Super cold here so I went to the mall at lunch and walked 30 minutes.
Congrats to your son on his wedding ,Patoo, and think of us as you sit on the beach!
Ginger fabulous work on the weight loss. I vowed today to get back on the wagon and made it through one day with no sugar. Nowi have to string a few together.

Just normal exercise here, but I made sure I did my errands yesterday morning on foot to get in enough exercise. Then off to the resale shop and wine bar as I am getting some extra income I hadn't counted on. Special bottles of wine for my co-workers at the nonprofit. Nice to have a couple of glasses myself after 2 weeks of abstinence. Great fun was selecting wine with the staff to go with their Christmas dinners. Nicest compliment ever was that the bar manager considers me to be an "extension of the staff". Of course, I am now on the hook to make a batch of rillettes for everyone. Which I will do. Mine are so much better than what is available from the chi-chi gourmet places.
This is especially a compliment because they serve "small bites" including dried meat and pate, so he gets to sample the best out there.
At the resale shop, I succumbed and bought the amazing one-of-a-kind Ferragamo midnight blue suede double-breasted midi coat. It is the loss of the moron who slashed the pocket linings (easily repaired) and my gain. It looks as if it was made for me, unique and elegant.
After two weeks of blood pressure meds and no wine, my weight is down and my blood pressure is normal. I am so glad that I have no side effects at this point and my energy is unaffected. Have to admit I was worried. I also learned that, as much as I love wine, being able to live a full and active life is infinitely more important. I am going to feast the next 2 weeks (I am not into deprivation, and this time of year is very special to me) but will go back and lose the rest of the 15 lb in the New Year. Yes, I will have some of the rillettes with wine, and my Christmas Pudding with brandy butter.
As for Christmas itself, I am heading to Yakima for a spot of vineyard skiing!!! All is booked now (really cheap Airbnb as a trifle nippy for camping) and I will have 2 days of skiing on Naches Heights and the Cowiche Canyon. This year has the best snow ever (usually not enough for skiing) and they have laid tracks all over the area. It should be a fantabulous once-in-a-lifetime experience. I will return on Christmas Day and make myself a proper dinner. I am so stoked!!
Hoping to get up for a day of skiing tomorrow. Thinking Stevens Pass unless Snoqualmie is open. Should be perfect conditions. Today is a work and pudding steaming day. Starting with a trip to the markets to buy the rest of the ingredients.
Exercise will be a run on top of hitting the markets for pud stuff. Hoping that Safeway still has candied fruit and that I don't have to go to Met Market which is a hike from here. But I will get what I need. Reminder too, that I need to change the hook on my ski pants. And look up places to eat in Yakima. Should be so fun. Happy shopping everyone!!! - Claire

Didn't get to my workout last night. Had some plowable snow hit us so I was out shoveling off the sidewalk, walkway and stairs earlier. Will get to my workout later
-
Glad things are going well, Claire.
We to the last class at the fitness center today. POUND......it was good we could be hitting something without getting in trouble. None of us is sure what we will do next, and it is hard to go checking things out when it is so close to the holidays and so cold. 15 below was our HIGH at noon today. OMG! Seriously!!!!!
-
-
brrrrrr. Ruth!
My exercise thus far today has consisted of holiday shopping. It is cold here for us (going to get down below freezing tonight, about 50 degrees right now. Sorry Ruth) so I am debating baking...

Workout done before dinner

Here we go:
-
Wonderland....yeah on the good mammo!!
Patoo - congrats on your son's marriage...look forward to seeing the photos when you post them.
Ruth....We aren't quite as cold as you, depends where you take the temp...DIA had a record low today around dinner time of 14 below......the high was 6 by me...Right now its 4 below on my phone, but DIA is sure to be colder. We got about 6 - 8 inches by my house, but the mountains are measuring in feet. As cold as it was today, I still managed to walk, just all bundled up!!
One more batch of cookies to make more my daughter. Just sent her the list of everything I'm taking for her...sure hope it all fits in, once I pack some clothes. What I can't get in. my DH can bring the end of January...like the girl scout cookies from last year (we always buy a enough to last a year), granola bars and cereal bars...she wanted 2 boxes of each, but I might just bring one of each.
Tomorrow, my husband and I will go to Mom's place and take the desk and a few other things that won't fit in the new apt. The move date is between the 27th and the 29th...will get the exact date on Monday...DH will have to help with the move...mostly just be there to direct traffic and where to put stuff as well as be with Mom at the lease signing. I told Mom I was going to take her large oriental vase to my house during the move so it does't get broken and she told me to keep it, that she wants me to have it. It really doesn't go with my house and I'm not sure I have room but I will find somewhere for now. All her art work won't fit, so DH will bring the extra to our house...I already have several of her pictures. One day I will have to get rid of some stuff, but not now.
Well, I best get to sleep soon...Sweet dreams

