March came in like a lion here, too. Snow, sleet & wind. Still got over to the Capitol to walk at noon.
Logging 7,150 steps/3.5 miles for the day.
-
Cheryl: oh my! Hoping you can find more of the chocolate covered s'mores.
Karen: if you do get a box of the Smore's that are like a sandwich please let me know how they taste. We don't sell that type here and I wonder if they are as good as the ones we have.
March came roaring in like a lion here also. This evening we had pouring rain hail, and lots of wind. Luckily I got my walk/run in earlier in the day.
-
Still having fun on the beach. Here's some new friends I made on this morning's walk.
-
Beautiful bright sunny day here so in like a lamb for us. Body Pump class for me tonight.
-
In like a lamb in Central California also....makes walking a pleasure!
-
Wonder - I had an appt after work today and a girl scout was selling cookies...I didn't have time to stop on my way in but I asked her to hold a box of S'mores for me and she did. It was so sweet of her. The woman with her said they could have sold it many times over!! They are the sandwich kind. My son said they were good. I haven't eaten any girl scout cookies yet...Put out 3 boxes for my son and now the S'mores. Keeping 3 boxes for DD when she gets home. This is the least amount of cookies I bought since my big kids were toddlers and pre-schoolers!! As I think I mentioned before, I had 5 boxes left from last year in December!! Gave 3 to DD and kept 2 for part of this years supply.
Couldn't make myself walk this morning...got up late (6am) and moved slowly....walked when I got home as it was still light out....but couldn't make myself walk after dinner...so did some pacing in the house...I'm short on steps for the day....May pace while watching the news. After the wonderful weather in San Antonio last week, its been hard to walk in the cold 20's! But its supposed to warm up over the next few days.
Booked my DD and SIL's tickets to come for Passover...they will be here 10 days....DS is not thrilled that they will be here that long as he has to share his bathroom with them. I haven't seen my DD and SIL since last summer. My DH went to them in October instead of them coming here.
11 years ago today, also a Wednesday, I had my bilateral mastectomy. Thinking back on how much my life has changed. Some good and some not so good. Yesterday a friend posted on fb a letter to woman having a mastectomy from an OR nurse. It was very touching. IfI find it again I'll try to post it here.
Sweet dreams

You girls are so encouraging! I have been slow moving this week. I am 3 weeks post LX and xome days I am just blah. I can't decide if it's that I'm tired or just down. I have always hit the floor running in the mornings and now I just kind of ease into my day. I am actually watching tv which before BC the tv was never turned on until the grandkids came over or DH got home. Got an appointment for genetic testing this morning. Still waiting on the final test results to determine my treatment route.
Love all the pictures! Have a beautiful day ladies. It's a windy mess here in NC.
-
Varga, Wonderland is from NC, and I have a sister in the Raleigh area! Another beach walk this morning, now off to do tourist things. We fly home tomorrow afternoon.....back to 'real' shoes, stocking, jackets, mittens...boo hoo!
-
Workout tonight for 30 minutes planned
-
Elliptical/bike/treadmill run.
-
Cold again. Back to treadmill again. Look forward to retirement someday, so like you, Ruth, I can send home photos of the beautiful beachy weather
-
Got very cold here too. Temperatures were in the 40's, so not too bad, but the winds were terrible. Road the stationery bike for 9 miles today, trying to get back in theswing of things
-
45 minutes body sculpt and 30 minutes treadmill (about 14 minutes running)
Cheryl - i really miss body pump. Body sculpt is the closest thing we have now and it's just not the same.
Our Girl Scout s'mores were the sandwich kind and I didn't really care for them, although it didn't stop me from eating them 🍪🍪🍪😇
My all time fave is the Samoa, wonderfully chewy goodness that I've been known to eat until I'm sick to my stomach 😋

((Vargadoll)) it's OK to give yourself a rest. A mental trick that worked for me was to say I'll walk for 5 minutes. If I made five, then I tried ten. By ten mins, the endorphins had usually kicked in. Another tip for those who walk/jog/wog is to start at 100 miles and count down. If I could only do a quarter of a mile, it was way more motivating to see 99.75 than .25! Once I counted down to zero, I started counting up from 100.
Walked the Capitol at lunch break, and several of us ventured out for pm coffee run. It's kind of cold but the sun was nice. Also made a point of walking around for 5 mins every hour. Logging 14,067 steps or 6.7 miles for the day. Had the last of Sunday's lasagna for supper mmmmm.
-
Varga....take care of yourself....many of us here are several years out of treatment. When I was going through chemo, the day of chemo and the next couple I couldn't walk, Some days it was to the corner and back, maybe 5 minutes. Be gentle on yourself and remember you've been through a lot, physically and emotionally.
