Baby it's cold outside

The cool front finally came in, this morning temp was 68, called for 88 this afternoon breaking the string of 90+ days. Weather man said that the string lasted 18 days, beating the record of 11 days.

Oh my, we were at a low of 48 this morning and we're up to 63 at noon. We are supposed to be around 90 all weekend though.
Meece, I kind of wondered about that too. It would make sense. It's hard to see Phil so sick but glad to see the boys with him. Does it bother your DH to see how sick Phil is or he doesn't like it cause DC has stretched this out? My DH has not been watching either - I think the illness - end of life process bothers him since he's lost both parents and dealt with my illness in the last three years.
-
Suz, I think my DH is in the same boat with yours. I let him come to my last chemo, he insisted he wanted to see what I had gone through. I wasn't great company for him since they doped me up with Benedryl. He's not a real hospital guy, and since we've been married I have had 4 surgeries. But I must say, he's been there, unlike EDH who would leave me at the hospital and might be the one who came to pick me up. In fact there were times he didn't even take me, I had to find other transprtation. He also refused to visit our baby in the hospital for 10 days. So, I am really happy with the new model I am married to.
-
Suz, seeing next week's previews made it look like he could really pull through! Did you notice Sig cruching the box of cigarettes and throwing them?
-
Not a clue what you two are talking about! But...cold, windy and chilly here. Hubby is splitting firewood so we can have a huge bonfire this weekend. Hopefully we won't burn our forest down!
-
Sorry Smith - we're talking about the show Deadliest Catch. We're both avid watchers. Now that's some dang COLD fishing! Meece, I was most fortunate to marry the man of my dreams when I was 19 years old (we've been married almost 31 years) - it seems so rare to experience such a wonderful marriage especially when we were that young when we decided - LOTS of hard work though.
I hope it warms up soon for you Smith, are chilly summers normal for you? We're finally up in the 50s this morning at 9:30. Had my heater blasting in the car this morning. Then I think I mentioned we'll be in the upper 80s and low 90s (with heat index around 100) this weekend. I wanted to have a bonfire on July 4th but I believe it may be too hot!
Sheila - has the weather stayed cool for you or are you back in the 90s?
-
Weather here is still highs in the 80's with low humidity. Right now there is some cloud cover, yesterday Charlotte had about an inch of rain but we didn't get any rain. Weather should stay cooler here through the weekend. I think they are calling for low 90's on the fourth.

Well finally we are having a cool period--only getting to the upper 80's as it is raining lots and lots. Due to severe drought conditions in the past years, it really can't rain enough. Supposed to be wet for the 4th weekend. Two of my sons moved in with us for a real short period of time and are moving out over the weekend--we will be glad to have our home back and hope it doesn't rain while we help them move.
Suz--Joint Commission here this week. I've remained behind closed doors everyday. So far, so good. But these days, one never knows.
-
Suz, I live along the north coast in California. If we get a hot day, that's not normal! Winter is usually cold and rainy with touches of fog, which breaks up the rain! Spring is more rain and fog, followed by summer breezes and cool temps. When it's hot inland, it brings the fog to us. You get the picture....cold, rain, fog, breezy. Once in a while we get high winds that can bring trees down, especially after a heavy rain. And I mean heavy rains! We may get a few warmish days during the summer and fall, but not many. Tourists from the hot areas come here to cool down and love it. It's taken a lot of adjustment to live in this weather. When I go to the Bay Area now, I melt, and I grew up in the hot weather.
And that's our weather report for this Thursday, July 1st! Now back to bathroom scrubbing....yuck!
-
Smith - I admire you for living in a cool climate. I dread winter and get chilled if it's under 75 degrees (unless I am having one of the lovely hot flashes that have come my way since I began Femara)! Oh, And, I was born and raised in Michigan so I should be used to the cold.
Mary, my deepest sympathies for you at work! Nothing strikes fear in me more than hearing the words Joint Commission/JCHO or for those in health plans - NCQA or that the state is there to inspect. I'm so glad I don't work any place now that has onsite surveys. Have a nice weekend, glad you'll get the house to yourself again, don't think I'll have that luxury for a few years yet.
-
Suz, I was married at 19 as well, and gave it the best try I could, 22 years. DH and I celebrate 5 years next month.
-
Meece, That's what happened to my mom, she was married at 19 and my dad was 20 and my mom gave it her best but they divorced after 21 years. Now they've both been remarried to their current spouses for over 20 years. Ya just never know.
I'm going to have to water the flowers tomorrow. No rain since Monday and none coming in the near future. One more cold night tonight and then the warmth returns.
-
I had to go water to make up for the dehydration that goes on between morning watering and me getting home from work.
-
Well, I guess some areas are going to have an extremely hot week. It's going to be hot here, but it is not expected to reach 100 in the next 10 days. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee. Stay cool, Ladies.
-
Baby it's Hot outside and I'm so weird - I love it. I froze all winter so I am going to enjoy these 90+ degree days. I gave the flowers a good soaking and will hope they don't wilt too much. Hope you all had a terrific 4th.
-
We are expecting temps back into the 90's today with a red ozone action alert. That is next to the highest alert for poor air quality. Be careful with extended outdoors activities, check on neighbors without ac.