Love the POUND class photo and meme Ruth! Good on ya Wonderland and congratulations for you, son and his new wife Patoo! Good on the bp turn-around and enjoy xcountry Claire. Cheryl, BP 100 tops available at Reebok
Karen, you are so organized. Stay toasty and frost-free for those of you in cold temps.
No classes today yet will spend a few hours at the gym studio practising #75.
-
30 minutes on my exercise bike again, then long brisk evening walk, with Misty's leash in my hand --- missing my sweet dog
-
Love those, Ruth, especially the "reinvent yourself every day".
Karen, I hope you have a great trip. I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely.
Claire, there is some evidence that foam rolling can help with arterial stiffness, and thus blood pressure. One more thing to add to the routine.
Yesterday I did some Christmas shopping at the mall so I did a round of pure walking first and then did the shopping part - about an hour and a half all together. Then I went for a 25 minute walk at the lake. We had more fresh snow and it was cold but pleasant. I encountered one cross country skier, two snowshoers, and me. It did make me think I would like to try the snowshoeing, and maybe I should get my vintage skis (1980s) out of my mom's closet and see if they still work.
Oh I also shoveled my back deck and a path for my short-legged dog.

Been off the boards this week due to being CRAZY busy. Getting ready for the holidays plus starting a new job in Jan. I have a very heavy workload (one of the reasons I'm leaving) and there's so much to wrap up. Continuing 7th inning stretch breaks at work plus many opportunities for Shovel & Sculpt with lots of snow lately. VERY cold here today so glad we got the last round of snow cleared before it turned to solid blocks of ice.
patoo, congrats on your son's marriage!
Keep up the good work everyone!! ♥

Crazy weather we're having here. Was in the 20's last week (very cold for us), Saturday hung around 32-34, so precipitation was ice, got warmer at night, and today is in the 60's with lots of rain. I'll take it over snow any time. Went for my free personal trainer session at the new gym today. I felt like I worked very hard. Did some planks, squats, lunges and very low weights (I have a pretty intense case of lymphedema). Then rode the bike for 5 miles. Have to get back to the jogging next week. Still have to try the classes at the gym. Supposed to meet a friend for a cycle class next week. Also want to try the pound, pool aerobics and maybe the boot camp (but the name is really scaring me). So nice to hear the nice things besides the exercising, love hearing about the clothing finds and the wedding. Congrats!
-
Well, it got below freezing last night (27 or so)...a cold night for us. So, braved the 'cold' (I feel bad claiming it as such given what many of you are experiencing) to go swimming this morning: got to the gym to discover the spa heater was broken..no one was in the pool, and while it was early, I suspect that heater is going on the blink too: about 79, felt colder. Oh well, I was there, so did about 45 mins of swimming, and then jumped in the sauna, which was nice and toasty. I feel like I've earned an afternoon in front of the fire at home addressing holiday cards....

