The whole time he tells me "You look HOT baby!!" Even when I was fat and bald and sporting one boob and surgical drains!! That was his story and he was sticking to it. I gotta love that man.
-
My DH was a sweetie through the whole thing too - we had a lot of laughs, usually at my expense...but he was really great. My fav story and I think I may have told it on here somewhere was the day we were grocery shopping...I was wearing a scarf and my eyes were running like crazy right down my face, my nose was half running/bleeding...I was a mess - it looked like I was bawling my head off. Anyway, I picked up a pkg of cookies and he grabbed it from me and yelled "I don't care if you have cancer, I said NO COOKIES!!!"
He had noticed people looking at me so he decided to give them something to look at, LOL!! I still laugh when I think of it
-
My DH is constantly rubbing my chemo curls on the back of my head. He doesn't even realize that he is doing it. It is very sweet when he does it and many people have commented about it. My hair was straight as a string before all this happened. On another note, I had my exchange yesterday. I now have real FOOBS. I also got the port taken out and the big dog ears taken off. Yea!!!!
-
I can't wait to get my port out - I need it till end of January, then I'm heading for vacation in February so hopefully I can get it out asap after my last herceptin.
-
Oh Marjie, you have one too?!?
That grocery store story is so something my husband would do! He used to call me the uni-boober! -
Kym I loved the fat face. It blew out all my wrinkles. I looked 10 years younger.
Carberry when I sent a picture of me in short hair to my mom it freaked her out. Yeah I look so much like her now. She mentioned it again when I was visiting last week. I'm not too upset though. My mom is a very pretty lady.
Other than the comment that I looked like darth vader when I lost my hair my husband didn't say much about how I looked. He pet my head a lot… still does. He did keep seducing me so I must of still looked good to him even when bald.
BTW today is 1 year NED (1 year from BMX) for me. Yes I'm bragging a little about that.
-
Congrats lago, on your one year anniversary!
-
BrandyB, I must say you look H-O-T in your avatar.
-
Cograts lago, you are an inspiration on this thread with your sense of humour and super positive attitude.
-
Congrats Lago and you brag away!

Hi Christine47
I was 18 weeks pfc yesterday. My hair looks a lot like dragonfly1's; about 1 inch long. I am trying to be patient but it is very hard and some days I get quite depressed about it. I did go topless once on the beach when I was on my holiday and just wore a hat quite a bit. I am going to the beach for a weekend on 10 September so will go topless again.
I am definitely looking into hair extensions.
Hope you are doing well with your hair and recovery after surgery.
-
Brag away Lago!! It's a great feeling isn't it? I'm not sure where to start my count....July 13 was my diagnosis, Aug 19 was my surgery last year.
-
I count NED which in my case was surgery. Some folks get NED with chemo if they do it first.
Thanks Racy that was really nice of you to say.
-
lago, i agree with racy. and congratulations on your one year NED!
-
Congrats, Lago!

sweetbean--bummer about the Nioxin having parabens. I am using it too. Does everything have parabens??? agh!

Any ideas on "SAFE" color for this grey/white mess I have coming in? I do not recognize the image that stares back at me when I look in the mirror. I hate it. I bought natural henna, but have not mustered the courage to use it...seems so complicated. HELP!
-
I found my old color that was an aburn brown went on too red. The color we use is more brown than my old color.
-
FL Warrior - the first color I tried was Natural Instincts, but I found it didn't cover so well. I have been using Revlon ColorSilk, it is ammonia free, cheap, and seems to work well. It was even rated #1 by Good Housekeeping, and it is like $3.50 a box. My stylist agreed I should use something ammonia free, and that there isn't really any sense in having him color it for now. Plus, all the professional stuff has ammonia in it - at his shop anyway. He said to be as kind to my hair as possible for the first year.
Henna, in my opinion, is a PITA, but all do it yourself hair color is to some extent.

Hi ladies,
Bikenyc I think your new avitar looks gorgeous you definelty should rock it girl.
Lago brag away that is awsome news
the husband stories are hilarious, my DH would do that too
Had number 20 of rads today only 13 to go, I see a light flickering at the end of the tunnel.
have a great long weekend girls
-
To get coverage i went to my stylist... When i used a l'oreal product it faded in like 2 days... I asked my stylist to color it whatever color was coming in... To cover the chemo white....She colored it ash blond with a touch of red...
-
bdavis I have been doing my own since May and I use dark ash blonde I think the ash keeps it from turning red.
-
Congrats on your one year NED lago!
-
Great news Lago!! I hope you dance!!!
I made myself an appointment with the stylist that will be 10 weeks PFC not quite sure what she will do with some white fuzz and stragglers.
-
Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to celebrate this weekend… and again on Tuesday my final Herceptin.
-
Ladies, I just bought two great hair magazines to get ideas about modern styles and colours: 'short hair', Fall 2011 is a US publication that includes 349 styles; 'Blonde Hair' June/July is from UK and claims to include 101 styles and 867 hair ideas. I highly recommend these types of mags if you are looking to try a new style and/or colour.
-
Congrats, Lago! Final herceptin - you must be thrilled! Make it a week-long celebration because you have earned it!
Michelle
