helloooooooooooo and that island is fine with me....hate the cold, sledding and anything else....
-
Dinner sounds great but Sandy and I are having OCF and Dairy Queen!
-
i love baby bok choy. DD used to make it. That's her line of work. She worked for a Country Club.
She is the chef. When she cooks everything has to be perfect.
She is going back to school part time to become a paralegal (sp)
I tried ones it didn't come out as good as hers.
Cleaning and throwing things out what a good feeling isn't it?
I have to ask politely to DD since they are not coming back....i would like to donate all her winter clothes except few when they come and visit.
I had a delicious lunch all kind of salad greens, arugula (that's my favorite) with avocado and can of sardines.
for dinner very lazy and chickeny with one small wheat pita bread.
For dessert I'm having some wine.
-
I also love arugula. Oh, does wine count as dessert? Uh-oh!
I bet DD will not mind at all.....
Can't believe how much I am donating!!!
I love to cook these things. Today I went to Uwajimaya, giant Japanese grocery store. My husband decided to buy burdock root, whatever the hell that is...looks like ultra-long pale carrots.
Tomorrow I will make eggplant with ground pork - recipe card at the store so we shall see.
-
14 degree and falling.................
-
That is cold - you going to call the BB&B guy?
-
I will tell her before i do it. (meant the clothes)
When weather gets warmer i will go to BB&B
Did you ever make celery roots? They look very ugly but nutritious and you need a very sharp knife. I love weird looking vegetables or OCV
-
I never know what to do with OCV.
-
The same here sometimes I see them but dont buy it.
Diane knows those things maybe we should post a picture of any OCV.
-
How are you Deb?
Countdown continues .......
-
Diane, can you post an easy OCV recipe every day?
-
celery root. My GM used to make them all the time when i was still in Turkey.
-
Yes, I have made celeriac. What is OCV?
-
OCV=other countries vegetables
how do you make it?
-
You can always stir fry OCV.
-
Cut off the bottoms and tops, cut into quarters and peel. Cut into 1/2-inch thick dice.
Heat the olive oil in a 4-quart saucepan over low heat. Add the celeriac, garlic, salt and pepper and cook, stirring frequently, just until it begins to soften, approximately 5 minutes. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the water. Bring to a boil and cook until the celeriac is tender and easily pierced with a fork, approximately 20 minutes. Drain the celeriac through a colander and return to the pot. Using a stick blender, puree until no lumps are present, approximately 1 minute. Place the butter and heavy cream into a microwave proof bowl and heat just until the butter is melted, approximately 45 seconds. Add the cream and butter and continue to puree with the stick blender for another minute. Serve warm.
Obviously, you can stop before the butter and cream
-
I make lots of OCV - I can post anytime. Today was bok choy and portobello stir fry - is that OCV qualified?
-
Yes definitely.
Anyone cooked those beans. I cant find a picture the beans in their pods. Its absolutely delicous.
I buy and clean them then they go in the freezer. We dont have them all year around.
diane thanks. Yes I will stop before the butter & cream.
-
Which beans Sheila?
-
Sorry
-
* 1-1/4 pounds Bok Choy
* 1 cup whole shiitake mushrooms, use same amount of any favorite mushrooms if shiitake is not available or not your kind
* 3 cloves chopped garlic
* 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
* 2 teaspoon minced ginger
* 1 teaspoon sesame oil
* 1 tablespoon vegetable oil- 2
Soak shiitake mushrooms in water until softened. Wash Bok Choy, trim ends/stalks. Separate large leaves from stalk, leaving only small leaves intact and then cut each Bok Choy in half.
- 3
Use the mushrooms as whole or slice them into thin strips when soft (if using dried shiitakes) I used fresh portobello and sliced them thickly.
- 4
Flavor the oil by sautéing garlic over high heat in oil using frying pan. Throw in the mushrooms when aromatic, watch out for hot splattering oil. Stir fry the mushroom for 5 minutes; or until soft for other kinds of mushrooms.
- 5
Add Bok Choy, ginger, and soy sauce.. Cover pan with lid and let cook over medium-low heat until Bok Choy is tender, about 5 minutes.
- 6
Transfer vegetables to platter, drizzle sesame oil on top.
-
Are those pinto beans?
-
MR google says light speckle kidney beans.
But Veggie store posts as jelly beans.
The pod is very colorful like the bean itself.
Diane...Thank You for sharing.
-
PINTO BEANS
-
red spotted pinto or kidney beans - we grew them last summer - not a favorite - there are better beans. They sure are pretty though, especially in the pod.
-
Thats the dry one right?
I used to use it.
-
We grew them fresh bcause we bought an unlabeled plant at the farmer's market last spring.
-
Pintos are probably that last bean I use just because they are so common. I like different things.
-
I really miss eating soybeans (edamame)
-
Supposedly the hormones in soy is plant hormone and is not supposed to affect BC. One opinion I got. I read other places that they are bad.
