Isn't it infuriating?! My DH cut down on Mt. Dew and has lost maybe 10 lbs without even trying.
Going out to lunch today with friends, we will walk there. I have given myself permission to splurge on their little individual pot pies with chunky homemade applesauce on the side. So good! And maybe not such a bad food choice (rationalizing here...).
-
When I asked my Dr. if I had lost since my last visit 9 weeks ago, she looked and said "Wow! Almost 11 pounds! You're doing good." I was surprised. I figure a pound or two could have been shoes, but still 8-9 lbs isn't bad in the same amount of weeks. This "diet" is becoming habit now. Good choices are at te front of my mind now.

Congrats Meece on the weight loss!. I am hanging in at 160 since I lost all that weight when I was having so much stomach problems. I just don't seem to be able to eat as much as I once did. I have also discovered if I want cookies I have them and not lunch and cookies which really makes a difference in maintaining my weight.
I would love to get on the weight loss train however when you are on an extreme budget because you have only one income as we currently do (I still haven't found a job), you eat lots of pasta, casseroles and hamburger. So I am happy to maintain for now.

A rare Albino Hummingbird.

What a beautiful hummingbird!!

It's a rare Ruby Throated. I saw a black squirrel in my yard. Around my area it is 1 in 10000.

Pretty little hummingbird!

Ladies, I know that part of my issues right now are due to depression, plain and simple. I can't take any meds - have had MAJOR SEs from trying - worse than the depression. Have tried mindfulness-based, cognitive-based, going to church-based approaches to find that "something" that feels better. I know that walking and yoga would be the best therapy for me, yet I find excuses: the weather, classes schedule during work or so late I am exhausted, "just don't feel like it" etc etc etc. So I am setting a goal of getting 3 additional points for exercise for myself for the next week. That's only 30 minutes on 3 days. Should be do-able!! I am aiming for this IN ADDITION to the regular activity associated with walking across campus and household chores (so total of 7-8 points for next Friday's check-in). And will work up from that, aiming for another summer of hiking.
-
Linda - you've taken a good approach to the coming week - that's positive and deserving of a point I think. You seem to have really analysed your situation and you've shared it with us and guess what?? I bet there were quite a few of us nodding and saying "I know what she means" as we read your post. Every week since Christmas I've tried to get back to sensible eating and exercise but like you I've been lining up the excuses!! So lets make this the week of no more excuses!!! Game ON !!

patoo, I squeeked by but we are neck-and-neck. I challenge you to pull back ahead next week!
((Linda)) sorry you're down, you've set a reasonable goal and I hope you make it! Walking and yoga are what I do - low impact and low cost - and they help my mood a lot. Here's a link to my favorite yoga DVD, the relaxation segment is fantastic and only 10 minutes.

Give me 2 weeks as I'll be in DisneyWorld next Friday so won't be checking in. However, I will let you know if I'm on track on Thursday and then take another week to pull ahead of you again. Walking around Disney should help widen the gap so you need to work hard to keep up.

A fortnight it is my friend!

Today was my birthday so I overate, had a rare soda and two slices of gluten-free chocolate cake (sugar, eggs and chocolate - decadent!) So I'm feeling rather bloated. I'll get back on the horse tomorrow.
I was down a bit earlier this week, but didn't weigh today. Wearing smaller jeans but they made me muffin-top pretty badly today. It's pretty disgusting, in a funny-sad way.

Roadrunner checking in 3 pts. Water intake 7, exercise 15 and weight down .5 for 1 pt. Total for week 26. Walked per pedometer 21 miles. Trying to catch up with Badger. Goal of 2,000 which would be nearly to Wisconsin...

hey samsue, good job! Let me know when you're about to get here, I'll put on the water for tea.
Happy Birthday, Elaine! That cake sounds oh-so-good.
patoo, good luck next week and have fun in the sun! My goal for two weeks out is 175.
Days are getting longer and that's good. Nice to not drive to work and home in the dark.
Just finished The Art of Racing in the Rain, a WONDERFUL book. Favorite quote:
"To live every day as if it had been stolen from death, that is how I would like to live."
-
deb: Love the beautiful bird.
Elaine, happy birthday!
badger, love the quote!
-
Thanks Badger, it just gives me a new incentive to be more active... a goal to achieve.... moving, walking and hopefully losing the weight (weight has been the hardest).
-
I finally bought a scale! It was my birthday gift to myself. The other choice was a heart monitor, to use while working out, but it was a bit on the expensive side. I figured a scale would be a good first step, so that I can keep track even when I don't make it to the gym on Friday. Heart monitor, next time I have money to spare, so to speak.
-
Happy belated birthday. You can splurge on your birthday, plenty of other days to eat like a bird!
-
hey Meece - NICE new pic!

Thank you
