Got a good one for ya'
Blue Virginia website, it's a blog, has a video of John Boehner, explaining why Eric Cantor lost.
Ya wanna guess who's to blame?
It's Hysterical, I can hear our Enjoyful yelling the B word....

Kay, when you look under the youtube video you will see share, embed, and email. Click on share and you'll see a link in a box. Copy that link. Then in the posting box here look for the little link symbol (two little links chained together). Paste that link into the url line. Then go down to the other line and give it whatever name you want to give it. Edited to add: I forgot when you click on the little chain link icon here then you have to pick "insert link."
-
Kay, let me know once you've gotten the directions so I can delete that image.
-
Sunnyflowers, I saw the write-up in Daily Kos. Unfreakingbelievable! I particularly like it in light of the fact that the markets are at record highs and we have recovered the same number of jobs that we had before Bush's recession and are creating jobs at a rate not seen since the Clinton administration, in spite of the total obstructionism of the regressives in Congress.
It is raining today. Thanks, Obama.
My knee hurts. Thanks, Obama.
I need to go on a diet. Thanks, Obama.

Okay .. I'm off topic yet again. Does anyone know if you can do a "search" in your private messages folder? I can't find anything that says "search" and I'm trying to find an old message.
hugs,
Bren
PS .. Kay, if you'll describe the youtube, I can find it and post it for you.
-
RR Oh thank you. I think that I have entered a new era.
My brother who is a citizen of Australia (I keep saying that because I have another brother who lives in Fort McMurray AB), sent me this Youtube. It does poke fun at Abbott, and Americans so maybe I am speaking out of both sides of my mouth. But it is funny. And compiled from many speeches, interviews etc. that Tony Abbott has given.
-
Kay - FYI Tony Abbott was responsible for getting Herceptin put on our pharmaceutical scheme - so we can all have the treatment for free. Don't start bagging him please.
-
Kam .. one last try on the pictures of the windows.
Sorry the pic is so huge. The door and windows on the right are into the living room. This is the front covered porch. To the left you can almost see the very same windows that go into the kitchen.
-
Suzie. I am certain that Tony Abbott has done a lot of good. Egalitarianism, informality, and an irreverent sense of humour are supposed to be Australian cultural norms, are they not?
Did you watch it? If you did, didn't it make you smile, even a bit?
-
Kay, the link didn't work for me.
-
oops Suzie. I can't open it on my iPad so maybe you can't open it either.
I think I'll try again.Tony Abbott
-
Ah, let's see. This is a thread where liberals tend to talk and we like a certain president but someone doesn't have a problem with "bagging" on him here but...
Suzie, do you see a problem with this reasoning?
-
no that didn't appear to work again I'll try again later
-
Kay, make sure that you are copying the youtube link in that box after clicking on share. Then make sure that you're pasting that link into the insert link url box here.
-
Try the link now - it wasn't the right URL, as River_Rat suggested.
-
Is this the same Tony Abbott that referred to my country as Canadia on his visit earlier this week?
-
I had already seen the video. Sandy - he had just a moment before said Canadians, so it was a reasonable slip of the tongue.
-
Sorry, Bren, there's no way to search PMs. We've looked too, and we have a LOT of 'em. If you have some idea of when the PM was sent/received, it can help narrow the field, and using your browser's Search function on each page can speed things up - if you know the PM mentions...say... "okra" or some other distinctive word, search each page to see results for that.

Thanks Mods ... good suggestion!

Kay, that did make me giggle.
-
I smiled ( T. Abbott ) was abler to open the second link fine. Maybe it was repaired.
Bren, your house is really pretty.....and I love windows that let in lots of light.

( need to go do some reading now ).

Susie----that sign is funny
-
Great video Kay!! I laughed out loud. Yes - that's the guy who took two tries to get the name of the country he was visiting. Too bad since our PM thinks Australia's is quite wonderful. -
Suzie - funny sign
-
I loved that sign Suzie! I know there was a little dig in it. But it's a fair poke.
Thanks Mods for fixing my link for me!
Yesterday, when I went to vote in the Ontario Provincial Election, I was really worried that the Conservatives, who have been taking pointers from the Tea Party, the current government in Australia, actually, anyone who would support their contention that if we lowered corporate taxes (already amongst the lowest in North America), cut 100,000 civil servants (teachers, front line healthcare workers), and social programmes, we would somehow reach full employment. This province is still struggling from the last recession and reputable economists said it was more likely that their pledges would trigger a massive recession. My DH who is the owner of a small corporation with 5 employees, who he pays equitably, said if they win it is time to think about leaving this sinking ship! Unfortunately I know how serious he was. My feeling is you can run, but it makes more sense to face them with facts. The electorate (fingers crossed) is not stupid (but they have been in the recent past) or deluded into thinking if you only look out for yourself (through lower taxes) everything will be ok. We are only as strong as the weakest members of our community.
Their strategy did not work. The Liberals were re-elected with a majority. (They had been a minority.). The people of Ontario spoke. The Federal Government, in Ottawa, which is led by Conservatives (who have the same good buddies in the USA and Oz), who hold a majority now, and face the electorate in 2015, had better take note.

Kay, I went to bed last night happy and relieved!!! This time fear lost out and good economic sense won. I'm proud of my fellow Ontarians.
Edited to add: Hooray! Lassie's Liberal cousin is now an MPP (Member of Provincial Parliament). Congratulate him for all of us, Lassie!

Good Morning Buddies!
I am so happy today ... going to spend Tim's vacation pay and pick up my new glasses. Yay! I haven't been able to see the TV or barely read with my old glasses. Thank goodness my sunglasses are prescription lenses so I can still see to drive! This eye place is really messed up though. They have totally confused Tim and I and charged the wrong insurance for the exams and glasses. Oh well ... I'm not going to straighten this mess out today .. just want to get my glasses and run my errands.
More good news! The A/C is going to be fixed either this afternoon or Monday afternoon. I'm so glad. It gets really hot in here in the evenings. I feel bad for Tim that he doesn't get to vacation or buy something nice for himself ... since he's the one who worked so hard to earn the vacation pay.
Will catch up with everyone later today.
hugs,
Bren

for the Canadians....double yay.
Bren....you need to see properly ( says someone who has been stalling going for an eye exam ) and I know my prescription has changed. I have no line trifocals in one lens, the other just normal....so I can tell when there has been a change coming on.
Also good news on the a/c. It is ( maybe I'm super spoiled to it ) I think hard on the system of older people when you have to endure too much heat -- especially if humidity is factored into it......and it will come, even if somewhat sporadic right now.
I bet Tim feels for you Bren.....having to endure your eye issues and he suffers with the heat too. Sometimes you just have to do what HAS to get done. You each contribute to the comforts of the other -- this is just the way it is resolving right now.
Sunny here but humidity down. I can do ok with that for sure.
Jackie
