so she keeps changing avatars, which sadly, come up even on IGNORE.

Phasers on.  ;-)))  Hope all are safe - we'll getting peltd with rain, Serious Stuff comes tomorrow.

Hope HL starts to feel better and everyone is safe!

You know, I was inspired to look again at the beautiful photo Leprechaun took at Lindasa's house.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I see a lovely, lovely group:

Blue, I was thinking exactly the same thing...

Hugs to HL -- I think you will feel a little better every day -- probably hard for you, of all people, to "take it easy" -- but it's right to take it easy right now.

Blue -- glad you had a good time -- hope you feel less tired tomorrow.

Hope everyone is safe -- I'm back in the city (where I was in the country is also in the storm's path, and they always lose power during any storm -- so probably a worse place to be -- certainly for me, because I'm used to managing storms and blackouts in the city, not so much in the country!).

Wow what beuatiful stylish women. Anyone who thinks otherwise does not know what true style is.Or class.

ETA: We each have our own style which develops as we mature and cast off the shoulds of the fashion industry. A person with class makes others feel at ease in all situations.Every woman at that lunch had both style and class.

Hi, Ann - we heard you were north of NYC!  Stay Safe.  Thanks again for the picture - that someone  seems to be delusional enough in thinking she was, is, or could ever be, a part of....

Off to watch the rain - it's getting very REAL now - and this is just the beginning.  Wish I could describe the precautions everyone in this small town has made - and it may be hard for anyone who's never lived in a small, rural community, to imagine this one - someone has set up a generator FOR ME - so I won't be without water, a few lights, and my fridge.  I'm blessed, really.  Scared now, honestly, but will be sunny, so we're told, by tomorrow afternoon.

Sigh! Rainbowpony, why do you just keep walking into it....

I see lots of beauty and joy --what else could anyone want-- in that picture. So nice to see what my BCO friends look like, and I thank them for sharing this event, even if it means giving up some privacy and exposing themselves to peanut gallery comments.

Rainbowpony, how do we know you are not a 500 lb, bedridden recluse with ingrown toenails and a penchant for velcro or something? If you criticize, then the onus is on you to prove your glamour credentials. As for the things that really matter in a person, we have that sorted out where you ar4e concerned. That means the picture is going to have to make us pass out and think we'd gone to heaven if there is any chance it can help to balance out that all-important "impression" you refer to. You also have to provide evidence that it's you and not a magazine picture. So go ahead. That ball's in your court. Guilty until proven innocent. You did it to yourself.

Let's see what you have to offer...we know you love screen shots...or else forever "keep your peace."

Special good vibes to HL.  Hope she's soon feeling well enough to be a wee bit active.

Agree with you Rosemary - and it, beauty and class, start from within -and it SHINES in that picture.

Blue - hope you're feeling stronger tomorrow - I'll be thinking of all of you - but probably not online, Verizon ( DSL) will definitely go the way of "electricity" by tomorrow!!!

SWEET DREAMS.  Stay safe, warm, and as dry as possible.

Sunflowers -- so great that a neighbor set up a generator for you!  That's reassuring to me -- thinking of you!  Hope you can keep us posted!

ETA: maybe you can't keep us posted, if your Verizon DSL goes down :(
    Take care, stay safe!

    Hi, Athena,

how delusional, for her to think she could EVER be a part of that friendship, really delusional.  Amazed a person who so attacks this thread, this site, would even imagine herself as being welcome, or be included in any way.  Delusional.  Almost scarey - like tryiing to pretend she didn't know about the review site.   "Oh, innocence itself, why isn't this thread on the active list."

Does anyone remember the expression, "someone isn't playing with a full deck?" we used to use that years ago - wonder how it's described now....

    MARY, you're right - ignore, ignore, ignore - ;-)))))

Sunflowers, hoping you keep your power. That is almost the worst part of a hurricane for most people - losing power and waiting days to get it back up. Fingers crossed for you!

Ann - really -I feel renewed since leaving DC.  All my orignal good feelings about people, have been reborn since I arrived here, in this wee little town, not knowing ANYBODY 5 years ago.  Then, to top it off, being diagnosed with bc a few months later - and literally, having women, one by one, becoming friends, rallying around, "organizing" my rides to hospital, then to chemotherapy in BOSTON for Gawd's sake - 2 1/2 hours each way - so I could sleep in my own bed each night.  We used my car, I can laugh now, but I was terrified ( embarrassed???) at the possibility of getting sick in someone else's car.  Rode the 5 hours with my little bucket in my lap ;-)))  Ah, the old days.

Well, now - it's even BETTER.  Really, a neighbor not only loaning me the generator, but filing it with gas - and not letting me fill it.  I CAN DO IT.  "Yes, but it can't be too hot when you fill it."  Etc.

Oh, my, what a wonderful way to learn what someone wanted me to learn years ago:  HELP is not a four letter word.  Thanks for all good wishes - off to sweet dreams - and hope I can make it to the genral store in town, where they buy the Sunday New York Times for a lot of us, cuz it isn't delivered here!  Did I mention no cell phone service, no cable tv - I LOVE IT HERE!  ;-))))

Oh, Athena, no way we'll keep power.  This is the WOODS of the hilltowns - we lose it all the time in just plain ole wind ;-)))  We're prepared.  I even made hard boiled eggs.  I HATE hard boiled eggs;)

    nite ;)

I work on an elementary school playground, and sometimes kids have no social skills yet desperately want to be part of a group. They will annoy and harrass and insult the kids they really want to be with because they don't know of any other way to get attention.

Maybe that's what we're dealing with here.

I agree with you - IGNORE.  Tooo much destruction under the bridge, too many attacks on this thread, against BCO, let's just hope she stays on her "happy" thread - and leaves us alone.

IGNORE - was your best advice:)
