Happy Happy Birthday Rosemary - CELEBRATE..
Pip - love your 'emoticons' - yes, dazzling - and make me LAUGH - but you ARE in the right place
here.....definitely a better place to be...Chocolate Embrace - ah, sounds delicious! -
Where's that?
-
Greetings back at you rainbowpony. Nice flashy kitty! Hope all is good 'across the hall' too. I don't think you have an emoticon addiction though ... just a fondness for sparkly pictures
. At least the pictures are cute. Just popped in to say 'hi' and make sure you had all recovered from your festivities this weekend.
-
Hi Rainbowpony .. greetings! I like your new thread on being "Happy." I've posted there a couple of times.
WhiteRabbit ... it's good to see you. I'm still on a vacation high from the trip to NOTL. Wish I could do it all over again this weekend!
hugs,
Bren
-
Hi Patzee.
Bren, I still am beat. I guess old age is catching up with me.
-
Hi RainbowPony!
-
I just finished making plans and reservations for a trip to FL in October. Oceanfront condo for a week ... and visit with the daughter and grandkids too. Dogs will be boarding with the lady we got Daisy from and she has plenty of room for them to romp and play so they will have a good time too. Now all I need is somebody to move in my house and keep the cats company ... anybody want to run away from home for about 10 days?
-
WR where in FL? Maybe we can do lunch.
-
Jacksonville Beach ... daughter lives in Jacksonville and we have learned that oceanfront makes a much nicer visit than all crowding into her house
. That's about 4 hours from your area I think? -
(Searching again through new code book.....breast cancer, breast cancer...what does THAT stand for? And "smile"....oh boy!)
-
rainbowpony ... my sister lived in San Francisco for several years. They put in a pool ... and then complained that it was never hot enough to actually use the thing without freezing their patoots off. Mild weather year around still sounds good to me though.
-
R-Pony .. it was so much fun! I feel so fortunate that I got to go. I don't get my pics back until next week and then I'll post a bunch more! I had to use 2 throw-away cameras because my digital one was acting up. I hate waiting for my pics. I'm all out of patience!
Barbara ... do you still have to go to OK? Did you hear anything back about that yet?
Rabbit .. a condo on the beach sounds pretty wonderful. Much better than crowding into the house with family.
hugs,
Bren

Bren trying to get out of that trip. Meeting with (one of my 20) boss(es) tomorrow to beg. Yes, Wabbit, JAX is about 3.25 hours the way I drive. Maybe I can do a road trip. I like driving except around Orlando. Ugh.
-
Barb, you're a bundle of energy!
-
RP, we went to San Francisco in January one year and I couldn't believe the mild weather. I'd hate to give up my summer, but winter San Francisco style sure seems nice.
-
Barbara .. your driving cracks me up. One second you're cursing and the next second you're singing! I really miss you!
hugs,
Bren
PS .. Hope you can get out of the OK trip .. will keep my fingers crossed for you.
-
Thanks Bren.
Blue, I had to trot to keep up with you when you gave the guided tour of NOTL. You are the energetic one,
-
that is DEFINITELY NOT the "other place" I was talking about....definitely NOT....don't think anyone there is "threatening screen shots" - but if so, we've got our E to defend us....
-
Barb, I was afraid to stop in case I couldn't get going again!
-
Well, you sure kept my short little legs moving!
-
Oh Barbara, I am still tired too. I think it's warm enough to go float on the lake. Now what is screaming monster sinus headache code for?
-
Beets.

Rosemary,
I learned about this years ago, when I went to my favorite "healing" place The Apothecary, in Bethesda MD. I had the worst sinus infection, and hated then ( as I still do) to take antibiotics cuz of what they do to my stomach, so I asked the Pharmacist if there was ANYTHING that might help. He slid a box of this, the bottle is inside a box, across the counter - I knew the folks there very well. I said, something to the effect "I'm about to expire here, and you're giving me berries????" Irv, or MIckey, can't remember who, laughed, and slid another box toward me.
I grumbled, grumble, grumble, bought it, and took the suggested 4 tablespoons a day, and JUST as was said, to me, by the 4th day - I was FINE. SO, as I've said I really liked these folks, I went back to the Apothecary and I MADE him say "I told you so." And now, it's availble in several different foumulas, without sugar, etc. SO, I don't have sinus infections anymore, stopped eating all dairy, and there just isn't enough "stuff" in there to get stuffed up. BUT, fair warning, don't get between me and a piece of Hard Cheddar cheese ;-))))
Good luck. Whole Foods, everybody has it now.

