OMG! There is hope. Gov. " Goodhair" Perry will NOT run for Gov of Texas.
Of course he's still toying with another stupid run for Prez.
I've been among the missing but I'm doing better. Scan results today BORING with a little regression in the liver area. -
Chickadee,
This is wonderful news. Congratulations on being so boring!
-
Chick -- "Regression" is such a good word; much, much better than "regressive" IYKWIM

-
Toronto is having flooding and massive outages. If I hear anyone say there is no global warming, I will have to buy a plastic hammer! What do you idjuts think is gonna happen when the ice caps start melting (and they have receded substantially)! ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!!!!
-
Chickadee, I'm glad you checked in. I've been wondering how you are and regression is a good thing. How was your cruise?
Blue, sporadic flooding here too. Torrential rain every freakin' day. I'm glad we got away last week, so at least we had five days with no rain. I can't imagine how depressed I'd be if we hadn't had that break. Our house is still fine but DD's had some seepage into the basement. So in between monsoons DH and S-I-L have been creating a better slope around their house and extending downspouts. Two guys that my husband works with had 18" in their very nicely finished basements so we are very lucky.
-
Chickadee, glad to see you and that you have boring news.
RR, it has been raining here every day and still expected to rain for a few days to come. HYdro is out in a lot of places, including my parents', my daughter and grandson are not home yet as the subways are out and some of our highways are car height under water.
So far we have been lucky (I live north of the city) but my flowers are drowning!
-
RR, my cruise brought me face to face with reality. Just don't have the energy anymore. I had good days and a couple days where I didn't leave the cabin, but we had a balcony so I enjoyed the view in port and at sea. I enjoyed the spa therapy pool a couple days and the steam rooms. Appetite was in the pits so missed out on lots of scrumptious food.
So travel now will take even more forethought. I'm glad I went but that is probably the last cruise.
Sorry for the whine. Actually feel pretty good this last week but tomorrow is infusion day so I know where that will take me. -
I'm sorry, chickadee. Dammit.
-
Boring....such a melodious word at times....Blue....your home is so pretty even if the flowers are getting way too much to drink. In fact, all of the street ( neighbors' houses ) looked 'kept' very nicely as well.
Chick....sorry that the cruise took too much steam, but glad you had some good times. With everything we do we learn something.
I think Perry is missing the point totally about being wanted or un-wanted. Hope he wises up before 2016, but then there are a few more that need to get lost in thought about the possibility of a 2016 run and hopefully they wake up too.

So nice to see you Chickadee. Sorry to hear your cruise experience was not as good as you had experienced before. Regressive - a word reserved for tumors and Republican tax plans! They both need to just go away.
RR - where do you live where all this rain is? Blue - keep your head above water. Does sound like very extreme weather. Is it the whole Northeast and what do you call this part of Canada??
-
so sorry chickadee - not a whine at all, IT IS HARD - and when it's hard, there's no such thing as whining.Good news about the regression - hope it's more good news to come. Infusion. Now there's a topic Hallmark doesn't have a card for - maybe we should design one. My thoughts on it aren't printable, tho.
Blue - rain, did someone say rain? Flash floods, daily here. In between tropical humid spots of sun, then the deluge. How come weeds grow in any weather, and my tomatoes are so, so sad...strange world.
-
-
((((Chickadee)))) Sorry for the tiredness but happy for boring!
All I can say about that dimwit Goodhair is what's underneath, not so much.
-
Chickadee, I'm sorry you hit up against reality, but glad you had the good moments that you did have.
Kam, I live in the Downriver suburbs of Detroit. We tend to get Ontario's weather just before they do. Up in the upper peninsula where we vacationed was a different story - sunny and dry, but not too hot - just perfect. Also I live on an island so there are times when I'm "locked in" even if my house is fine.
Blue, I don't remember Toronto ever being that flooded. I hope this stuff starts blowing off to sea.
Edited to add: Ontario's a big place. I should have specified a city so now I will. Amherstburg, we get Amherstburg's weather just before they do.
-
Here's a thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-
Jackie - that pic of the little boy is FABULOUS
-
Chickadee, I'm so happy to see you! I'm delighted to hear the "r" word with regression, but sad to hear of your fatigue on your cruise. Sometimes, though, just sitting and relaxing is what you really need.
Sorry to hear of everyone's rain troubles. We haven't been too terribly wet here in DC metro - no more than usual summer thunderstorm patterns. We were in Wisconsin last week and the temps were much cooler than normal for the first half of the week (utterly delightful) and much warmer than normal for the second half. People who don't believe in climate change are delusional. I guess the number and intensity of the severe storms that regularly destroy parts of this country is just happenstance ... Over and over and over again.
L -
Elephants in a thunder storm. Just so WOW! But maybe those experiencing monsoons won't appreciate!

-
Silly girls, don't you know this "abnormal" weather is god's punishment for electing (not once, but TWICE a Kenyan Muslim Socialist, Facist, Communist, atheist; AND thinking that women should control their bodies AND allowing gay people to get married and last, but not least wanting to allow minorities the right to vote, when you know damn well they are going to vote for the liberal left. That's the real reason!
-
Bartender, that sounds exactly RIGHT. Knew there had to be a simple explanation!

-
Bartender, yes, yes, and YES! He/She's punishing the rest of the world too!

For my learned (NOT) Friends!
Effects of Global Warming: Seasons and Ecosystems
Less abrupt changes would occur around the world as average temperatures increased. In temperate areas with four seasons, the growing season would be longer with more precipitation. This could be beneficial in many ways for these areas. However, less temperate parts of the world would likely see an increase in temperature and a sharp decrease in precipitation, causing long droughts and potentially creating deserts.
Because the Earth's climate is so complex, no one is really sure how much a change to one region's climate will affect other regions. For example, scientists at the University of Colorado theorize that the decrease in sea ice in the Arctic could reduce snowfall in Colorado because Arctic cold fronts would be less intense. This could impact everything from farmlands to the ski industry.
The most devastating effects, and also the hardest to predict, are the effects on the world's living ecosystems. Many ecosystems are very delicate, and the slightest change can kill off several species as well as any other species that depend on them. Most ecosystems are interconnected, so the chain reaction of effects could be immeasurable. The results could be something like a forest gradually dying off and turning to grassland or entire coral reefs dying. Many species of plants and animals would adapt or move to deal with the shift in climate, but many would become extinct.
Some ecosystems are already changing drastically due to a shift in climate. The University of Alberta reports that much of what once was tundra in northern Canada is turning into forests. They also noticed that the change from tundra to forest isn't linear; instead, it seems that the change happens in sudden spurts.
The human cost of global warming is hard to quantify. Thousands of lives per year could be lost as the elderly or ill suffer from heat stroke and other heat-related trauma. Poor and underdeveloped nations would suffer the worst effects, since they would not have the financial resources to deal with the problems that come with an increase in temperature. Huge numbers of people could die from starvation if a decrease in precipitation limits crop growth and from disease if coastal flooding leads to widespread water-borne illness.
The Carnegie Institution estimates that around $5 billion in crop losses per year are due to global warming. Farmers see a decrease of about 40 million metric tons of cereal grains like wheat, barley and corn each year. Scientists discovered that an increase of 1 degree Fahrenheit in average temperature results in a 3 to 5 percent drop in crop yields [Source: Science Daily].
P.S. My hooha is just fine.
