There are entire threads at Americanidol.com devoted to how much people are hating having 4 judges - Kara has not gone over that well with plenty of people.

I really like Anoop Desai - I have to say the guys have it ALL OVER the girls this year.

Could there have been any more bloopers?!?!  There were a few times when the camera just showed random chaos (seemed like the camera guy was running to a new location and forgot to turn off the camera!).  Then the frozen shot of Stevie when it was supposed ot be the country guy.

Kara......ugh!  I think she was having some microphone issues (her face was too close or something...).  I also think she kind of fed off of Randy.  She used the same inflection as Randy, but just rambled....

    Paula-was she high?!?!?!?  'Nuff said.

I hate the new format.  It's just poorly thought out.  We don't want to hear all that crap about "you need to know who you are as an artist......."

Poor Stevie.  And the girl that sang Police-oh that was embarrassing.  The dude who forgot his lyrics during Hollywood week was boooooooring.  I, too, like the guy we never met, but I also don't know his name!

I like the little girl who dirtied her image up, but I get a weird vibe from her......she seems so cute and wholesome, but I think she has a fiercely intense competitive vibe.

And crazy Tatiana.....she was weird again last night, but in a whole new way.  I think that perhaps she is a very talented actress, she seems to be very good at taking on new personalities.

Finally, I simply LOVE Danny.  I love Danny because he is awesome, a church musician, and because he so completely loved his wife.  He started a non-profit in her honor, btw.

I think Danny, Adam Lambert, and Anoop will be in the top 10.

Hi All...so glad I found this topic. I love talking American Idol. I too think Danny will make it through tonight. Other than that not sure who else. Tatiana sure adds something. It's almost like you can't wait to see what she will do next. Her singing isn't really anything special. It will be interesting to see if she does make it through tonight. Anyway looks like we have awhile before the top 12 will be decided. That is when it really gets good.

that duet by Carly and Michael Johns (both from last season) was excellent!  It was good to see them both doing so well. I voted for 2 of the 3 that got in--Alexis (she was fabulous!) and Danny--but I wanted Ricky.  I was surprised that Michael got in, even though he's good, he's not that great. (Ricky reminded me of Clay, who has always been my favorite).

I think Alexis and Danny were correctly put through. As for Michael, I don't even remember him singing on Tuesday night. After hearing him repeat his song last night I didn't think he was that great either.  Happy that Tatiana didn't make it!

I think we are all happy Tatiana didn't make it. She was unfortunately too much of a drama queen, can't tell if she was a good singer or not, her antics overshadowed her singing.

Not sure Michael should have made it, would rather have seen Anoop go through.

The most interesting part of this season may be the wild card picks. It was pretty predictable last night, except for the Anoop vs Michael choice. I wonder if the judges will pick the best singers for wild cards, or the ones who will make the top 12 more interesting? I hope Ricky has a chance with that -- the judges have at least seen him all along the way. Of this batch I think Anoop, Ricky and maybe Tatiana are in the running to get wild card pics.

I like Danny, but I don't think he is this season's David Cook. He brings a lot of emotion to his singing, but so far it doesn't seem like he is a great musician -- just good singer. And he seems a little over-confident at this point. Simon will attack that in the final 12, count on it.

    Danny and Alexis absolutely!!

But Michael??  Come on.  When he sang last night I didn't think it was good at all.  There were 2 or 3 definitely better than him.  Tatiana should have tried to carry herself better when she didn't make it.  I think she may have tried to some but isn't in the habit of controlling her emotions.  When everyone else that didn't make it was clapping and being happy for the ones that made it through, it showed her trying to cry on someone else shoulder.  Just looked like she was trying to make it all about her not realizing that the one she was trying to cry on also didn't make it.

Still not sure what I think about the format.  Only 3 going through from 12.

Also,   I found it very interesting how observant Simon was of Tatiana's reaction to not making it.  He was seeing her lack of happiness for the others and lack of grace in not making it.  That will definitely make a difference in the wild card.

My take on the new format?

    Tacky, Tacky, TACKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hated how they would have the judges say outright who was a disappointment, who they think won't make it, etc.  I HATE how obvious the seating situation was for the elimination.  Duh, of course the first person won't be in the top 3.......hate it, hate it, HATE IT!

I totally love Danny.  I really don't see him as overly confident.  I see him as someone very similar to my husband.  For example, Tatiana was a blubbering mess, and he was standing rock-solid, not showing any emotion until Ryan tried to ask him how he was feeling.  Danny tried to give an answer, and then just said, "I just want to know!"

He's gotta be a good musician, he is a church music teacher.  He has a degree to do what he does.

Who knows, you never know how this show is going to turn out!

