I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

Jackie, just got back from vacation and saw your TH post about Michigan. It is true, things are as bad as he says. BUT, people are paying attention. Our friends and family that have voted Republican for years, mostly out of habit, have noticed and they're not happy. One said to DH the other day, what the h*ll are the Republicans trying to do? They're ruining the state. And he's not the only one. Other Republican friends who are union members and have been voting against their interests on most things all because of the abortion issue are now fit to be tied and realize that there's more than one issue.

Happy Saturday all.

THINKING OF ATHENA - acupunture help at all? Hope the steamy weather isn't making your fur too warm...

Hi Everyone,
It's been a hot steamy day today. Glad I walked the dogs early and mowed a couple of fields before it got too hot. I don't mind the daily walks down in the fields with the dogs, but I swear, I am totally burned out on mowing. And with all the rain we've had the past few days, the grass is growing faster than I can keep up with it!
Tim just left and is on his way to Roanoke, and from there, somewhere in Michigan. Can't remember where exactly. At least he's on the move again. But it does get lonely here when he leaves. The dogs get depressed about it too.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.
hugs,
Bren

Can't wait to see Alexander - he was only 4 mths when we went to London - now 2 - Skyping just isn't the same as holding them.

While we were on vacation part of our town flooded. My mother had the key to our house and my sister kept after her wanting her to check our house to make sure the basement hadn't flooded. I told my mother I didn't want her to do that, there wasn't anything I'd want her to do about it anyway. Sister wanted her to check anyway so she could have us come home if it was flooded. I said we weren't going to come home early anyway so quit worrying. We lucked out - everything was fine when we got home. Today more torrential rain and the water is now part-way up my driveway...and I don't have a long driveway. The rain has stopped and if it stays stopped hopefully we'll slide through undamaged again. But the storm drain seems to be plugged, not blocked on top where we could do something about it, plugged down inside. I'm hoping that the heavy rain takes a break until we can get the city to attend to the drain, hopefully Monday. All of this just to illustrate why I'm not so thrilled to be now living in the tropics. I miss our old weather. Edited to add: Just as I hit "submit" DH called in to say it's raining again.

Hi y'all. On the fourth we went to Hoods Canal - blew up a bunch of fireworks (as did everyone else - a ton of fireworks blown in our little cove!!). We actually left before it was all over, as we got so tired. Went crabbing during the day (of the fourth) and tonight we ate some of the crab we harvested. Delicious!!! We also visited a nearby berry farm today, so for dessert had logan and marionberries.
As far as our house hunting/purchasing adventure goes - on Wednesday we had the inspection. The inspector said a new roof was necessary (including the sheeting) - as well as some other stuff (of course), so we asked for a credit for about 1/2 the cost of a new roof. We should hear back on Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, we spent today house hunting again (with the assumption they will turn down our request - in which case we won't purchase the house). Meanwhile the Hawaii condo puchase is progressing, so that may end up completing prior to a home purchase here in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
I took off Friday, and it's been grand to have a few days off - kind of a warm up for retirement.

Jackie, thank-you for the article about Michigan. It's depressing, of course, but necessary for us to be aware of some of the rotten things that are happening in our country.
River_Rat, hopefully your house makes it unscathed through any further rains.
Athena, I hope you are doing well.
Glenna - I'm so sorry you didn't have boring news. Here's hoping for boredom in your up coming tests.
I see the oncologist week after next, so am hoping for boring myself, as well.

What a day - I DO NOT ENJOY DOING PC SUPPORT!!!!
Sorry for shouting, but we went to Steve's new office and plugged in his laptop - had to install his new printer - all OK.
Later, I moved my old pc up to his home office - I had a new hard drive put in and had installed virus software and Office last week (which went surprisingly well). Well - that's when the sh%t hit the fan - his printer is so old the driver install didn't work - finally after an hour or so and trouble shooting Win7, it works and he isn't grateful enough - complained the speakers didn't work - I'd plugged them into the wrong hole - whatever - I'm over it. Just because I'm a computer programmer, doesn't mean I'm good with hardware etc, in fact I hate it!!!
Can't wait to get to work tomorrow to rest!!

Blue..the like button is lighting up.
GG..I live in Michigan for 7 years, back when Michigan ( Detroit/Dearborn ) was a fantastic place. It was painful reading for me too. I have such great memories of the Detroit river and skyline -- Cobo Hall and the stores. I had hoped that maybe a downtown renaissance might take place. Doesn't look so good for that now.
Well, hope keeps hanging around and I have yet to totally give up on anything...but there is some sadness.
Does sound like Obama haters/dissenters with anything he feels is positive are still in full force. I think the R party is deeply suffering for it all. T.Party may get smacked from both sides. Sigh !!!! Such stupidity.

Hi Everyone,
Another rainy day in paradise. The only good thing about all the rain is I can't mow the fields. Tim left quite unexpectedly yesterday and wasn't able to help me outside. It rained the whole time he was home.
Blue .. I'm with you .. if I wanted to live in the tropics, I'd still be in Hawaii. I worked outside for an hour today and that was all I could take of the humidity.
hugs to all,
Bren

In case it wasn't humid enough here today, I weeded a little section between the house and the garage which required much bending that my back does not like much. Then I used the pressure washer to clean up the patio stones there. It seems there is a knack to using that dratted thing that I haven't learned yet. The stones are slightly cleaner (not at all a good job) and I was drenched. That's enough home maintenance for many days to come.

Suzie - LOL at your post. I love programming, not that I've done a lot of it, but ask me get a driver, or troubleshoot our plotter, (hmm, excuse me, former plotter), I rail!
Solar panel for dumb ass machine.
Athena - miss you!!
GG - Sounds like you might have to move to Hawaii?

-
Kam - I'm just glad it's all over. Although now he's asking why I didn't get him a new monitor after I told him we'd be using the one I bought for his laptop and he agreed at the time - he never listens to anything I say. He said "I thought I would have 2 monitors". I said "Well I've only got one".
Time to get ready for work - hurray!!!

Food for thought:

-

Hope this was your Sunday.
(I know it wasn't yours Suzie and we have been decluttering our study)
-
C4C - your post reminds me of one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs "Blowin' in the Wind" - also adore Forever Young.
Humid, did someone say humid - as in moldy plants OUTSIDE - humid, and thunderboomers so bad they had to have a rain delay at Tanglewood Concert today - tornado warmings for us, but haven't seen any - light on western horizon - so it may be over for a while...
RAIN
