Take a rest Blue you deserve it.
NHC say hi to Athena for me. I just made two pitchers of iced tea. One herbal fruit punch flavor for the grands (Celestial Seasoning sure has changed over the years). One decaf for the grownups. And there is more in the fridge. It looks like it will be a beautiful day here. Good We can swim and float and have fun in the water. And eat M&Ms. My vice.
-
Happy Birthday Hal & Tim!
Blue, sorry to hear your tired. Rest up, and we will see you later.
I had the most amazing salad today: baby greens with grilled chicken, dried cranberries and pecans in a balsamic vinaigrette. YUMMY!
My dad is out of the hospital, and I will be celebrating Father's Day with him tomorrow. I'm glad to have another Father's Day with my dad.
-
Hal just ordered pizza for his Birthday lunch.
-
Mary .. I'm so glad you get another Father's day with your dad. Enjoy the time with him. I lost my dad two years ago and still miss him terribly.
Rosemary .. pizza sounds good .. I just had a protein bar and gatorade!
Bren
-
Bren, thank you. I am sorry about your dad ((((((HUGS))))).
-
Pepperoni for him mushroom for me.

Happy Birthday Hal and Tim!
Tonight's dinner is free-range drug-free roast chicken, sweet potato, swiss chard and salad.
It really, really bothers me that mass-produced chickens are fed antibiotic-laced grain, and I cannot understand why the federal health agencies don't put a stop to it. We humans are developing antibiotic-resistant infections at a greater and greater rate, and it's costing mega-dollars in regard to tx and research.
(My rant for the day -- even though it's food-based)
-
Otter, I'm doing my rain dance for you. I don't know what kind of blueberries I have but they are just beginning to turn. It'll be a week or so before I get enough for anything. Had gallons and gallons last year and this rain has pretty much guaranteed another bumper crop.
Birthday wishes to all.
-
Kadeeb .. hope your rain dance covers Virginia too ... we really need it, and who knows, maybe my blueberry plants will recover.
Otter .. sure hope the damage to your boat is not extensive and can be easily fixed.
Blue .. thinking about you and hoping you're getting some rest. I know your appointment the other day took a lot out of you. Hope Virg is doing betting today too.

Mary, I am very happy your dad is getting out so you can celebrate Father's Day. Bren, I am with you. This is the first Father's Day without my father and I really miss him. Blue, just rest. Otter, still sucks about your boat. Linda, I totally agree it is a crime what they put into animal feed. Dinner sounds great!
-
Barbara, thank you. I am sorry about your dad. (((HUG)))))

I think I figured out the bullying/food thing. I think it was an attempt at humour. Like there's this lovely description of something yummy and the person can't have it, so they're being bullied.
People sure are strange.
I haven't read any posts on this thread that should be reported - they must do it for fun.
Sue

Sue methinks it is way more complex than that. Just sayin'.
-
I agree - it was very bizzare on face value but I tried to look at it more simply.
Time for bacon and eggs - our treat on a Sunday morning - I hope no one takes offence at my menu.

Margarita, anyone?
Hubs has some triple sec, but I do fine with the ready-mix variety: add a whiff of tequila to half a glass of margarita mix on the rocks, and I'm good to go. It certainly helps against the heat.
Father's Day. Ah, yes... I sent my dad a special Father's Day card, and then realized there was no one at the nursing home who could open it and read it to him. Mom used to visit Dad every afternoon. She would show him any cards or letters he'd received, and put the cards on his shelf where he could see them.
So, I called the nursing home to find out whether someone could open the card for him. "Sure," the receptionist told me. "Our 'Social Director' takes the residents' cards to their rooms, opens them, and reads them to the residents. But, I'll check to be sure your dad has seen the card you sent." Whew. If I can't be there myself (a thousand miles away), at least I can know they're taking good care of him. Alzheimer's is such a strange disease. Dad does not recognize anyone in the family anymore, but he can still wiggle his ears on request.

Alzheimer's is very strange, isn't it, Otter? The last time I visited my mother, every 20 minutes she would say, "But you look so much like Ann!" I would answer, "I am Ann, Mom!" Then, the last time, I added, "so I should look like Ann, only older and fatter!" She laughed at that.
But in the midst of the many hours of those three days, she said "I have some clip-on earrings in my jewelry box at the cottage that I should give to you, because you're the only one whose ears aren't pierced." She was exactly right that I'm the only one of my sisters, SILs, nieces who wears clip-ons. She herself had gotten her ears pierced when she was about 60. She had in fact given me all the clip-ons from her "jewelry box at the cottage" in about 1983... But I was so touched that, really, she did know something about who I am! [And a little kicker is that my not-yet-ex-husband had bought me a pair of pierced earrings as a present in about 1995 -- so my Mom-with-Alzheimer's was more clued in than he was in that regard, lol!]
-
Oh Ann what a DH and I don't mean dear husband!
Tonight is leftover shrimp and pasta. Smile. -
Mmm...We provided hamburgers and hot dogs and potato salad and tossed salad and my kids brought brats and saurkraut and chili for the hodogs. Dessert will be pie or strawberry shortcke.
-
rosemary, is it too late to show up for leftovers? Or, maybe too early?
otter
-
Barbara, I do believe I know what you mean! Although I usually said "bonehead"
!
-
Too early otter. Come by after dessert.
-
This pic is too funny. Just had to share.
They were both on my lap play fighting.
Poor Virg has a broken leg. Was scheduled for surgery on Thursday, but the surgeon decided at the last minute that his leg was already healing. WE had brought him to the vet 2 weeks ago and he assured us that it was just a bad bruise. Two weeks later and $1,000 poorer, we're told he's doing just fine on his own. I think we should get Universal Health Care for Pets too.
-
OMG, so cute! Sorry about Virgil's leg -- but sounds good that he didn't need surgery.
-
Blue
Your dogs are the cutest. Glad Virg didn't need surgery.
-
Blue, Your dogs are way to cute. What kind are they? We have a sheltie and a cocker spaniel. Some day if I figure out how to add pictures to this dang computer I can put a face to my pets and me.
-
Virgil is a Toy Fox Terrier, weighs 6 lbs. and Lilah us a Miniature Shih Tzu and weighs 5 lbs. They are really attached to each other and me. Wherever I go, they go, the spoiled brats!
-
Blue:
They are both precious - glad Virgil is recovering. Don't you just love the vet's bills? My vet wanted $500 to clean Munchkin's teeth - my groomer charges me $15 for the same service. I do think we need OHIP for pets too.
Sandy
-
Oh I so understand them being attached to us. Ours sleep with us nightly. The sheltie sleeps on my pillow, and the cocker spaniel sleeps in Mikes arm pit. I can't imagine life without them.
-
Kira that's so cute. Virgil liked to sleep under the covers at my feet but after we got Lilah, they both sleep together in their crate. I got a real nice one for them.
Sandy, we got insurance for them now, but I still think OHIP should cover it. hehehehhehe!
-
We made the mistake of taking them to our bed when we got them. The cocker spaniel Misty came from the pound, and was very scared when we got her. We tried the crate at first, but that night she was so sad so in she came. After her it just seemed natural to take Kira into our bed as well.
How does the insurance on dogs work? It seems they cost more than us at times.
