Ruth, I love the picture of your Zumba class!

Walked 45 minutes this afternoon. The Y was too busy for a slow poke like me to be jogging.

6 mile bike ride followed by Chinese buffet. Need to reverse that in future to justify being a glutton! Maybe make it to pool tomorrow after church if weather holds up.

Claire. . .I love REI and had heard that they were promoting outdoor activities yesterday. Way to go.

Annie. . .2.5 miles sounds really good.

Jersey. . . Best wishes for surgery tomorrow.

I'm on the last night of my vacay. Had fun at the amusement park yesterday (13yo ds in pix) and at the Okefenokee Swamp today. I'm still exhausted though. Did not sleep well the past few days due to back pain (L4/L5). 12/7 and lumbar epi can't come soon enough and then hopefully I will be on the mend.

Scottiemom, I love those pictures, particularly the one with the person dressed as a Christmas tree and the Elfin Bureau of Investigation. It looks like your DS had a good time!

Jersey best wishes for tomorrow. Claire I love that those stores all closed for Thanksgiving, I really dislike them ruining the day for families and I'll bet the CEOs all had the day off. Ruth love the Zumba picture. Scottie your DS is adorable. Patoo if you ate immediately after the exercise your metabolism is still working

Yesterday did RPM class and today did the unthinkable, actually slept in till 7.45am so no gym but I will clean the garage (which looks like a room on a hoarders episode) then will decorate the living room, on Friday I came home to find my across the street neighbor had hung my outside Christmas lights, gosh I love my neighbors.

Scottiemom- Cute pictures of your son, it looks like he had fun. You must have really enjoyed your vacation. We were off this week too, but I have been recuperating. We have enjoyed not being on a schedule, just relaxing.

HBCheryl- Cleaning a garage is plenty of exercise.

As an ex-retail employee I agree w/ closing stores on holidays. The holidays are hectic and stressful for everyone. It is important to remember the reason for the holiday, family and friends

hbcheryl, I kinda knew that but don't want to embrace it because I can certainly abuse it!

For some reason was up at 5:15 this morning so just went to church and now sleepy so heading over to relax at the pool (may even get in and exercise some!)

Back home and at the gym. While I love my mini vacays on holiday weekends, there is no place like home and I can really only sleep well in my bed. Back to work tomorrow and looking forward to a normal schedule this month.

Got over to the pool but just sat out and relaxed talking with a neighbor. Then the sun kept going in another direction and only clouds and windy over the pool so got into the pool and ran for about 15 minutes and came home.

    Fun pictures, Scottie!

    Thinking of you tomorrow, Jersey.

Walked on the treadmill for awhile & did a 45 minute "Shrink Your Fat Zones" DVD. It is supposed to snow tomorrow, so the nice-weather-party may be coming to an end around here.

I caved and did a RUN today wearing my ski parka. Was much warmer than I was cycling, although you did want the sunny (and not icy) side of the street. I can feel all the exercise. Just spent the money I saved on not needing new contact lenses on a bag for lugging my computer etc. around. Went high end vintage, so should last quite some time (once I shine it up). I am still looking for a new wallet.

I think I will tackle the pot roast I bought yesterday. I went into the market for the wonderful steaks they have, but somehow walked out with pot roast. I get to use up the Guinness leftover from St Pat's Day. Will have tomorrow as have Thanksgiving leftovers for tonight.

Will be extremely tasty tomorrow night....yum!!! This should get me revved up for the months to come....and I am going to need all the revving I can get. - Claire

1 hour water aerobics this morning. Maybe bike ride later. Have to start doing some, other than exercise, activities. Find since I have so much time being retired that I have to keep busy in order not to sit around feeding my mouth.

Sounds like everyone who celebrated had a great Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed our week of being "unplugged" at the cabin. We had PERFECT weather except for the last day, which made leaving just a bit easier. We ran or hiked every day, including a Turkey Trot 5K bright and early on Thanksgiving morning. We washed all the cabin windows, inside and out, twenty-seven windows in all - most of them ceiling to floor. We also split some firewood so we should have enough for the wood stove for the rest of winter. Here was the view of the sunset view from our cabin Thanksgiving evening. We had sunrises and sunsets almost every day like that!

