Ok: gradually crossing over here. Can't yet bring myself to tell you what I'm eating for real, but wanted you to know it's motivating to "consider" telling you my choices. LOL
I will tell you that I'm daily drinking a big glass of V8 juice for breakfast. My one assurance of veggies for the day. AND
yesterday & today I had delicious fresh cherries!! So two healthy things I'm proud to report.
congrats to all who are being honest here.........

Snack: organic chocolate (200 calories worth)
Dinner: stir fry of assorted greens, mushrooms, baby bok choy, chicken breast; brown rice

Ate a bit too much today but not feeling terribly guilty about it. Certainly got plenty of vegetables!
Faith- welcome. Feel feel to semi-lurk
for as long as you need to but also feel free to log what you are eating- it's a really useful process to actually put it in print. Think of this, none of us would recognize you if we ran into you on the street (plus are streets are pretty far away from each other).
Kim where are you? Fumi you too? Ulla- the 18,000 steps, 2 hour work out sounds impressive. Was this on a machine? Tina- seems like you are doing well with the portion control. I notice no vegetables and fruits in some of your menus. Do you not like them? Hope this question is not too intrusive- please understand that I am a fruit and vegetable addict/ nutrition nazi and can't help myself. LOL
-
Okay, I confess to veggie aversion. I do TRY but am not always successful. I just gain no satisfaction from eating them, no matter which ones and how they are prepared unless there is a cheese sauce or some other such thing!!! Nothing satisfies me until I have something bready, but GOOD bready. I can have a slice of good rye bread with butter and be happy for half a day but eat a load of other stuff and keep on eating because I am not satisfied. I don't really understand the dynamics here............
BUT, I have been pretty good in general:
Thursday, June 5: the usual Cheerios breakfast, yadda yadda. Supper was gee, I cannot remember.
Friday, June 6:
Breakfast: the usual Cheerios, etc. but also ORANGE JUICE!
Lunch: Smart Ones pasta primavera frozen dinner only 280 calories and VERY satisfying!
Supper: Italian sausage and red pepper/mushrooms, all sauteed together, bruschetta made with freshly chopped tomatoes and Vidalia onions with olive oil/Balsamic vinegar, glass or two of dry Champagne for a treat
Bad snack: 1/2 a can of potato sticks. I especially love shaking the can to find the longest ones. DH and I vie for them. It's somewhat of a game.

Due to the consideration of posting my actual food selections here for all to see, I made a good choice last night! One good choice.
I asked the waiter to substitute the vegetable medley for the curley fries on my menu's selection.
Go ahead and applaude. I felt like I'd scaled a mountain with that one, simple substitution...... and it was delicious. I loved the bright green broccoli the best.
Here's to more good choices.
-
faithand, you're right. Thinking about posting here makes you stop and think twice. I guess we all need a little more than an inner cop. LOL

Sunday, June 8th
I lost track yesterday - the short version is that I ate A LOT, after exercising A LOT. Biked 14 miles, ran 2+ miles, and swam a little. Had dinner with my extended family cooked by my daughter who is a fabulous cook- asparagus, zucchini, salad of fresh local greens, chicken breast with caper, shallot, etc. marinade, sauce, fantastic bread dipped in olive oil (have I mentioned that I love food- LOL). Oh, and key lime pie and an ice cream sandwich.
Today Sunday 6/8 so far:
Breakfast: oatmeal with raisins and pumpkin (thanks again for the tip Kim!!), almond milk, coffee with oatmilk
Snack: 1 c blueberries, 1/2 c lowfat plain yogurt, 1 t honey, black tea
Lunch: chicken and greens stir fry, brown rice
Snack: 3 Newman's chocolate sandwich cookies, 1/2 c All Bran cereal, 5 prunes, almond milk, blk tea, green tea
Dinner: nori roll w/ shrimp and avacado
Ulla I like to eat the same things over and over again too- make it simple and certain foods I never get tired of. I bet you have some fantastic places to walk. I'd love to see a photo (or 10) if you are ever inspired to post one. Faith- that's how it starts, one good choice at a time! Tina, nice to see you! I see a couple of vegetables snuck in under the radar over the last couple of days LOL.

Hi fellow diet buddies,
Sorry I've been MIA but working full time with 3-5 hours extra hours followed by a 4.5 miles walk + 45 minutes workout everyday leaves me very little energy and time. I have been keeping the food journal and staying under 1200 kcal. But I'm afraid that I'm hitting a plateau. Lost 6.6 lb's in the first week but took two weeks to lose next 1.76 lb's. Not sure what's wrong but I'm betting it's Tamox and Lupron. I'm sure with this hard working on a diet, I could have lost way more if my hormone hadn't been messed up!

