[OK - have patience with me - I missed a whole page of posts so in the following I'm responding to stuff from early in March. Duh. Hi to everyone and forgive my anesthesia brain. It may not be as bad as chemo brain, but it still sucks.]
I'm doing the flat thing - I was never very big; didn't wear bras - just undershirts to hide nipple outline and color. I look a bit like a pear with legs - bigger belly with flat chest. My partner says we must look like a yin/yang symbol when we hug! I've promised myself I'll lose the belly over the next year or two - a slow process, especially since I crave sugar (bad for me I know) when I'm stressed or feeling bad, which pretty much defines my life right now.
I had a BMX on Jan 12, 2010, and don't plan on reconstruction. I also attended Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, albeit many years ago, and it gave me a totally new and better view of my body and my breasts. You do see every possible kind, including burned, missing, sunburned, pointy, hairy, huge, flat w/nipple only, wrinkled, bouncy, etc. It's very freeing. I had forgotten about that - thanks for the reminder, Raili. Makes me want to make the trip again. Hmmm.

I have never been to the Michigan Women's Music Festival but would like to go someday. Been to some smaller festivals here in Ohio back in the day that had ladies like Teresa Trull, Meg Christianson, Holly Near, Lucy Blue and Chris Williamson ect. Have seen Melissa Etheridge too but NOT topless though! LOL
Bookart-You just have decide to make time for yourself. I know it's easier said than done. but you have to or you will go nuts for sure. If you are ready to do something about the weight and crave the carbs, check out the Atkins diet. I have been having a lot of success with it. I have modified it a bit but it's still working great. The withdrawal from the carbs is the worst part though!
The weather is so beautiful here today, I took a vacation day from work and am going to get out and enjoy. Everyone have and awesome fun day!

Having a BBQ today and everyone is invited!
Have a nice weekend!

HAPPY EASTER!

Hi All,
I particularly wanted to tell newby2u good luck with the surgery tomorrow. I know your mind is whirling right now, but try to trust in those taking care of you, take all the support you can get, and remember, this part of this journey will be but a memory 6 months from now. We are ALL here to support you. Let us know how you're doing when you can.
-
I too am worried about Annie and Newby. Ladies please let us know how you are doing. Hope to hear from you soon! How is everyoe else doing? The lesbian threads are very slow lately! Come out come out wherever you are!
TGIF!!! -
Hi all, Happy, Happy Friday!!!
I thought I'd show this thread some love too before my second cup of coffee (yep I'm living on the edge.) I think people just come & go on this here BC.org, that's what I'm noticing. It's been a huge help for me, especially when I was first diagnosed, it was nice to find a thread, where each post didn't mention DH 54 times.
Dswope, how do you like living in Washington State, I was going to move there?
-
Gotta share some wonderful news! On Wednesday my beloved twin sister was officially married in DC! They have been together for 21 years and have two great kids. I bawled my eyes out! It was so beautiful to have our family there to love and support each other! xo
-
Hi lovesomuch,
I am happy that you and your family are supportive of your gay sister, not everyone has that in their lives. Congratulations to your sister!

YAY SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!
Did my first mow of the year. Now I just have to get out there and get started on the flower beds.
Have a great weekend!

Good Morning All,
cancersucks, living in Washington state has it's ups and downs, as does everywhere I suppose.
The rain 8-9 months out of the year can be depressing....actually, it's not really the rain as much as the gray skies. We are known for our vitamin D deficiencies here you know! I've been here 20 years, and still have to find a way to get to some sunshine in Feb. or Mar. As far as the summer goes, it couldn't be nicer. Our growing season is rather short (particularly for tomatoes!), but it is absolutely beautiful here! My partner and I will eventually have a place to go in the winter. I'm originally from Kansas, and do not miss the freezing cold of the winter, or the humidity of the summers, so I really can't complain too much!
Come out and explore, however wait till after July 4th!
-
Hi everyone, I'm still here... kinda! I still wish this thread wasn't open for the general public! But anyway...
bookart, that's awesome that you went to MichFest, too, and had such a good experience.
I love your description of the varied breasts - so true!! I bet I've now seen even more breasts than my breast surgeon, haha! You should come back this year! You, too, dee... and everyone!!! It's the 35th anniversary, and the anniversary years are always even more amazing. Michfest is really my favorite place on Earth... it is home to me. It's the only place where I can be 100% me, where I am the norm instead of the deviant. It's amazing how awesome it feels to let out the breath you hadn't even known you were holding, you know?? Michfest = a week-long village of thousands of women and girls, deep in the woods, and the only place on Earth where you can wander naked through the woods at midnight, alone, and be totally safe!!
I'm halfway through radiation, and I think my "reward" for finishing is going to be purchasing my Michfest 2010 ticket!!
-
Raili, Glad you are at the halfway point and doing alright:)
Good idea about the festival. I think I will try to go this year as well
~
Have an awesome day everyone!

Stop the presses! Melissa E and Tammy E just broke up.
Sorry to hear after nine years together.

Hello out there in Lavender Land,
A month ago I decided to stop taking Arimidex after 2.5 years because the side effects were interfering with my quality of life. I'm taking a leap of faith and it feels GREAT....I'm moving forward with my life and it feels great. My wife is totally supportive (together 30 years and married for 2)
I trust that I'm going to be fine. Wishing all of you much good health and happiness.
-
Hi casaredonda,
You definately have to weight your QOL when taking Arimedex and other AI's. They can cause alot of problems for women. You have made your decision and it is right for you, don't look back or second guess yourself. 30 years is amazing! Stay strong and be happy. Take care

Ok I walk in the local Komen walk here tomorrow . I will carry everyone's name with me. AM walking with a local friend too .
-
GO LG GO! Have a great time and thanks for carrying everyone along! You are awesome
-
Ok LG, How did the walk go? Tell all
-
hi everybody!!! so i'm new to this whole forum thing so please be patient with me. i'm single, 31, see below for dx specs. i got my dx 2/8/10, bilateral masectomy 3/22/10, preparing for chemo to start in may. up until now, i haven't really reached out to other survivors for support. the further i get into my treatment, the more i'm realizing i need that support...
right now i'm having hard time trying to decide on which clinical trial to pick. i have a choice between tc tac +- avastin study or ac -->t +- avastin study. any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you, thank you...
-
The walk was amazing. There were over 5,000 people who took part and the route was lined with people supporting those of us walking/running. There were so many of us who were survivors. As I crossed the finish line my breast surgeon was there greeting everyone and giving out Komen survivor pins. I just keep thinking what a year it has been. The weather was perfect. I am ready for next year. Thanks again for the support here.
-
Lovegolf,
YOU ROCK!!! Thank you for the update. I'm going to walk when it comes to Boston, but I'm still gathering info on how. Was it hard to gather sponsers? CS
-
Glad you had a nice day for the walk. Yes, I agree WHAT A YEAR! Keep on keepin' on sistas
-
CS, maybe I will walk with you.
-
CS This was a 5K run/walk so it only cost $35 to enter. I think the 3 day is $2300 to enter so sponsors would help.
-
-
Sure Raili, you know where to find me. I'm in for the 5K. Thanks LoveGolf
-
It's too bad that the 3 day is so much money to enter. I personally think that any amount of monetary donations should be welcome. Oh well, I guess they have to make money some way to pull off the big fund raisers eh? Wait..maybe they should donate their time for such a worthy cause..what a concept!
Hope everyone is doing well...have a great weekend!
