Just had breakfast - instant oats. Cooked DH bacon and eggs - I'm too good to him, but he is playing golf today and doesn't get lunch. We now have the cash for the holiday - he finally got paid by one client!!!
I'm going to do the groceries early today - I hate it when I go later like I did last week - too crowded.
I feel down after reading the crap on that review site, it's just too sad that women who have gone through the whole bc thing could be so f-ing nasty to us.
Have a drink on me girls!!

if I recall my Anthony Bourdain, guinea pig tastes more like rabbit than chicken....rabbit....mmmmmmmm.....just checked out rabbit at the market---over $10 a pound. . . .wonder what guinea pig would be like in mustard sauce? Oh Anne, could you do some research please. . . .
About That Other Place After considerable thought and reflection, I have nothing but compassion for the very very troubled women, or woman, who has posted all the negative reviews attacking individual members of this board. Such unhappy miserable people or person!!!! I mean honestly, such stuff from a grown-up? The mind boggles. There is no point of arguing with such insanity and IMHO, no point in making efforts to combate the lies. I have always suspected anyone who argues that much about their beliefs--seems to me if you really believe and have confidence in what you say, you don't need to beat up everyone who disagrees with you. As far as the impact on BCO, as someone who deals with reading such reviews for work, I feel confident in saying any professional looking at the review site will quickly realize what is going on after they read one chain of comments and will just disregard the attacks in favor of better evidence.
We all know the truth about ourselves and this place, right? so lets keep our own attitudes positive and decrease the stress in our lives by uniting to IGNORE THE B@$T@RD$!!!!! and focus on whats really important:
DINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sooooo funny! This is one of the best afternoons ever, at the BCOB&G. I'm sitting here giving myself a sore tummy, laughing so much that Mr. otter is looking at me suspiciously.
Let's see... AnnNYC is having Señor Pollo = old chicken? AnneW will be feasting on roasted guinea pig. (Watch out, E!) I know absolutely nothing about tomatillos except for the literal translation; but a discussion of plant sex is always welcome. And, I am not fond of green sauces, because they remind me of other less tasty things.
Gotta go. Mr. otter cannot find the snack crackers. He thinks I hid them somewhere in the travel trailer.

Thanks Mama - you are so right - I'm not going to look anymore. I just get upset when they make direct references to some of us and really upset when they mentioned the mods by name. I'm glad that I haven't ended up so bitter from having bc - in fact it's given me lots of great new cyber friends!! Thankyou all for just being here.
Sue
-
susieq58, I so agree. I have the choice get bitter or not. I also chose to become some what active on BCO. I am so glad I did, as you said I've made lots of cyber friends. I'm really excited about meeting some of them tomorrow in fact.

The Apricots are Coming!!!
The Apricots are Coming!!!
no! Stop it! Its not in the book well maybe it is but still, thats not code for squat--its just that the apricot farmer emailed me that he finally has apricots!!! and I'm sitting in a virtually empty office on a friday afternoon with no one to share the news but you guys!
while you in the rest of the country are suffering with heat, we are behind in warmth, behind in stone fruit, behind in blackberries. The blackberries are so late that I am anticipating being able to pick them when we get back from holiday in September which is NOT typical. I am usually long done with making apricot jam by now but this year, I am just getting my first mega box (15-20 lbs i think) of apricots tomorrow. This means I will be spending Sunday making jam.....mmmmmmmm
And next week my very favorite farmer will have his apricots which means MORE Jam.
.....guess what our favorite jam flavor is?
-
Manzo Bordeaux, fondant potatoes, field greens with dried cherries and onion and honey balsamic vinaigrette.( Steak medallions with wild mushrooms and bordeaux sauce, potatoes cooked in chicken broth and salad). With a big glass of wine. A wonderful dinner and I am so glad my DH takes me out on Friday night.
Now anybody who thinks we talk in code can figure that out herself
The meeting with the new boss went well but it was set for "this morning" in other words whenever he got around to me. An interesting point, his mom had a mastectomy last year.He might actually have a clue..
-
Hey 3m, do you like apricots?
-
Must stay away from the review site...
they have sunk to the lowest level possible.
Dinner is pizza.
-
Hello all you wonderful women!
I am back from NYC--and seeing Ann who is absolutely amazing!!-- I have not read the 20+ pages I missed, but I wanted to say "hi" to everyone.
I see the board has changed dramatically, and I will have to catch up with all the changes.
(((HUGS))))
-
Mary .. it's great to see you. I'm glad you were able to meet Ann. I will be meeting her next week in Buffalo and I can't wait!
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip ... welcome home.
Bren
-
Thank you, Bren.
I am soooo upset that I can't meet you all next week. You will love Ann! But then again, we are all awesome women!