Sunday Breakfast: Cheerios/11 oz. skim milk, 4 oz. oj, coffee/2 Splenda and lt. cream
Brunch: Swiss cheese omelet, 2 slices home-made cin/raisin bread, buttered, 1 breakfast sausage, 6 oz. oj (We went out to a local place for a treat.)
Lunch: nothing today
Supper: about 4 oz. beef tenderloin, grilled outside, serving peas, milk
Treat: glass Champagne
P.S. Do the grapes in the Champagne count as a serving of fruit??? LOL
-
Hi girls,
I was out of town for a few days..sorry! (thanks for missing me though)
Today:
Breakfast: 3/4 c. oatmeal w/1 tsp. low-sugar apple pie filling, 2 tbsp. wheat germ, 1 tbsp. raisins and dash of cinnamon
AM Snack: Orange
Lunch: 1/2 Turkey and cheese sandwich w/lettuce and mustard on whole wheat; Sun Chips; 10 baby carrots with 1 tsp. ranch; iced tea
PM Snack: Nature Valley Fruit and Nut granola bar; banana
Dinner: Tuna patty on 1/2 bun; steamed broccoli; noodles; iced tea
Dessert: 1 tbsp. chocolate brownie ice cream; bunch red grapes
Exercise: Leslie Sansone 4-mile DVD (55 min.)
-
Hi Tina,
I would think that the grapes in the champagne would count as least 1/2 serving fruit LOL!!!
-
Monday Breakfast: Cheerios and milk and oj. I, also, like eating the same thing day after day so I don't have to think about the mechanics of eating. Plus, I like Cheerios.
Lunch: slice of leftover cold pizza, milk
Snack: mini ice cream sandwich (about 1/4 the usual size)
Supper: 1/2 a BMT Subway grinder. No tomato because of the outbreak of salmonella. Not a tomato to be seen in these parts. Milk.
LOTS of ice water and iced tea all day long!
Thanks for the support, Kim.

Hello everyone and Kim- good to "see" you again. Now it is my turn to go out of town- we are leaving for Las Vegas in the morning. Plan to go right to the Valley of Fire before we go to our Ranch/Spa where my husband's conference is. If you are curious check it out in Google images. I don't know if I will be logging my food or not. I am not planning a big eating binge by any means but I don't know exactly what my routine will be. BTW- that pumpkin oatmeal is really good made ahead and eaten cold, it's almost like a pudding. I was thinking of trying it with a little molasses added.
-
Oh, oh, is this a manifestation of the saying, "While the cat's away the mice will play?" LOL. I am still in Las Vegas. Totally enjoying the spa, complete with lap pool and all sorts of other lovely amenities. I haven't been food logging but I have stuck pretty closely to my usual eating routines helped by there being a Whole Foods within walking distance. I've enjoyed a few treats in moderation, cheeses at a cocktail party for my husband's training event last evening, for example, but nothing I feel bad about. We'll see what the scale says when I weigh myself at home on Sunday morning. Hope to see all you fellow food loggers soon
. Allyson

HaHa. You are right! "Oh, boy, she's gone. Let's grab some chips and a beer............"
Actually have been eating just about the same thing every day and am pretty sick of typing it. Yesterday, however, I went out for lunch with a girlfriend and we ate at a favorite place that does a nice cup of soup and piece of quiche lunch. Everything is homemade and delicious! Here's what I had:
Cup thick, creamy corn chowder, piece tomato/spinach quiche, half-slice sweet, buttered oatmeal bread, cup of black tea w/1 sugar. Just heaven.
I even skipped supper because I was so satisfied from the lunch!
A Whole Foods in Las Vegas? This approaches oxymoronic.
-
What, are we all starving ourselves because our leader is away? LOL
I've been eating more veggies: salads, stuff on burgers, etc., just generally sneaking them in. I think tonight we're having fish and I'll make another salad. I tend to buy salad material and end up throwing most of it away as I hate making salads and time goes by and it gets soft and yucky. Now, with the high price of food, I am vowing to USE IT UP and not waste food.
-
Well...it was outside of Vegas technically. Tina- I am in awe of your vegetable eating...while the cat was away no less, LOL. A great big gold star coming your way! I am home as of Saturday night and eating a lot of vegetables as usual. I will get back into my regular logging and visiting here as soon as I get out from under my appointment book and to-do lists. Also need to get out from under the big pile of vegetables and strawberries from our farmshare...oh woe is me...not
. I ate arugala salad with assorted radishes at lunch and dinner today, along with THE BEST blue cheese I have ever tasted in my life- raw milk cheese made not far from here. It's all over between me and the dairy case at the supermarket now that I have tasted the real deal! I invited my mom along to pick the strawberries with me. Ironically we both had backaches before we started picking and wondered if it was such a good idea. It was and the backache is pretty much gone today. I had a big pile of strawberries with a little maple syrup on them for breakfast.
Ulla, Kim, Fumi, missing your smiling faces and fantastic food logs.