It was so cold walking this morning, but warmed up to the 40's and sun this afternoon. Warming up for the next few days
Ruth, I know how you feel....loved wearing sandals last week in San Antonio...Oh well, I'll be complaining about the heat this summer.
Not that I'm counting, but spring break is in 3 weeks!!
-
It is so cold and windy here. I did 20 min on the dreadmill followed by a water fitness class.
Karen- I would be interested in that letter if you are able to find and post it.
Had my annual checkup with the breast surgeon and all is good. Coming up on 6 years for me.
-
Varga: (((Hugs)))
Ginger: congratulations!!!
Karen: good thinking to ask the Girl Scout to hold that box of cookies!
Sweet: I would like to try the sandwich type S'mores to compare them to the type we have. I had to quit buying Lemonades bc I would eat way too many at one time!
Met my sisters at a mall today and did lots of walking. When I came home I went the park to walk/run.
Tomorrow is dd's birthday - 26 years old. It's also Ruth's birthday. Happy Early Birthday Ruth!
-
Thank you! I think it's the waiting that is getting me in this funky mood. Physically I'm doing amazing. Emotionally I'm a wreck on the inode but hide it well. If I could come here I don't know what I would do.
-
Happy Birthday Ruth
!! Vargadoll, glad you are with us and waiting is the pits - hang in there. Off to London early tomorrow morning for 2 days back on course and staying with my friend - that makes it a bit cheaper. Got called in to substitute/cover a body balance/flow class this afternoon and in the front row was a known Pilates teacher here in the area. We had a chance to talk afterwards and she offered that the class was expertly delivered; happy to hear that as the instructor I covered is a body pump UK national presenter-whew. Have a good weekend Everyone!
-
Not getting a lot of exercise in, we are car shopping and I find salespeople exhausting (and sometimes sleazy). So many options! Not sleeping well either, think it's arthritis acting up. Turned cold here too, fickle March. Saw Midsummer Nights Dream last night by a local theater company - staged it as an 80's prom - what a hoot! Really enjoyed it.
-
Happy birthday 🎂🎈🎂
Everyone have a great weekend
-
Happy Birthday, Ruth!
Pat-I am going to see that show at Trinity Rep with my friend on Sunday. Glad to hear you liked it. DD saw it and thought we would like it because we both graduated from a Catholic high school in 1981. She thought we would get a kick out of it.
-
Thanks for the birthday wishes! I celebrated by spending the day in airports and airplanes (with no glitches at all, now that is a REAL present!), walked in the door at 10 pm and have been getting reorganized ever since. I am scared to get on the scale tomorrow....
-
Happy Belated Birthday Ruth!!!!!!
Planning my usual workout a little later today
-
Happy Birthday Ruth!
Ok girls! This morning I decided to just get on the treadmill instead of doing the housework first thing. I did 6 miles! I surprised myself. Now my goal is to hit the treadmill a couple of times this coming week and work my way up to everyday. I am starting slow because I do not have my treatment plan yet. I am pretty certain that it will be radiation for 4-6 weeks. Not sure how that will affect me so smallreachable goals!
HAPPY SATURDAY!
-
Very happily went to yoga this morning.
-
Attawoman Vargadoll! Namaste Ruth and belated Happy Birthday!
Walked yesterday at the Capitol. Logging 7,630 steps or 3.6 miles.
Sunny and cold but it's the nicest of days because the robins are back!
At least a dozen showed up in the neighborhood this morning. Spring is officially here.
-
Good job Varga, don't beat yourself up as there will be days when you don't feel like doing anything but laying the foundation is the best thing you can do for yourself. Wonderland wish your DD a very Happy Birthday and Ruth glad the "on time" flight fairy was with you for your journey home. Sweet, Pump is not my favourite but strength training is something I know we must do as we get older and the old use it or lose it really does apply, if I take a couple of weeks off I really feel it when I come back. LB what a nice compliment to receive, have fun up in London.
Last night did Grit Strength class and this morning was very fortunate as they are having a training at my local gym for Sprint so I was able to take a Master Class with an absolutely amazing instructor. When I came home I ran into a neighbor who asked was I okay as my face was really red, I had to tell him that it's okay I just worked out really hard, my red face is a dead giveaway as to how hard I work in a clas
-
happy late birthday Ruth!
60 minutes treadmill and 30 minutes recumbent bike this morning. Funeral for dear elderly aunt this afternoon followed by an evening of lovely solitude (DH is off to a fundraising banquet with his hunting buddies). Love my DH with all my heart but also enjoy the occasional alone time.
Enjoy the weekend all!
-
One hour of yoga class with my favorite teacher, Linda Lalita. First time back since the Mx.
