R    A    N  -  D!!!!! Oh yeah!!! Oh yeah!!! Oh yeah!!! Oh yeah!!! Oh yeah!!! Listen Ran, living on the edge is not all it's cracked up to be. So come away from it, and settle down and relax and be a bit relieved that the 'new normal' will be NORMAL!!!!!!!  Time to write an article, my friend..about cancer actually being a piece of cake, and how it is human fuck-ups that make journeys such as yours utterly devastating. Once again, I cannot believe it. Oh Ran. You are SO made to stay in this world with us!XXX    Otter, I am feeling that the current hair biz is far more stressful than the chemo-loss biz. What to do! What to do! How to wear it!   I tell you what, girls. I am sick and tired of waking up every morning the clone of Art Garfunkle c2009.   XXX

RanD- I am SO glad you are home although we were all clueless about the turmoil. I had a septic infection during chemo (PICC line got staph) and spent 9 days in patient- it is a really scary situation and like you, I didnt understand the gravity until it was over. My family did though and it was horrible watching the horrified expressions on their faces for those days!

Keep that doctor on your list in case of another episode that needs someone to listen!

TGIF- been a long week- we meet the new company President today in a company wide meeting!

Camping for the weekend and picking up Italy girl on Sunday!

WOW Rand! I'm so glad you are doing better. My prayers are still with you daulink!

Got a bit of good news yesterday. We got a small job todo next week. YAY! It might be about 2 weeks worth of work but thats better than nothing. I also put in an application to work evenings at blockbuster *sigh*. I guess it is better than nothing. I told hubs that if I get it, if my real job starts to pick up I am quitting and he agreed. I wonder how much longer this economy can go on like this.

Yesterday was my little guy's 8th birthday. We took off to cincy and spent the day. We visited the newport aquarium and the natural history museum to see the automated dinos. he wasn't too sure about the dinos. Granted they were HUGE, moved and growled at you. Very neat to see. My only complaint about them was that they charged $15 a person to get in and you had about 15 minutes of stuff to look at. They spread things far apart to make it seem like you were walking more. Maybe next time we'll get tix to see the entire museum and spend more time. Those are $38 a person. We decided to go ahead and come home instead of spending the night. Our hotel was about a 40 minute drive and home was a little over an hour. Its probably a good thing we came home, all of us slept in this morning including the little one who is normally up with the sunrise. He is still telling us today he had a great time, that's all that counts.

I was singing your name in the synagogue tonight during the healing prayer. Honestly, I hadn't been on to read in a while, but I usually sing all of your names and tonight...just Randie and Mary for her infection which has, I read, gone away. Words cannot describe my thoughts as they go out to you my dear Randie....know you are on my mind. Glad you are home. No wonder you were in a panic....can I please, please hold you for a while so you can feel safe enough to sleep and know you will wake refreshed? Sigh. Send my love to your family.

The rest of you...you all sound great except the one who is planning fairs in the rain. I hope business picks up Noelle and all toes heal and all colds are going away. Had an echo today along with herceptin. Countdown continues. Today was a good day. Love youall.

Randie - Holy C-RAP!!!  Thank goodness for a vocal dh and a persistent nurse!!  Your strength is truly amazing!!  Please know that we are sending love, hugs and positive energy your way to re-charge that strength.  Rest easy dear friend.

Eddie - LOL at the tampon comment  . . .I find them stashed in odd places all over the house, car & desk at work.  I also feel like I am trying to enjoy 2 summers in 1 and trying to balance that with slowing things down.  I look at every experience so different than before.

Roxi - Glad to hear the infection is gone.  It sounds as though you are Kerry are bouncing back well from the surgery - yeah!

I am headed out for a 4 mile run in 84 degree weather - whew!

    Love to all!

I just checked in after a week on the road and learned about Randie's ordeal.  Randie, I'm so glad you're home and this is behind you.  I think about you all the time.  But, of course, I had no idea what you were going through.

Hugs to you *and* your husband.  (Is he as funny when he rants as you are?)

Kristy, what was your daughter doing in Italy?  You probably posted something about it that I missed.  My daughter leaves for Italy and Germany on Monday . . . she'll be spending a month performing with an international choir program from the arts camp she's gone to the last three summers.  I hugged her good-bye this morning.  (They don't leave for Europe until Monday, but they're doing a small concert in Chicago this weekend, so today was the big departure day.)

It's feeling very strange to know that I'll be childless for the next month.

Jen, "YAY!" to putting in for a job at Blockbuster..look at it as a diversion, nothing else. "BOO!" to ANY museum/art gallery that charges admission. All the interesting shite should be free for the people..the ordinary, humble ones who appreciate interesting shite and put in for jobs at Blockbuster. "YAY!" for an enjoyable day with your boy. Super "YAY" for the two young blades moving the last of our stuff out of Drew's house today. I am not talking about a few small boxes of undies; I'm talking about enough 2nd-hand hardwood floorboards for a medium-size 3 bedroom house, a work-bench and a heap of other stuff that has been doing my head in. God bless them and every other angel-in-disguise. God bless Chip Cipperly, as well (and his family). Talk about Action Man! I think we can thank Chip for our Ran still being here. Today is a really good day. XXX

Hello my beautiful ladies! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

RanD how ya feeling my love?