Went with a group of friends yesterday to another friend's home out of state. We arrived around 11 AM. I had had a bowl of oatmeal with raisins for breakfast and was expecting lunch, either in or out. Unfortunately, we got some munchies and dip and cookies and muffins. I was starving so sat around and kept my mouth shut and ate junkfood.
We did have a proper-ish supper there of tuna/apple salad on a half Italian grinder roll with tomato and Swiss cheese, broiled. A nice salad of greens with slivered almonds, dried cranberries, shredded cheese of indeterminate variety, raspberry dressing. Water. Coffee and a cookie later.
When I arrived back home around 9:30 PM, I had a beer.
Today, I shall be good. Started with coffee/2 Splenda, lt. cream, smashed fried egg on slice of toast. Black tea w 1/2 tsp. sugar so far this AM.
I think I shall have a Slim Fast for lunch. LOL
-
Ok, I am on board. I need to lose a couple of lbs too. Thanks ......I have not ate to much today.
Breakfast: Half a grapefruit, this slimming tea, with splenda.
Lunch: A salad with Lots of veggies. tom, broccoli, peppers etc.
with a low fat wine vinaigrette.
Dinner: A small pasta, with olive oil and garlic dressing.
had a applesauce for a snack.....

Where is Allyson? Okay, I hope???
-
Tina- Thanks! I've been overly busy with work, a class, triathlon training, and other summer events. Food logging has fallen by the wayside for the time being. Too bad because I have been eating a lot of great vegetables from our farmshare- lots of greens, radishes, and strawberries. I'll be back to logging when my schedule allows but for right now I'll just be popping in now and then. How is your diet/diet change going? Others out there???
-
Girls, I am going to bare my soul because..............confession is good for the soul, right? Hah! Well, I shall get it off my chest, if not my hips.
Yesterday, aside from the normal, boring and healthy food I ate all day, I had THREE BIG Italian cookies from a specialty bakery. You know, the ones they serve at weddings, etc. Soooooo good and lovely sense of debauchery while eating. A little remorse after.
Then, I went to knitting with the girls and one of them brought in this amazing strawberry concoction. Sliced strawberries mixed in with a blend of Cool Whip and that stuff that's like cream cheese but isn't and some cake-y stuff on the bottom. Of couse, she doled out huge helpings and we all ate it so we wouldn't hurt her feelings. Kind of like at gunpoint, ya know. That's my excuse.
I doubt I'll eat much today. Just my cereal/milk/oj for breakfast with lots of straight up iced tea the rest of the day. I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy.
I hope you are all doing MUCH better than I am.
-
Hi girls,
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. We are in the process of moving, and life has been very busy too with taking my kids to swim lessons, summer activities, etc. I hope to be back on soon! Hope everyone is well
-
Kim, good luck with the move. I've been busy too- triathlon training, work, getting ready to go on another trip later this week. I don't work full time and there still aren't enough hours in the day! I did log my food in my paper log today- been a bit lax in this department and want to get back on track. Still eating lots of lovely veggies and local food from our farm share. I am heading there again tomorrow for another carload. Tina, Ulla, Fumi, Shelly, hope you are all doing well. Ebb and flow of different activities is the norm in life. I bet I'll be here typing away like mad again once the cold weather returns and I am semi-housebound again, Okay- I am going to drive that image out of my mind this instant.
-
Did you all see yesterday's news about food logging? (Hmmm. Sounds so PLAID.) Anyway, the gist of it was that people who recorded everything they ate every day lost on average of twice as much weight as those who did not.
A word to the wise. Maybe buy a lovely notebook to jot down all your morsels.
-
Hi my fellow diet sisters! Finally got some time to post here.
It's been 2 months since I decided to stay under 1400 kcal (that's my BMR) and started doing a 4.5 miles walk and a 40 minutes cardio workout (Turbo Jam Cardio Party Mix 1) in the middle of May. Guess what? As of today, I have lost 17.64 lb's!!! I'm even slightly thinner than I was before cancer and getting to the point where all my pants are feeling too big for me. It's an amazing feeling that I dug into my closet to find my old pants that I used to wear before cancer and it fitted me just right.
When I started this, my initial goal was to lose 22 lb's within a year. Now it's only been 2 months and I've almost achieved it so I'm aiming at losing another 11 lb's till the end of the year. It was not an easy job but I did. And if I can do this, I am sure everyone can do this too! So keep up the good work and don't ever lose hope! Let's keep on keepin' on!
xo