Does anybody have any predictions for next weeks 12 contestants? I can't think of anyone else that stands out like Danny and Tatiana did. That's probably because they got a lot of air time, Danny about losing his wife and Tatiana because of her drama.

I think his name is Adam----dark hair, sort of a punk rock hairdo, he had an awesome voice in the try outs. But I think Alexis Grace is gonna run away with it all in the end.

Ladies, I am really disappointed by Anoop not getting through, but I'll bet you anything he comes back as a wild card.

I'm mixed up about the wild card thing. I thought the judges were just going to pick 3, but now I hear that the judges are going to pick 12 and then they will have a show and we will get to vote for the top 3. If that is the case a bunch of people are going to get a second shot. I like that better.

I don't get that.  How is it a wild card pick if the public votes?

Well, I could be wrong about us voting. But there will be a "wild card" episode, so it sounds like more than just the judges picking 3 and adding them to the mix. I can't find anything official about how it works online.

    Hi-

I am also confused bout how they are doing it--I don 't remember them starting the voting this early on but then last yr was the first one I watched so maybe I am just forgetting.

I loved Anoop! Thought he got robbed--hope he comes back in the wild card however that works... yes Michael is a really nice guy but should not have made it through. I wonder how much is "scripted"--like with Tatianna--how much of that did they tell her to do to have an interesting show? I do love Nick/Norman--he is a hoot!

I'm just thanking my lucky stars that Tatiana is gone - I noticed they took very special pains to make sure she didn't make that moment all about her.

revkat - I looked online too and couldn't find a thing.  In the past, each judge has made a wild card "pick," but that can't be how they're doing it this year because there will only be 3 wild cards and there are 4 judges.  So, I don't doubt they'll do it differently from before.

Just chiming in on how I understood Seacrest's explanation of the Wildcard.

The top guy, the top girl, and the other person to get the highest number of votes are voted through these rounds.  On top of that, there is a "Wild Card" episode, where the remaining number of slots will be filled (lost track of math and how many openings remain by that point).

So, the third person to make it through on these first shows are not technically the Wild Card people.

    Hope that helps.

Late joiner - I love Danny and like Adam and Alexis.  I think next week's show is on Wednesday and Thursday (is it really competing against Survivor?) but doublecheck so you don't miss it.

I really like Danny....maybe it's because I live 40 min. from him. I felt so bad for him loosing his wife so soon before the show, but I think he has a wonderful voice as well.

You live 40 minutes from him?  That's so cool!

I just don't believe that he is smug...I just can't see that in him.  It angers me when I read on the AI boards that he keeps playing the "dead wife" card.  MY G*D!  He lost his life partner!  Where the heck is the empathy?!

I totally am bummed to lose Anoop.  Keeping "the nice guy" was a tactic they did a few years back (can't even remember the dude's name!).  He was likeable, but come on!  I want to be entertained.

I am one of the few non-fans of Alexis Grace.  She was cute and sweet at her audition, but I see her as a bit smug now.

Still rooting for Danny and Adam.

So who do you think is going on from last night's show?

I think Adam and Allison (the 16 yr. old redhead). But after them I haven't a clue. Does Norman/Nick have enough of a following to put him through? There were 3 girls who were good (I don't remember names -- long dark hair from Irvine, curly red hair w/great smile, long blond hair and quirky) but no one who really stood out for me. The guys were just not memorable, though some were pleasant to listen to. So, at least some suspense tonight for me!

I really wondered if they were having trouble with the sound last night. So many of the singers were going off pitch, especially when the backup singers came in, that it made me wonder if they were having trouble hearing themselves and the accompaniment. I guess they were just struggling, but boy, I was surprised at how much trouble some of them were having.

And the judges sure are being direct about who they want to see put through and who they think did a bad job. I really liked it when that one girl pushed Randy for specifics "more what?" So often the feedback is really vague.

I agree, I think it will be Adam and Allison but after that, hmmm just don't know. I will be very disappointed if Norman/Nick goes through. The judges keep saying he has a good voice but I can't get passed the Norman thing to hear his voice. I thought his performance last night was very disrespectful to the other contestants who are trying so hard to have a singing career. Can you tell I am not a Norman/Nick fan.

Adam was just AWESOME!  Allison was AWESOME.  I also liked that girl that sing "Put Your Records On," I can't remember her name.  I wasn't expecting to like here, because I thought she looked like she could care less at her audition (the one that has the enormous tattoo up her arm).  She was good.  Not great like the other two, but good.

Norman/Nick-what a slap in the face of AI,and I think that really shows they have begun the process of jumping the shark for letting him through.  Boo!

    The others: meh.  blech.  ick.

Adam was AWESOME!  I rewound and watched him 3 times, and rewatched Alison 2 times.
