guess a slap on the hand is better than bamboo on the soles of the feet! gawwd, I feel arful for enjoying reading about food--regardless of what thread it is posted on.....holding out my hands.....
-
junie, if you hold out your hands, somebody here is likely to put dinner in them.

-
Just had peanut butter toast for brekky - but now will have to go and buy the groceries - usual Sat morning routine - hohum
-
God, I so hate Fridays - what in tarnation is going on???
BTW dinner was ice cream, then a huge hot dog - tonight starts the Sound Of Music Festival here in Burlington - I have friends who have a restaurant on the main street - need I say more?
Must go and take the dog for a looooooooooooong walk.
E - you are cracking me up.

The shrimp was killer if I do say so myself. dH was stunned at how good it was. Hee hee. I can still wow him.
-
My selection for dinner changed when I saw the menu. Ancho/coffee marinated flank steak instead of the filet. The retsaurant we went to buys local meat, poultry, dairy, veggies and wine. We had a bottle of a good local Capricio. MmmMmmgood. Now what is my punishment for talking about what I ate . I hope it's 40 lashes with a wet noodle. I had a baked potato and I'd hate to be hit with one of those.
-
Y'all are embarrassing me, except for Sandy, who had ice cream for a main course followed by a large hot dog.
I chickened out on the fish, and made a ... um, .... ahem... hamburger helper with elk burger instead of beef. Ground elk is extremely lean -- there's no fat ground into it at all; it's just trimmings from roasts and steaks. But, it is red meat, so there's that. This particular HH mix was an Italian pasta style, to which I added sliced mushrooms and black olives to increase the veggie content. It actually was quite good.
I'm having my usual Blue Bell Pecan Pralines & Cream for dessert. I wish I had some chocolate. Hmmm.... I just remembered that bottle of Bailey's in the fridge. It was a birthday present for dh, but who's counting?

Well .. I'm not a happy camper .. my post on the previous page got reported. What the hell .. I wasn't even posting to another person. I was talking about a friend of mine in Utah for pete's sake.
Somebody really has a screw loose.

Jeepers Bren~
You weren't even talking about food...

C'mon. That is so stupid. This could be a long weekend.

Wow Bren

Ladies,
I am so far behind, I don't know if I need to wind my a$$ or scratch my watch. I haven't posted for a while but have done my best to lurk enough to keep up with the thread. Hadn't been on in a week or so and was so sad to hear about KK. We all know the possibilities of this disease but knowing and having to experience are different things. Many of you knew her better than myself but I always enjoyed her humor (regardless of spelling) informed comments and passion. You know that hole you feel in your heart when you loose someone special, I believe that is a part of you, that your someone special takes with them when they're gone, so they'll never be without us and we'll never be without them because they left us with our memories and experiences.
Now! What the heck is going on with the slamming of our food discussions. I know I haven't been posting lately but I couldn't believe that someone was offended because dinner was being discussed. Even if I didn't have time to post, I could always come by and get some great ideas about what I might cook or simply drool over what you guys had eaten. Did someone post a really crappy recipe? I may have to post a food oriented comment because I don't do hockey. Yes we like to comment on political issues but sometimes it's better not to if you don't have anything new or exciting to add to the discussion. BTY, I think the "weiner" issue could fall into the food or politics category.

Kadeeb:
Your Weiner remark was pretty funny.
As for the "other stuff" it's just the usual Friday Night Hit and Run - always the same people I suspect, just different id's - something for the mods to take care of I wish!!!!!

I am seriously confused, this is not snark, really. A thread in the "Growing our Friendships After Treatment" has been happily continuing for 321 pages, women get to know wach other, share laughs, some opinions, generally have fun - and then one personstarts to post on that thread and calls ANYTHING said about "food" to be BULLYING HER?
I SERIOUSLY do not get it. If that person doesn't want to be friends with the women posting on this thread in the "GRowing our Friendships After Treatment" - then why doesn't she just start another thread in the same forum, to post with the people she does want to be in communication with?
This thread, is not in a Forum about a SPECIFIC condition of bc, it is not here to give advice about the disease, it is here to GROW FRIENDSHIPS. PLEASE, moderators, read Blue's original Post - and notice the number of pages of "growing friendships" - and then one person posts an ANONYMOUS PM she receives as "evidence" of some sort of "bullying." Really???? Who sent that email?
Could someone please explain this to me? Thanks. Still drooling over a comment about a BIG bag of M&M's - they aren't even allowed in my house, had to ban them with the Marshmallow Fluff.
-
Caerus, there is no explanation for the inane/insane stuff people say.
So today is Bren's Mr. Tim's BDay. Happy Day to Tim!
Today is looking like a float in the pool day. I am off to change.
-
Today is my Hal's b-day too. Grandkids coming over. No cake just pie and strawberry shortcake and lots of M&Ms.
-
Happy BDay to Hal, too! Strawberry shortcake. Yum.

