I AM DOING A SURVEY
PLEASE PARTICIPATE
SHOULD WE CALL OUR AFGHANS:
1. Hugafghans
or
2. Hugaghans
or
3. HugahandsTHANK YOU
-
I've always like Hugaghans. Hugafghans would be my next choice.
I should have another afghan ready to go tomorrow.
-
Hey Liz-
My daughter was SO excited to see one of her squares in this one
She wants to know "The minute it happens" who got it. LOL. I told her we would watch for the post when it gets to it's new home.
Thanks for all the work you put into this project
Hugs

This afghan will be mailed today! Deb - I'm glad she's contributing.
-
Wow - that's a beauty!
deb - it's awesome your little one is contributing!
More squares are on their way to Liz and Madison!
My vote would be Hugaghans...
I'm assuming it's pronounced HUGAFINS?
-
Laura,
I was wondering how to pronounce all the choices! Would you "spell" out the pronunciations for me so I can make a vote???
Thanks,
love ya,
Bren
-
LOL...that is so funny. I had never thought that folks are most likely pronouncing these differently. I like the Hugaghan....and I say it "Hug again".....now I wonder what everyone else says....
I love the new one! How beautiful. The green and yellow block looks kind of like a hairpin or broomstick lace patteren. Who made it? It is beautiful.
Hugs
Deb C
-
Bren - deb - We need our leaders to pop in and "pronounce" them for us...LOL
Liz - Madison - Vicki...?
-
Deb - Wild/Jan made the green/yellow one. It's not hairpin but can't tell you what it is other than pretty.
Okay here's how I pronounce:
Hugaghan - hug a gan
Hugafghan - hug afghan
Hugahands - hug a hands
-
I've just always called them Hugaghans.........cuz they are full of hugs! LOL on pronouncing...........I'm with Liz...I say hug a gan!
Very pretty 'hugaghan' Liz!
Hugs, (again!)
Denise

Hey everyone,
When I read your posts you all sound "Southern" in my head so you are all pronouncing them as I would
-
Okay ... this is great ... now that I know how to pronounce them, I'm going with Hug a gan!!
Well, I'm a southern gal now (3 years), and since I'm from the west coast, they still call me a Yankee out here.
Thanks Deb.
I like your pronunciation the best!!! (BTW - got you in my thoughts for tomorrow morning)
-
Liz, Vicky and Madison - I know you guys always say you don't need money for shipping, but I would really like to help out with that. I know what mailing things costs, and you should not have to do it all! I have enough blocks made to send 2 boxes....who needs them and can I send some money to cover shipping on at least one hugaghan??
Hugs
Deb C
-
Thanks Bren - I am only stressing a little bit....at least I'm not flipping out, though I can't keep my damn hands of the lumpy-bumpy "thing"....no wonder it hurts! I keep pressing on it...
Deb C
-
Hey Deb - I still have some of yours so send these to Vickie & Madison. I had a bumpy thing and kept pushing on it and my doc told me to stop and it would quit hurting. I'll be with ya tomorrow!
Thanks again to everyone who contributes. We couldn't send the hugs we do without each of you!

I vote for hugaghans and here is why...
Yesterday afternoon, after we had just walked in the house from mom's burial, we hear a knock on the door. Steven ran to see who was there and ran back into my bedroom all excited because I had just received a big box! "Mommy, mommy, it's for you!!!! Wow, huge box. What could it be?"
OMG- I felt the love the minute I looked at the return address. I opened the box and there it was...beautiful afghan! (The first one shown at the top of this page) I started sobbing. The timing couldn't have been better. I was heart broken, had not slept in days and really needed lots of love and hugs. I wrapped my self in it, crawled into bed and fell asleep for 5 hours! I felt your presence and arms surrounding me with your love.
I am touched by such love and generosity. Words can not explain my gratitude. Thank you sisters for this beautiful hugaghan and for all the love and support you've shown me during this very difficult time. God bless you all.
Love and hugs.
-
Odalys, you have been in my thoughts and prayers. The hugaghan is filled with love, comfort and support. I am glad you were able to get some rest.
We are all holding your hand.......
Hugs and Love, Madison

Hello Dear Dear Sisters
I just want to tell you...I was in a dark dark few hours last night following chemo on Tuesday..I almost lost all will ...save for my dad and the beautiful hugaghan xxx
I want you to know I wrapped my hugaghan around me from midnite until 6 am wide awake from steroids and thoughts and gaining so much strength from all the love the hugaghan holds..
You all helped saved my soul and I will always and forever be eternally grateful xxx
-
Odayls - That's great! Yay...I'm so happy you got one! And you're right...the timing could not have been better!
suep - It's so nice to hear that yours is such a comfort. Hang in there...
-
Dear Odalys,
It touched my heart that you received your hugs at the perfect time. I immediately looked up at your blanket and was so happy to see a couple of my squares hugging you. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers constantly.
Dear Sue,
I'm an occasional lurker on your thread ... checking to see how you and your friends are doing. I was so distressed to read of your recent hardships. I am so glad you were able to find comfort last night from your huggie blanket. You are much loved all over the boards.
love to both you gals,
Bren

Hi ladies,
I answered my door today and there was a man with a box containing a hugaghan! It's beautiful and I'm so touched that you thought of me.
I hope next time the door rings it's one of you so I can give you a hug and get a knitting lesson!!
Thank you!
Kari
-
Kari - LOL that was so cute...about the knitting lesson! It's great you received one! Enjoy it as you feel the warmth and love that goes into each one!
-
I pronounce it Hug a hawn!
Deb, I was experimenting with a Long Single Crochet pattern as follows.
A long stitch can be single, double or other size, whatever your pattern calls for. It usually means that instead of placing your stitch next in the row along which you are working, you will go down to the row below and complete your stitch. Here's how it works with the single and double, which are most common.
Long Single Crochet (LSC)
Insert your hook on the row below the row you are working on, and work a single crochet, bringing your loop up to same height as previous stitchesHere's another example of the long stitch. This one is a little longer, going down two rows rather than one.