Our area has "fan drives" to colect fans for people who don't have AC. DH and I thought we would try to conserve energy and bought an AC unit for our bedroom window so we could turn the house AC off at night.. He installed it last night, but it kept tripping the breaker! Just another stupid problem with a house that is only 4 years old. We hate the builders of this house, although we love the house in general. The builder we just a jerk.
-
That is awful, definitely shouldn't happen on a 4 year old house. I hope your DH can get the AC going in your room today.
We put in a geothermal system when we built our house 11 years ago and it's been wonderful. The electric bills are so low and the only gas we use is for our gas fireplace. We do need a fan in our room though because we're on the second floor and the air just doesn't cool very well in our bedroom.
-
Still hot today, not much cooling at night. We have window AC units in my house, one in the LR and one in my son's bedroom. We replaced all the ceiling fans in the house to help circulate the air around. If it cools under 70 I will open the window in the bedroom and put a small window fan in it to pull the cool air into the bedroom. This past weekend, my husband got hot with his head at the 'head' end of the bed up against the wall so he flipped so his head was even with the open window and under the ceiling fan.
Sheila
-
That's an option, Sheila.
DH and I went and bought a 20 amp breaker at lunch today. We will cross our fingers that it solves the problem. It's in the low nineties and mild today.
-
We had a gorgeous week and a beautiful July 4th. It was in the low 80's until Tuesday. Now we're back to foggy cool days and cold nights. UGH!
-
We were cool over the weekend but temps again back in the 90's close to 100. Tomorrow should cool down some with a 50% chance of showers through Saturday.
Sheila
-
They changed the guess of the weather and now we are supposed to see 100+ this week. I would rather have been in ignorant bliss.
-
We had sooo much rain - it rained the whole 4th of July long weekend. It became sunny again yesterday and today. I'm just now seeing lakes get back to a level they have not been in 8 years. It is hot. We will be in San Antonio next week for about 4 days. Looks like it will hot, but not much rain while we are there. I love the Riverwalk, it is always cool along the way.
-
I've been to Riverwalk a couple times. It's pretty fun. I went the weekend after Christmes once and the Christmas lights were absolutely beautiful at night.
-
They always have some lights hanging at night and it is beautiful. I love the food at the restaurants. It is just like nowhere else. The botanical gardens there are amazing also.
-
We've cooled down considerably. Supposed to be in the low to mid 80s for the next week! Yippee - perfect weather as far as I'm concerned.
Mary, have fun in San Antonio - I've never been there but three of my kids went there when they marched with the Michigan State Marching Band and I sent my husband to watch them (and the alamo bowl of course) as a gift to him. They all had a ball and loved the riverwalk. I'll be thinking of you and the fun time you'll be having.
-
It's been foggy and cool all week. We even had a fire in the fireplace. I feel bad for the tourists that come to the beach to enjoy the sunshine...that was last week!
-
I feel bad for you Smith! Our summer last year was miserably cold - I missed it anyway because of chemo and chemo fog but I do remember being cold most of the summer!
-
I lived in the Bay Area when I went through chemo. 100+ temps so I stayed in the house with the AC on. I remember my sense of smell was so heightened and the AC had a weird chemically odor. The evenings were warm so I'd go outside for "fresh air" and to talk with neighbors.