Tex please check in with us and let us know u are doing ok.

We have had a massively busy few days. With my kiddos bday on thursday and his mini trip and then we got a new car out of the blue on friday! I've been driving the same car for 12 years. It ran beautifully and never any major problems. I told hubby if they would give me low enough payments then we could get something. I got the guy ,after many hours, down from 235 a month to 150 a month. Which is what I wanted. And I came home with a 2004 jeep liberty.  (pics on fb) I had another couple ask me if I stood there and cried to get that price. Told them nope... just prayed about it in the dealer and was stubborn. I'm so excited. I've always wanted a jeep wrangler anyways but right now that is not family friendly. So this one is close enough. Hubby named it frogger cause of it being green lol. he even offered for my bday to have a mp3 hookup added to it! Ok enough about the car lol. Today is also our 12 anny sure doesn't seem that long but yet, I canthardly remember him not being there.

Oh I forgot a small story about the aquairum.... hardly anything to get good pics of because it was so packed. We are almost to the end and come around the corner.... OTTERS! OF COURSE I had to get a pic of those... and we all know why :O). I'll post their pic on fb soon.

Have a great day ladies, all my love! Jen

Today is a really good day.  I am the only person awake because dh must fly all night tonight so has not been awakened for church this morning...

I have been very busy and scattered, discovering what retirement means for me, cleaning closets and getting rid of stuff.  Gave away most of my former work clothes because I won't be needing them and someone else does. It was funny seeing all those suits again--it feels like, "did I really wear stuff like this"? (As now it is likely to be workout togs or pajama pants and a tank)..

I find myself moving away from this site a bit--this has been my main thread for quite a while and I will probably always check in, but I just have too much to do, and am looking to the future so gratefully. A woman in my church was just diagnosed with breast cancer, she is only 44 and has a 3 yo daughter. I gave her my Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book and let her borrow my prayer quilt, have been answering her questions and showed her my reconstruction.  Her name is Donna and she is in that difficult not-knowing-what-the-plan-is-yet-but-researching-madly-and-scared stage if anyone has prayers to spare...

Hope all are fine with colds/allergies, lung bacteria (it's HELL when you have to MAKE the medical people treat you correctly) and all that I have missed.  Eddie, me too--and still processing the emotions from "this time last year"...

I love and miss all of you.

    Sue

My right shoulder was feeling the effect of this past week of travel - toting laptop, backpack, suitcase and assorted sundry items hither and yon, always on the right side, since the left is off-limits for that sort of thing - when I remembered Noelle's muscle mist.  I sprayed it on the sore area, and I swear, it feels better.  Placebo?  Magic?  Secret recipe?  Who knows!  I'm just very, very apppreciative of the gift.

Hope everyone is having a beautiful day.

Noelle, I'm with Linda on that one. In fact, I spray it on the inside of my jacket just so I can smell it all day..I LOVE the smell! We have a post-frost sunny day here and the house is so SILENT! I'm loving it, although it is 11am and I really should get out of the jamies. I slept on the couch last night as hub was sick and snoring and restless, and I had total sleep deprivation from the two cats. My hot flushes (which have been pretty good lately) kept waking me up..why? because one or both the cats were sleeping on me. At one stage I couldn't turn over because the big, fat hovercraft one was IN THE DOONA WITH ME. Sigh.  Well, it was a pretty cold night. My ribs are still a bit twingy and I still get those post-mastectomy 'fish-hooks' in various places, so I'm not sure I'll be back at work next week.  Jen! Well done on your car! Just the stimulation a gal needs. Love to y'all. XX  PS Sue, I only call in here now..nowhere else on the BCO site. I see the topics and I feel utterly disconnected from it all. I simply cannot deal with the cancer-juggernaught which just keeps rolling over people. Fecker.

Jen - Cool about the new car, way to stay stubborn and get your price!

I had a "new knockers and clean scan" gathering last evening that was a blast.  I spent the day prepping the food, house and yard - it feels good to feel good. :)  Took Dad to dinner for Fathers day . . .  all in all a great weekend.

Off to make home made ice cream - yum!

RadD - Thinking of you  (((((((((hugs)))))))))

Daughter was in Italy on an 11 day Educational Foundations Tour - kind of her reward for spending last summer babysitting her little brothers and Mom. Nan (my Mom) paid for the trip and Valerie saved up for her spending money. She is home safe and all is well- she had a WONDERFUL time! She is debating saving her money for the next year to go to Spain on next years trip!

Weekend was camping and total R&R- anywhere the cell phone doesnt work well and there is no computer is a vacation!

RanD and Donna - extra prayers going in for you!

Love you all. Thinking about RanD all the time... the store is still rough... but the rubber cheques I wrote on Friday did not bounce so far...which is a bloody miracle considering the debacle that was our weekend festival...