Got back on track this morning with a Power90 Sculpt DVD (weights, lunges, and squats).

    Mary, Your cabin sounds wonderful!

Ruth, I would love to have a little snow this time of year- sure would make me feel more like Christmas shopping! When it is 85 degrees and only trees we hsve to decorate are Palm trees, it does not feel much like Christmas. However, the reason for the season is what is important!

Walked for 45 minutes at the Y tonight. Did not do the running thing since I had very little sleep last night. Did pass a guy who was like a foot and half taller than me walking around the track. I'm sure he's rehabbing something, but still it's nice not always be the slowest person there. My legs are so short, even when I'm really cooking, people lap me.

I got my steps in today, but feeling right now that i could really use a walk to de-stress...but its 10:35...too late to walk outside (besides it a tad bit chilly outside 21F....so do I walk around the house....have a glass of wine or just get into bed!!!

Weather is supposed to start warming back up into the 40's and 50's so the snow will melt and make walking a little easier, that is until the next snow!

I am going to say it again - I so admire all of you who, live in cold climates and forge on and workout, it was 50 degrees here tonight and it was so hard to head out to the gym, like I said to my carpool buddy if I lived back east I'd be at home in my Jammie's watching the exercise channel, notice I said watching not doing .... I know myself

Cubbie you and I can be a team, I have short legs I'm always last in any race but I plod along. Mary gorgeous photo. Kathy I have avoided the scale, I accidentally knocked it and it turned on and I quickly turned away.

Tonight went to Zumba, and once again mixed in with the dancinghe threw in 4 sets of 50 squats and a 2 minute plank.

Mary, beautiful picture! Will have to look up Power 90.

I've been in a bit of rut in that I've never had so many rest days since I got on the exercise bandwagon 8 years ago. I suppose being on planes and airports, having jet lag and having too much work (urgent translation job) had something to do with it. I will get myself moving more now. Zumba tonight.

Cardio Sculpt this morning and Barre tonight. I also did about 45 minutes of Shovel & Sculpt. We had about 6 inches of heavy wet snow which is now blowing around & sticking to the roads as well. Patoo, you are going to have to think of something very vigorous to do to replace snow shoveling because it is sure A LOT of work!

ruthbru, yes, I will work on finding an alternative. As I remember I used to post about it but shovelling was not my problem, matter-of-fact I enjoyed doing it. My problem was the cold basically but more than that the ice. I was an absolute danger to myself and everyone else on the roads when I had to drive in it. I didn't want to retire and then be confined to home during the winter months when the roads were not clear down to the blacktop. Wimpy I know but it was not fun.

Oh forgot, did a little under 8 miles on my bike this morning. That's definitely not equivalent to shovelling. Hair appt tomorrow so if I get home early enough will try and make it to the pool for a workout.

Lovely sunset Mary. . .we have already decided that we will stay at the Okefenokee cabin next Thanksgiving so can photograph the sunrise and sunset. Of course I have to get over the poison ivy/oak that hitched a ride home on my arm. Only I could get it through my longsleeved shirt. Uggg

At the gym determined to run up my steps since I have to take off a couple of days next week for lumbar epi and can't let my work Fitbit group get a March on me.

I don't like the cold anymore nor do I like the snowy and icey sidewalks that people don't shovel, but I do prefer walking outside. There is something about the fresh air that is therapeutic for me. I'm almost at 15K for the day, but will walk after dinner....If helps so much with my stress and anxiety...

Pretty sunset Mary. Patoo, I agree with you on the snow and ice.

Getting back on track after the holiday. Ran a 5k turkey trot Thanksgiving morning and spent the weekend cleaning and decorating. Plus lots of laundry. Went to bootcamp last night and took today as a rest day.

Patoo, I blocked myself off the sub list today just because I didn't want to drive on the snowy/slippery streets with all the other early morning not-used-to-winter-driving people!

Got the Y and realized I forgot my gym bag, and had to drive back home for it. So I only got in 25 minutes of walking. They moved all the ellipticals and exercise bikes downstairs as part of the remodeling, and it is so empty up there now.

I'm sure there must be some kind of snow shoveling simulator we could design...
