Hair Hair Hair - Another question

My lashes grew back longer and thicker than they were i think. But they are straighter. I never used to use an eyelash curler but they look really long and lush now if they point up instead of out.
-
Racy, Thank You!! I have fuzz and silver and white hair stragglers that needs some shaping. Maybe I am expecting way too much. I think the saying is "Beauticians are not magicians".
How far along are you in the PFC?
-
Just curious for those of you who got chemo curls, how long until you could tell it was getting curling?..just wondering if I still may get some once the hair is longer
-
Robo47 Sounds great. My Herceptin appointment starts at 8 but it could be crazy since all the Monday chemo patients will be on Tuesday too. I should be out by 10, 11 the latest.
Let me know where you want to meet.

Now back to our mane feature HAIR (yes I typed mane instead of main. Pun intended
)
So my eyebrows and lashed thinned again but never fully grew back. Not sure if this is still from chemo or from the estrogen sucking drug (Anastrozole… Generic Arimidex).
My hair texture is still not my old hair. I've been told it takes about 18 months.
-
Dragonfly it looks great! You have a perfect shaped head for short hair. And I love your hairline in the back. I will be joining the ranks of the bald head ladies soon enough. Naturally just after I grew mine out after years of wearing it short.
-
marial, I have some chemo curls, and my last chemo was march 22 of this year. so....about 5 months pfc. just in the last week or two i noticed some curl-age. lol!
-
there, we go! lots better!!! this was taken beginning of aug
-
dear all, somewhere on here i read about some henna product that did not turn hair orange...can anybody recall?? am so over this white, looked kind of interesting at first, but now it is just aging!!! any dying solutions really appreciated....
-
seek out professional help... I did and it worked well.
-
I went professional with hair color too. It did come out a bit too red the first time although it was a cool color. 2nd time my hair dresser changed the product we used and it's much better.
-
lago - sorry I missed your one year NED - I hope you celebrate HUGE! It was so nice to meet you in Chicago this summer, and I'll let you know next time I am in your neighborhood.
Marial, my last chemo was March 10th (coming up on 6 months) and my hair looked wiry for awhile, but just in the last week or so, it has started to curl up, especially in the back. My son asked me if I wanted to paint some "happy little clouds" (Bob Ross painter reference). All of a sudden it was like the hair was trying to pouf up and get taller and bushier, and I'm trying to find some sort of putty or pomade to tame it.

lago: Congratulations on your 1 year NED!!!
AimeeMac: We are at the same stage. My last chemo was March 6th. I got the crazy curls too especially in the back. I tried different products to tame it, nothing worked so I had it cut this past weekend. It looks so much better. I did not cut the top only the back. I used the blow drier for the first time to flatten the top, it seems to work. The back now feels straight since it is short but I do not know if it will curl up again.
-
I have a feeling my hair would curl a bit too if I let it grow but I keep the sides and back buzzed. The top is longer and not as straight as before. I blow dry it out so it doesn't get to wavy. Takes 5 minutes to dry my hair. Loving the short hair right now. I feel there are so many things I do for breat cancer (stretches, scar cream, boobie prize massage, paint nails to cover up chemo grossness, fill in eyebrows, wash LE sleeves daily, etc.) that adding time to straightening my hair with flattening is not very appealing to me right now.
Thanks everyone for the congrats.
Waves to AimeeMac. Love to see you again. Hope you are doing well.
-
I got my first 'haircut' Saturday. (more of a neck cut- the back of my head/neck seems to be growing quicker). Now almost have full coverage of hair on my head (almost 14 wks PFC). Will see if I can put up new pics.
Starting going topless many weeks ago- now I am getting less looks now when out. Quit even wearing ball caps now when out.
Congrats lago on the 1 yr! So happy for you- you are so helpful on here to so many of us.

Back to work tomorrow after a year off....new hair, new me???
-
marjie - good luck! Are you nervous - like the first day of school?
-
Thanks! Funny thing is, I have been stressing out like crazy over the past few weeks....no idea why. I've been really looking forward to getting back to work, but then I'm nervous because I don't even feel like the same person after all this!! Like how sympathetic am I going to be when someone is complaining about their bad hair day..."omg! I totally hate my hair..." LOL...I'll be looking at them and saying "Seriously???"
-
Marjie - good luck! Let us know how it goes!
-
Marjie I like your hair granted we have the same hair. I agree though I wish my were straighter and shinier like my old hair. Some day it will come back.
-
Good luck tomorrow marjie- I understand what you mean- we are not the same people we were before b/c in many ways. Hope your first day is great.
-
I think it'll be fun...starting off at 4hr days for this week. Thinking it will be more social than anything else this week, LOL.
Thanks Lago....last wk at my herceptin tx, my nurse commented on how thick and shiny my hair was. Thick, I agree, but shiny??? Perhaps she was catching the glints off the silver hairs
. I'm not hating it, and I feel like moving forward I'll be looking completely different...makeup and real clothes instead of 'au naturel', pyjamas or boat gear!!!
Speaking of boats, in two weeks I'll be actually paddling a race or two for the last of the season - I've been training hard and the coach is thinking I'm ready to race. So excited!
-
marjie, have fun at work, how fortunate you are to have a year off. I felt lucky with 4 months off and working part time. But it is great to have a routine and wear something besides sweat pants and PJs.
-
marjie, have fun at work tomorrow. I'm happy for you. also, the fact that you've been training with a coach for paddling is remarkable. you're a real role model for me.
-
Marjie you'll love being back to work. You'll feel normal again.
To add shine to my hair I use Biosilk therapy. You don't need a lot. If you use to much your hair will look greasy. Smells nice too and I usually don't like things with fragrance.
-
Marjie - good luck at work tomorrow. There is something good about getting back into a regular routine and keeping busy - I found that I thought less about cancer when I was too busy to think of it. You are so lucky to have had a year off - I am amazed how some women have worked through chemo; I never would have been able to do that.
Aimee
-
Marje good luck It will be nice to think of something else other than cancer. i will be going back in 3 weeks and really looking forward to reconnecting with my co-workers. I have only been off for 4months...seems like forever!
-
Marje it will be good to get back to work. I did not work for 2 years, not just because of BC though, just took some time off. Once I started working I felt more focused and alert. I was starting to become a jelly fish brain.
-
An update!!
Ladies I started taking BIOTIN in March and my nails I have rebounded big time. I have cut them twice and I have started getting mani & pedi again. Oh how I missed that.
My hair is growing and growing. I don't plan on cutting my hair anytime soon after all I have been through.
So there is hope!!!

Hey girls, I tried a golden brown Hennah on friday and yikes it has too much red in it, thinking of trying again with dark brown I dont know that I want to commit to a colour just yet so thought it was best to use the Henna any suggestions?
-
No suggestions Kymn!! I've been too chicken to put a colour on my hair...maybe I'll do highlights or something once I figure out what I've got...
Thanks everyone for the good thoughts! I was really happy to get back to work but even a half a day was pretty tiring. I think I may have overworked my brain trying to remember everything!!
YaYa5 - I gave up so much for this cancer crap but I drew the line at having to give up my paddling. My coaches have been awesome - they moved me over to a breast cancer survivor team and they've really been challenging me all the way through. It really helped me to be surrounded by such strong women who all totally understood what I was going through. It's quite common at races for them to come find me sleeping under a tree...don't think my work mates will be quite so accommodating LOL.
If you are on FB, friend me...Marj Stoner. You'll soon be tired of paddling pics and videos!!!