More at another time... still planning on Texas in October and hopefully Linda and I can get a meeting somewhere in these Great Lakes areas....

    Ladies,

Its so great to hear about kittens, cars, trips to Europe, musical choir trips. Noelle, keep us posted where in the great lakes you'll be.

Had another follow-up. The remaining drain just won't give up. Get to keep it yet another week. The only good thing about that is the fact that I can extend my time off from work, YES!

Off to take my daily nap....

Ran... does this mean the cancer has spread again? When you are up to it fill us in. You're in all of our prayers... xoN

Calling all breast cancer sisters .. can you do me a favor?  I know this is off the topic and I hope it's okay to post this but...I am trying to win a contest for my son (to meet his idol - Joe Perry, Aerosmith)... all you have to do is click on this link and click on the thumbs up icon to vote for our entry (legit site, legit contest, MOST deserving young man!)... can you please help me?  Just trying to bring a little joy into my son's life after all this depressing /chemo stuff... voting is only June 23-26... please vote?  It'll only take a second... help me bring joy to this boy! :)  Thank you so much!  P.S.  It says you can only vote once, but if you have more than one computer I think you can vote twice.. lol  We are only in second place by about 30 votes and voting ends Friday!!!

It's been quiet here...which is good I guess, we are all getting immersed in our daily lives !

It has been quite rainy and chilly here for the last little bit, so I did get my wish and the forests have gotten a much needed drink,  We will be heading out on our camping trip at the end of July so looking forward to that,  We are going to Waterton Lakes National Park then down into Montana to West Glacier National park. Have been to both places but our daughter was too young to remember so now we have to redo alot of our trips. Don't mind it is just beautiful there.

Just found out our son who is spending the summer where he went to school 8 hours away,,,lost his wallet. Of course with all id ,  DL, credit cards, and such , it just makes me feel bad I can't be there to help him get it all sorted out, And thinking if I was there i would probablly walk into his room which i know is a mess and find it right away.    Apparently he went to a movie and either it fell out or go swiped.    I know he is 20 and this will be a good lesson for him it's just hard to turn off the mom thing.

.  While my DH just shook his head and said ....it's probablly because he was wearing those stupid baggy pants with his wallet hanging out, no wonder !

Mary I hope your drain quits draining soon and they can yank it out !

Randi hoping everything is ok with you  !!

Everyone else have a wonderful Thursday.

    Cheers

    Happy Thursday Everyone!

Just checking in--not a lot going on here in KY--hot and humid with afternoon storms.  Been working a lot--have 40 hours of overtime on next paycheck! (12 hour shifts)  It's been rough, but it has been good too.  Guess I am trying to make up for lost time.  Everyone is amazed that I have so much energy--they don't see me when I get home and collaspe.

Space invaders are here part of the time.  DD doesn't like being here because we are pushing her to get a job, apartment, etc.  She would rather be with her trashy friends and not have to be responsible.  Took the girls from her last weekend and they stayed with our youngest DD--they had a blast and didn't want to come home.  Took several hours to get ahold of their mother and when she did finally come home, she wouldn't stay in the same room with us.  She may get surprised when she comes in next time and we have a drug test waiting for her.  Don't know what it is going to take to get her to get her life back together.  She had been doing so good, working, was a good Mom, and now that she is back here, she is hanging with all the "old" friends she ran with before she moved away, no desire to do anything.  I just keep praying.  The girls like helping me scrapbook--I show them the pictures of when they were babies and pics of when Papaw and me were little and share memories.  They pick put the paper for their pictures and what they want on them.  We have a lot of fun.   DD is still on time restrictions for the computer--her youngest told her, "That's because you stay on the computer all day, so Papaw had to ground you".   Okay, enough on the space invaders, just needed to rant a little.

Randie-Thinking of you, hoping that you are feeling good today.

Mary--Hope that the drains are slowing down.  I despised those things.

To everyone else--Love you lots and thinking of all of you today!

    Happy Thursday,

Drain, Mary, Drain -  how soon can you go back to work after the last one comes out?  Don't rush it, okay?

RanD - still there for you sister!

Jen - so glad your work has picked back up.

We are in the terrible humidity right now.  It was so nice and breezy in SC and we come back to this.  My dad is getting their pool ready.  Might be ready to go by Saturday.  That would be so nice.  I don't like going out in public in my swim suit.  I did do the beach thing, but figured I wouldn't see any of those people again.  We had a good time, but it is such a relief to have it over.  My SIL is one of those toxic sort of people, not necessarily regarding the bc thing, just everything in general.  Our condo was big enough for everyone to have their own space so that was good.  There were a few times when I was ready to leave, but didn't want to ruin things for my girls.  I guess we are trying to make up for lost time for last summer like so many of you mentioned earlier.

I hope everyone has a quiet and peaceful (Rock) weekend.

    Hugs - Julie

Help me win legit and give my son the thrill of a lifetime!  Please forward this to anyone who can click and vote today....Let's help one of the good guys win for once!!  By some miracle, can we catch him and pass him by 5p ?