OK - day 1 was good - managed to walk to the top of the cliffs of Moher. Frustrating because bus could not stop for many photo ops - roads too narrow. P'd off because we got back to the hotel late and didn't eat dinner until 8:30 or later. DH loved the links course they played. Our guide did go on a bit much, but I loved County Clare. Tomorrow we go to Bunratty Castle and Adare.
Happy Birthday Rosemary!!!

Barbara, Rosemary, I'm tired, too! I thought it was suppressed stress, but maybe I'm just tired. Sometimes, tired is just tired.

Greetings, all! Checking back in but not attempting the 30 plus pages you managed while I was gone!!
Peru was amazing. Stole my heart. The Inca Trail hike was brutal, but worth every step to come into Machu Picchu via the Sun Gates as the sun was rising to light up the ruins. We had an awesome trekking group--Tim and I were the only Americans with 10 Brits. Brits sure know how to have a good time and just be chill!
E, just so you know, I did NOT partake in the Peruvian delicacy called "cuy" (pronounced cooey)--AKA guinea pig. But villagers have them running free in their homes (therefore they are not fond of cats!) Male cuy get sacrificed to the gods for planting season. It's amazing that a culture that is 85% Catholic still lives by traditional Incan rites!
I DID eat alpaca, though. So good!! But I couldn't think about those cute little critters at the same time...
Glad to be home, though not eager to open up the stinky gear bags and do laundry. Took 30 hours almost to get home. Morning flight from Cusco to Lima, then our connection to the States wasn't till after midnight. And I just don't sleep well sitting up--this plane's business class really sucked!
Anyway, carry on. My kitty needs some attention!
-
Sounds beautiful, Sue! Although dinner-too-late can make me very cranky...
Sunflowers and Rosemary -- I swear by Sambucol for warding off colds -- I take it at the first hint and it seems to work really well. It's black elderberry extract, shown in lab studies to kill viruses. [But this past February, I did have to take antibiotics (Augmentin) to get rid of horrible entrenched bacterial sinus infection.]
And yes, the liqueur Sambuca also involves black elderberries, but that compound is more of an anti-anxiety med than an anti-viral!
-
Yeah, Ann - I was a bit concernd about sounding "weird" suggesting it - but I too swear by it. At the first sign of sniffles, I start the 4 tablespoons a day - and it's gone in about 2 days.
Didn't know about the liquer - can only imagine that stuff on ice cream - which is not allowed in my little cabin anymore!!! alas....
-
I have but a moment because then I am off to a bridal shower.
Forgive me for not posting to anyone directly - I need to come back and read all of the news first so that I can catch up.
My bladder issue - I have glomerulations on the bladder wall - in our speak it means I have pinpoint bleeding on my bladder wall. I see the urologist at the end of the month.
I had an echocardiagram done last week. The results are my left ventricle is only working at 50% - it should be working at 60%. I have two valves that are regurgitating which means the valves are not opening and closing properly. My heart wall is abnormal. That is all I know from the phone call today. I am calling tomorrow to set up an appt with my PCP and get a referral for a cardiologist.
Can I just say this SUCKS!!!
Ok, back to the regular scheduled program gals

-
Susieq - At the Cliffs of Moher, did you walk on past the "Do Not Walk Past This Point" sign? It's a rite of passage, you know. Bunratty is a bit touristy but I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Make sure you stop at Durty Nelly's!
AnneW - Thank you for not partaking of cuy. I'm looking at my little guys right now and wondering how anyone could eat something so sweet, so harmless, so easy to catch, so fat......OH I get it now. ;-) Sounds like you had a terrific time! I get to go to Colombia in October and I have no idea what I'm in for.
Welcome RP!