I did The FIRM 500 Calorie Workout. We are going to a holiday open house tonight so I imagine I will find those 500 caleries back pretty easily!
-
Kay it would sure be nice to see a 60 degree day amidst the wintry weather. I can't complain because we had a very mild fall, but it is definitely winter now. Octogirl, a sauna sounds darn good today.
More snow this morning, so 40 minutes shovel and sculpt the old fashioned way (no snowblower). The snow was so glittery and fluffy. I decided to burn the calories instead of burning gas and creating fumes. It was only 4 degrees but so pretty. I think this cold has been good for my weight at least. I've lost a couple of pounds just by giving up sugar and exercising in the cold the last 3 days. Proud of myself for stopping the sugary treats and desserts before Christmas. I decided I had already eaten my fair share, and if I gained any more weight I might not get it off at all.
-
Just out of a hot bath soothing my achy body....arms, neck, butt, quads feet, other parts too numerous to mention...after 12 miles of glorious skiing. Feel VERY well exercised. Did I mention my sore butt???
At the top of the chairlift. I didn't fall getting off, so was gloating a bit.
Into the ski. Snow was perfect, other than at the very end where dicey and steep. I sidestepped down, but landed on my butt anyway. All is well and I feel amazing. Was thankful for clear roads. - Claire
-
It warmed up to about 30 today, but as soon as the sun went down it was COLD again. At least its warming up the next couple of days.
Took the desk, desk chair, oriental vase and all of Mom's important papers to my house. Its all in the garage, but I need to go through the desk to get any important papers.
Starting to pack and I think I'm already taking too much!!! So much for packing lightly!! I will take stuff out after I'm packed. I need to be sure to take a couple of changes of clothes etc in case of flight delays
Getting excited to see y daughter..I know she is excited!!
Well, time to get busy....lots to do over the next two days including work!!
Stay warm.
-
Badger, congrats on the new job!
Twohobbies, I was just about to say it's impossible to cut back on sugar at this point, but you've proven me wrong! Hats off to you.
Love the pics, Claire!
Rest day yesterday after totalling some 20,000 steps from Body Step, Body Jam and the treadmill on Saturday. First time I've done a full class of step aerobics since the 1980s.
-
Workout planned for tonight
-
Congratulations Wonderland it's so good when you get that "all clear". Heidi I love Step but since I fell I've been very leery but it's a great workout as for Jam well you know it just simply has my heart all wrapped up in a big red bow. LB yup all the instructors over here are posting pictures of their new gear, all the masters have white and the instructors have orange. Wow KB that is cold. So sorry for the mess your club is in Ruth, what an awful thing to happen, is there and recourse that can be taken - someone needs to read over all the paperwork in the original agreement but grrrrrrrr.
Well wedding #1 was amazing, held at Callaway winery in Temecula, we had horrific rain Thursday/Friday so they moved the ceremony indoors into the barrel room where the reception was to take place and even though she was disappointed it was beautiful but it was soooooooo cold yet I still wore my summer dress, I also showed those young ones that even though there is snow on the roof there is fire in the feet, I danced the entire evening away, the kids were amazed that I knew words to their songs and I knew the Bollywood moves, (thank you Zumba) the groom told me that his cousin told him that I had incredible stamina. After the celebration we went gambling at Pechanga casino and while we were there random people told me that I looked beautiful, it was so nice acompliment to receive so randomly, a lovely end to a truly magical day.
-
Tried a new class: gymstick aerobics. Fun --- and sweaty! I felt pushed to my absolute limit. Yes!
Then I came home and ATE ALL THE THINGS (I've been baking brownies and Christmas cookies)....
Oh well
-
That dress is beautiful on you Cheryl. The color is perfect for your hair and skin tone!
Two exercise DVDs; a cardio dance & pilates. I will have to wait until after Christmas to figure out the gym thing. Fortunately I have stacks & stacks of workout DVDs........
On the bright side, it was actually quite mild here today. Didn't even use the autostart!
-
Finally went to the gym tonight and did Grit Cardio. LB I didn't do it but watched a little of LM Vinyasa, it looked interesting and for a first time in the schedule there was a great turnout.
Second wedding ceremony today, didn't understand a thing but the ceremony was beautiful, such lovely traditions and they fed you before and after the ceremony, great vegetarian Indian food.
-
My frien and I with the bride and groom
-
Cheryl, You look fantastic....handsome looking couple..loved the expression, was it, snow on the roof and fire in the basement? I'll have to remember it.
Heidi...way to go girl!!
KB...that's COLD by any standard!! We only go to minus 14F at DIA the other day...today it warmed up into the 30's. It was great walking tonight without snow pants.
Well, I have about 24 hours to get everything done that I need to get done....My clothes are laid out all over the spare bedroom but not in the suitcase yet....Most of daughter's stuff is int he suitcase and its at 25#...but the outside pocket is full with toiletries for her and contact solution so it's taking up a lot of my part of the suitcase. I'm trying to pack light and this may force me to pair down..so far I have 3 skirts packet and about 9 tops and camis (no use for a bra but feel too old to not wear something under my tops. I was going to take an extra pair of shoes but may have to just do with the pair I wear. My daughter's UGGs got wet over the week-end...there was water on her dorm room floor an she doesn't know how they got wet...They are the real thing!! I have a pair of knockoff UGG's that I got a great deal on last year hoping daughter would want them....They are too hot for me to wear indoors and if there is snow out, they get ruined....She is thinking about me bringing them!! Try to get all my year end donations done before I leave.
Ruth, are you done for the semester? One more day for me
Our break officially starts on the 22nd...staff goes back January 4th and the students on the 9th.
Well, time to get busy before it gets too late....
Sweet dreams. Karen
-
Cheryl, you do look great and the necklace - super! Wonderful happy newlyweds and terrific venues. Was told by my Aim 1 trainer George, that no LM Vinyasa would be going out past NZ and that Kylie was in CA for a LM shoot not training vinyasa and that LM Vinyasa would most likely not come to the UK~sigh. Good on you TwoHobbies for weight loss & sugar reduction, esp at this time of year. HeidiHill, got a email alert a few weeks back, from US consulate stating that US citizens should stay out of Christmas markets on the continent and nixed a trip to Bruges christmas market that I had planned to go on . I would not make it in the cold temps all of you seem to handle with grace. Day off teaching and hoping to get to the studio later to practice 75
-
I was just thinking of whether to go to the Christmas market today. I will do it anyway as I hate to let terrorists win, particularly as it's just 10 minutes away by bike. I'm sure security will be extra tight. I would not go to the one in Bruges though, absolutely not. Nor any Paris markets. I guess I'm not that brave.
Your pics have brightened up my day, Cheryl.
