Cathi, of course you need the friends you've made here. But posters here can use pseudonyms, disguise specific info, etc. I read all kinds of things on these boards and elsewhere about people who harmed others who posted too much info on the internet. Making a lot of information available on the internet is risky!
Also, try Googline "+cathi landen ella". Use the plus sign before cathi. Believe me, it will come directly to this thread.

rj and Sheri, sorry you are going through this but there are many of us here to support you. right now is the worst because you don't know what's next You will most likely be getting a lot of tests to determine as much as possible what is happening. These can or cannot include chest x-ray, bone scan, CT scan, mri. In addition to the biopsy, they help your doctors determine what your treatment plan might be. Depending on your doctor, and the results so far, they may suggest surgery first or in some cases chemo comes before surgery. Not everyone has chemo. Also depending on the full pathology you might also get radiation. So you will see a breast surgeon, a medical oncologist and a radiation oncologist. They each have their own specialty but hopefully they will work together for you. For now just go one step at a time - each case is a little different. Bring any questions here and we will do our best to answer, I learned a lot from these boards and it helped me in my conversations with the docs

Nets, they MUST have the results of your mammo by now. They've just been lost in the shuffle!! It doesn't take THAT long to read a mammo!!!!!
-
just a note of good news, my yearly appointment with my plastic surgeon went well today. He said all is still looking well and come back in a year. He mentioned that the nips were holding up well
. I will be seeing Earlene in Asheville later this year to touch up the tattoos, I think that the color is starting to look blotchy.I also found out that the nurse practitioner I went to last year is leaving the medical practice the end of this month but they have a new doctor coming in to take the NP's patients. I think I will wait until the new dr is there to get my annual physical.

Hi girls
My you are quiet these days!!!
My mammo came back normal (cannie believe it, was so convinced the wait was a bad news signal!!!) My wee brother is seeing his consultant on Friday pm to find out if he needs chemo or other treatment. If he needs chemo, it will be a bladder wash, not intravenious chemo. Just want this rollercoaster to end.
Much love and best wishes ....Nets xxxx
-
Nettie, that is really good news for you on your mamo...............sometimes a good imagination is not a good thing! Hope your brother gets a good report also.
Cathi? How is everything going? I keep thinking about you and the little ones and hoping everything calms down and allows them the security all children should have. (((((Hugs))))))
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Great news, Nettie!!! You deserve it more than just about anyone I know. A day with Connor has me wiped out but good. The wedding prep is coming up tomorrow and Friday, so I'm in need of a good sleep tonight. It's all so exciting!
-

-
This thread didn't pop up until today as having an new posts!!! I missed Nets good news!!! Elaine, 8 or 11th??? I've seen Cathi on FB and there hasn't seemed to be a crisis, but SILLYs court date is coming up.....
-
Lumpectomy will be August 18, arrival time 7:15 to check in, have wire placed, OR scheduled for 10:30.
-
Elaine good luck on your lumpectomy. I had 2 of them prior to my bilat. if you have any questions, just feel free to ask.
On FaceBook, August 2nd, Cathi said she called offices trying to get appointments, then gets a call to be there in an hour. Then later in the day she posted, finally someone with a brain. I am not sure what that was about but I am thinking it might be about the children.

Will be thinking of you on the 18th, Elaine. We're all pulling for you.

thanks ladies..I am curious about post op, anything I will need, what will I be able to do, what should I do or not do, how did it feel, how did you feel about it? emotionally, mentally.
The femara, which has been first and only treatment, has been controlling everything since 1/07, was on lupron until 2/11 but estrdoil was going up so had an oopherectomy. So this is failure of meds sort of thing and I am nervous, is this the beginning of something? I remember when I was first dxed the onc talked about stringing one treatment after another...a few years or months from each. I was lucky to get 4.5 almost 5 years.
This brings the whole cancer thing back into the center stage. I worry about how I will look, the surgeon says it is in a good spot surgically and cosmetically, but I am feeling stress, anxiety ... although I believe everything will work out.. I am kinda scared.
-
Elaine, you've already done the hardest thing...being stage IV!!! The lumpectomy will seem to make a divot when you first look, but your breast should fill up the dip after time. You will go home with an icepack in your bra. No restrictions except heavy lifting for a couple of weeks as you don't want to rip inner stitches. This will seem so easy for you, really!
-
its just that I have not had anything that was/is an outward sign or show..just a visual I was hoping not to have...ostrich approach . Only have aches and pains from treatment, now... I will keep your words in my heart.. a mantra of sorts. Thank you Barbe, thank you
-
I woke up from each one with a compression surgical bra on and was instructed to wear either that bra or a sports bra 24/7 for a week. After my first biopsy, I had pull over sports bras and had trouble pulling them on, the 2nd time I got the front hook sports bras and they helped. The compression bras I got from the surgeon were heavy and somewhat uncomfortable. If they give you pain meds, don't wait to take them until you feel pain, it is better to stay a head of the pain rather than catch up the first 24 hours.

...and if you find you have to take pain meds, take a stool softener and gentle laxative like Senokat-S. You may be pleasantly surprised at how little you hurt. There are no muscles, bones or organs involved, so there is only skin pain. There should be NO outward sign that you've had anything done unless you've taken up stripping!
-
When I had my lumpectomy, it was really easy. Very little pain or swelling. In fact, if you looked at me straight on you wouldn't even know there had been a lumpectomy.

Hello sweethearts!
Best news about Hughie. Nicest word in the world. BENIGN!!!!!! - no need even for a chemo wash. They did find a wee abnormality at the base of his spine, but that is most likely due to his daft waightliftine in his teens. I slept well lst night my dears, as did we all.
Elaine, I could not believe how much of a doddle my lumtectomy was. I had the lymph nodes removes at the same time so was prepared for pain. Didn't happen. Bit of post op redness and discomfort and a drain in to give the lymph somewhere to go, but I swear to God that the next morning after surgery I only needed paracetamol and volerol. And the euphorio of knowing that the wee swine was in a lab. I too had the wire - painless - and walked to the op theatre. Please don't lose sleep over this, or agitiate yourself. Like Nancy said there is no bone, muscle, tendons in your boob. Just tissue.
I so hope this helps.
Much love and good thoughs winging yoyur way.
Love to everyone, hope you are all being smily happy people - and if not, why not??????