Hey, everyone. Robert had his surgery on Tuesday. The good news is that he had a bubblegum flavored mask to drift off to sleep with before getting the IV stick. (Why they stop doing that at age 8, I don't know. I sure would like to be out when the techs go rooting around for a vein to poke.) The bad news: They did not find his nut, aka the "vanishing testicle." At least that means no more surgeries for the little guy, which is good since he did instruct me not to let "those stupid nurses and stupid doctors put a camera in my bellybutton again!" I was very proud of him for being pretty agreeable, all things considered, and he totally soaked up all the extra lap time attention I gave him once he got home.
-
Joan ... I'm sorry they couldn't find Roberts missing part. Poor baby, but it sounds like he was a real trooper with the surgery. He deserved all that extra lap time and attention!
hugs to Robert,
Bren

Dinner = soba noodles with cucumbers and tofu in a spicy miso and seaweed broth, cold. Feeling lazy, and it was mighty tasty. (These soba noodles have an especially intense buckwheat flavor, which I love; it's one of those nostalgia flavors for me . . . oddly enough, since I never really ate it as a kid. Other than Buckwheats cereal.)
Anne, have you left yet? I'm waving frantically at you and wishing you a wonderful time on your trip! My onc is Peruvian (and has the most beautiful almond eyes and looks as though he's all of 19) and at my last visit was pitching a Peruvian vacation to me (not with him, I hasten to add). I would love to go there someday.
In the meantime, I'll have to make do with Peruvian chicken when I'm in New York (no real Peruvian community, and hence no Peruvian chicken, here in Detroit); the place by my SO serves it with both that yummy green sauce and an equally yummy orangish sauce. I go back and forth between them, trying to decide which I like best. And (speaking in a very low voice) you don't have to go to Peru or Ecuador to eat guinea pig. I've seen it on the menu in Brooklyn, and I'm betting you can find it in Queens, too. But - cross my heart! - I've never ordered it.
3mm, I saw lots of apricots (and my new fave, nectarcots) at the Ballard market last weekend. And I picked up some more when I was in northern Michigan this week. I love 'em, too.
Finally - this is going back a page or so - I can't believe no one else has pointed out that Ellie's mom seems to have dated Otter's dad back in the day!
L
Edited to add: Joan, we cross-posted . . . glad your son is done with surgery, sorry the results weren't what you wanted. What a bright, funny kid he must be!
-
Ok, everyone:
Haricots verts at 12. Green peppers at the QDC. The Eagle lands at half past pasta. Eggs and ham. Paris and Tokyo, or, if lettuce, then Jamaica. Hopefully, not hot chocolate, otherwise, Sing-Sing or Angola!!
E - I got your YM at the EP - got that?
Ok, everyone - your stations!!
-
Mary - welcome back. I am not surprised that you find Anne wonderful. I have not met her in person but I'm sure I would have the same impression. So sorry I can't go to NOLA - I try not to think about it.
-
Whew ... you all have been chatty. Lots to catch up with.
This is better than a novel or TV show ... you just never know where it is going to take you
but you know it will be fun getting there with lots of laughs along the way. That poor review site has jumped the shark into slapstick. Nobody, nowhere, nohow is ever going to take any of that sh*t flinging seriously. It's like trying to read a temper tantrum.
Tomatoes are finally appearing in great quantities. This has not been a great gardening year here. First too wet, then too hot and dry. We did have a few really nice looking grapes almost ripe on the grape vine. The darn birds got each and every one of them. DH got so peeved he took down the bird feeders
Dinner was stuffed green peppers. Now I'll have an Irish Coffee please ... am going back to read the rest of what you all have been up to.
-
((((Joan))) your son sounds like such a trouper!
Athena, we will commisserate together!
-
((((Joan))))
Poor little guy. All that pain and hassle for naught. Give him extra hugs. he deserves them!
-
(((((((Joan)))))))) -- hugs for you and Robert. Sorry he's had to endure all this poking around, and hope he doesn't have to again, ever!!!
((((((Mary)))))) -- I had such a wonderful time! Covertanjou is so beautiful, kind, warm, smart and funny!!! But you all knew that! And the "Anjous" are a delightful couple!!!
I'm so excited about NOTL ! Just wish every one of us could be there!
-
I just got back. Went and had my hair shaped. It looks nice but I'll never get it to look like this again. The hairdresser thought my antennae were cool. He gave me a big hug!
I'm gonna go read the review site now. Haven't read too much here either but will later.
Dinner was out tonight and it was delish!
-
Hey, Blue, post us a picture if you care. We have codes for hair too, you know.

-
((Joan))
Athena I need the decoder ring. -
LOL - that's code for laughing out loud.
Joan - hugs to the little man
Sue
-
I have a headache from laughing so much! UNREAL!!!!!!!!!! That review site is a laugh. Give a fool enough rope, and he will hang himself!
-
Joan, (((((hugs))))) for Robert. What a brave little man he is!
Athena -- clarification on Angola ... New York or Luanda? Makes a difference in mode of transport, and then we need to consider which passport ....
Barbara, glad you're safely home and sleeping a little more.... Hope tonight is a long sleep night!
This is a fun place to hang out and practice coding.
L -
It is NOT MORAL to have this much fun!
Code for: Be good!

I'm talking about the BCO B&G bartender.....who IS our bartender, anyway? This wonderful, invisible person. I'm adding a nice tip.
-
(((((((Joan)))))))
Is your baby in any pain?
-
That's it - the fwits now have my name on there as a reviewer - I'm changing back to my old name or maybe I'll make up a sock puppet.
