Thanks Alicia, I managed to play 9 holes of golf with my DSS, DS and DH on Sunday - with cart, but it really took its toll and I spend the day in bed yesterday! I'm finding that if I'm active, I pay for it the next day, but really my SE have been very manageable. The worst is the fatigue, but it's doable. My hair is thinning quite a bit with much more of my scalp showing than I'd like, but I still have hair! Four more to go, but this is my rest week and I like that!
How are you doing? Missed seeing you on here, but understand we all need a break from this once in awhile!
-
AL definitely tough stock and lung cancer without ever smoking. Now that really is unfair. Wishing them both well for August.
Arlene hoping all goes well for you. In your pocket.
Shari glad you managed to fit in some golf. Don't overdo it and make sure you rest this week.
-
Cocker, I spent yesterday pretty much in bed- but it was so worth it to live the memory!
-
Arlene: Big hugs from me
Meadow= I missed you
Alhusband= WOW WEE!!! Tough chicks.
SYL=hang in there.
-
Thank you Luv
Thank you Eileen I missed you too
-
Welcome back Meadow, you were missed! Hope you had a great break. :-)
-
Thank you, friends!
A litlle tired, bruised, swollen and a drain...my favorite-----NOT!
But hardly any pain. Bandages off friday, and hopefully nipples and breasts looking more "normal?" Docs, RNs, staff were Great. Home healing.
Thank you for the good wishes, thoughts and hugs!
Arlene

Arlene, I'm so happy to hear you're doing well! Get plenty of rest and take it easy for awhile. Prayers for a quick drain removal and continued healing! XOXOXO!!!

Shari - it's so wonderful to hear you got a round of golf in! I think it really helps to stay as active as possible during chemo. And yay for still having some hair too! I'm doing good, thanks for asking. I think I mentioned on this thread before that our friend has offered to carry our baby for us...well we're officially trying to get pregnant next month! I'm very hopeful, but also guarded, as we've been trying to start a family for many years with no luck and many detours. The whole thing actually feels pretty surreal since this time last year I was nearing the end of chemo and could barely function!
Arlene - great to hear your update and, heck yes, hope that evil drain comes out soon! Sending you gentle hugs.
Meadow - hi! I missed your post last time. Hope all is going well!
-
Alicia, what wonderful news about your friend and baby! That is just what I needed to hear, something so positive and wonderful! Keep us updated.
-
Allydp that is fantastic news. We tried for a baby for 7 years when we got married and nothing happened (they didn't have the same tests as they do now) so we adopted my eldest girl and when she was 9 months of age I found out I was two months pregnant. So two little ones together and never regretted it. They are really good friends and very close. Unfortunately I couldn't have any more but was quite happy with my two girls and love them both to bits and now have two grandsons and two granddaughters. Hope all goes well next month and you soon hold that baby in your arms.
Arlene hope you are feeling better today and the drains are coming out. I had two for my mastectomy and that was one of the sore points for me. Rest as much as you can. Hope your two girls look great when the bandages are off.
Carry on exercising and resting Shari. Not too much longer to go. In your pocket.
Meadow glad to see you back. Missed you.
-

Hi Meadow. No, no rain in NZ but very cold with heavy frosts in the mornings and beautiful days but have never liked being cold. I love spring and summer so can't wait for it to come.

Exciting news from Ally, too!
Shari, - glad that you got out to play golf!
You are all so amazing!
I love reading your posts, - and wish we could all meet one day!
-
I was just reflecting on what a great thing this forum is! I thought to myself, "Where else can you go and proudly announce that you have hemorrhoids or fat necrosis and have throngs of people applaud your announcement?" The answer is no where! What a place! What agreat group of people! Thank you all!
-
I agree AL!! Eileen, congrats on the hemmies!!! May I suggest Benefiber?! Haha!
-
Thanks for all the suggestions. I did not even know I had hemorrhoids. So, I will continue with my daily intake of prunes.
Yes.What a fantastic place to come and get info with the best group of people.
I would love to meet up with anybody anywhere from this board. If anyone comes to fl east coast. I happy to meet up.
-
Ally, how exciting about your baby news! I hope everything goes smoothly. You deserve it!
Eileen, so glad to hear that your colonoscopy didn't show cancer. I hope the party went well.
-
Thanks for all your support everyone!
Cocker - thanks for sharing that! I'm so glad you were able to become a mother to two beautiful girls!
Meadow - we've had quite a bit of rain up here in Michigan this year. No real hot days yet either, which is strange because we only had like one 90 degree day last summer too. But that's fine by me with these hot flashes these days lol.
G - glad to hear you got the pic line out!
Eileen - wohoo for hemorrhoids! Chemo gave me that gift too.
I agree this is a great group! And I'd love to meet up one day too!
-
Ally, Just checked back and found your mention of hoped-for baby. My wish for you is for this greatest blessing. Five of my 7 grandchildren were IVF babies and they are such a delight. My daughters endured a lot of procedures to make it happen, but so worth it. You will make a terrific mother. Jan
-
It has been quite a while since I last checked in. I am finally seeing an end in site with my treatments. I have 2 more rounds of Taxol and Carboplatin! Then I will be focused on recovery so I can set a date for reconstruction in September. I want to be back to work in October if at all possible. So here is my question how do I know the cancer is gone for sure? The MO said it was gone when I had my BMX in January and that the 20 weeks of treatment was just to be sure. What kind of follow up tests have some of you had? What should I be looking for? My cancer was found on a routine mammogram and was never felt by touch. While I am grateful it was found early I'm scared because I was feeling the best that I had in years even though this ugly cancer was growing inside me. Any info would be helpful before I see my MO next week.
Hugs to all,
Msmath
-
Msmath, congrats on being almost done with treatment!! Unfortunately for breast cancer survivors most doctor'sdon't do follow up scans or anything to see if it's gone, unless you have a concerning symptom. They say if you have anything that lasts over two weeks to contact your Onc. That doesn't necessarily mean something bad if you have an ache or pain for more than two weeks but two weeks is a general rule of thumb. Just focus on finishing treatment right now. Glad to hear from you! XOXO!
