Well, Patrice, my children must LOVE Africa too. They are not in Botswana wanting to do a walking safari. They say ist's very expensive though. They're having a blast (she says).
I have no idea when they plan to return to the states.

Hi, Shirley. My son extended his stay in Africa until the end of this month..they are having so much fun there...then it's on to india.
He also went on a safari this week. Here's the latest message I got from him (thursday).
"Yesterday we went on Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater. It was unbelievable. We paid less than everyone else and got our own Land Cruiser with a guide although we drove alot of the way which isn't allowed. Bill Clinton was in the Crater the same day. He passed us with his entourage and I got some video of the side of his face. Crazy, huh? I will try to post the pics today."
So far he hasn't posted any clinton pics on their website. When he does, I'll post them here.
p.s. nice to see you! -
Nice to see you too, Partrice. We have to admit that our kids are having way more fun that we are.
Can't wait for you to post somemore pics. I didn't now your son had a website.

Shirley, he doesn't have a "website" per se. He posts pictures on www.facebook.com. I wish they would start a blog or something so it would be available to everybody, but i don't think they have found the time. They're too busy having fun. Wouldn't it be fun to trade places with our kids for a couple weeks?
-
Patrice, my children haven't updated in a while BECAUSE they are having SO much fun. And, as my SIL says, it's harder than he thought. He's the type that can't write a simple entry. He has to tell ALL the story.
Yes, it may be nice changing places right now because they're in a great place. As far as going through the treacherous rain forest with no real roads -- digging the road, hiring people to help, etc. -- I'd let them experience that and tell me about it later. Not to mention how hot and steamy and buggy and "floody" it was there.
I'll have to check your son's pictures. Thanks for posting the link.
Shirley -
Darn, the link you posted came up with "error...."

Shirley, I wasn't real clear. that facebook site isn't one that you can just click on and view stuff. you have to be a member and then you have to become "friends" with the other person in order to view their pics. It's kind of like myspace, but it's mostly college kids and travelers who use it. I'll let you know if they start a blog and post pics there.
in the meantime, here's some pics from the safari they were on last week.

Wow - those photos are awesome...it's great that he's able to experience a trip like that. -
We had a wonderful time in Cooperstown for the Baseball Inductions into the Hall of Fame..all of our kids and grandkids joined us...

I sure hope we don't lose this string..I will bump it with a picture I took today of the Pt. Loma lighthouse, here in San Diego..

thanks, laura. here's some pics from his recent expedition up mount everest.
they made it as far as the first base camp and got to hang out with the thai team getting ready to climb to the top. it is the first attempt in thai history.
my son's expedition took 24 days of hiking, plus a small airplane ride, i believe.
