Happy Thanksgiving to each of you. Thank you God, that there is nothing too difficult for you.
-
I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
-
Late, but none the less true!
" -
Yay! My favorite time of year can now officially commence.. Bring on the carols! Bring on the nativities! Bring on Christmas programs at churches & private schools. If you were nuts enough to do Black Friday shopping, bring on the Ben-Gay!
Blessings to each of you!
-
Will you be working at H&D this year, Eph?
-
Today is officially the start of the season for me.Its a great day to shop. Not many in the stores and still alot of selection.Today is also cyber Monday so now we can let our fingers do the shopping.
-
No, I was going to do the H&D thing, had my badge & parking permit even. My regular boss really didn't want me to do it (said I was too tired last year) so he's giving me 4 extra hours a week which works out to be about 2.5-3 days worth of pay @ H&D. It'll be better, I won't be so tired-last year I never even decorated for Christmas other than a tree; my house usually is decked out!
-
I remember we didn't hear from you much during the holiday season last year. So glad you are able to arrange things which will allow you to enjoy the season,
While the kids were at the exes' on Saturday, DH and I pushed to decorate the house so when they returned, the house would be totally Christmas. We did it! We had a Christmas with them that evening. DH was thrilled that we did in a half a day, what usually takes me two weekends to complete. (He's never helped me like this before though.)
-
Meece, did you wrap all the posts again with ribbon? Wasn't that your house last year with the bows and ribbons on trees, too??
Joni, what is H&D?
-
barbe, H&D=Harry & David a mail-order fruit & goodie company. Last year I worked the in-coming phone lines for the season. You might remember I had just broken the good old shoulder & medical bills were freaking me out, so I thought I'd supplement the income. The only one who isn't happy about me NOT working it this year is DD. I think she liked having the house to herself in the evenings last year. Oh well, too bad, so sad!
-
I remember you working, but didn't know what company, though I knew it was seasonal. Thought maybe you worked for Santa....
-
Well, I'm glad I'm not doing it again! I just wish the almighty $ wasn't so important for EVERYTHING!
-
LOVE, the BEST thing of all, is FREE!!!
-
Not to make you look shallow, Joni.......hehehehhee
-
Yep, that was my house. The bows are in the tree, the pilars are wrapped in greenery, and I just have a bit more greenery to put up, but I get home after dark and the windows are very cold so I will wait until Saturday to complete it. I want to bake this weekend again. Sent most of what we baked (and didn't eat) home with the kids.
-
Last year I wasn't working and had more time and less money. It kind of eases things since we have already exchanged gifts with 40% of my offspring! (DS, DIL and DGS). Now I can focus on the rest.
-
Matt has been offered a 1 bedroom condo by a friend of mine. He will be moving out next week most likely. We will be empty nesters once more. He and his GF made dinner for us last night. It was a sweet gesture. She brought the fixins and they cooked. She asked for instructions from me, but that was fine, I would demonstrate then back off. I really enjoy her.
-
Sounds like a great meal Meece. My DIL asks me stuff too and I do tell her, but sometimes I know she's just being nice!
-
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh empty nest! I like the sound of that, although the closer it gets to that reality, the less I think I'll like beyond the 1st 6 months or so (JOKE)
-
I made a deal when DS3 moved out, that he come back regularly for dinner. So, I see him and his fiance just about every week. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but it is enough to not miss having someone else actually living under your roof.
-
Just reading through the thread and smiling, Joni, I too am doing temporary holiday shifts, I am working inbound for a famous steak place
here in Omaha, wish I wasn't but thats what I have to do for now...I just finished 3 twelve hour shifts @ the hospital to reinstate my nursing license and have 3 more to go. I was so nervous about giving shots etc. but I guess I did it for so many years that missing the last 5 didn't make me incompetent after all! I loved it, but 12 is alot for me and I am so tired today I can hardly move. Pray that I make it through the holidays without pooping out LOL. I decorated early so don't have that on my list too! Glad to see everyone is doing okay and Meece, I am so happy that you have seen your family, and Barbe I am glad that you were able to spend time with your GS too!God Bless all the ladies in the Garden.

Linda, so good to hear from you and to know you are moving forward. I realize how much that can take out of you, but you can be pleased that you are coming through this.
-
hi gals, just cking by, to see how everyones' doing.. i assume its' quiet, because everyone is busy with their holidays chores... good to hear you're all doing well........3jays
-
I usually don't spend much time online on the weekends. Went to my parents after church yesterday and helped them put up their Christmas decorations. I also finished the decorations on the outside of my house. I wanted to bake some this weekend but we went out of town with a friend Saturday. Perhaps this evening.
-
Hi all,
Monday night-chilly-but God is good! Slowly but surely getting the house decorated~much better than last year when just a few things got put out due to work schedule!
Can you believe it's the 5th of December? Holy cow!
-
well, i'm gonna ask you faithful ladies to pray for me, and my family.. we've had quite a time , already, for the season.. long story short, i won't be seeing the grands much at all this year. maybe christmas morning, but thats' not a for sure: it'll be on the whim of my son.. he's very angry that i am so sick right now, and its incoveient to them.. i just have to cast my cares on HIm right now.. its tough, during this season, but last year gave me an inkling.. i won't fight so much to see them this year.. i nearly went MAD last year.. i believe only HE can make a change, both in my heart, and my sons...3jays
-
Yes, 3jays. You will be in my prayers.
-
3jays, you must release the grip you are trying to hold!! Let God take over, sweetie, you've held on long enough! I TOTALLY understand, you know I do....
Hugs and prayers to you, mon cherie!
-
thanks, ladies, releasing has commenced. its just not worth all the worrying anymore.. and barbe, i do know that you know. i hope you have some blessinga thru this season. also...
-
Hello Ladies, I haven't been on here much, super busy with work and the holidays. I am so glad everyone seems to be doing well. 3Jays, I will be praying for you. Linda I was so happy to see your post and was wondering how you were doing. I wanted to let you all know that I LOVE my new job,it was worth the long wait, and God's timing is perfect. I'm in my seventh week there. I was being trained by someone my son's age. She is an absolute doll, but my goodness when did I become one of the more "mature" people at a job?

Had me chuckling! Anyway wishing everyone a wonderful day tomorrow! Hugs to all!
