LIFE'S A BEACH!

Since Footie is so very eager to have a party...... I think we should start planning now for a super extravaganza tomorrow. Let's have our first big HUMP party!! What with Wednesday marking the middle of the week...... let's see what we can do to really wake up the beach with a festive frolic for HUMP-Day.
[No pre-humping allowed..... all humping to wait in anticipation: for Wednesday.]
And now for a picture that brought such joy to my heart, when I discovered it:
How quickly they grow up! Enjoy today, bunnies. Whatever's on the agenda. It's our only pre-hump-day-Tuesday of the week.............
-
Spar, thinking of you today. We will all be in your purse, so we will be close by if you need us.
I gotta go work out now, but I'll be back later today to talk more.
-
Thank you guys, so nice to know you all will be in my purse to give me strength, I am feeling all queasy and butterflyee. Will be looking forward to a beach party after my first day on the new job tomorrow. Have a feeling I will need a party. I will bring the drinks. Everyone have a great day on the beach. Love you all and thank you for your support. Is it going to be a halloween party or a regular beach party?
-
Such beautiful words written this morning. Makes me
love the beach so. And the picture Faith does say it all. I
remember the days when the kids were small. My grandson
is about the age of the child in the picture. I needed to
come here very much this morning.... had to catch a breath. We
had a flood in the downstairs bath. Husband was doing
his work clothes this morning, and it flooded the basement. He
works night shift, so I wasn't up yet. He woke me up looking for
the shop vac. He has cleaned the water up and gone to sleep. I
can only use our master bath till he can check out the pipes.

!
Special Sea glass Angels to watch over You & All Our Friends at the Beach that Need! OXOXO!!!!

Happy fun to everyone:
Mary Lou. Our beach really is a treasured destination by those who frequent it. It is an oasis in the midst of plumbing woes, sick kids, homework hassles, flat tires, ducks-who-are-bit, bank snaffus, teething grandchildren, diagnostic riga-ma-role, aches & pains, rowdy neighbors, insurance hassles, wobbly ramps, cars that forget how to be dependable and all of the rest of the less than paradise-like realities that we contend with. Somehow contending with it all, here together, makes the contending so much more enjoyable.
I'm so happy that you're a regular here, you bring so much cheer. (Yes, I'm aware that rhymes -- I just couldn't resist myself.)
I've been thinking a lot about how these boards work...... and how they "don't work" at times. From my approxomate 6 months of interaction here/on the boards, I've observed how separate threads emerge and collect 'like-minded' folks who post -- on that subject, in support of that person etc.
Before you know it, you're in a junior high cafeteria at lunch: a table for the cheerleaders, a table for the nerds, a table for the band-geeks and then the new kid in town is searching for a spot of welcome..... How do we respond?
It would be my greatest delight that the beach welcome those who need the oasis of these views and the creativity here -- some just for a brief splash and others to take up permanent residence.
As you can see, I have on my 'rose-colored' sunglasses today. OK off my soapbox for the day.
If you're a regular reader here, I saw welcome aboard!!
**It just dawned on me that our first Wed-HUMP party will also be Oct. 1st. Quite a party-palooza, indeed. There are lots of other (some HILARIOUS) threads discussing the pinkwashing of our marketing..... we'll let those threads tackle the tough issues. This is a flat out beach HUMP party, and I think we should save Halloween for a tad bit later.........

faithandfif... ~So true...we should take that time to schedule our family. Its so easy day to day to hold it for the future holidays but what about a "just because" gathering. A BBQ or movie night ? You've inspired me to do just that...not that I've never done it before, it just reiterates priorities once again.
JulZ ~ What a wave...picking up the golden hue..looks like sheets of gold intertwined.
Sahalie~ I made your zucchini bread and it was fabulous! Nothing like hiding a veggie in for the kids! They loved in at it was an awesome after school before practice snack.
footprints ~ Your so kind...and yes a beach/hump day sounds perfect.
dreamwriter ~ Are you gambling or taking in a few awesome shows ?
Lisa ~ yet, another beautiful photo for the beginning of the day...
Spar ~ Sweet spar...you sound like you have a busy day, good for your mind and soul.
Celia ~ Any better today ??? Nothing like a toothache to pound your head!
Mary-Lou ~ Water water everywhere...toss some sand and grab an umbrella, your DH will think you've lost it ...only we can relate!

Luv: I'm actually attempting to 'work' at my computer today & it's going to be very difficult if it's splattered with my dripping tears.
All three of these images are touching, but the final of the three has truly effected me.
Thank you.

'Christ of the Abyss'
A two ton, eight and a half foot bronze
sculpture, 'Christ of the Abyss' is one of
three copies of an original statue by Italian
sculptor Guido Galletti. It was originally
designed for Italian SCUBA entrepreneur
Egidi Cressi and was then donated to the
Florida State Park Service in 1965 to honor
the conservation efforts in the creation of
America's first underwater park, John
Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key
Largo, Florida.
The statue sits in twenty-five feet of water
near Dry Rocks, about six miles northeast
of Key Largo Cut. It is one of the most
famous underwater sites in the world.Awwww sweet faithandfif...didn't mean to make you cry and disrupt your work...isn't is beautiful?
Miracles under the sea....

Spar,
Thinking of you and sending BIG HUGS your way!!!

