a very scary looking member of the czech expedition that they met at base camp. his name is Ug.

Thrilling and terrifying all the same. So glad he's ok. If he was mine I'd be a curled up in a little ball on my bed with the covers over my head all the time.
-
Great pics, Patrice. Don't you wish you could have been there to TAKE the pics. LOL
I can't seem to post pics. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Fumi instructed us on how and now something's different on photobucket (I guess) and I can't get the pic to come up.
Hoping to hear from my kids by next year!

Shirley -- be sure you are using the 'direct' link on photobucket and not the 'img' one.
-
Patrice....As always, your pics are amazing! I seem to have missed where you explained what your son is actually doing on his travels. Are they purely for adventure/pleasure or is there a work component involved?
~Marin
-
Hi, Marin. He and his college buddy are doing this purely for adventure/pleasure, and if they make contacts that lead to employment, even better. At this point, he plans on coming back and possibly going back to school to get his master's in languages. He speaks a couple now. I have a feeling, though, he'll end up just working & saving money so he can do this again..ASAP.
I created a photobucket site for the Everest pics that I've saved so far. Here's a link to it. I'll add more as more are posted on their facebook site and also I'll create albums for their travels down the amazon, (south america), Africa and India. No time today for that, though.
Here's the link. I like to look at them on slide show...it's easier to view.

Dotti-
You know my state of my mind from my I can't get my act together thread. Maybe I should put the blame on him! I love an easy way out of taking responsibility.
-
Patrice, good job. The pics are great. I especially like the "feet." I just ordered them.
Shirley

AlwaysHope, I did.
And this is what happened.
HAHAHAHA!!!!!! I just edited because the link came up. I then tried that "tree up there" again...the one where you c&p the link. It didn't work last time for me. And before I didn't have to use it.
I was almost wanting to pour a cup of hot tea on my computer screen!

Way to Go!!!
-
Always, you may not be saying that after I post pic after pic after pic. I just got some of my grandchildren who just recently returned from Disney. They're sooooo cute.

I LOVE looking at pictures. I'm one of the weird ones that loves to watch home movies, mine or anyone else's.
-
i took this leaving work last week. there are tunnels that run under the capitol and senate office buildings...where they come together, there's a replica of the statue that sits on top of the dome.
-
after walking through a tunnel, i get on this little subway that takes me over to the capitol. doesn't it it look like a kiddie ride?
-
one of the tunnels is lined with historic flags, marking significant dates in our nation's history and state flags.
-
VERY cool! I esp. liked seeing the statue. How great of you to think of these to share!
-
Glad you enjoyed it, Dotti. It was the actual model that was used to complete the one that sits on the Dome. It's called the Statue of Freedom.
-
i posted these in my "passion" thread, but decided to post them here as well. This is my girlfriend, Pam, in the blue hat....my hero, who lost her battle last Sunday night. The pictures were taken at the June 2006 Komen Race for a Cure in D.C. Pam never gave up fighting, but, unfortunately, her body did...completely against her will....and mine...and everyone who knew her.
-
So very sorry for you loss of a good friend/hero. Cancer sucks.
-
I haven't been back here for a few days. Loved your pics, Patrice.
I'm so sorry your friend lost her fight. That's ANOTHER depressing issue in your life.
Hugs,
Shirley

bumping for some of the girls from the can't get my act together thread.
Shirley: Some of your pictures disappeared. You should get them reposted. Your kids' pictures are AWESOME!
