Blondie - I know how it is to be missing the kids...clearly you have had the strength to fight the Battle of BC, this too you will have to strength for. That is what I keep telling myself. I can handle it, I can handle it.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy yummy goodies!
-
Yes RCG, Bonnies strength is amazing!
Hope you all enjoyed your day.

Just looked at the pictures. That turkey should be in the magazine sooo perfect.
As almost we leave Thanksgiving behind us I'm wondering when I should become a tree again. Using the same one from last year.

Good evening ladies - we ended up having such a nice holiday after all. After the snow and freezing rain of the morning, the deep freeze of the last 4 days finally let up and everything began to melt - no more Yukon type living this week
We went to my friends house - she just became a grandmother so I enjoyed that vicariously. I seriously overcooked my pie because I shut the oven off when it beeped and I had to pee really bad and then forgot. 30 min later I remembered and ran to the oven to discover that no, I had not shut it off. EFFFFF! Anyway, we did get around safely this evening and had a great meal. Just dropped my daughter at her BF;s house for a few hours and dessert. Got home to see that my DS had called several times, sounding confused as to why we were not getting together at all. Always so freaking awkward. don't want to be the nasty MIL, but want to tell him that his wife stated she wanted to do her own thing. So, I said, I am not sure why it didn't work out for Nkki. Was that bitchy? I really don't want to be bitchy but I also am not willing to accept responsibility for not seeing my DS. He asked if we had time to see him this weekend and of course we do! He really doesn't seem to know that his wife told us there was no free time for the next two weeks. What to do???? What I have been doing is letting it go for the last two years but he sounds so confused about things because he is always traveling on business and isn't necessarily in touch with daily life here. You know the Harry Chapin song, Silver Spoon? That describes our lives a bit.
-
Im sorry RCG I just couldnt stop LOL at least you turned the oven off.
Few times I turned off the timer but not the oven and ended up with a very crispy chicken.
Well you are home safely. Sorry about that you are having family issues.
-
Sheila - no worries. It's not really issues unless I let that happen and I won't. My kids mean too much to me for that to happen.

Up sitting here waiting for my coffee.
DD calls at early hour that she forgot something here and she was coming to get it.
I told her why are you calling me to tell me that, Oh because she doesn't want to scare me when she opens the door.
I know she does that out of some kind of respect. She knows there is nobody else here but me.
I was just TOL.
Its ready its ready I can smell it...
To Be continued........
GOOD MORNING
-
Did you drink it yet?
Perhaps DD is ever hopeful for you, which I find very sweet.
-
Sheila, what is your favorite brand of coffee?
RCG, you will decide the right thing to do with the situation between you DIL and DS.
-
Deb, I think I have actually. It is the job of the MIL to say nothing and to be there for DS if ever needed, to support DIL if desired, and to wait for additional growth and maturity. Thank goodness for my super wise counselor, he feels she is terribly insecure and may always be that way. She really doesn't have a sense of, understanding of, or welcome of family - I am pretty sure that since both her parents have been married three times and passed her back and forth, she has not learned this. Our family has reached out to her for the last four years. We await her readiness to be part of us and I know that issue is very hard for DS. Not my job to make it worse, but rather to endeavor to make it better. Right?
Sheila - you must visit the land of coffee!
-
That is the key word, your desire to support her. Saying anything about what she said to you and he being confused because does not know what she said may cause trouble. It seems they need to communicate between each other.
-
Yes Im normal now.
Had high fiber oatmeal and a banana.
Checked the sales online.
RCG...Im very content living alone. Believe me after all I went through years back I dont need to be in any relationship.

Hi! sheila ! In commomoration with thanksgiving to you all, I made sandwiches to day for lunch, no fat only with fatfree spread, tomato sliced and grated cucumber mixed with fresh corriender leave cut into very small .. that was my lunch today. Today, I got damed tired from office.rush home to rest. I confused what to make for dinner .. so what I did..
I took - 250 gms long rice (Basmati), some cumin seeds(roasted) and cooked with rice. Some lady,s finger was there so I cut it into small pieces ..then saute onion, garlic and ginger paste in one teaspoon of olive oil and cooked in steam till it is halfdone and put few fresh green peas and leave it for some time. At the end I had sprinkled few fresh corriender leaves. For gravy, I just boiled lentils with carrot. Then I made tomato chutni ( like salsa). Very simple no meat, fish for today but everymember of my family enjoyed my food. That was the dinner.
-
Sorry I started to write the above post and the phone rang.
Deb...I'm not really a coffee drinker but that one cup in the morning juices up my brain.
I buy this Dominican coffee which I like and the smaller supermarket carries it now. I brought 12 packages when I visited Punta Cana DR. Now its here. Chuckfull'nuts is my second choice and maybe Folgers.
RCG...You are doing the smart thing with the family. Listen but not to bug in their business too much.
-
Raj - I only know ladyfingers to be used in dessert or other sweets. I have not heard of a savory use. Are you saying you sauteed the ladyfingers with garlic and peas, ginger etc?
-
Raj... we were posting the same time. I only use Basmati Rice i just love the aroma.
They have brown basmati rice here too.
What a good idea to make some lentil since I have 2 regular and 1 red lentil in the house.
You really enjoy cooking. I'm so glad every ones enjoyed your food. Thanks for sharing.
I love soup.
-
Lindaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
-
Raj..Do you have different time zones in India?
-
i will be a couch potato now.
See you all later
Hugs
♥
-
Yeah! now it is 12.47 am .everyone has gone to sleep but I am still with you all. Yours may be morning time or evening ? I have no idea but I was told when day time in India, it is night in America. We always cooked lady,s finger this way, because we loved spicy. You try once and see the taste. First of all, put oil, then saute the onion, garlic, ginger pastes then stir it till little brown then only you have to put cut LFs ,peas and cook in steam.Sprinkle salt and cover it for 2/3 minutes. At last sprinkle cut corriender leave. I think will like it.
-
I have several friends from India, this is something I have not seen at their many dinners. I may have to surprise them
It is almost noontime in Seattle.
-
Raj, your recipe sounds delicious!!!
I'm here Sheila. Kids are home, DH is working so I've been busy!