As otter stated a few posts back, we seem to be in line for more rain today. My mom and dad are finally having a new roof put on their house. Hoping they'll finish up today and I won't have to make so many trips, but the weather isn't helping. There's not much I can do but I feel like I need to be pretty close. I have a few blueberry bushes that really needed the moisture but enough already.
-
Happy Birthday to Hal! and to my Mr. Tim!
Kadeeb .. my blueberry bushes suck this year. I didn't even bother to pick any. Well, maybe there were five berries on six plants. They probably need more water. My tomatoes are in a sorry state as well. No wonder I gave up veggie gardening this year. My flowers, though, are lovely. Hope your folks can get their roof on before the rain comes.
Barbara .. floating sounds like a wonderful thing to do today. Wish I could join you. I've finished mowing in this dreadful heat and humidity and now a swim would be perfect! Think I'll just chill today and read a book.
Sunflowers .. I thought that was really strange too about the food bullying thing. We've been talking about food on this thread since before it started! Food, politics and chit chat .. just what friends do.
Hope everyone has a great day,
Bren

Anybody wanting blueberries, come to western MA - they seemed to have loved the rain, I have several "wild" ones near my cabin, & a fabuous "pick your own" blueberry farm just a few streets away. Seriously hope all in the South are recovering from those storms - we had a tornado just a few miles south. It was terrifying! Went right across I 91 - major road going from New Haven CT up to Canadian border - so strange to have tornado in this area. Luckily we just got hail.
-
Hey, kadeeb, can you send some of that rain down here? Y'all have been hogging it all, I think. Last night we had a fascinating band of rain blow through -- on the radar it was yellow and orange, backed up with several hours of green. But, all we got was 1/4 inch. I'm thinking it blew sideways and never got into the rain gauge, but the weather guys on TV seem to back up the rain gauge results.
I left all the hoses out last night, thinking if I pumped water onto the rhodies and azaleas right up to the point of a downpour, we'd get lots of rain. Nope. Didn't work this time. Our blueberries look pitiful, but that's partly because there's too much shade and they didn't get watered at all last year. There have been some ripe berries, but hubs has been eating more than he brings back when he goes out picking. We did have blueberry pancakes yesterday morning, though, with real (Wisconsin) maple syrup. Yum!
Glad to hear your folks are finally getting their roof repaired. I can't believe how long it's taking to clean things up and rebuild or make repairs. NBC had a report on yesterday about all the guys named "Phil Campbell" who showed up in Phil Campbell, AL, this weekend, to help with the cleanup there. It was funny and touching to see them coming from all over the world just because they shared a name with that small town.
Our boat was pulled out of the dock wreckage last Tuesday. We had told the marina owner we wanted to be there to supervise/witness the event. He said the salvage company would get to our boat on Thursday (6/16) at the earliest but most likely it wouldn't be until Monday (6/20). That's what we planned for; and then they called Tuesday afternoon to announce it was already done. Ya think maybe they didn't want us there, watching? At least it was still floating (I guess). We're supposed to go up there on Monday to meet the insurance company surveyor and inspect for damage.
I thought we were supposed to "turn the other cheek" (so to speak), and avoid confrontation on these boards. I thought the Mods had urged members to "ignore" comments we didn't like or didn't agree with. Since when is refusal to engage in an argument considered "bullying"?
It's time for brunch.

-
Caerus, I have no words.
Nothinghaschanged please tell Athena hello for me. Off to float.
-
Sunflowers .. yippee! You've officially arrived! But I read all your posts and there was nothing in them to warrant being reported. Guess we can just chalk it up to being the weekend.
NHC .. I've got my gatorade on my desk!
hugs,
Bren

Happy floating...
if anyone eats vanilla icecream with M&M's - have fun eating the colored swirlies
I prefer to top with marshmallow fluff, but know others prefer whipped cream - "I say yes, you say no"
-
Happy Boirthday Hal and Tim. Somebody's been reporting my posts too.
Tired today......gonna take it easy.
