Everyone stay safe through Irene. - we fortunetly escaped this one , enjoying a rather nice breeze from her though.
HAOOY WEEKEND
-
Towhee - yes we a holding up in our house. Wind and rain but still have power. Lights have been flickering every now and then but still have power. There are over 66K in my county without power...we have been lucky so far. Hugs all around. mouse

Hoping everyone is ok from Irene without damage as well. Hearing from my sis & family in Upstate NY Schoharie County area, its terrible bad with Flooding and they are worried the Gilboa Dam might breech, my sis lives on VERY high ground so her mome will not flood, but she owns a bar on main street and that entire street in under water, lots of other family/friends who were forced out and in shelters, feel so bad for them.
On the DD & SIL note- IDIOTS, Landen wanted to call this AM to make sure we were up to come and get him & Ella (that was WONDERFUL) surprised DD even let him do that, but he says to me ME-MA we have a puppy- sure enough they do, SIL posted a pic, its a PIT-BULL looks like maybe a mix with something else, now I am not gonna bash the pit-bull, I know a lot has to do with the owners- AND THERE YOU HAVE IT, they can't feed themselfs, thet can not potty train Landen, yet they got a dog. And as good as Margo is with children, she sometimes gets edgy when they get going - UGH DID I SAY IDIOTS. I know no one can see SIL FB any longer, but I can with DD's login, his mom (the druggie that she is) laid into themm, calling them pathetic crack heads thta just call and borrow money, idiots for getting a dog - I have never met the woman and don't ever care to, but glad she was able to say what I am thinking and can't
-
Cathi, you are doing brilliantly. I'm so glad you had a few moments of joy with Landen and Ella. You and Ed are beacons of love and consistency in their lives, even though you don't see them much. They can see that not all adults are neglectful and useless.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that they got a dog! Why do so many people in their situation, who can't even look after themselves, get a pet?! And of course, it's usually a pitbull, a rotty or some other breed that, if not trained correctly, will become a dangerous brute - poor animals - they can't help it - it's their cruel and stupid owners who are responsible.
Loving thoughts to you all,
Jane oxoxo
-
Exactly Jane, thats my fear for the dog and of coarse it's breed tends to be a bit agressive, the picture it looks to be several months old, not an adult but not a 8wk pup either, apparently it was GIVEN AWAY, so that makes me wonder and an animal raised in an agressive home, well tends to become agressive, they live on the second floor, so I expect after just a few days taking the pup out will be a problem, and I would bet my life on it they did not pay the pet deposit for it- Idiots thinking they can hida a pitbull.

Lilly Rose in a big grown up (baby) bed!

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo SWEET

Everything about that photo is adorable - the dear little blond head on the big pink pillow, the cute cover and the "big girl" bed! oxox

The pictures & phone calls are rolling in from back home, so sad for my family and friends, my sisters home was spared she lives high atop a hill, her son not so lucky. But their bar was under water, of coarse insured, but will take a long time to clean-up and get back on track, in one bit of good MIRACLE NEWS, my dear dear wonderful aunt Rosemary (86yrs lives alone ) had to be eveacuated, and we all thought for sure her home where she has lived for 60yrs would be gone - it's right on a creek that has flooded before in spring thaws was spared, the basement washed out, the driveway and yard, her house was spared inside- A MIRACLE, when her daughter told me I had the clearest vision of my uncle smiling in my head ( he had the best smile) saying I PROTECTED HER, an old farm house full of lots of memories spared. With luck no injury to any family/friends. One friend has lost a cat, hoping just hiding, they were forced into a shelter (no pets) they put their dog & cat upstairs on second floor, when they were allowed in today dog was fine no sign of the cat, they lost their entire house too.
-
Cathi - what a huge relief and a miracle that your relatives are safe. It must have been a dreadful storm and I hope that's the last of its kind.
-
Was just thinking haven't seen anything from Shelia on here or FB since Irene went up through - Shelia let us know you are ok
-
I'm fine, I live far enough inland that we didn't get any rain from the system. We only got some breezes all weekend. Sorry to make you worry about me. My niece is stationed in Norfolk, she said they got lots of rain and the power went out briefly.
Sheila
-
Glad to hear that Shelia, I went through your page after I made this post and saw where you had been on Saturday, made me feel better - glad all is GOOD.
So on a completely diff rent note ladies , I just watched a documentary called ORGASM INC, saw it in NETFLIX listing and looked int resting, and hey I am 51 with just a bit of stress in my life so thought WHAT THE HELL. OMG, Pretty interesting, as far as Pharmacy CO creating DISEASE to make $$$$$$, and now in the US there are 200 clinics that do GENTILE COSMETIC SURGERY - GROSS, called it the DESIGNER VAGINA - OMG, it wasn't a gross show at all, nothing nasty, but WOW, don't know what else to say, Proctor & Gamble was trying to push a patch with Testosterone in it + you would also have to take mega doses of Estrogen - CRAZY, actually a good watch.
-
Mother of God!
We have caught the "tail end" of your hurricane. Winds of 80 miles per hour, sheeting rain ....
I thought I might end up in Kansas ...
Hope you are all well - I'm too frightened to go out and look at the damage in my back garden.
take care lassies.
Nettie xxx
-
Oh, Nettie! Be safe. Let us know how your garden is after the craziness ends.
-
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. That being said, mastecomy isn't so terrible. I've had breast cancer twice, 9 years apart, and had a lumpectomy the first time and bilateral mastectomy the 2nd time. I do think you should speak with you doctor though about having a sentinel node biopsy. This is extremely common in the U.S. but maybe less so in the U.K. The usual procedure here was to have the sentinel node biopsy where they only take between 1 - 3 nodes. These are then tested to see if they are cancerous (this is usually done the day of and during surgery) and then if any are, they would go back in at the time of surgery and take lots more. But a recent study came out showing that they don't even have to do that any more. Having only the sentinel node(s) taken will greatly improve your recovery so it's worth discussing. Wishing you luck with your upcoming procedures. We've all been there and you're doing fine.