Warm and friendly words spoken about this wonderful thread The Beach this morning.
It truly is a peaceful refuge created by a gentle soul who in her own pain and suffering
was treated so horribly by the worst possible type of hatred allowed on a Breast Cancer
support board.
She was maligned. She was chosen by a less than worthy human to be the sacrificial
lamb for some reason.
She was poked. prodded. called hurtful names and cast out from even posting to defend
her reputation and her gentle demeanor.
So she was instructed by the board to go and create her own thread.
She complied.
She created a peaceful place and invited others who need support. care and to share in some
happiness.
You can read her gentle words and welcome in the beginning of this thread at the top of
each page.
In the interim the malcontent made sure the creator of this beautiful thread got banned
for good.
This is a Breast Cancer support board. So many of us wonder how this type of unfair bias
can take place here on such a universal board. We still wonder as it still happens.
The Beach because of a beautiful Shining Shell who created this thread can read here but she is
still not allowed to post here. This is shameful. Shameful.
So. Many of the posters here keep this thread intact as the place of peaceful friendship that
it was created to be.
Those who come here walk all sorts of paths. All have been welcomed that do not have
malicious on their agenda. They are easy to spot. They stand out.
I have had many wonderful back and forth conversations with warm and amazing people here.
The tide has changed a bit but with the new caring people who join in. the Beach will remain
as our Shining Shell meant it to be.
I applaud the friends who have stood by our Shining Shell. Here. There. Everywhere.
She is so worth it. We have lost some very special people along the way as the tide
has changed. We miss them so very much.
I believe that everything happens for a reason.
And if we get a chance to friendship and happiness, take it.
If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said that it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
Shining Shell. You and this thread of LIFE'S A BEACH are worth it.
Thank you Shining Shell. Let us never forget this woman who right along with us has gone
through cancer and pain.
This is the reason we keep this thread healthy and alive. For HER. For you. me and for those
yet to wander happily onto the BEACH.
Thank YOU Shining Shell.
Love Always for inviting me to this Beach when you still had a voice here.
In Friendship * Sahalie
Edited to add a touch more Thanks.

I really hate when I read things like the post above. I don't know what happened. I dont know the parties involved. We are supposed to be supportive to all that come here. So who hasn't been? Why the big long blurb? I feel like I have to pick sides and I dont know how to do that.
I thought that all were welcome at the beach but it appears not. Who is the malcontent? Is it me? Maybe I am not welcome here. I thought I was....
I am so confused.
-
Blessings come in all shapes and colors. sizes and beauty.
-
My post was to say thanks. And as one of our dear posters who has been here a lot longer than I told me not long ago that to say Thanks is something nice we can do to show our appreciation to creativity.
Play in the sand and be happy. Shovels and buckets. Starfish and Shells.
Yimminie.
-
Beautifully spoken, Sahalie. You have shown the true heart and soul of the beach. It is a lovely, calm place for everyone to gather and help each other feel good. Just to dig our toes into the warm sand and enjoy the sounds of gentle waves lapping on the beach. And have a little party now and then.
Dreamwriter, everyone is invited to enjoy the beach. There are no sides to choose. But if someone comes here with a hidden agenda to cause trouble, we would prefer they go elsewhere. It is a big board, with plenty of room for all. Just put on your flip flops, pull up a beach chair and enjoy the day.
I am so happy that the beach has stayed the way Angel intended. She can read, so she can keep up with all of you.
Peace be with you all.
-
sahalie has said it all so well....thanks to our fleeting Angel who created a beach haven....
I am going to the dentist today for my hurriedly-arranged appt for the crowned tooth that HURTS. My scalp incision (a bit over an inch long) still hurts a lot and together the 2 painful areas are making things hard to do. Thanks all for asking about this. I do think my scalp hurts a bit less this morning....progress!
spar, wishes for strength today for you to get thru this difficult time. Faith has said some wonderful and inspiring words to you. I am thinking of you today and of all you do for others. Spar i am so sure that your co-workers-to-be will love you as we do. I will be in your purse today along with the others, with a big gauze bandage on my head and a ball cap on.
hi to everyone....gotta go rush now....bbl
-
This sums up how I feel these days....joyous, excited and open to life.
I'll be on my island in 28 days ! Joyous.

Hey Beachie Kids!
Seems life has given me more time this week than I expected! I am grateful for that.
Big hugs to Spar & all who face difficulty today----funny that F&F mentioned the cafeteria today. DD came home after a huge dusting with other cast members from the play; seemed one of the girls did her damnedest to "diss" my kid. DH & I spent some time talking to her about it & how life IS like the cafeteria! No matter how old we get there will always be ppl we don't like or don't like us. It just, hopefully, becomes more "civilized" between adults! But Everyone has a past & a history & often the ppl who are the most prickly or abrasive are the ones who need our understanding most (even if we could EASILY zing them) So I find it odd AND comforting to see that post here after our little talk with our girl.
I am grateful for the wisdom & patience that seems to increase with age (Not a lot else about AGE makes me as happy!! LOL) I have learned to stay calm in the face of conflicts & to do my best to find something to respect in EVERYONE------hope I can maintain this view when another teenager climbs over my beloved dd!!! LOL----How to teach: don't react immediately, but breathe deep, take your time & WAIT for calm & clear thought b4 you do?????
I am grateful for the beach as an escape from some of the realities we'd rather avoid........ HUGS all--be well & stay strong!
-
spar,
Sorry to hear about your uncle's passing. Also, want to wish you luck on your job tomorrow!!
Hugs

It does not take much, just a few words, or a small gesture,
to spread some light in someone's world.
So worth repeating.
Love the Sea Horses Lisa. Soothing. Saint. Perfect analogy.
Loves and sea shells glistening for all to see.

I have a strange mind that creates silliness without my bidding---This came to me in the night:
There once was a woman, Sahalie
Who wanted to go visit Bali
But things as they are
Said that that was too far
So they packed up & all went to Maui
