I have no will-power or self discipline ......**head desk**!!

Ainm, it just took a holiday. It will be back.

I don't know about you girls, but I find winter a lot harder than spring - fall. Is there a connection to eating and the weather? I want to eat more, fattier, comforting, indulgent stuff in the winter. Is it some connection to survival instincts? Whatever, I find it a lot harder to manage my eating, and I don't feel like getting outside, either, which makes it harder to exercise. I took today off to make up for an extra long week last week, and the dogs kept expecting to go out. I disappointed them, I know, because I hermited all day. I feel OK if I can just keep from packing on too many pounds until the weather warms up and I get less depressed and do less hibernating.
-
Elaine, I agree it IS harder in the winter. Maybe it's fewer hours of sunlight in add'n to the cold?
I'm at a plateau weight-wise and can't eat less so will have to move more. Boy I just don't want to, though. Weekdays, I get up at 4:30 to get ready for work and do some yoga stretches while waiting for the teakettle, and don't see myself getting up any earlier for a.m. exercise. Then with my commute, I'm home around 5:30 and just want to veg out.
So I try to get in a walk during lunchtime and look forward to 1) the weekend and 2) Spring!
Have a good day sisters. ((hugs))

The fall/winter eating comfort food thing is actually biological. The changing length of the days triggers chemical changes that increase appetite, especially for carbs, and creates a tendancy to put on weight to have to live off during the lean winter months. It's the same type of chemical reaction that triggers dogs to grow in and then "blow out" their winter coat. Unfortunately, since it's so much easier to get food in the winter now we don't NEED to bulk up like bears for hibernation, but our bodies haven't figured that out yet!
-
The fruit selection is not as god too, wich makes a difference I think. All my favorites are expensive. I get tired of apples, oranges, and bananas.
-
bcincolorado, I agree. I miss not having the variety of fruit. I was good for the last 6 weeks and then today it all fell apart and I ate everything not good and didn't get any exercise in. So I'm going to bed early and remember tomorrow is another day to start anew.
Night friends.

thanks NM, nice to have verification from someone in the know. Hopefully, soon the lengthening days will trigger the shedding response in me but fat not hair LOL.
I like to play the games (that's why I have so many posts) but should limit my time on-line. This is a place where time just flies, and I need to find some extra time for a bit more exercise.
speaking of which.....
'night all

I try to keep up with walking everyday at work, I do 45 mins and I think it is .7 miles around the 2 buildings we walk around. I do that 3 times a day. I can't wait until I get off Arimidex in July it really has been giving me SE this last 2 1/2 years, the first 2 1/2 years was not bad but now I am getting sick and tired of getting out of my bed or a chair and walking like a 89 yo lady for a few minutes. Then I start loosening up. I still have muscle and joint pain when I walking but I think happy thoughts. LOL
-
Caught up on reading, but must go pedal my bike before shower time...
-
I admire those who can walk at work - my schedule is usually too tight. I do try to take the opportunity to go up and down a flight of stairs whenever possible, but that's about it. Of course, some days it's climbing up and down ladders, and hauling around artwork, and walking 5 miles carrying artwork, and hammering and lifting. So I do some exercise at work. I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, but I finally succumbed to the dogs' pleading eyes and took them on a nice long walk to the school and a romp there and then a walk back. Left Sparkle at home, and she was so mad at me, but I didn't think she could last, and then I would have to carry her. It was freezing cold with a wind, too, so I didn't think that would be good for her. She's getting around pretty well, but too soon for a long walk. I let her roam around off lead in the front yard (a special treat) as her exercise. Froze my butt off waiting for her. I really don't like cold weather.
Thanks for the info, NM - I figured it was something like that.

Wow! Everyone is doing so well - a lot of you making 20+ pts! I'm proud of you! Not so proud of myself - I've had a busy couple of weeks. I'll get back in the groove soon, I promise!
-
I catually saw a number on the scale yesterday which did not have any 7s in it. I am not counting on it, but it was great to see.
-
congrats Meece, that's great! Would love to join you there - someday - but for now am focused on staying in the 7's as 8 was a hard barrier to cross (and I'm still pretty close).
I did succumb to a cookie yesterday and the world didn't come to an end. TG I was able to stop at one. But only because there were maybe a dozen left and I figured DH wouldn't miss just one...
Today I realized that I was engaging in deceptive, sneaky, addict behavior. Gotta work on that.
((hugs)) to all
-
I succombed to several cookies yesterday. We were at a meeting at someone's home and they had a gorgeous plate of a variety of cookies. If it had been just one variety, I would have stopped at one, but had to try a small one first, then biscoti, then a different one. Bad girl!
On another thread a girl posted the recipe for 3-2-1 cakes. I can make them in a minute, one serving size, and just 105 calories. It cuts that desire for sweets and since you make only one at a time, there aren't leftovers sitting on the plate begging to be eaten.
-
Roadrunner checking in really late so no Friday points. Water at 7pts and exercise 16. I walked a total of 21 mi so far this week so I'm counting that as extra credit for keeping tab. Weight was up .5 - go figure??? I can't.
Total for the week 24
-
Samsue, better late than never! Glad to see you. You can always attribute the 0.5 lb to water - weight varies a LOT during the day - several pounds - depending on how much water you take in and when it leaves....
-
Linda, thanks for the encouragement... I keep trying to lose the same few pounds and all the time at the gym doesn't seem to be doing much. Already cut back on calories, so will try to fill up more on veggies that don't have many and are filling.
Happy Valentines Day to all!
-
I am having my annual physical this morning. It will be interesting to see if my weight has changed on the dr's record.
DH just keeps dropping, but I had a bad day yesterday and splurged on a sugar laden Coke.