Just a quick pop in to say hi and send LOVE TO ALL, Nettie hope the garden did not endure much damage, thankfully Florida has sailed through hurricane season thus far, it is ofically over the last of November, hope Mother Nature keeps that in mind.
Life goes on as usual with the family, no MAJOR DRAMA from DD & SIL, same old same old, he normally hides when we pick-up or drop off children , aside from an exchange of words about the children, they ate, they didn't eat etc Amanda and I do not speak. It is what it is, their FB is VERY QUIET, however through the grape vine have heard they are nearing eviction at the new place, the dog is not supposed to be there, the breed is not allowed, and even if it were to big, and they also did not pay the requied pet deposit, so anyway nothing really new to report, a day at a time.
Had a ruff spell with some back/hip pain so over did the asprin (trying not to take scripts - DUHHHHHHHH) I guess I won't be doing that again, pain has leveled out again so able to maintain on Naproxen & Tramadol
Hope you all are doing well, LOVE & CYBER HUGS - XOXOXOXOXOXO
-
Thanks for the update on the goings on Cathi. Sorry you had that pain but glad it is once again under control.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

HI MY DEARS
BEEN IN HOSP FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, BLOODY BOWELS NOT WORKING! I AM TO GO BACK NEXT WEEK (I THINK - PKISTANI DOCTOR WAS HARD TO DISCERN) FOR A SCOPE UNDER GENERAL ANAETHESTIC. HOME NOW AND COMFORTABLE, IF STILL BACKED UP!! THANKS CANCER - YOU NEVER STOP GIVING!!!
YEAH CATHI, GARDEN WAS A BIT CHEWED UP - I THINK THE LID OF MY COMPOSTER MIGHT BE IN NORWAY, BUT NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. ROOF IS INTACT, THAT'S THW MAIN THING. GOD LOVE ALL OF YOU WHO BORE THE BRUNT OF THAT FORCE OF NATURE, WE CAUGHT IT AS IT WAS BECOMING SPENT.
NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS CATHI. THE EEJITS WILL BE EEJITS UNTIL THEY CEASE TO BE EEJITS. SILLY BILLY IS A CONFIRMED EEJIT, BUT AS LONG AS HE IS NOT AN OFFENSIVE, OBSTRUCTIVE EEJIT, THEN THAT MIGHT BE THE BEST TO HOPE FOR. HIS WIFE IS SO TOTALLY DAZZELLED BY HIM THAT THE INFECTION ON BEING AN EEJIT HAS SPREAD.
HOPE YOU ARE STILL SEEING AND CARING FOR THE KIDS.
HOPE OF OF YOU ARE HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SMILING!
LOADS OF HUGS

Oooo Nettie being backed up is a real pain and I feel for you girl! Glad to hear that you are home at least and I guess they will try to find out what the cause is...other than cancer......when they do the scope. Good luck on that one!
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
NETTIE, So sorry - thats a CRAPPY WAY TO FEEL - Sorry thought you might get a chuckle, heres hoping there are no real problems, I had a horrible issue about a year after DX, thats when I had my first scope, found a couple polyps (B-9) diverticulitous, before the prep on the tummy scans the DR said I was backed up to China, anyway the prep cleared me out, still have issues from time to time, think it's just a part of womanhood, BC , age and of coarse meds, not sure if you can get it over there but MIRLAX (I actually buy a cheaper knock off now) helps a great deal to keep things SOFTER if you know what I mean.
Feel better sunshine - XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
-
Nettie, what did they do for you in the hospital to move you? They sent you home still backed up????? How will they scope you if you're backed up? I ask so many questions as that is one of my biggest griefs right now. I have 'narcotic gut' where my bowels are basically paralyzed. I used Sennokat-S 2 per day at night, 2 stool softeners in the morning, and have yohurt with bran buds in them every day as well. I get pretty excited when I can move anything!
Cathi, why does Jaclyn say she is a single mom on FB????
-
I too struggle with "moving" things along, especially when I am on any antibiotic or pain meds. I do the stool softener thing, but what I have really found that has helped me is a daily diet of exercise. This is one of my "gifts" as I like to say from being dx'd. I did play tennis and walk a few times a week prior to treatment, but now those are almost my secondary activities since I have added pilates twice a week, personal training twice a week and water aerobics once a week. I exercise every day and on my "days off" I still walk 3 to 4 miles. I know it might sound like a lot, but I built up to this slowly and I have never felt better in my life. And, it has surely helped with my "moving things along". I am 66 years young and I believe my cancer has added to my life. Not preaching, just telling you what has worked for me. There is nothing more miserable than being backed up.
Caren

Caren, I am so happy for you!!! I have skeletal and nerve issues that do not allow me to be as mobile as you. I have found that when I use my cane too much, my wrist aches, as I use it for support, the real use, and not just to look like an old person clicking along the side-walk!! My walker still requires me to use two arms, so better than one, but again, the weight support on my wrists begins to give me new problems. As my electric scooter will not benefit my pain management except for easing it while I use it, I do not think we can consider it a weight loss tool.
-
I am so sorry Barbe, I had no idea you were dealing with so many physical issues. Of course my routine is not an option so I guess you have to continue with senokat, etc. and eat lots and lots of fiber. I guess the opposite is true too that you should stay away from foods that bind, but I am sure you know that. I hope you can find the magic potion that will keep you regular.
-
Caren, I eat a cup of bran buds a day along with all the other roughage I eat trying to break up the bulk. Even a prescription of Lactulose (horrid orange stuff - and I normally like orange) does not help! I take HUGE amounts of narcotics for those pain issues you now know about.
Just be cautious when you post if you are not familiar with the regular posters. Most of us here, for example, know each others limitations by now as it is such an old thread. There are terrific exercise threads that would LOVE to hear your regime!
-
Barbe, I'm not on that much in the way of pain meds, and I know they are hard to overcome, so I don't know what works. Given that, I have found that eating a big bowl of oatmeal for breakfast is a big help. The soluble fiber in it keeps things soft while encouraging peristalsis. You can even just cook up oat fiber and it tastes the same as oatmeal. I add berries, nuts, seeds, cinnamon, etc. to vary the flavor, but I am one who enjoys oatmeal anyway. I use half-and-half and real maple syrup on it...my guilty pleasure!
BTW, I like my oatmeal creamy and have developed a method of cooking that is perfect for me. I mix the grain, salt, and water in a bowl, microwave until it just comes to a boil (usually about 2 minutes) then turn the microwave down to its lowest setting and cook for 15 minutes.
-
Judi, I use instant oats and microwave them with dates in them....I'm trying everything!!!
-
Barbe,
I am
-
Barbe,
This is my third attempt to post, having some technical problems today. I just wanted to say that I am sorry that I either did not know or forgot about your limitations. I was just trying to be helpful and share what works for me. Infact, I said at the end of the post that I was not preaching, just sharing. There was no reason for you to chastise me (that is how it sounded to me) and suggest that I am new to the thread and was not aware of all the "regulars" and their specifics. I have infact been on this post often and have followed the trials and tribulations of Cathi and her daughter and son-in-law. I am sorry if I insulted you or hurt your feelings, I was just trying to be helpful. If my advice wasn't good for you personally then don't take it but no need to attack me. . I hope you find something that will relieve your irregularity; it can make one grumpy
. I know you did not mean to insult me, but we should all be careful about what we post and how it may come across. I actually usually enjoy your posts and your humor, but not this time. I hope others might have found my post helpful.Caren
